Review, Recap, Results of WWE Money in the Bank 2016

Tonight was the annual Money in the Bank pay-per-view and many were calling the greatest Money in the Bank pay-per-view ever before they even got there. The card looked pretty good on paper and going into it I was intriigued to see if it would deliver. Before I begin with my thoughts here are the results of the show,

-Preshow: Golden Truth defeated Breezango

-Preshow: Lucha Dragons defeated The Dudley

-The New Day defeated The Club, The Vaudevillians, and Enzo/Big Cass to retain the WWE Tag Team Championships

-Baron Corbin defeated Dolph Ziggler

-Charlotte/Dana Brooke defeated Natalya/Becky Lynch

-Apollo Crews defeated Sheamus

-AJ Styles defeated John Cena

-Dean Ambrose wins the Money in the Bank Ladder Match

-Rusev defeated Titus O'Neill to retain the United States Championship

-Seth Rollins defeated Roman Reigns to win the WWE Championship

-Dean Ambrose cashes in the Money in the Bank Briefcase on Seth Rollins to win the WWE Championship.

The opening match featured four of the top tag teams in the land. The action was fast and furious but the referee screwed up and the wrong man got pinned. Other than that the match was very fun to watch. I think Baron Corbin and Dolph Ziggler are two very good performers but after two months their matches have gotten old. It's time for Corbin to move on to someone else and start being built as a monster wrecking machine. I enjoyed Corbin's first run in NXT when he was running through guys and the crowd counted how long it took him to beat someone. I believe that's Corbin we need to see for a few months. 

Charlotte and Dana Brooke make a good pairing because of how cocky they are. I love the women's division and I love even more that Natalya attacked Becky after the match. I think it's time that Nattie had a chip on her shoulder. She's been very misused for a long time. I really hope that this turn of events gets her some momentum and win one more championship before her career. Speaking of momentum I am glad Apollo Crews is getting some momentum. I think Crews has a very bright future ahead of him.He is a very well rounded performer and you never know what he's going to do in the ring. 

The match 15 years in the making took place in John Cena and AJ Styles. It was a very compelling match and that seems to be a trend with John Cena at Money in the Bank. This was a great match and I am glad Styles won regardless of how it was done. Styles needed a victory desperately because he has not won a match on pay-per-view since February. I look forward to see what happens with Styles and The Club throughout the rest of summer. The six men who were in the Money in the Bank ladder match were perfect for it. There were so many great spots in this match. All six men took a beating and put their hear and souls on the line. The fact that Dean Ambrose has the briefcase is very long overdue. I believe he is going to ignite a feud between all three former members from The Shield. I believe that this should be the main event at Summerslam. Rusev and Titus did not have a whole of time to work with but they had a decent match for what they had. 

The Main Event featured a returning Seth Rollins challenging for the title he never lost against Roman Reigns. I am glad they are finally having Reigns work as a heel. That's what needed to happen from the start. The company should have learned from what the had to do with Reigns' cousin The Rock. People did not like the babyface golden boy character and in the end The Rock changed everything about his character. It is because of the change that The Rock went on to become an icon in Hollywood and in WWE. Seth Rollins looked good in his first televised match back. Seth Rollins got his justice and reclaimed the title that he never lost. However after the match Dean Ambrose did what he said he was going to do and that's cash in and win the title. As I said before this is going to make an interesting summer and I see a triple threat match on the horizon. The Ladder Match, Styles/Cena and the Championship Match really helped this pay-per-view succeed. I am going to give it a 7 out of 10 for effort and the fact the matches were solid. Hopefully this will lead to some big things headed into the draft and into Summerslam. 

Review of Central Intelligence

Many years ago when The Rock left the WWE to pursue Hollywood I was very angry over it. Over time he began starring in some really great movies and has made a name outside of pro wrestling. However making that name has helped garner more exposure for WWE whenever he's returned home. Prior to watching Central Intelligence my favorite movies that he starred in are Pain and Gain, Be Cool and Faster. This movie without a doubt is now in my all time favorite movies that showcase The Rock. For a year when I checked social media he and Kevin Hart each recorded video of them talking trash, trying to upstage each other and having a lot of fun on set.. Kevin Hart has always been so fun to watch no matter what he is in. My favorite role of his happens to be his role in Think Like a Man and Think Like a Man 2. He's all over the place in those movies and you almost never know what's going to say.

When you combine the talent of two funny man there is bound to be a lot of laughter. The Rock and Hart were also joined by Aaron Paul, Amy Ryan, Megan Park, Jason Bateman and a special cameo by someone who brings a lot laughter in all the movies she is in. Some action comedy movies really are cheesy and get off point sometimes but this movie stayed on point while being extremely hilarious. If you are a wrestling fan you can definitely tell The Rock's character was inspired a little by professional wrestling. The fanny pack was a huge thing in wrestling back in the 80's and 90's. The whole unicorn thing had to been inspired by The New Day which makes it even funnier. 

I don't like giving away movies or what's in them but if you love The Rock or Kevin Hart's work in the past then you will love this movie. It's movies like these that I am glad  The Rock went and conquered Hollywood. A movie like this makes him successful and in turn he brings that success back to WWE. If you need a good laugh, if you're a WWE fan who still enjoys The Rock's work or if you love Kevin Hart's work then this movie is a must see. The only thing I am going to say is to be sure to watch the outtakes once the movie is over. They are just as hilarious as the actual movie itself. Be sure to check out Central Intelligence when you can. I honestly hope that Kevin Hart and The Rock do more work together in the future! 

Results, Review, Recap of WWE NXT Takeover: The End

Tonight's NXT Takeover event was dubbed "The End." Going into the show I had no idea what the end meant. Did it mean the end of NXT, the end of Samoa Joe-Finn Balor or the end of something else. Regardless the show was incredible and as always it delivered. Before I begin with my thoughts here are the results of Takeover.

-Andrade "Cien" Almas defeated Tye Dillinger
-The Revival defeated American Alpha to win the NXT Tag Team Championships

-Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Austin Aries 

-Asuka defeated Nia Jax to retain the NXT Women's Championship

-Samoa Joe defeated Finn Balor to retain the NXT Championship

I really enjoyed the debut of Andrade Almas. He's very unique but I feel like the crowd wasn't into him much because they are fully supporting Dillinger. Dillinger has been a very valuable asset to WWE. In recent month he has helped prepare Sami Zayn and Seth Rollins prepare for their returns. He makes a lot of talent look good and sometimes that gets rewarded. Speaking of rewards I really believe American Alpha and The Revival are the future of the tag team division. I would personally see either team win WWE Tag Team Gold. This was a phenomenal match which featured everything that a tag team match should be. After the match The Authors of Pain made their debut with legendary manager Paul Ellering. That's how you make an impact.

Since arriving to NXT Shinsuke Nakamura has made a huge impact. His style is so great and  he is such a unique personality. I knew he and Aries would have a great match but I will be the first to admit it's kind of hard to live up to what Nakamura did with Sami Zayn back in April. The other thing thats hard to live up to is the women's matches we saw the first two years of NXT on the WWE Network. I will be the first to admit that I was skeptical of Asuka and Nia Jax because it's the Four Horsewomen, Paige or Emma. I was pleasantly surprised on the psychology and the delivery of the match. I tip my cap to both women and I hope to see them both compete against each other again. 

Before the main event Bobby Roode was caught going into William Regal's office which created some speculation about the Main Event. The Main Event was the first ever Steel Cage Match in NXT. Samoa Joe and Finn Balor went to war and what a war it was. I had a feeling it would be a great match. At the end of the night Samoa Joe hit an awesome Muscle Buster to retain his NXT Title.

I still don't know what "The End" means but the show was another quality show and proves why NXT is the hottest thing in wrestling and the WWE Network.

The Summer of Brock Lesnar

I remember back in 2005 when CM Punk was on his way out of Ring of Honor and headed to the WWE and they called his final run in ROH "The Summer of Punk." At UFC 199, the company made a historical landmark announcement that Brock Lesnar would return at UFC 200 to fight one more time inside the octagon. You might be asking why is this a big deal? Brock Lesnar became a WWE Superstar again in 2012 and has a contract until 2018 with the company. This is the first time in history that a contracted WWE Star will be fight in the octagon. The MMA and Wrestling world's have been talking non-stop since this news broke. The news was so big that Ariel Helwani lost his credentials and has been banned from UFC for life for leaking the news earlier then Dana White wanted it to. This news has a lot of significance and this summer one man will significantly impact two separate worlds.

For Vince McMahon to allow one of his performers to compete outside of his company is completely unheard of. I can only recall of one other time in my lifetime that Vince allowed something like this to happen. In 2000, when Mike Awesome left ECW to go to WCW while he was under contract with ECW he had threatened to bring the ECW title to Monday Nitro and throw it in the trash. This was not a storyline, this was a very legitimate real life situation. Four months earlier Vince had signed away Taz and The Dudley Boys to come to WWE. He felt that he was helping Paul Heyman and ECW out by sending Taz back to ECW to take the title off of Mike Awesome. It was the first and only time during the Monday Night Wars that a WWE Star took on a WCW Star. History was made in 2000 and 16 years later history will be made again.

I don't need to go through all of Lesnar's accomplishments but in case you have forgotten he is a NCAA Division 1 Champion, All American, IWGP Heavyweight Champion, four time WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Royal Rumble Winner, King of the Ring Winner and a former UFC Heavyweight Champion. There a lot of guys out there who have done both MMA and pro wrestling but none have been successful as Lesnar. There are guys like Dan Severn, Ken Shamrock, Daniel Puder, Bobby Lashley, Tank Abbott, Josh Barnett and Bob Sapp. All of them were either successful in one or the other but not both. The three who come close to Lesnar are Severn, Shamrock and Lashley. A lot of people might argue that point but Lesnar made a huge impact in both in a very short amount of time.

I believe Lesnar's appearance at UFC 200 is good for WWE in so many ways. Lesnar fights on July 9th and WWE Summerslam is 21st. If Lesnar wins this fight that will heighten what ever storyline he is in headed into Summerslam. It was also elevate whoever opponent is at WWE's second biggest pay-per-view of the year. I cannot wait until July 9th when this begins and will be intrigued all the way until August 21st to see how Lesnar's summer ends. If you love both MMA and pro wrestling like I do then this is going to be a fun summer to be a fan of both. The Summer of Lesnar is upon us so be prepared or you might end up in Suplex City!
