NFL Week 13 Recap

The Saints are skating, the Saint are skating, The Saints are skating by. How do you pushed into an overtime game with Washington and only win by 3 points. The Colts aren't really much better because they have been just barely getting by. I was surprised to see the Vikings get manhandled by the Cardinals. I was really shocked by that indeed. I got manhandled in my Yahoo league again. Here was the final score

Hollywood's Rejects 187.11
Havoc 247.9

My highest point earner was none other then Drew Brees once again. This lost puts me at 4-9-0 and in 7th place for the year. Next week begins the playoffs in Yahoo so I will not be in the championship. In my ESPN League I won again. Here's the final score.

Beavis's Buttheads (joe) 64
Hollywoods World of Sports (HWOO) 78

My highest point earner was Vince Young who has come back strong this year. I am really happy to see that. This win puts me at 5-8 and in keeps me in 9th place for the year. The playoffs begin this week so I'll be curious to see where I am at the end of the year. I also predicted 10 out of 16 right which isn't too bad. Be sure to check back tomorrow for my predictions for week 14.

Hockey Weekly

This week was the best week I have hockey so far this year. I like being able to dominate and take control of a game. Here's how I did this week.

Sandusky Hermes 2-7-1
Hollywood's World of Sports 7-2-1

The Categories I won were W, GAA, SV%, ATOI, SOG, G, and A. My players of the week were Stephen Weiss, Andrew Brunette, Dany Heatley, and Miikka Kiprusoff. I am currently 51-40-9, which makes me 2nd in my division, and 3rd overall in my league. I am still not even close to the 1st place team because they have been dominating all year long. As always keep checking back every Monday to see how I do in Fantasy Hockey.

Basketball Weekly

Well having a bad week was inevitable, you always have one of those weeks where you can't seem to win anything. This week was one of those weeks for me. Here is how I did on my league.

Hollywood's World of Sports 2-6-0
Nate's Playmakers 6-2-0

The only two categories I won were FG%, and REB. My players of the week were Steve Nash, Brendan Haywood, and Danilo Gallinari. That really kind of shock me that those were my best players this week. Then again maybe thats a good thing and that maybe my team will start to come around. After this week I am 24-23-1 which puts me 3rd in the division and 5th overall in my league. I have to mention that Ben Gordon being injured does not help me cause at all. He's been playing limited minutes off the bench. Check back next week to see if he comes back for me and gets my momentum going this week. As always check back Monday's to see how I am doing.

Ultimate Fighter Finale Results and More

Last night was the Ultimate Fighter Finale for season 10 and it was full of a lot of surprises. Here are the results of last nights fights.

Preliminary Card

* Lightweight bout: Canada Mark Bocek vs. United States Joe Brammer
Bocek defeated Brammer via submission (rear-naked choke) at 3:36 of round one. This bout aired on the Spike broadcast after the Edgar vs. Veach fight.

* Welterweight bout: John Howard vs. Dennis Hallman
Howard defeated Hallman via KO (Strikes) at 4:55 of round 3.

* Light Heavyweight bout: Brian Stann vs. Rodney Wallace
Stann defeated Wallace via unanimous decision. (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)

* Heavyweight bout: Jon Madsen vs. Justin Wren
Madsen defeated Wren via split decision. (30-27, 28-29, 29-28)

* Heavyweight bout: Darrill Schoonover vs. James McSweeney
McSweeney defeated Schoonover via TKO (Strikes) at 3:20 of Round 3. This bout aired on the Spike broadcast after the Jones vs. Hamill fight.

Main Card (Spike TV)

* Heavyweight bout: Marcus Jones vs. Matt Mitrione
Mitrione defeated Jones via KO (Punches) at 0:10 of Round 2.

* Lightweight bout: Frank Edgar vs. Matt Veach
Edgar defeated Veach via Submission (Rear Naked Choke) at 2:22 of Round 2.

* Catchweight (215 lb) bout: Kimbo Slice vs. Houston Alexander
Slice defeated Alexander via unanimous decision. (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)

* Light Heavyweight bout: Matt Hamill vs. Jon Jones
Hamill defeated Jones via DQ (illegal elbow) at 4:14 of Round 1. Jones delivered a "12-to-6" vertical elbow that split open the bridge of Hamill's nose.

* Heavyweight bout: Roy Nelson vs. Brendan Schaub
Nelson defeated Shaub via KO (Punch) at 3:25 of Round 1 to become the Season 10 Heavyweight winner of The Ultimate Fighter.

I thought it was awesome how Kimbo Slice intimated the crap out of Houston Alexander. The first round both men were very nervous about mixing it up. The second round Kimbo just beat the crap out of him and then Houston found out what he was in for. I am not saying Kimbo is a great fighter now but he has improved a lot since his last national TV fight with EliteXC. He is no longer street fighter Kimbo, he's MMA Fighter Kimbo and once he gets everything down he is going to be a dangerous fighter. I was really impressed with Matt Mitrione and his knockout of Marcus Jones. I did not care for Mitrione in the house during the show but he proved he can definitely fight. James McSweeney and Darrill Schoonover had a great fight with McSweeney winning by TKO. McSweeney will most definitely be in the UFC for awhile. My prayers go out to Darrill Schoonover who is leaving for Afghanistan shortly and returning to active duty. Then there was main event between Roy Nelson and Brendan Schaub. Everyone thought Nelson would win by sitting on Schaub with his fat stomach but that wasn't the case. Nelson knocked out Schaub in the first round to become the new Ultimate Fighter. It was fun to watch last night but the fights aren't the only big thing that happen last night.

There were some major announcements last night including an appearance by Hulk Hogan announcing that TNA Wrestling will be moving to Monday Nights to compete with Monday Night Raw. Even though it's not UFC related, that's huge. It's also huge for MMA that Hulk Hogan endorses the sport. It was also announced that the coaches for the The Ultimate Fighter 11 (Middleweights) will be Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz. Yes Chuck is coming back and after the Ultimate Fighter season is over Chuck and Tito will fight for the third time. Chuck has already beating Tito twice so it should be interesting to see what happens. Tito was in attendance last night along with Forrest Griffin, Rashad Evans, and others. I also saw a teaser for the UFC Undisputed 2010 which comes out next year. A lot of great things happening for the UFC, Spike TV and the Ultimate Fighter show.

The only thing I was disappointed in is that Rampage Jackson was not in attendance. He should have been there to support Marcus Jones and Kimbo Slice. I cannot wait for the fight between he and Rashad Evans. It's going to be a great fight when it takes place. This wraps of the Ultimate Fighter until April when season 11 is on TV. Some rumored names for the show include Jason Lambert, Nick Thompson and Logan Clark who are all UFC veterans as well as International Fight League and EliteXC veteran Wayne Cole and Ultimate Fighter Season 1 participant Bobby Southworth. Stay tuned for more on the UFC and it's latest happenings.

Thoughts on Tiger Woods

On Thanksgiving Night Tiger Woods got into a car accident and it was late at night and ever since then I have heard everything from drugs/alcohol to domestic violence to him possibly having affair. He recently apologized for his transgressions but didn't specify what they were. There have also been reports that his wife was trying to leave him but he paid her off. For starters, I absolutely hate the media because the assume and they make things up. How do we know that he didn't fall asleep at the wheel or something like that. I know it's very doubtful considering two women have claimed they have had an affair with him.

My first question is why would you be out that late at night on Thanksgiving? Secondly, why would the richest athlete in the world subject himself to such scrutiny? When you're that popular, and well known all eyes are on you. He only got off with a $164 dollar fine and a ticket. The thing about this is that this might hurt golf. He put golf on the map in this decade with advertising, TV, and other endorsements. He's the face of golf and if the face is golf is dirty creep no one is going to watch him. He's already taken himself off of every tournament for the rest of the year. Look on the brightside, atleast it's fair game for anyone win a tournament until he comes back.

As dumb is this is, in Wood's defense he is human and we all make mistakes but whatever mistake he made is going to be a costly for him and his family. He may have ruined his reputation, his career and his fortune. I will be very curious to hear the whole entire truth of this matter because I think a lot of it is assumptions right now. I will be posting more once the truth comes out because I don't want to be like the media and spread rumors. So stay tuned for more

I am not much of a soccer fan and don't know much about the sport but I think it's really cool that the sport is celebrated worldwide much like the Olympics are. The festivities and atmosphere were awesome for drawings. I can only imagine what they will be like for the actual World Cup. I will be covering the World Cup on this site and keep everyone updated on the results and match ups taking place. The only guys I know of are Landon Donovan and David Beckham so I guess I will be watching what those two do in the World Cup. For now thats all on the World Cup. If any breaking news happens regarding the cup I will post it on here so check back often.

R.I.P. Eddie "Umaga" Fatu

This morning I woke up to the news that Eddie Fatu aka Umaga passed away yesterday. It's definitely a sad in the wrestling world again. Umaga was such a great talent and came from the great Samoan family. I remember when I first saw him on TV and that was in 2002. He made his debut as Jamal as part of 3 Minute Warning with his cousin Rosey (Matt Anoa'i). He then returned as Umaga in 2006 and the first guy he attacked was the legendary Ric Flair one day after Wrestlemania 22. He had some great matches with Triple H, Shawn Michaels, and John Cena that summer. He also became Intercontinental Champion on two separate occasions. Some of my favorite matches with Umaga are the ones he had with Jeff Hardy. They worked really great together and help get Jeff Hardy back on the map when Jeff first came back. Who could forget the match he and Bobby Lashley had at Wrestlemania 23 when Donald Trump and Vince McMahon were involved.

Umaga definitely lived up to the Wild Samoan ways in his time during the WWE. I was privileged enough to watch Umaga at a few times, once as Jamal and twice as Umaga. He always had a great style in the ring. I always appreciated how quick he was for as big as he was. Eddie Fatu was only 36 years old and leaves behind a wife and his children. He just returned home after the Hulkamania Tour and was in really good health. Here is what some of his friends had to say on their Twitters:

* Shannon Moore: R.I.P Ecki....Mad love and respect. We will miss you and I will cherish the times we had together.

* Christopher Daniels: RIP Eddie Fatu. I'm glad I got to know you in the short time you were here.

* D'Angelo Dinero: This is rough, very rough. My heart and prayers goes out to Umaga's wife, his boys, and family.

* Allison Danger: RIP Umaga. I thank you for your kindness when we met. My heart aches for your family and my thoughts are with them in their time of need.

* Ken Anderson: go out and tear the house down. We both had something to prove that night and in my opinion: Mission Accomplished! Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Fatu family. Ecki absolutely adored his wife and was extremely proud of his children. I have so many amazing, funny, and heartwarming (sometimes gut wrenching belly-laughing) memories.

* Matt Hardy: Just landed in Shreveport to go to work tonight-I'm very saddened to hear about Ecky (Umaga) & his family-please keep them in your prayers.

* Hurricane Helms: Heartbroken. No words.

* Jeremy Borash: RIP Eddie Fatu

* TNA Online: RIP Eddie Fatu

Eddie Fatu's presence in the wrestling ring will truly be missed. He was a true warrior, and a true Samoan in every sense of the word. RIP Eddie Fatu, we will never forget you and what you brought to the wrestling world. My condolences go out to Eddie's friends, family and all of his fans worldwide. God Bless you all.

Rampage Jackson is Coming Back!

Just two days after the Ultimate Fighter series concluded for the season Rampage Jackson has announced that he is coming back to shut up Dana White and more importantly Rashad Evans. Jackson stated that he hated the way he was portrayed on this season of the Ultimate Fighter. He felt they made him out to be a joke. Rampage said he was going to finish out his contract then go to movies and have a boxing match once a year. That is what he is saying. Once he steps in the Octagon and feels how good it feels to fight again he might change his mind. Awhile back I called out Rampage on this blog saying that he needed stop whining and fight. I am happy that he is fighting again. Everyone wants to see Rashad vs. Rampage because of their bad blood. When Rashad and Rampage finally fight it will be one of the highest watched UFC PPV's ever. With all trash talk, with all the pranks, and with all the pent up aggression it's going to make for one great fight. Even though there is no title on the line this fight should be 5 rounds just because of how important it is going to be.

No date is set for the Rampage-Rashad fight but when it is I will definitely be writing about it. I have a feeling that they are going to build up whatever PPV they are on and make it a mega card to draw more people to watch. Stay tuned for more on this fight and the details of it and keep checking back for other UFC news.

Pacquiao vs. Mayweather: Fight of the Decade

Finally the wait is over and next spring the fight will finally happen. It will be Manny Pacquiao taking on Floyd Mayweather Jr. for Mayweather's Welterweight Title. This fight has been a long time in the making and it's the fight everyone wants to see. Boxing hasn't provided very much excitement during this decade but this fight will go down as the best fight in this decade. De La Hoya-Mayweather was great but people are more behind Pacquiao then they were Oscar at this point. Many people believe Manny is the only one who put Floyd to the ground. Mayweather is 40-0 with 25 KO's and Pacquiao is 50-3-2 with 38 KO's. Pacquiao's three losses came against Érik Morales, Medgoen Singsurat, and Rustico Torrecampo. He avenged his lose against Morales by beating Morales twice. The fight is scheduled for March 13th 2010 so hopefully no one puts anything on against it because it would be a ratings killer for sure.

Pacquiao and Mayweather have a chance to put boxing back where it once was. Back in 2007 boxing had a glimpse of glory when Mayweather and De La Hoya fought. It was the highest grossing PPV of the year and I am sure Pacquiao-Mayweather will surpass that. In some way's this could be boxing's last stand because after this what other dream matches do people want to see. This is the fight of all fights in boxing. Where do you go after that? Who is left to fight each other? I am not saying boxing is going to be totally dead but who are the fans going to get excited about. The only scenario I can come up with is Pacquiao defeating Mayweather and then fans always tuning to see who challenges Pacquiao to see if they can go toe to toe with him. If Mayweather wins then no one is really going to care and people will just blow it off like every other Mayweather fight there has ever been.

If you ask who I want to win, I will definitely say Manny Pacquiao because Pacquiao wants to shut up Pretty Boy Floyd once and for all. Pacquiao and Mayweather both have had historical careers but this fight will determine which one of them the fans will remember them more. Next Spring prepare for a war because this fight will be a war. I for one cannot wait for it and I know millions cannot wait for it either. Stay tuned for more on the fight because I am sure they'll be more details within the coming weeks.

Thoughts on the Ultimate Fighter and Finale

Last night was the last episode leading up to the next Ultimate Fighter and it didn't let down. There was a lot of tension in the house and now it's down to Roy Nelson and Brendan Schaub who both had very tough roads to get there. Roy Nelson had to defeat Kimbo Slice, Justin Wren, and James McSweeney. Brendan Schaub had to defeat Demico Rogers, Jon Madsen, and Marcus Jones to get to the finals. This has been one of the best seasons that the Ultimate Fighter has had thanks to the crazy's like Zak Jensen and Matt Mitrione. It's funny that the show revolved around Kimbo Slice because he only fought once. The thing that I am disappointed in is that Rampage and Rashad won't fight like the coaches have done in the past. Their disliking for each other is what made this season even more fun to watch then all the others in the past. I also thought it was crazy that McSweeney and Jensen got into it on the last episode. McSweeney was pretty that he had to fight Roy Nelson. I guess I would be too. This Saturday is the Finale of the Ultimate Fighter on Spike TV and it's going to be a good one. Here is the card for Saturday Night.

Main Card

* Heavyweight bout: Roy Nelson vs.Brendan Schaub
* Light Heavyweight bout: Matt Hamill vs. Jon Jones
* Catchweight (215 lb) bout: Kimbo Slice vs. Houston Alexander
* Lightweight bout: Frank Edgar vs. Matt Veach
* Heavyweight bout: Marcus Jones vs. Matt Mitrione

Preliminary Card

* Heavyweight bout: Darrill Schoonover vs. James McSweeney
* Heavyweight bout: Jon Madsen vs. Justin Wren
* Light Heavyweight bout: Brian Stann vs. Rodney Wallace
* Welterweight bout: John Howard vs. Dennis Hallman
* Lightweight bout: Mark Bocek vs. Joe Brammer

I am looking forward to the fight between Kimbo Slice and Houston Alexander as well as Marcus Jones and Matt Mitrione. I think the finale is going to be good because Schaub and Nelson both proved during the show they have what it takes. Again both guys had some tough opponents and I think you're going to see Nelson, Jones, Kimbo, and Schaub all get contracts of some sorts because they do need to spice up the Heavyweight division and these guys are just the guys to do it. The only question I have remaining is now that the show has aired will it prompt Rampage Jackson to come out of retirement and fight Rashad Evans once and for all. The season was built around their disliking for each other so I along with other wish the fight would happen. Only time will tell if it will. It's been a fun season on the Ultimate Fighter. I can't wait for next year.

Iron Man Match Poll Results

Over a month a created a poll asking fans what was the best 60-minute Iron Man Match WWE has ever had and the results are in. Here they are and it's really no surprise to me or anyone else.

Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels- 48%
Triple H vs. The Rock- 24%
John Cena vs. Randy Orton- 20%
Brock Lesnar vs. Kurt Angle- 8%
Triple H vs. Chris Benoit- 0%

I think people are being a little biased towards the Chris Benoit thing because it was a really good match and was surprised it didn't even receive one vote. The first is always the best so it's not surprising to see Shawn and Bret at the top. I was kind of surprised that John Cena and Randy Orton finished higher then Lesnar and Angle. I thought Lesnar and Angle should have been second just because it was the only one ever on TV and it highlighted two of best natural athletes. Thanks to everyone who participated and check back for a new poll soon.

NFL Week 13 Predictions

Well it's week 13 and the match ups aren't getting any easier for the most part. Lets get down to business, here are my predictions for the week.

Pittsburgh Steelers over Oakland Raiders

NFL Week 12 Recap

The first thing I would like to say is that the New Orleans Saints are for real. I really didn't thank they had played anyone that was really tough for them but they did last night and proved they can hang with the best and beat the best. Unfortunately I couldn't really hang in fantasy this week. On my Yahoo league this is how it turned out.

Hollywood's Rejects 178.24
The Yatchmeister 235.29

My highest point earner was Drew Brees which is no shock. It seems like he's been my best player week in and week out. This lost put me at 4-8 in 7th place. In my ESPN league I got lucky and his is proof right here.

Hollywoods World of Sports (HWOO) 87
Dir's Losers (Lose) 84

It was 84-80 headed into last night and thanks to John Carney I scored 7 more points and won the week. My highest point earner was Percy Harvin who has become one of my favorite players. He's definitely a force to reckon with and in my opinion is going to premier receiver in the NFL. This win puts me at 4-8 and still in 9th place overall. in the league. In terms of my predictions I don't know how I did because I forgot submit them on ESPN so that doesn't help matters. Anyways speaking of predictions, I will be back tomorrow with my week 13 predictions.

Hockey Weekly

Well this was a good week in Hockey for me. I liked what I saw. Here is how the week ended for me.

Arizona Steel Heat 3-6-1
Hollywood's World of Sports 6-3-1

The categories I won were G, +/-, ATOI, SOG, GAA, and SV%. I am always happy when I win the goalie categories because to me those are the most important. If you win those you're more then likely going to win the week as proven this week. My players of the week were Zach Parise, Patrick Marleau and Miikka Kiprusoff. I am now 45-38-7 which puts me 2nd in division and 3rd in the league overall. I am not at all feeling bad about how I am doing right now. As always check back on Mondays to see how I did. Have a good a week all you ice lovers.

Basketball Weekly

This week in basketball was a little bit rough. I got down early but manage to salvage some sort of a comeback. Here's how the week ended.

Hollywood's World of Sports 3-4-1
My Team Sucks 4-3-1

The categories I won were FG%, REB, and BLK. My players of the week were Dwight Howard, Steve Nash and Trevor Ariza. I am now 22-17-1 which puts me in 2nd place in my division, 4th overall in the league. I am still not doing that bad at all. This week will be the week I catch up and get back in first place. As always comeback every Monday to see how I do.

Fantasy NASCAR Results

Well now that NASCAR is officially over I can post my results of how did in the fantasy games I played in. I played in four different games on ESPN. The first one I did was Fantasy Stock Car. Out of 6 teams I finished 3rd with 9106 points. The winner had 10175 points so it wasn't even close. My best driver was Greg Biffle and that's not saying much because he didn't do all that great for me. The second game I was involved in was Race for the Cup where you picked who would have a better finish between two drivers. In 10 weeks I scored 59 points which was in the 92 percentile. Next was Driver Pick Em which was the same concept as Race for the Cup except that it involved the Nationwide Series. I scored 101 points for the season which put me in the 79 percentile. The last game I was involved with was Stock Car Challenge where you had a 5 man team that you could change from week to week. I scored 20471 points through out the year that put in the 62 percentile. So as you can see I did better then average in all three NASCAR fantasy games and considering I cannot stand NASCAR right now I am quite surprised. I devote the least amount of time to Fantasy NASCAR but then again who could blame me? Now I get to even devote more time to all my other fantasy sports and games.

What I am Thankful for in Sports

Today is Thanksgiving and I would to take the time to tell you what I am thankful for as it relates to sports. So here it goes.

I am thankful for God giving me the ability to write about sports
I am thankful that I have Hollywood's World of Sports.
I am thankful for the UFC because it's real
I am thankful that I am not a Detroit Lions fan
I am thankful that I am not anyone on the New Jersey Nets right now.
I am thankful for ESPN Fantasy Sports
I am thankful I have co-workers who love sports as much as I do
I am thankful that Shawn Michaels is still wrestling, so I actually have someone to root for
I am thankful for all the years I bowled in my life
I am thankful for Mike Illitch and the late William Davidson for trying their best to bring greatness to Detroit Sports
I am thankful that Hulk Hogan has made one more comeback
I am thankful that my girlfriend likes sports, atleast somewhat anyways
I am thankful for West Michigan being a great sports area
I am thankful for sports bars such as Buffalo Wild Wings and Uccello's
I am thankful that Allen Iverson no longer plays for the Pistons
I am thankful that Grand Rapids has two sports radio stations
I am thankful for my Dart board, it's always a good stress reliever
I am thankful for my Carolina Panthers jerseys, even though I have a Jake Delhomme Jersey
I am thankful that everyone in my neighbors love sports
I am thankful for sports in general, competition is always fun.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone and God Bless.

How NASCAR has Ruined Itself

For all those who are excited that Jimmie Johnson won four NASCAR championships, I am hear to burst your bubble. Jimmie Johnson winning four in a row has totally ruined the sport for me. There is a lot wrong with NASCAR right now and it all begins with the Chase for the Cup. I think the Chase for the Cup is a horrible idea and thought it was going to be bad from the beginning. Mathematically if the drivers would have ran under the old system Jimmie Johnson would only have one championship to his name. The other champions would have been Carl Edwards, Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart. That's a little more variety that the fans deserve. If Jimmie Johnson somehow gets to 7 Championships that will be a total slap in the face to Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt who actually sank money into their cars and had to work very hard every week. So with that being said NASCAR needs to go back to the old ways before it completely kills the sport.

The second thing that's totally wrong is the Car of Tomorrow and brand loyalty. The Car of Tomorrow makes every car equally so no one cares if you're driving a Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge or Toyota. I remember when it use to be about who ever had the best mechanics working on your car. I also remember like for example when Dale Earnhardt drove a Chevy he stood behind Chevy and was proud to drive their car. It's not like that anymore. There is no brand loyalty and the drivers don't have pride in their sponsors anymore.

Next up is all the rule changes like no bump drafting at Talladega and Daytona and no passing below certain lines. It's bad enough they put re-stricter plates on these cars but now they are making rules that don't even benefit the use of re-stricter plates. The sport is totally being ruined by all the rules. Let them race it out, let them bump, grind and run into each other. That's what racing is all about, atleast that's what it use to be about.

Finally, the last thing is how they have turned everyone into a superstar and how no one cares. I remember back in the 70's and 80's when there was only a few stars in the sport. They were Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt, Darrell Waltrip, and Rusty Wallace. They were the starts of the sport and if you caught them and beat them then you were made into a star. Now all 43 drivers are stars and people get to see the underdog try to chase down the hero, or dominant driver. I am going to say this, that right now there is now good form of racing right now. NASCAR has become to corporate, and not the good old boys club that is use to be. That's what made people love NASCAR to start with because of the good old boys club mentality. Everyone and their brother is getting into the sport. You can't even turn to Indy Car racing because Tony George split up CART and IRL another mistake made by racing. Right now racing is on the decline because it's not the way it use to be. NASCAR and every other form of racing thats well known need make some changes otherwise less and less people are going to watch it. I am hoping someday NASCAR goes back to the old ways. Only time will tell if they actually do. One can only hope.

A Mega Monday Night Raw and More

Last night on the three hour Monday Night Raw had me really excited because Jesse Ventura was hosting and I knew he would bring something different to the show. Sure enough he did and I thought it was a great. I saw a lot of firsts last night and it was great to see. The CM Punk-John Cena match was very good and it could make for a great feud someday. The other first was a dream match I have wanted to see and it happen to be the Hart Dynasty and DX. They had a solid match but I think they should do more with it considering the history there. I mean you had the Rockers and the original Hart Foundation and then DX against the Hart Foundation of 1997 which ended with a lot of bad blood. They need to play that off more.

They also had qualifying matches to get in to a battle royal to determine the number one contender to John Cena. Everyone in the match except for Randy Orton had never been a World Champion. The winner of the match was Sheamus and he will face John Cena at TLC for the WWE title. All I have to say is, it's about time. I agree with the philosophy that we need to see new people going after the title. I like many am sick of seeing the same old people being in title matches. I don' think we have seen all of Sheamus' ability yet but at TLC people will.

I also enjoyed how DX made a joke out of what happen at Survivor Series. I just about laughed my head off last night during their promo last night. Even though they did not win the WWE title they do have the opportunity to win gold at TLC. They face Jeri-Show for the Unified Tag Team Championships. So after last night two matches have been made for TLC and here they are:

-WWE Champion John Cena vs. Sheamus (Tables Match)
-Unified Tag Team Champions Chris Jericho & Big Show vs. D-Generation X (Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match)

Keep checking back for more matches and my predictions before the pay-per-view.

NFL Week 11 Recap

Eleven weeks in to the season both the Colts and the Saints are a perfect 10-0. Never in the history of the NFL have their ever been two undefeated teams in one season but it could happen and it does it could be one of the most memorable seasons in the history of the NFL. The Colts have been tested and won, however I don't think the Saints have been tested quite yet. They will be this coming Monday against the Patriots and we will see how they do. Now on to fantasy stuff. I got my clocked clean in my Yahoo league again and here's how it went down

Hollywood's Rejects 168.66
Country Strong 249.40

My highest point earner was Drew Brees who has been my highest point earner a lot this year. This lost though buts me at 4-6 in 6th place in my league. On the ESPN side of things I actually won. Here's how it turned out.

Hollywoods World of Sports (HWOO) 107
Where is Greg's Mustache (sdsu) 82

My highest point earner was Ricky Williams and he's been on fire lately. The win puts me at 3-8 and in 9th place. I am finally out of last place. That's always a great thing. In terms of my predictions I guessed 10 out of 16 correct. Not too bad, but not good either. Well tomorrow I will be back with predictions so stay tuned.

Thoughts on WWE Survivor Series

Last night was the Survivor Series, one of WWE's longest running pay-per-views and one of the big four. It was definitely a crazy night. The first match was Team Morrison taking on Team Miz. Some of the cool parts in this match were Evan Bourne flying around as always and the stare down of the two Irishmen Sheamus and Finlay. Miz, Sheamus and Drew McIntyre ended up winning the match and being the survivors

Next up was Batista and Rey Mysterio. Mysterio started off the match quick but as soon as Batista got a hold of him the match was pretty much over. Batista gave him 2 spine busters, and 3 Batista bombs. After the match Batista beat him up even further and left him to be carried out on a stretcher. I have to say I love Batista as heel and I think thats how he needs to be used. He's a good face, but a better heel because of his brutality.

Up next was team Kofi vs. team Orton. Before the match they had a funny backstage segment with Team Kofi because Christian was the only white guy on the team. It was a very funny moment that got a lot of people laughing. I really love how Kofi came back from facing CM Punk and Randy Orton. They are really pushing Kofi Kingston to the next level. I will be curious to see what he does in the future.

The first triple threat match of the night was Undertaker vs. Big Show vs. Chris Jericho. The match went the way I thought it would. Show and Jericho double teamed the Undertaker until it was time for them to try and win. Then they started breaking apart and Big Show went after Jericho. Undertaker eventually locked in Hells Gates on Big Show and retained his World Championship.

I am not even going to talk about the Diva's match because it was boring. All I will say is that Mickie and Melina were the Survivors which I had a feeling they would be anyways. Nothing special happened in this match.

Then the Main Event of the night. Shawn and Triple H came out together which I really didn't like but oh well. After the bell rang the first thing that happen was Shawn giving Triple H Sweet Chin Music and knocking him out. Then once Shawn and Cena got on the outside Triple H gave a spine-buster to Shawn Michael right through a table. It was a really good triple threat match which saw Shawn and Triple H go at it for awhile. I loved it because Triple H and Shawn have a really good matches. Cena eventually took advantage of DX's implosion and retained his WWE title. It was a really good match, one of the better triple threat matches I've seen because of all the tension in this match.

I would rate Survivor Series 3 stars out of 5 because it decent matches, but not a lot of excitement up until the last match. The last match pretty much made the whole pay-per-view for me. I really wanted the title off John Cena but I didn't get my wish. It was a good pay-per-view and I was satisfied with what I saw.

Hockey Weekly

Well I had my best week in Hockey to date since I've been playing. It was a good week for me in hockey. Here is how it turned out after the weeks end.

Hollywood's World of Sports 6-3-1
Anaheim Penguins 3-6-1

The categories I won were G, A, +/-, PPG, ATOI, and SOG. My players of the week were Zach Parise, Dany Heatley, and Martin St. Louis. They all made contributions. I did not win any goalie categories again this week which really has me a little bit peeved. After this past week I am at 39-35-6 which means I am second in my division, and third overall in my league. Hopefully I can keep my momentum going. Check back next week to see if I do.

Basketball Weekly

Well it was a pretty intense week in basketball this week. I didn't do bad, but I didn't do good either. Here is what the final outcome looked like.

Hollywood's World of Sports 4-4-0
Get Right 4-4-0

The categories I won were FG%, REB, AST, and BLK. My players of the week were Trevor Ariza, Steve Nash, and Dwight Howard. This puts me at 19-13-0 which makes me first in my division and 2nd overall in the league. I am feeling very confident about team this year. I make my adjustments when I have to but I know I have a great team infront of me. As always check back next week for more.

Forrest Griffin gets Revenge at UFC 106

The first time Forrest Griffin and Tito Ortiz met was at UFC 59 in 2006. It went all three rounds and Tito won by split decision. I personally thought Forrest won that fought and was hoping for a rematch someday. Tito Ortiz made his return last night after a very lengthy absences. He looked really awesome and in good shape and in good spirits. Tito had a lot to prove and he did his best to prove. Forrest Griffin also had a lot to prove after an embarrassing lost to Anderson Silva. Both men had a lot to prove last night but only won could win the fight. The fight went all three rounds and Griffin seem to control most of the fight but The Huntington Beach Bad Boy hung in there with him. After three rounds it went to a judges decision and Forrest Griffin won by split decision and got his revenge. The judges scored it (28-29, 30-27, 29-28). They are pretty much the same scores from UFC 59 but with a different winner. I was really impressed with Kendall Grove, Josh Koscheck, Paulo Thiago, and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. All of them had good outings and fights. I also really like the idea of showing all the preliminary fights. It's a great way to get other fighters notice, possibly increase pay-per-view buys and plus there is nothing better on Saturday Nights any ways. What a great night for a fight and thanks to Tito and Forrest for having such a great fight. It was awesome.

WWE Survivor Series Predictions

Tomorrow Night is one of my favorite pay-per-views of the year. It is one of the big four and it's Survivor Series. One of my favorite things about Survivor Series is the 5 on 5 tag matches where the whole team has to be eliminated. I like the Survivor Series from the 80's and early 90's because the teams use to cut these insane promos and bonded together. They still somewhat do but it's not like it use to. Anyways lets get down to business, and my predictions

Triple Threat match for the WWE Championship- John Cena (c) vs. Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels
Well this match is so hard for me to read. The WWE Championship has changed hands a lot already this year. I really want to see Triple H or Shawn Michaels win the title, preferably Shawn Michael. I don't think it's going to happen. This match will be one of the most talked about matches for a long time. I just have a feeling it's going to be one of those really great matches. Cena wins, and further cements his legacy.

Triple Threat match for the World Heavyweight Championship- The Undertaker (c) vs. The Big Show vs. Chris Jericho
I think The Undertaker has got this hands down. Jericho and Big Show will implode and cost each other the title and the bragging rights of holding two belts at once. However do not forget Big Show's history at Survivor Series. In 1999, he defeated the Rock and Triple to win his first WWE title. In 2002, he defeated Brock Lesnar for the WWE title giving Lesnar his first loss in the WWE. Speaking of history, this marks The Undertakers 19th anniversary in the WWE. It should be a great match that symbolizes what The Undertaker is all about.

Team Kingston (Kofi Kingston, Montel Vontavious Porter, Mark Henry, R-Truth, and Christian) vs. Team Orton (Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, Ted DiBiase, CM Punk, and William Regal)
It's really hard to predict the matches but considering Rhodes and Dibiase were not out to help Orton this past Monday I believe Legacy splits and causes Team Orton to lose. Kofi is getting pushed hard right now and they are trying to make him a main eventer which is not a bad thing. He's got charisma, and he's definitely got the skill to be a World Champion. Team Kingston wins, and don't ask me who I think will survive because that's two hard.

Team Morrison (John Morrison, Matt Hardy, Evan Bourne, Shelton Benjamin, and Finlay) vs. Team Miz (The Miz, Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, Dolph Ziggler, and Jack Swagger)
I really like this match a lot just because of all the young guys in it. These guys with exception of Hardy and Finlay are the future of the WWE and they are going to be trying to steal the show. I think team Morrison wins and Evan Bourne will definitely highlight the match.

Team Mickie (Mickie James, Eve Torres, Kelly Kelly, Melina, and Gail Kim) vs. Team Michelle (Michelle McCool, Jillian Hall, Beth Phoenix, Layla, and Alicia Fox)
I could really care less about this match but I think Team Mickie will win and Mickie will be one step closer to getting a shot at the Women's title against Michelle McCool. It should be a very short match which is a good thing.

Batista vs. Rey Mysterio
Good friends have turned into better enemies. For the very first time ever Rey Mysterio and Batista go one on one on a pay-per-view. This feud kind of reminds me of the Diesel-Shawn Michaels feud in 1996 before Diesel left the WWE. It has the same feeling to it but I think this feud is going to be much better then that one. It's in Batista's hometown so I'll be curious to see how they react to him. I really don't know what's going happen in this match but I am going to give it to Batista. I think he will destroy Mysterio and put Rey out until Wrestlemania. Just a thought, I wouldn't read much into it.

This is going to be a really good pay-per-view. WWE has a lot of momentum going into tomorrow night. They had a good Raw and Smackdown this week so it definitely has people interested in what's going to happen tomorrow. So tune in tomorrow night to see who will survive. I will be watch at Buffalo Wild Wings on 28th St. in Grand Rapids and I for one cannot wait.

Hall of Famers to Collide at UFC 109

On February 6th, for the first time ever two UFC Hall of Famers will face each other in the octogan at UFC 109. It will Randy Couture taking on Mark Coleman. Oddly enough they have never fought each other so this is definitely a monumental dream match. Both of have these men have fought in a lot of wars. Mark Coleman has been in UFC for a long time and has fought some greats like Dan Severn, Don Frye, Fedor Emelianenko, and Mauricio Rua. He was the first ever UFC Heavyweight Champion by beating fellow UFC Hall of Famer Dan Severn. He spent the first part of his career in the UFC and then moved on the Pride until it folded.

His opponent is no slouch. "The Natural" Randy Couture has been in some wars with the likes of Vitor Belfort, Jeremy Horn, Pedro Rizzo, Chuck Liddell, Tito Ortiz, and Tim Sylvia. He is the first person ever in the UFC to win titles in two separate weight divisions on two separate occasions. Randy Couture is good at what ever weight class he is in but I believe he excels more at the Light Heavyweight division.

Both men are in the mid 40's and still have a lot to prove. I know both would like to hold the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship but unfortunately that road goes through Lyoto Machida who is still the champion. You have to believe though whoever wins this fight will be in line for a title shot. Everyone likes an old timer to teach all these young guys a thing or two. I think it's great that UFC is putting on fights that no one has ever seen or will probably never see again. UFC 109 is going to great watch. The other probable matches on the card include:

* Welterweight bout: Matt Serra vs. Frank Trigg
* Middleweight bout: Demian Maia vs. Dan Miller
* Heavyweight bout: Rolles Gracie vs. Mostapha Al Turk
* Lightweight bout: Ronnys Torres vs. Melvin Guillard
* Lightweight bout: Rob Emerson vs. Phillipe Nover

Keep checking back for more matches to be announced or if the fight card changes at all. A lot of great UFC action will be taking place before February so keep your eye out for more UFC news.

NFL Week 10 Recap

Well week 10 is in the books in the Colts and Saints are still undefeated. Both teams barely won their games so I wonder if that is a sign of things to come. Bill Belichick pretty much gave the Colts the win in 4th quarter by taking a risk. A lot of people are calling out Bill because of that decision and people need to realize it's just a game. People are acting like it's the end of the word because Bill Belichick made one bad call. No one is perfect, including him. And speaking being far from perfect, it was another bad week for me in fantasy football. In my Yahoo league here is out it ended up.

Hollywood's Rejects 170.47
Has Steve Smith 2 297.84

My highest point earner was Reggie Bush who has been kind of quiet this year. I like the fact he is starting to come around for the Saints. I am currently 4-6 in my Yahoo league. As for ESPN I didn't get blown out but I still lost. Here is what my week ended up like.

Louisville Chargers (TREG)(6-4) 68
Hollywoods World of Sports (HWOO) (2-8) 62

My highest point earner was Kurt Warner. This lost still keeps me in last place which is pretty bad. I also had 9 out of 15 right on predictions which isn't all that great. It's hard to believe that in 7 weeks the playoffs begin. It's been a fast year this year already. Week 10 is in the books. Check back tomorrow for my week 11 predictions

Allen Iverson Already Done in Memphis

Well this is no shocker, Allen Iverson whining because he is coming off the bench. He only played three games for the Memphis Grizzlies and decided to go home because the coach didn't make him a starter right away. I am so glad the Pistons only had him for one year because he causes tension in the locker room. There is no doubt in my mind the Allen Iverson will be in the Hall of Fame someday but he has no idea on how to adapt. When he was with the 76ers he had players around him that complimented his style. I personally think Allen Iverson's career is over because no one is in real need for him. The only possibility I can think of his former coach Larry Brown pulling some strings to get him in a Charlotte Bobcats. That's the only possibility I could think of. If his career is over he had a great career except for maybe the last 2-3 years. So long A.I. it's been really nice knowing you and watching you play when you were at your best.

Is Brock Lesnar's Career Over?

Over the weekend it was widely reported that Brock Lesnar has Mono and has been very sick. More details have been coming out since including him collapsing in the hospital, surgery and a possible trip to the Mayo Clinic. What's even sadder is that his career could be over according to Dana White. If it is then he had one of the best short careers in MMA history. I don't care would the critics say about Brock. The fact of the matter is, is he made the Heavyweight Division in the UFC exciting again. He defeated Frank Mir, Heath Herring, and Randy Couture in his time in the UFC so far. Not a lot of people can say that beat those three guy who are all legitimate fighters. It's sad when someone who loves their sport as much as Lesnar does has their career put in jeopardy. Even if Brock is force to quit fighting I'll still continue to watch the UFC like I did before he started fighting. The UFC is an awesome sport which Lesnar has made a little bit more entertaining with his antics.

In other UFC news, Shane McMahon apparently met with Dana White last week. I have no clue what their meeting was about but it should be noted that Shane McMahon loves MMA and has always wanted to be involved with MMA. My guess is he is trying to join UFC or start his own MMA company. With Shane's knowledge he could help take the UFC to heights it's never been. Only time will tell what Dana and Shane O Mac met about. Stay tuned for developments on both stories.

Hockey Weekly

Another week has gone by in the grueling hockey season and I actually had a decent week this week. Here is how it turned out for me this week in my NHL fantasy hockey league.

Pawtuckett Thunder (47-18-5)4-5-1
Hollywood's World of Sports (33-32-5) 5-4-1

The categories I won were W, GAA, SV%, +/-, and PPG. So as you can see I won all three goalie categories which made me very happy. It's really what makes or breaks you in this league is how well your goalies do. My players of the week were Miikka Kiprusoff, Dany Heatley, and Zach Parise. All of them did very well for me and kept me in the match this week. I am third in my division and fourth overall. For not knowing anything about Hockey I am doing well because I really expected to be in last place all year long. Maybe I can win it all, who knows? As always check back every Monday for more on Hockey.

Basketball Weekly

Well another week has come and gone in basketball and I got back on track with my winning ways. Here's how it looked for the week

Barack Obama is my Starting PG (9-15) 2-6-0
Hollywood's World of Sports (15-9) 6-2-0

The categories I won were FG%, 3PM, REB, AST, STL, and PTS. My players of the week were Steve Nash, Dwight Howard, Trevor Ariza, and Luis Scola. I am currently 15-9 which puts me back in first in my division and 2nd in the league overall.

There were some great games on TV last week especially Thursday night. Cleveland and Miami had a great game as well as Denver and Los Angeles. That's the one thing I love about basketball being on TV three times a week. You get to see all the teams at some point in the season. ESPN, and TNT both have great basketball coverage. As always check back every Monday to see how my fantasy basketball team did.

Boxing and UFC Go Head to Head Again

It was on September 19, 2009 when Boxing and UFC went head to head last and the first time around Boxing won that match-up in a lot of peoples eyes. Boxing had Juan Manuel Marquez taking on Floyd Mayweather Jr. The UFC had Rich Franklin taking on Vitor Belfort at UFC 103. They were both on PPV and boxing ended up doing better numbers because the UFC Main Event was not good. Last night was a different story. Boxing had Manny Pacquiao taking Miguel Cotto and the UFC had the legend Randy Couture taking on Brandon Vera.

The problem for boxing last night is it only had one great fight whereas the UFC had three great fights. Michael Bisping defeated Denis Kang in the 2nd round. Then you had Dan Hardy winning by unanimous decision against Mike Swick. Then you had Capt. America, the living legend, The Natural Randy Couture defeated Brandon Vera by unanimous decision. Pacquiao and Cotto went into the 12th round before Manny beat him. It was a history making night for Pacquiao who won his 7th title in his 7th weight class. That's just really crazy because there are too many weight classes to begin with. Even though he made history, the spotlight was probably stolen away from him because UFC 105 was free and on Spike TV. It was also in England and most people probably didn't know it was on a tape delay so they tuned in to watch.

If I didn't know any better I would think Dana White is trying to kill boxing all together. Why else would you put a pay-per-view on free TV the night of a major boxing fight. It's simple business. The UFC is trying to prove that they are the dominant sport. I am not taking anything away from the Pacquiao and Cotto fight because it was a really great fight to watch but it's simple common sense. Would you pay 50 dollars to watch one good fight or pay nothing to watch 5 good fights on Cable Television? It's not rocket science and not hard to figure out. It was a great night if you're a fan of any type of professional fighting. Boxing won on September 19th but the UFC won last night. If they meet head to head again, who will win the rubber match? Who will be fighting on that night? And which sport will gain momentum? All these questions and more.

Lebron James is Changing His Number

Yesterday it was announced that Lebron James will be changing his number from #23 to #6 after this season in honor of Michael Jordan. Well it's about time Lebron did something that was classy and something that will get him some respect. This does not mean I like him because I still don't like him but I really like the gesture. I personally think that #23 should be retired throughout the league anyways because of how great Jordan was. Jackie Robinson's number is retired in baseball except for the one day out of the year when baseball honors him and wears his number. In NASCAR, even though it's not officially retired no one will ever use the #3 again because of Dale Earnhardt's legacy. So in my opinion basketball should follow up by retiring Jordan's number. It will be really weird seeing Lebron in a #6 jersey but hey maybe the kid is growing up.

It should be noted that this announcement came right after Jordan watched Lebron in action when Cleveland played at Miami. Jordan was seen sitting next to Pat Riley at the game on Thursday and gave both Dwayne Wade and Lebron James a standing ovation. On a final note that game between the Cavs and the Heat was off the charts. It was a really fun game to watch. Both teams lit it up. I can't wait until they play each other again.

Fight Night Round 4 Review

Last weekend I was able to play EA Sports Fight Night Round 4 finally. I have to say right off the get go that this game is really awesome. It seems like sports games are a lot more realistic then what they use to be and this one is not an exception. The game features Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali two fighters who everyone would have loved to seen each other fight. This game has some really awesome fighter on it. A few names I didn't see though were Evander Holyfield, Oscar De La Hoya or Floyd Mayweather Jr. I was told you can download De La Hoya so that's a good thing. The game has 50 fighters including one that actually made me laugh. I was really surprised to see Tommy Morrison on there. I remember him from Rocky 5 and thats kind of why I started watching boxing on occasion. If you're a boxing fan and have a XBOX 360 or a PS3 then you definitely need to get this game. The game play, graphics, and the actual presentation of the game is just phenomenal.

I've played UFC Undisputed, Smackdown vs. Raw 2010 and I will say that this game ranks right up there with them in terms of a good fighting game that's actually based on something that's actually real. I've never been a big fan of the Street Fighter's, the Mortal Kombat's, or any of those type of games. I like fighting with guys that I know and that I see on TV. My final rating for this game is 8.5/10. As I said I couldn't find a lot of flaws in this game except it missing a couple of big name fighters. Check out it today because you get addicted to this game very quick.

The Fallout of Magic and Isiah

Magic Johnson’s new book “When the Game was ours,” has raised a lot of eyebrows. The thing most people are talking about is the accusations that Magic had made about Isiah Thomas. In the book he stated the Isaiah started a rumor that he was a homosexual and that’s why he was diagnosed with HIV. The next claim was that Isiah got the whole Eastern Conference All Team to not give the ball Michael Jordan in his rookie when he played in the All-Star game. The last claim I’d like to focus on is apparently how everyone conspired to keep Isiah Thomas off of the Dream Team in 1992 because no one wanted to play with him. For two people who use to acknowledge each other with a kiss on the cheek before each time they played their sure is a lot of bad feelings towards each other.

I would like to look at two sides of this and first I am going to start with Magic Johnson. Why on earth would you wait twenty something years to tell people all of this? If it really happened then it should have been brought out then, not all these years later. Magic does not need the money so I am wondering why he and Larry Bird wrote this book to begin with. Concerning the homosexual rumor that was supposedly spread by Isiah, it should be known that Isaiah’s brother died of AIDS. I also would really curious to see what Michael Jordan’s stance is on the Dream Team situation because apparently he was the one who didn’t want Isaiah playing with him. They are players that were on the Dream Team including Chris Mullen, Scottie Pippen, and Christian Laettner who in my opinion couldn’t hold a candle to Isiah Thomas. I am wondering, wouldn’t you want the best on your team? Because Isiah was one of the best, and no one can doubt that.

Now in terms of Isiah Thomas, I am not saying he is an angel because he has done a lot of things that are questionable. He had a sexual harassment lawsuit on him during his time with New York Knicks. He also overdosed on drugs last year and then told everyone it was daughter which put his family in the spotlight and embarrassing them. You also have to remember that back when Isiah was playing the Pistons had the mentality of it’s us against the world and you couldn’t be anyone’s friend. That mentality gave everyone on the Pistons team a bad name, including Isiah. As a player, Isiah Thomas had a very successful career but ever since he retired he has not done much. He let the CBA go to crap, and he was a horrible person for the New York Knicks. I will give him credit for two things. He led the Pacers to the playoffs each year he was their coach and he tried he best to build the Toronto Raptors by drafting Damon Stoudamire, Marcus Camby, and Tracy McGrady. Oddly enough none of those guys play with Toronto anymore. Thomas eventually left after disputes with new management. So as you can see Isiah has not had the greatest post player career that some dream of.

This is really too bad for basketball fans to have to listen to all of this. These guys were loved by a lot of people in the 80’s and now people are torn on who to believe. Unfortunately once it’s said or once it’s written you can’t take it back. I have always had a lot of respect for Magic and Isiah but as I said before if this was all true, why wasn’t it brought up when it happened. Right now both men are still involved with basketball Isiah is the coach of Florida International University and Magic is a analyst for ESPN's NBA Countdown.

I would be really curious to see what others say about this. By others I mean people who played and were around both Isiah and Magic all the time. I for one as a basketball fan would really like to know if basketball or even sports in general are that shady and that dirty that people would act like that. If Magic is telling the truth I guess that’s good for him but he should have said something long ago. If that Isiah is telling the truth then that book should be burned and taken off the shelves. Perhaps we will never know who is telling the truth and who isn’t. In the end one of the guys will have to live with whatever they have said and done. I can guarantee one thing though. If Magic and Isiah ever see each other again they won’t greet each other with a kiss on the cheek. The love atmosphere between these two is over. I hate to say it but their friendship is over as well. That’s what happens when you strive to be the best. You do what you can to make it to the top even if it mean screwing your friends over. Maybe Magic and Isiah should both think about if the fame they have was worth destroying their friendship and their good names. Only Magic and Isiah can answer that. Maybe someday they will.

NFL Week 9 Recap

At the end of week 9 the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts are still undefeated at 8-0 but both play New England within the next three weeks. The other good news is that Tampa Bay won their first game against the Packers. The Packers are young, and their offensive line is just downright horrible. If you ask me the NFC East is already wrapped up by the Minnesota Vikings who are 7-1 and didn't even play this week. Fantasy was good and bad this week. Lets start with the bad. In my Yahoo league here is how it looked:

Hollywood's Rejects 162.51
To Spite Kevin. 254.54

I got my clocked clean for sure. My highest point earner was the Atlanta Defense. This lost puts me at 4-5 in the league which has me in a 3 way tie for 4th. In my ESPN league I fared a little bit better. Here is how it looked like

Hollywoods World of Sports (HWOO)(2-7) 76
Boston Bashers (BUSK)(2-7) 66

My highest point earner was the old man Kurt Warner who played spectacular this week. All of my guys played really decent giving me a nice victory that was sorely needed. As always check back tomorrow for predictions. It's hard to believe it's week 10 already. Only 6 more weeks left. That's crazy.

Hockey Weekly

So Hockey is getting interesting for me. I started out in first place but have struggled to stay at .500. This week I went 5-5 winning the following categories: G, A, PPG, ATOI, and SOG. For the 2nd week in a row I didn't win any goalie categories which is really upsetting to me. My players of the week were Ales Kotalik, Scott Niedermayer, Dany Heatley and Milan Hejduk. I am currently 28-28-4 which puts me 3rd in the division and 5th in the league. I definitely need to get new goalies though. I have been struggling at that position and it's costing me some deadly points. As always check back next week for more Fantasy Hockey.

Basketball Weekly

Well another week of basketball has gone by and I did okay this week. It could have been better because I only went 3-5 in my league. The categories I won were PTS, AST, and 3PM. I killed it on three pointers. I have some really good shooters on my team but 3-5 just doesn't cut it for me because I know I have better players then that.

My players of the week are Ben Gordon, Shaquille O'Neal, Grant Hill, and Steve Nash. Good work boys. I am currently 9-7 which puts me in 2nd place in the division and 4th place overall. I need to pick up the pace this week and make some moves. There are a few guys I am not happy with and am trying to get rid of and hopefully I do eventually. As always check by next week for further updates on my Fantasy Basketball team.

Did Lebron Force Braylon Out of Cleveland?

A couple of weeks ago I was listening to the Dan Patrick show and he was talking about the Braylon Edwards incident that happened awhile ago. He was saying that Lebron demanded that Braylon Edwards be traded out of Cleveland or otherwise he would not play another minute of basketball. I've read that Braylon punched Lebron's friend because he was jealous of Lebron and that led to the scuffle. Okay well here is the scenario I envisioned that happened.

Braylon Edwards and Lebron James happen to be in the same nightclub on that night. And because of who Lebron James is, his friend probably started mouthing off to Braylon Edwards, probably talking trash in the process and that led to Braylon hitting him. Then because of who Lebron is to Cleveland he probably told people that he wanted Braylon Edwards out of his town. In a way he did Braylon a favor by running out him out of the Browns organization. Now he is on a decent team that can contend. The Browns are a joke and so is Lebron actually.

I do not understand why people love this guy so much. He walks around with a New York Yankees hat on, not supporting his other local teams. They call him "King" What's he the king of? I can think of atleast 5 basketball players better then him. Guys like Kobe, D-Wade, and a few others I feel are way better then Lebron. They also never called Jordan, Magic, or Bird the king and they were way better the Lebron ever could dream of being.

This whole incident and possible theory just fuels my disliking for Lebron James even more. I feel bad for the city of Cleveland because they are putting all their hopes and dream on this guy when you know he will probably leave after this year. This is the same guy who was embarrassed to hide video footage of a college kid dunking on him. He's a poor sport, he's a crybaby and he's not that great as everyone thinks he is. Maybe someday Lebron will grow up but until then he does not have my respect and probably never will.

The Wrestling Wars Rise Again

In June 1994, Hulk Hogan did the unthinkable and did something no one ever thought he'd ever do. He signed with Ted Turners WCW and changed the wrestling world as we know it. Up until that point WCW was never really on the same level as the WWE. Don't take that statement the wrong way because WCW had some great stars like Sting, Vader, and whole bunch of other guys. In 1993 the WWE started it's weekly show Monday Night Raw and it was pretty much unopposed except for Monday Night Football. That all changed in August of 1995 when WCW aired Monday Nitro at the Mall of America. The shock value that WCW was trying to create started that night when Lex Luger appeared on Nitro just one day after being on WWE's Summerslam. People went nuts and focused their attention on this company who was pulling out all the stops.

The wrestling world changed even more at Bash of the Beach 1996 when Hulk Hogan joined up with Scott Hall and Kevin Nash to form the n.W.o. In my opinion this is when the Monday Night Wars really began. WCW dominated the ratings for nearly 2 years and came close to putting WWE out of business but then WWE through the gloves off and started the attitude era. Stone Cold, the Rock, DX and Mankind along with others were doing crazy stuff on TV that you'd never thought would be done in professional wrestling. In my humble opinion 2000 was the turning point in the Monday Night Wars. By this time WWE had Kurt Angle, and Chris Jericho but they signed Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko, and Perry Saturn. They were the ones going out putting all the good matches on and now the WCW didn't have that. WWE was pushing new stars and WCW wasn't.

A lot of things led up to WCW closing down and a week before Wrestlemania 17 Vince McMahon bought the rights to WCW and ended the Monday Night Wars. I can tell you without any doubt in my mind that 2001 was really the last great year in professional wrestling. For 8 years no one has been considered competition, no one has come close to being what the WWE is and always has been. Then the unthinkable happened again and shook the wrestling world again.

On October 27, 2009 Hulk Hogan signed with TNA wrestling, company that's been an existence for almost seven years. TNA has made some major moves by getting Kurt Angle, Team 3D, Bobby Lashley, and Mick Foley. They also had Christian for awhile as well as Booker T. TNA is doing the thing that WWE use to do but doesn't really do anymore and that's push new stars. They have guys like AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Matt Morgan, Desmond Wolfe, and others. TNA has a great mix of veterans and young talent that will take wrestling to another level again. WWE has gotten away with being boring, predictable and stale for eight long years and now maybe we will the unpredictable TV we once saw from them.

The one thing people really need to understand is that WWE is at the highest level that it will ever be at. I honestly don't think they can do anything new or get any higher. TNA has a lot of room to get better, and go to higher places. Now by having Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff they can go to higher place hopefully and make a good run. The one thing I fear though is if they have the same mind set they did in WCW. They were out to put Vince and WWE out of business and they can't go about it that way. They have to focus on TNA, and how to make TNA better. If that happens they will be around for a very long time. I am not sure if there will be a Monday Night War, a Friday Night War or whatever day of the week wrestling airs but TNA is going to be competition for the WWE. WWE is going to have to start listening to their fans or many of them will switch to TNA. Don't forget Hulkamania is still strong and all the Maniacs are going to tune in to see what he does.

WWE vs. TNA, I for one cannot wait to see some good wrestling, good TV, and some good competition once again. It's been a long time coming and it will fun to watch. Wrestling fans should be very excited. My prediction is that 2010 is going to be the best year in wrestling since 2001. Stay tuned to see who comes, who goes and to see what is going to happen. In wrestling never say never and anything can happen. Stay tuned for more.

Thoughts on Yankees World Series Win

For the 27th time in their history the New York Yankees have won the World Series. They defeated the Phillies last night 7-3 to win the series 4 game to 2. A lot of history was made in this World Series. Chase Utley tied Reggie Jackson's record for most home runs in a World Series with 5. Ryan Howard had 13 strikeouts, the most ever in a World Series. Then you have the Yankees with Hideki Matsui ties a World Series record with 6 RBI's in a game, and 8 RBI's in the series. He also batted .600 throughout the series. The only other player to do that was Babe Ruth. Matsui is also the first Japanese player to be named World Series MVP.

Both teams had a great but in the end the additions of Teixeira, Sabathia, and Burnett really paid off this year. However you cannot discredit the additions of Cliff Lee and Pedro Martinez for the Phillies because they did some great things down the stretch. Even if Pedro has pitched his last game he had good last run. And as far as Cliff Lee goes, I believe he still has a few years left in him and many more miles to go. The Yankees have won their 27th World Series in the 40 times they have been there. That's a good ratio of wins and appearances considering the World Series has been played for 106 years. I also forgot to mention Johnny Damon made history as well. He became only the 2nd player in history alongside Eric Hinske to win the World Series as Yankee and Red Sox. Something that people only dream of actually playing for both sides of that rivalry.

So the next question is will the Yankees repeat? Or will a team that has not won in a longtime find glory in 2010? I guess we will have to wait another year. In the meantime let the changes begin. Free Agency, coaching changes and a lot of movement will start here pretty quick. So long baseball. It's been a good season with the Evil Empire recapturing the throne once again.

NFL Week 8 Recap

The Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints. What do they have in common? They are the only undefeated teams left in the NFL. Then there are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who have not won a game this year. The Rams, and Titans both got their first victories of the season. I was very impressed by what Ted Ginn Jr. did this weekend having two 100 Kickoff Returns for Touchdowns. He just didn't do it in the same game, he did it in the same quarter. That's a very impressive feat. Nothing else really exciting happened this week except for Brett Favre returned to Green Bay with the Vikings and stuck it to his old team. It was actually a really fun game to watch. Speaking of fun, fantasy football was kind of fun this week for me. My Yahoo League game down to last nights game and here's how it looked at the end.

Hollywood's Rejects 222.92
Team Insano 219.23

My highest pointer earner was the Chicago Defense who decimated the Cleveland Browns. This win puts me at 4-4 and in fourth place in the league. My ESPN league also came down to last nights game as well. Here is how that turned out.

green street elite (GSE)(6-2)94
Hollywoods World of Sports (HWOO)(1-7) 84

My highest point earner was the Chicago defense again. This lost still keeps me in last place. I also only predicted 7 out of 13 right for the week too. I am doing better in Yahoo but I am still sucking in ESPN. I need to turn it up a notch and hope for better results. I'll be back tomorrow with my predictions for week 9 so come on back.

Hockey Weekly

This week in Hockey I played a lot better then what I did last week. Here is how it looked at the end of the week.

Hollywood's World of Sports 6-4-0
Arizona Steel Heat 4-6-0

The categories I won were G, A, +/-, PIM, PPG, and SOG. I did not win any of the categories for Goalies so I was extremely disappointed in that aspect. My players of the week included Zach Parise, Shea Weber, Patrick Marleau, Scott Niedermayer, and Marc-Andre Fleury. I am currently 23-23-4. I am third in my division and 6th overall in my league. I am only three games back in my division and know I can make the up and get back to first place. Check back next week and every week to see how I do in Fantasy Hockey.

Basketball Weekly

This week was the first week of the new NBA Season and my fantasy team did quite well. I went 6-2 meaning I won six categories and lost two. Here is how it looked in the end

Hollywood's World of Sports 6-2-0
Team Russo 2-6-0

The categories I won were FG%, 3PM, REB, AST, BLK, and PTS. I barely lost the other two categories. Some of my players played extremely well this week. My players of the week include Ben Gordon, Trevor Ariza, Dwight Howard, Steve Nash, and Ray Allen. This puts me in 1st place in my division and 1st place in the league. I have good group of players on my team this year and hope that they bring me some success. The Lakers, the Celtics, and the Magic are all picking up right where they left off. It should be an interesting year for the Lakers and Celtics considering everyone is expecting both teams to be in the finals. Only time will tell if there is a rematch from two years ago. Check back next week and every week to see how I do in Fantasy Basketball.

NFL Poll Results

Before the beginning of the year started I put two polls up asking which NFC and AFC team would be in the Super Bowl. It is now the half way point of the year and here is how people voted.

NFC
New Orleans Saints- 33%
Detroit Lions- 27% (someone or many people must have been drunk when they voted)
New York Giants- 11%
Green Bay Packers- 11%
St Louis Rams- 5%
Dallas Cowboys- 5%
San Fransisco 49ers- 5%
Minnesota Vikings- 3%

AFC
Indianapolis Colts- 25%
Pittsburgh Steelers- 25%
New England Patriots- 18%
Cleveland Browns- 12% (see the Detroit Lions reference)
New York Jets- 6%
Denver Broncos- 6%
Baltimore Ravens- 6%
Cincinatti Bengals- 2%

So there you have it, the fans have spoken. The Saints might be dead on, and in the AFC it's always a toss up. We have nine more weeks to figure out who will even make the playoffs. Thanks for your participation.

Open Letter to Quinton "Rampage" Jackson

To Quinton "Rampage" Jackson:

After watching your recent explosion on the Ultimate Fighter, it would appear that you made the right decision to quit the UFC all together. However you should have quit after you fought Rashad Evans. Everything Rashad has said about you is true. He said he was going to make you quit your career and sure enough he did. You can make all the excuses you want about making the A-Team movie or saying you quit because of the fans. The fans are the ones who support you and make you money so can have a good life.

I've always thought you were somewhat overrated to begin with. People made a big deal about you beating Wanderlei Silva but it wasn't a big deal because Silva pretty much killed you the first two times you met. Granted you have beaten Chuck Liddell, Keith Jardine, Kevin Randleman, and Dan Henderson. However could beat Rashad Evans, Lyoto Machida, Mauricio Rua, and even Tito Ortiz? Perhaps we will never know because you decided to quit like a little baby.

You talked all this trash about you could knockout Rashad Evans but no you won't back it up. You're a coward for running away like a little punk. UFC 106 was suppose to headlined by you and Rashad Evans but now it is headlined by a Lightweight Championship bout between BJ Penn (c) and Diego Sanchez. That's a good fight but not one that should headline the last fight of the year. It should have been Evans vs. Jackson. I hope someday you wake up and look in the mirror and realize how stupid you really are for quitting. I hope you also realize that you are a coward and everything Rashad said about you and did to you was true. If you are any kind of a fighter you would fight Rashad Evans and prove that you are as good as you say you are. The UFC and MMA does not need you. You're no big lost. You'll eventually come to realize that you need the UFC and MMA for you to even be relevant in the world. Good luck Rampage, I hope you know what you're doing.

Hollywood Joe Williamson

On a side note, Rampage Jackson will be sentenced on January 7, 2010 for felony reckless driving, and felony hit and run after striking several vehicles. If he is convicted he could face up to 3 years in prison. Just thought I'd throw that out there. The incident he's being charged with happened ten days after he lost the Light Heavyweight Championship to Forrest Griffin in 2008. What bothers me about this, is Dana White and the UFC should have gotten rid of him then but they didn't. They helped him out and gave me another chance to redeem himself. This is how he repays the favor. He walks out on the company and the fans that supported him.

Two Huge Matches Signed for Survivor Series

On November 22nd, it will truly be a night to remember when Survivor Series is on pay-per-view. WWE has not had two pay-per-views back to back that have been solid and have been worth watching in a long time. WWE Bragging Rights was a good pay-per-view despite what anyone says. Now they are building up Survivor Series to be one great show. The first match was announced this past Monday on Raw and it my opinion it could go down as the greatest WWE Championship match of all time.

It will be WWE Champion John Cena taking on Triple H and Shawn Michaels in a triple threat match. Triple and HBK are still in DX mode and an inevitable breakup of the group is foreseen. There is a lot of history in this match. Cena defeated HHH and HBK at Wrestlemania's 22 and 23 respectively. HHH and HBK have had some great matches in the past and will be probably recapture the magic they have always has opponents. As a wrestling fan I would like to see Shawn Michaels win the WWE Championship again. The Showstopper has only held the four times in great career and has not held a World Championship since 2002. Triple H is a 13 time champion and John Cena is now a 7 time champion. I personally think Shawn still has the best matches, still tells the best stories in the ring and is still loved by more people then just about anyone on the WWE roster. This match could easily go down as one of the best matches of all time. A lot of people still think that the greatest triple threat match of all time was HHH vs. HBK vs. Benoit at Wrestlemania 20. I think WWE is trying to make sure this match has that same feeling. No one really expects Shawn to win the match but you never know. Anything is possible pro wrestling.

This is not the only triple threat match at Survivor Series. Last night at the Smackdown tapings it was determined that the World Heavyweight Champion The Undertaker would be defending against the Big Show and Chris Jericho. This will mark the 19th anniversary since The Undertakers arrival in the WWE. He's done a lot of great things since then and will continue to do so until he retires. However the Big Show has had a lot of success at Survivor Series. In 1999, he defeated Triple H and The Rock for the WWE Championship after defeating a whole entire team earlier in the night. Then in 2002, Big Show handed Brock Lesnar his first lost and won the WWE Championship in the process. Could this be the Big Shows night once again. Will will have to wait and see.

It's kind of weird that they are breaking up DX and the unified tag team champions. I think some big things are going to happen for everyone involved in these two huge main event matches. The WWE is really trying to get momentum again. Look at all thats happened. Shane McMahon has left, Linda McMahon has left and the other wrestling company is making moves to get themselves noticed. The WWE is looking to pull out all the stops and get fans interested again. The crazy thing is that this is only part of the pay-per-view. There are four to five matches left to be announced. This is truly going to be an awesome PPV and on November 22nd I will be watching. Stay tuned for more matches to be announced.

Hulk Hogan Signs With TNA Wrestling

In a shocking announcement yesterday Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff have signed with TNA Wrestling. Finally the talking is done and something has been done. This is huge for TNA Wrestling. I know a lot of people say Hogan is old and washed up but he's still a name, he is still one of the greatest of all time. With Hogan and Bischoff in TNA, other stars who were fired by WWE will probably have a chance to be in TNA. I think TNA is small competition for WWE. The biggest thing that Hogan and Bischoff need to do is not go into this with the mind frame of not trying to put Vince McMahon and WWE out of business. They need to worry about making TNA a better business, and not worry about the WWE.

This definitely has gotten my attention and the attention of wrestling fans worldwide. I believe TNA has finally gotten where at where they can be considered a great wrestling company. I will definitely be watching TNA Impact and see how this develops. Could the wrestling wars be started again? Hulkamania is running wild again and TNA Whatcha Gonna Do when Hulkamania Runs Wild on You?

NFL Week 7 Recap

Well there were a lot of blowouts this week and one team is no long undefeated. The Steelers beat the Vikings giving them their first lost of the year. The Saints and the Dolphins played one heck of a game Sunday which saw New Orleans remain undefeated. The Buffalo Bills beat the Carolina Panthers which disgusts me in every way imaginable. Tampa Bay and St. Louis still haven't won a game and Washington, Oakland, and Kansas City still look like they shouldn't win any games period. In fantasy football this week it was better. In My Yahoo League here is how it turned out.

Hollywood's Rejects 167.36
Just 'till Hockey 134.49

My highest point earner was Pittsburgh's defense. This win put me at 3-4 for the year which isn't to bad I guess. In my ESPN league I lost again but barely.

Hollywoods World of Sports (HWOO) (1-6)53
Chaaa- gers. (PAUL)(2-5) 56

My highest point earner was Ricky Williams who did some damage this week. He had three touchdowns. I am now 1-6 in the ESPN League with no hopes of even winning it. There are a lot of teams with no hope of winning. Teams like the Lions, Browns, Raiders, Rams, Redskins and the Bucs. I feel like all of those teams. The teams I want to feel like are the Broncos, Colts and Saints. They are actually getting the job done this year. Well I will be back with my predictions tomorrow so stay tuned for that.

Breaking News: Lesnar-Carwin Fight Postponed

Due to Brock Lesnar being very ill and having to miss a month of training he has pulled out of his UFC Heavyweight Title match against Shane Carwin for UFC 106 in November. Fortunately the return of Tito Ortiz taking on Forrest Griffin is also on that same card so atleast they have a solid match to headline the show. One has to wonder what fight will replace it. The UFC promised two big matches for this show and now there is only one. It will be interesting to see who fights at UFC 106. Stay tuned for more on this story.

A New Opponent for Tito Ortiz at UFC 106

It was announced a few weeks ago that Mark Coleman will not be fighting Tito Ortiz at UFC 106 in Tito's return match. Tito Ortiz is now facing Forrest Griffin. This is not the first time they have fought. They fought at UFC 59: Reality Check and Tito won by by split decision with scores of 30-27, 28-29, 29-27. I remember watching this fight and it was a classic. I thought Griffin won but the judges did not see it that way. Forrest Griffin has not been seen or heard from since his embarrassing lost against Anderson Silva at UFC 101. Griffin has lost his last two fights. The other one was against Rashad Evans at UFC 92 when Griffin lost the UFC Light Heavyweight Title. Tito's last appearance was at UFC 84: Ill Will when he lost to Lyoto Machida. Ortiz has not won a fight in three years and that was against Ken Shamrock at Ortiz vs. Shamrock 3: The Final Chapter which was on Spike TV. Both fighters have a lot to prove in this fight and I cannot wait to see what happens when they fight again. That's not the only big match at UFC 106.

There will also a match for the UFC Heavyweight Championship between Brock Lesnar (c) and challenger Shane Carwin. A lot has been said by both men leading up to this fight but if you ask me Lesnar will win. Carwin has not fought anyone big like Mir, Couture, or Herring. Lesnar has fought all three men and beat them convincingly. It will be a one sided fight and Lesnar will easily retain his title. Some other notable fights include:

Middleweight bout: Kendall Grove vs. Jake Rosholt
Light Heavyweight bout: Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Luiz Arthur Cane

This should be a very good UFC pay-per-view and I cannot wait to see it. It will be a November to remember for the UFC.
