Bulls-Cetlics: Best Series Ever?

First off I would like to say thank you to Kevin Garnett for being injured because if he were playing this series with Celtics and Bulls would be done by now. However this series has been one of the best series in recent memory. The series has featured three overtimes, one of them being double overtime. The largest margin of victory in any game has been has been twenty one. The other four games have been decided by three points or less. Some of their games are already be dubbed instant classics and have been shown on ESPN Classic. The Celtics lead the series three games to two over the Bulls. It is really great to see playoff basketball be exciting for the Bulls again. If Chicago can somehow beat the Celtic and win the series, it could be considered one of the best comebacks and upsets in history. I cannot wait until game six tomorrow night on TNT. I am sure it will be another classic.

Talladega has wild ending

Watching Talladega yesterday reminded me of how dangerous NASCAR can be. Carl Edwards is lucky to be alive right now. He took a really hard hit on the last lap. Others who took some hard hits were Clint Bowyer and Robby Gordon. The video speaks for itself.

Carl Edwards gained my respect yesterday by walking across the finish line. Unfortunately it was his car that didn't make across. Congratulation to Brad Keselowski on his first win yesterday. He is a protege for Dale Earnhardt Jr. so I guess I am happy about his win. Junior finished second which helped him a great deal in the points and maybe gained some momentum he didn't have. Next stop is Richmond on Saturday night and I am sure tempers will be flaring there too. I love Saturday Night races.

Did the Lions fail the Draft

Many were wondering what the Detroit Lions were going to do in this years draft and here is who they picked up this year.

Round 1, Pick 1 (1) Matthew Stafford QB 6'2" 225 Georgia
Round 1, Pick 20 (20) (From Cowboys) Brandon Pettigrew TE 6'5" 263 Oklahoma State
Round 2, Pick 1 (33) Louis Delmas CB 6'0" 202 Western Michigan
Round 3, Pick 12 (76) (From Saints through Jets) DeAndre Levy OLB 6'2" 236 Wisconsin
Round 3, Pick 18 (82) (From Cowboys) Derrick Williams WR 6'0" 194 Penn State
Round 4, Pick 15 (115) (From Redskins through Jets) Sammie Lee Hill DT 6'4" 329 Stillman
Round 6, Pick 19 (192) (From Cowboys) Aaron Brown RB 6'1" 196 TCU
Round 7, Pick 19 (228) (From Jets) Lydon Murtha OT 6'7" 306 Nebraska
Round 7, Pick 26 (235) (From Falcons through Broncos) Zack Follett OLB 6'2" 236 California
Round 7, Pick 46 (255) (Compensatory selection) Dan Gronkowski TE 6'6" 255 Maryland

So after viewing all this I really don't know how I feel. In my mind they should addressed their offensive line needs because without an offensive line you can't throw and you can't run. The only reason the defense sucks is because their out on the field for 80 percent of the game and have no time to rest or catch a breath. The Lions better start making more moves and make them quick. They need an offensive line and they need one before they get better. Here is the Detroit Lions Schedule for 2009

Regular Season
1 Sep 13 DET @ NO Superdome 1:00 PM
2 Sep 20 MIN @ DET Ford Field 1:00 PM
3 Sep 27 WAS @ DET Ford Field 1:00 PM
4 Oct 04 DET @ CHI Soldier Field 1:00 PM
5 Oct 11 PIT @ DET Ford Field 1:00 PM
6 Oct 18 DET @ GB Lambeau Field 1:00 PM
7 Bye
8 Nov 01 STL @ DET Ford Field 1:00 PM
9 Nov 08 DET @ SEA Qwest Field 4:05 PM
10 Nov 15 DET @ MIN Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome
11 Nov 22 CLE @ DET Ford Field 1:00 PM
12 Nov 26 GB @ DET Ford Field 12:30 PM
13 Dec 06 DET @ CIN Paul Brown Stadium 1:00 PM
14 Dec 13 DET @ BAL M&T Bank Stadium 1:00 PM
15 Dec 20 ARI @ DET Ford Field 1:00 PM
16 Dec 27 DET @ SF Candlestick Park 4:05PM
17 Jan 03 CHI @ DET Ford Field 1:00 PM

I thought the worst team was suppose to have the easiest schedule but judging from this they will be lucky to win 2 games, 3 at most. I am not going to say anymore. The picks and the schedule say it all. The Lions are screwed and screwed royally. Thank God I am a Carolina Panthers fan. I'll address them tomorrow because they aren't making great choices right now either. Stay tuned for more on the NFL Off season

What went wrong with the Pistons in 2008-09

Well the Detroit Pistons got swept right out of the playoffs yesterday in the first round. Joe Dumars hasn't been one to make stupid moves too often but he did this year.

Stupid Move 1- Hiring Michael Curry as the Head Coach when there was more qualified candidates out there. I don't thing the starting lineup was ever the same two nights in a row and if it was they sure didn't play like it. This year I saw some of the worst coaching I have ever seen watching the Pistons.

Stupid Move 2- Trading Chauncey Billups to the Nuggets for Allen Iverson. You should have gotten a team player and not a ball hog. I am glad his contract is up and he is no longer a Piston. Dumars wrote the season off before it began which is something you should never do because it's not fair to your fans or the other players who bust their butts to be on a winning team.

Stupid Move 3- Not losing on purpose to miss the playoffs. I know it sounds weird that I would say this but if they would have missed the playoffs they would have gotten a possible lottery pick in the NBA Draft. I would have preferred they miss the playoffs instead of getting embarrassed by the Cavaliers.

I really hope that the 2009-10 season is better and the Pistons will get back to their winning ways. I'll be curious to see what they do in the off season and who they get in the draft. Only time will tell if the Pistons can reclaim their glory.

Hollywood's Rejects Players of the Week

So this week I lost by one half point which has got me a little crazy. I can't believe I've lost two in a row which now puts me at 1-2 and in seventh place. I am just in shock right now. Here is the final score

Julia's Jackals (JACK)(1-2) 209
Hollywood's Rejects (HWOO)(1-2) 208.5

My top pitchers for the week were Armando Gallaraga(been saying that a few times this year already) and Andy Pettite. They both pitched great for me this week. Jair Jurrjens pitched good as well but Pettite and Gallaraga are my top two this week. My top batters for the week should be no surprise and that's Brandon Inge and Kevin Youkilis. Both had great weeks. Rick Ankiel played great as well for me. I hope to I can get back on my winning ways this week, because my team is a lot better then what they are currently doing. This week I got my good buddy Luke Fischer, and nothing would please me more then to beat him. I'll be back next Monday with more fantasy baseball stuff.

The Age of Orton begins again at Backlash

Last night at WWE Backlash three new champions were crowned in what was a very good pay-per-view. The first match saw ECW Champion Jack Swagger defend his title against Christian. It was a very good opening match which saw Christian take home the ECW Championship. Next up you had Ricky "the Dragon" Steamboat take on Chris Jericho. It was a match to see. Steamboat at his age has still got the heart and the skill to perform in the ring. I love how the fans chant "You still got it." Even the Jericho beat the Hall of Famer, it was an awesome match that many soon won't forget. Up next was CM Punk taking on Kane. This was a good solid match between both of them, and surprisingly Kane beat Punk. They that I Quit are the two most humiliating words you could say in wrestling. Hardy vs. Hardy has been one of those feuds that you can't buy into because you realize and understand how close they are. It was a good knock down drag out of a fight which saw Matt begging for his life, but he ended up quitting and Jeff won the match. Next up was the 6-man for the WWE Championship and Orton spent have the match in the back. It was a wild match that saw Orton punt Triple H in the skull and regain the WWE Championship thus the Age of Orton begins again tonight on Raw. No word if Triple H's injury angle will last long or not. I am glad Orton pinned HHH because that's the right way to end the match. And then finally, the Last Man Standing to one the greatest feuds in a long time. John Cena and Edge both brought it last night and with an assist from the Big Show, Edge regained his World Heavyweight Championship, making him a nine time World Champion. It was a decent pay-per-view that only had 6 matches so it wasn't too bad. I think one more match would have been nice instead of Santino Marella, and the Great Khali doing their garbage. Oh well, it's sports entertainment.

What's with the New Yankee Stadium

In the off season the Yankees got Mark Teixeira, A.J. Burnett, Nick Swisher, and C.C. Sabathia. They also got a new stadium. I know it's early in the season but was the money well spent and worth it? Sabathia has been nothing more then sub-par, Swisher has been carrying the load, Burnett has been lights out, and Teixeira has yet to make an impact. Then you have the new Yankee stadium which almost seems like the Yanks created their own personal hell. I saw some stats yesterday and I saw that 26 home runs have been hit out in the first 6 games there. That is ridiculous and I don't know how they are going to win their division with a park that is hitter friendly. I mean it's probably become with the most hitter friendly park in baseball right now. They should have been smart like that Tigers and made it a pitcher friendly park, because Comerica didn't not have that many home runs hit out of there the first month in existence. I hope they make some changes in the off season, or at least make the walls higher.

Speaking of New York, whats up with the Mets? I guess they may have wasted their money as well. They got J.J. Putz, and Francisco Rodriguez but how are you suppose to use them if the starters can't get through the 5th inning. I predicted before the season began that it would be a New York-New York World Series. I think I am going to backtrack on the statement and get back to you all in August when things look a little better. For now, all I got to say is I am no longer in a New York state of mind.

Five more years

Yesterday the Carolina Panthers signed Quarterback Jake Delhomme to a five year deal worth 42 million. You mean to tell me you couldn't find a better QB with that kind of money? I am not sure how happy I am about this decision considering this guy is the same guy who threw five interceptions in a playoff game against the Arizona Cardinals. Jake has a lot to prove right, and he better prove us all wrong because I honestly don't think Panther nation is to happy about this move. I really hope they find away to better their offense in the draft because their defense is what was so good about last year. The draft is tomorrow so I guess we will have to wait and see.

This Sunday is WWE Backlash and I am hoping that this Pay-Per-View will be off the charts. All the matches look very promising but I think the ECW title match is going to steal the show. Hollywood's Rejects Players of the Week

Well week 2 has concluded in fantasy baseball for me and I lost a back and forth game this week which makes me 1-1.

Hollywood's Rejects (HWOO)(1-1) 178.5
I Drop Panties (IDP)(1-1) 197

My top pitchers were Gavin Floyd and Armando Gallaraga who pitched magnificently for me. My top hitters were Mike Cameron and Kevin Youkilis who both had solid weeks. Some of my guys struggled this week but I am sure they will all rebound. I got a great solid team in front of me and I hope I will have a good year. Stay tuned until next week for my players of the week.

Mick Foley wins TNA Heavyweight Title at Lockdown

Last night was a historical night at TNA Lockdown. It saw a lot of things happen. Team 3D(the Dudleys) won the TNA Tag Team titles becoming 22 time tag team champions. That's huge. A lot of people say that they are the greatest tag team of all time. That's hard for me to say because I watched the Road Warrior, the Outsiders, Freebirds, Tully/Arn, and others. I would say this, they are among the greatest tag teams of all time but not the greatest. Then you had the Team Jarrett vs. Team Angle(Main Event Mafia) which was totally awesome seeing all the stars in there at the same time. The biggest shocker game at the end of the match when Bobby Lashley made his debut in TNA. Yes, that is correct former WWE United States and ECW Champion made his debut last night for TNA leaving the fans and the wrestlers in shock. And then finally, a rematch 17 years in the making, Sting vs. Foley for the TNA Heavyweight Championship. It was one of the best matches I've seen from TNA. Some people are saying that Lockdown was better then Wrestlemania 25. I am not sure about that statement but it was a good solid PPV, one of the better ones they have had. So here's whats going on in TNA, Foley is champ, Lashley debut's, Taz might be coming to TNA and Danny Bonaduce lost to Eric Young last night and got gored by Rhino. Overall a pretty interesting night in TNA last night. I'll be interested to see what happens next.

My First Two Lacrosse Games

This past Thursday I experienced something new, something exciting and something I fell in love with or so it seems. In all my years watching and covering sports the one thing I have never done is attended a lacrosse game. My cousin Kyle Detmers has been playing lacrosse for nine years now and have never been to one of his games so on Thursday evening I wandered over to Davenport University's field house for their game against Aquinas. It was a gorgeous sunny day for it. I didn't realize how physical the game was until I saw it up close. However this game was pretty one sided. At halftime Davenport had scored 16 goals and 25 shots on goal while Aquinas has 4 goals with only 8 shots on goal. At Halftime I took a little tour around the field house and has got state of the art equipment and it is absolutely gorgeous to be in there. They have a lot of flat screen TV's, an awesome fitness center. The coolest part of it is that the cafe upstairs overlooks the field where they play lacrosse and soccer. Now back to the game. It didn't take long for Davenport to get going again. The final score was Davenport 33(59 shots on goal) and Aquinas 6(18 shots on goal). Kyle was credited with one assist and picked up quite a few ground balls. Oh I might add that those 33 goals was a Davenport school record.

Now onto Saturday Night at Lowell high school. The Panthers took on the Ferris State Bulldogs. This game was absolutely more intense then the first game I went to. It got physical, a little dirty and then some. Kyle plays defense and as most people know when you are on defense you don't score a whole lot. Well for me the highlight of the night game when Kyle scored a goal in the first half. At halftime Davenport had scored 8 goals with 18 shots on goal and Ferris State had one goal with 14 shots on goal. This game I was a little bit more acquainted with who the players were. Actually at halftime #44 RJ Bogdanski was walking around the stands looking for Powerade so I gave him mine to take a swig from. It was a cool moment. There was a few guys that really stood out to me, Shawn Beer, who is an absolute scoring machine. He looks like one of those players who could change the complexion of any game at anytime. Another guy I was impressed with Jeff Samuels, who has Bruce Lee like reflexes when he is out there. This kid can move and I mean move fast. I am really surprised his not a running back on a football team somewhere. He reminds of Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson. What impressed me even more is how fast the ball moves when he shoots. I thought I was watching a tennis ball being served. It was that quick. I know if I was a goalie I would dread having to defend against him. A few other guy who stood out were Fabian Morales, Jordan Richtsmeier, Adam Bower and Dan Catzere. I mean really all the players stand out in their own ways, but these are the guys that really caught my attention and who I familiarized myself with. The Final Score was Davenport 14(38 shots on goal) Ferris State(35 shots on goal.) It was definitely a game to watch. I know I'll be watching more lacrosse for many years to come. It is definitely a sport I can get into.

On a final and personal I would like to say this, Kyle Detmers is more then just my cousin. He's my best friend and like another brother to me. I once heard the story of why he wanted to play lacrosse. He said it looked fun to run around and hit people with sticks. I am proud of the person and player he has become. If you live in the West Michigan Area be sure to check out the Davenport Panther Lacrosse team. For more info go to http://dupanthers.cstv.com/sports/m-lacros/dave-m-lacros-body.html

Gary Sheffield Hits 500th Home Run

On Friday night Gary Sheffield may have hit his way into the Hall of Fame by hitting his 500th Home Run. He was at 499 when released by the Detroit Tigers this spring and as he said everything happens for a reason. Sheffield has been marred by controversy over the years but has become more humbled as his career has gone on. Sheffield is among five active players to hit 500 Home Runs, a list that includes Ken Griffey Jr. (613), Alex Rodriguez (553), Jim Thome (543) and Manny Ramirez (527). Sheffield also joins Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Barry Bonds, Frank Robinson and Reggie Jackson as the only players with 500 homers plus at least 2,500 hits, 1,500 RBIs and 200 stolen bases. Thank you baseball-reference.com for those numbers. Gary Sheffield in my mind is definitely a Hall of Famer and will be when his career is over. The funny thing is his 500th home run was his first hit as a New York Met. Congratulations to Garry Sheffield on an awesome accomplishment.

Three hit for the Cycle in 1 Week

It's definitely been an interesting week in baseball but what made it fun is that three players hit for the cycle in a 7 day week. I believe it's happen two times in the history of major league baseball and it happen in 1885 and 1970. For those of you who don't what the cycle is, it's when a play hits a single, a double, a triple and a home run in the same game. It does not have to be in that order. However if it's in that order it is called natural cycle. Only fourteen men have ever done that. Anyways here is the list from 1885 and 1970. (baseball-reference.com)

June 12, 1885 Dave Orr New York (AA)
June 13, 1885 George Wood Detroit
June 16, 1885 Henry Larkin Philadelphia (AA)

July 2, 1970 Tony Horton Cleveland
July 6, 1970 Tommie Agee New York (NL)
July 8, 1970 Jim Ray Hart San Francisco

Well this week three men hit for the cycle and the names kind of took me by surprise because they are not known for being superstars. Here is who hit for the Cycle this week

April 13, 2009 Orlando Hudson Los Angeles (NL)
April 15, 2009 Ian Kinsler Texas
April 17, 2009 Jason Kubel Minnesota

There are only three major league teams that have not had a player hit for the cycle and those are the San Diego Padres, Florida Marlins and Tampa Bay Rays. Also no player has ever hit for the cycle in a post-season game. A cycle is fun to watch but Kubel's was the funnest to watch this week because he hit a Grand Slam to get the cycle and win the game for his team. Congrats to all three guys who hit for the cycle, and hopefully their will be more to come this year.

UFC 100 Fight Card

On July 11th the UFC will celebrate their 100th PPV and it looks like a big one. Here are the matches that they will be broadcasting on PPV.

Brock Lesnar Vs. Frank Mir for the UFC Heavyweight Championship
Georges St-Pierre Vs. Thiago Alves for the UFC Welterweight Championship
Jon Fitch Vs. Paulo Thiago
Dan Henderson Vs. Michael Bisping
Yoshihiro Akiyama Vs. Alan Belcher
Mark Coleman Vs. Stephan Bonnar- May not be on the main card

I personally cannot wait for this to happen. Lesnar and Mir are finally going to fight and I for one cannot wait to see Lesnar and Mir go at it. I also think Dan Henderson and Michael Bisping are going to steal the show and have the best fight of that night. July 11th cannot come soon enough but for now I would just to congratulate UFC on their continuing success in the sports world.

John Madden Retires

The voice of the NFL has officially said goodbye. John Madden has decided to retire at the age of 73. John Madden is one of the greatest sports broadcasters of all time.

Here are some his accomplishments from profootballhof.com

* Super Bowl XI victory (1976)
* 1969 Pro Football Weekly NFL Coach of the Year
* 103-32-7 (regular season record)
* 9-7 (playoff record)
* 112-39-7 (overall record)

Career stats
Win-Loss Record 103-32-7
Winning % 76.3
Games 142

He did a lot a great work for all the NFL Games he was broadcasting. The man is an ICON in every sense of the word. He even has a game named after him that's been running for a long time, since 1988 actually. He also has appeared on many commercials for Ace Hardware, Outback Steakhouse, Verizon Wireless, Rent-A-Center, Miller Lite, Sirius Satellite Radio and Tinactin. He also made a cameo in the movie Little Giants and The Replacements.

John Madden is synonymous with pro football, and his legacy will never ever be forgotten. His voice will be missed and his analysis of games and teams strengths and weaknesses will never be duplicated again. Thank you John Madden for being one of the greatest sports announcers of all time.

Celtics Woes Continue

I have to give credit to this post to my buddy Earcy Christmon, who I work with. We were talking about the NBA Playoffs, and he told me Celtics GM Danny Ainge had a minor heart attack. Now having a heart attack is nothing to laugh about or joke about but I do find it kind of odd that he has a heart attack one day after hearing Coach Doc Rivers tell the media the Kevin Garnett will miss the entire playoffs.

The Celtics are really hurting right now and I think they will make it out of the first round against the Bulls but I don't think they will make it past the second round. Without KG they lose a lot and he is not replaceable. Only time will tell if I am proven wrong. As I said before it's going to be Cavaliers and Lakers in the Finals and it's going to go seven games.

I can tell you right now that the Pistons don't stand a chance neither does Chicago. The Western Conference is hard to predict but watch out for Denver because they could be ones to knock off L.A., and in the East watch it for Orlando and Dwight Howard. They could do some serious damage this post season. A lot going on in sports right now. We have the NBA Playoffs, NHL Playoffs, Baseball season, and NASCAR on a weekly basis. It's hard to keep up with it all. I'll continue to provide you all with the best coverage I can.

I really hope the Panthers go in there and prove once and for all the Dallas Cowboys are overrated. I look forward to football season once again.

WWE Featured on E:60

Last night on E:60 Vince McMahon and WWE were featured on the show. It was really awesome and it's about time that ESPN, sports analysts, and fans realize how big professional wrestling is and has become. This was a totally awesome show last night. I hope people can now have a little bit more respect for WWE and pro wrestling. Here are the clips of last night on E:60. Enjoy the videos

WWE Draft shakes things up...Again!!!

Last night was one of the better Raw's in recent memory. Before I begin talking about who went where, I just want to say that there were some solid matches last night on Raw. You had Evan Bourne take on Rey Mysterio, CM Punk vs. Matt Hardy, Kofi Kingston vs. The Miz, Christian vs. Shelton Benjamen, and even Jack Swagger vs. John Cena was really decent. For once WWE made the ECW Title and it's champion look somewhat credible for once. I thought the 3 on 2 handicap match was awesome. I loved how Shane, Triple and Batista weren't getting along because they were all after the same thing. This 3 on 3 match reminds me a lot of a match back in 2000. It was the Rock/Kane/Undertaker vs. Triple H/Shane/Vince. It was for Triple H's WWE Championship at King of the Ring. Whoever got the pin fall against HHH's team would become champion. The Rock pinned Vince and became champion. It was an entertaining match, and I am sure this one at Backlash will be no different.

Now onto the WWE Draft. Here is went down last night

Drafted To Raw
U.S. Champion MVP
Big Show
Matt Hardy
WWE Champion Triple H
The Miz from ECW
Divas Champion Maryse

Drafted To Smackdown
WWE Women's Champion Melina from Raw
CM Punk
Kane from Raw
Chris Jericho
Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio

Drafted To ECW on Sci-Fi
Vladamir Kozlov from Smackdown

Well obviously ECW got the shaft, Raw got an overhaul and Smackdown has a lot of great wrestlers on there now. I'll be very curious to see who feuds with who. This definitely makes Backlash very interesting because only three matches have been announced and they have less then two weeks to build it up and put something together. The biggest question is, and I asked this last week. Where is Shawn Michaels? He has not been on TV in two weeks. I am really surprised they are not capitalizing on his performance at Wrestlemania. All I know is the landscape of WWE has changed and that 2009 looks pretty exciting. Stay tuned for more because the Supplemental Draft takes place Wednesday at 12pm. I will have more on that Wednesday afternoon.

Baseball loses three in four days

It sure has been a tragic week in baseball. Last Friday Nick Adenhart was killed in an automobile accident which was a hit and run. He was the Angels best prospect who had pitched an awesome game the night before he was killed. The Angels have a part of their outfield wall dedicated to him.

Then earlier this afternoon Harry Kalas, the longtime announced for the Phillies passed away just hours before he was getting ready to call the game. He was one of the most beloved announcers in all of baseball. His voice is synonymous with baseball and even NFL Films. The Phillies have their lost voice and baseball lost a great announcer.

And lastly, this one hits home with me because he was a former Detroit Tiger. Mark "the Bird" Fidrych died after a farming accident earlier this morning. He was very colorful and looked like Big Bird, hence the name "the Bird." He was the American League rookie of the year in 1976 and he went 19-9 with a 2.34 ERA. In 1976 he had 24 complete games, as well as starting the All-Star game.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all the families who lost these remarkable people. They all touched fans, and they city's they represented with dignity, class, and respect. None of you will ever be forgotten.

Hollywood's Rejects Players of the Week

So yesterday concluded the first week in baseball and concluded my first match up in Fantasy Baseball with my fellow coworkers. Here is the final score for my first week.

Asylum Street Spankers (RUSS)-198 (0-1)
Hollywood's Rejects (HWOO)-299.5 (1-0)

So as you can see I had a pretty good week overall. My top to hitters of the weeks were Brandon Inge and Jorge Cantu. My top two pitchers for the week were Carlos Zambrano, and Jair Jurrjens. I have the mention Andy Pettite because he pitched great for me as well. This week should be interesting because it's usually when everyone calms down and we'll figure out who is going to have a great season. Hollywood's Rejects Players of the Week will now be a regular Monday post for me so check back every Monday to see if I won or lost and who top my players are the week. God Bless and keep reading.

Easter Sunday in Sports

Easter Sunday means a lot of different things to a lot of different people but before I start on sports I just want say that Easter Sunday means that Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior died for my sins. He also gave me the gift of being a writer and trying to make a career out of it. Thank you Jesus for dying for my sins and sacrificing yourself for all of us. I will always worship and praise your name

Today had a Master 3-way Sudden death playoff between Chad Campbell, Kenny Perry, and the eventual winner Angel Cabrera. It was one of the better Masters I have seen in recent memory. It was good stuff and exciting to watch.

The Tigers beat the Ranger with a 6-run 8th inning comeback to win after being down 4-0. Brandon Inge tore it up and played a great game again. Also the Angels and Red Sox caught into a near brawl after Josh Beckett threw at Bobby Abreu.

And last night but not least, because it was a quiet day, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed QB Byron Leftwich and he will more then likely be the starting QB in Tampa Bay next season.

Well that's all from me, short and sweet. Happy Easter and God Bless you all.

I want to see a Rematch

As you all know at Wrestlemania 25, wrestling fans witnessed one of the greatest matches in the history of pro wrestling. Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker went out and had a classic, a 30 minute classic. I for one want to see a rematch and if WWE was smart they would use to that to their advantage. I hope to see Undertaker and Shawn Michaels in the ring against each other once again. That sad thing is that match wasn't even for a title. A Shawn Michaels/Undertaker feud for the WWE Title would be classic. Believe it or not, it would be better then Cena vs. Edge or Orton vs. HHH. Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels NEEDS to happen once again. Give us the rematch, give us the adrenaline rush we had at Wrestlemania, and give us another classic we deserve. If you didn't watch Wrestlemania 25, find the match on the internet and watch it. It was truly an awesome match. It's one match I'll never forget.

WWE Superstars Debuts April 16th

Next week Thursday Debuts it's brand new show WWE Superstars on WGN America at 8pm. This is what the synopsis says on WWE.COM

"WWE is coming to WGN America
For the first time ever, the biggest Superstars from Raw, SmackDown and ECW debut on “WWE Superstars” – a one-hour exclusive new weekly television show – featuring original matches between any WWE Superstar from any brand, at any time. "WWE Superstars" is the only place to see it all! "WWE Superstars" premieres Thursday, April 16. It's like no other TV show in WWE history. Expect Everything."

Now if I know WWE they will big names on the first week then it will be all Midcarders after that. What's funny is that it doesn't bother me at all because there a lot of guys out there right now that aren't having the talents showcased. Guys like Jamie Noble, Sim Snuka, Goldust, Dolph Ziggler, Curt Hawkins, Zack Ryder, Kung Fu Naki, Jimmy Wang Yang, and Hurricane Helms. I am assuming you will see a lot of guys on there.

Also I am really happy that WWE decided to unify the WWE Tag titles. The tag team division is not as solid as it was way back in the day. There is no emphasis on tag teams as much. I will be really curious to see how it works and I will definitely be curious to see how the new show works out. So Don't forget next Thursday 8pm on WGN America.

UConn goes 39-0 and wins National Championship

Really the headline is all I need to say...But what a great season for UConn. This is the third time they have had an undefeated season. They could be considered one of the greatest teams of all time in the history of sports and Coach Geno Auriemma could go down as one of the greatest coaches of all time. Congratulations to the UConn Huskies on their National Championship and undefeated season. The closest game they had was a win by 10 points. Pretty Amazing, and I would love to see them do it again next year. Congrats to everyone who played their hearts out in both tournaments this year. They were both very fun to watch.

My Interview with CWM Commissioner Paco Zimmer

Reporter: Hollywood Joe
INTERVIEW SERIES: Championship Wrestling of Michiganʼs co-booker and producer Paco Zimmer

Joe: Paco, thanks for taking the time out of your schedule to tell us about whatʼs happening within CWM.

Paco: Your welcome.

Joe: Letʼs start out by discussing the last show. You were not in attendance and many people have been wondering why. The event ended in a bit of controversy over the Michigan heavyweight title.

Paco: Yes, it did. But I have reviewed the tapes from January 18th and will personally address all concerns over the heavyweight championship and the conduct of certain wrestlers involved on May 17th in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Keep in mind, this includes not only N8 Mattson and Truth Martini, but also the official Paul Rogers, Zach Gowen, and Tommy Titus. By now, many fans have heard that N8 suffered a serious injury. Just two weeks ago, he had surgery to repair his ankle. It is my understanding following our recent discussion that N8 will be out of action for several months.

Joe: So what will happen with the title?

Paco: Like I said, on May 17th, the details will be made public. I canʼt comment any further on that at this time. Also, in regard to my absence, I do have other events and business affairs that will prohibit me from being in two places at once. Not to mention, a vacation or two is in order at times throughout the year.

Joe: What can you tell us about May 17th and CWM presents Mayhem?

Paco: We have been very busy with the upcoming card and working as much as possible on building CWM up in 2009. You can expect more new faces and even some old ones. We are planning on recording some footage for the new television show. I do mean “new” television show. Recently, we have added new office personal and launched a brand new website. An addition, we have also been reaching out to individuals about our merchandise needs and television exposure. Our fans are the best. They are passionate about our product. We are still looking for the right team members to continue to satisfy our fans. This entire project is based on what sacrafices everyone makes for the promotion. From ticket buyers to wrestlers, to understand that relationship you have to be at one of the CWM shows. We donʼt promise anything...we just do the best under the circumstances. I have been
involved with CWM since 1998 and the foundation is very grassroots. On May 17th, expect the usual roster and if something more happens then so be it. The fans can walk away surprised. At the last show, we couldnʼt clear the building. People wanted more even thought the show went long. So our focus has been on the organization and sponsors. Once we get support, we can have more shows, etc. Are you going to make it to the next show?

Joe: Of course!

Paco: Good. I can find something for you to do.

Joe: Sounds great! Now letʼs get down into it. Tell me how you feel about CWMʼs champions.

Paco: OK. Past or present?

Joe: Both.

Paco: In the past, CWM has had some wrestlers that I were surprised became title holders. Guys like Knighthawk and the Giant Warrior. There have also been wrestlers that I was very shocked never won a belt like Rhino Richards. Oh, just so you know, we are working on an alumni page for the new website where we get historical about this stuff. I really enjoyed watching Otis Apollo. He was one of
my favorites. Also Rip Malibu, who was the first Kaos champion. Currently, We have the longest reigning heavyweight champion in CWM history. N8 Mattson is the best in Michigan. Another solid performer is the current TV champion T. D.

Joe: Recently, CWM introduced the TV title. What made you decide to strip Christin Able of the belt?

Paco: Wow...Joe, you donʼt let anything get by do you? I like Christin. I think he is very talented. As a House of Truth member, he soared to the top. In the ring, he stood with the best and beat them. He was the first television champion here in CWM. Somewhere along the way, I donʼt know if it was the pressure, the money, personal stuff, or whatever, but he never returned to defend the title. I have to be honest and say that I was very disappointed and had no choice other than to strip him of the title. Wrestling is all about respect and opportunity. The opportunity was there to shine. When you own that spot in the squared circle you really need to honor it. There are no guarantees for tomorrow. In other words, ownership is more than touching gold, itʼs holding on to it. Christin Able should have carried that belt to signify he is willing to make the sacrafices necessary to be in this business. Dedication comes at a price. The rewards are what follow. We call it “doing the right thing” in wrestling. If Christin Able has something to prove to himself than he can do it in a CWM ring anytime. I guess it just needs to be longer than a match or two to earn a contenders spot. I hold no personal judge. My convictions are maybe different than most when it comes to professional wrestling.

Joe: What exactly is your role within CWM?

Paco: Iʼm a producer on the day of the show and help out creatively with booking the event. Formerly, I had a stake in CWM back in 2000, but now I stick to my current creative role and have been assigned the commissioner spot. Is that about it?

Joe: Actually, I have several more but letʼs do this again at another time. To wrap up, is there any other comments you would like to add?

Paco: Sure, I hope the fans come out for the May 17th show. It will be in the hands of the wrestlers to pursue this opportunity and provide something that the fans will talk about. Check out cwmwrestling.com and myspace.com/cwm_wrestling for event details. Thanks for supporting professional wrestling.

UNC Wins National Championship

It was a magical run by MSU beating UConn, Louisville, and Kansas to get to the biggest game of the year but on this night Ty Lawson, Tyler Hansbrough and the rest of the Tarheels proved to be too much against the Spartan. The final score was 89-72, but unfortunately I think most people knew it was over at halftime. They were up by 20 at the half and didn't look back. Congrats to UNC on winning it's fifth national title

However MSU, you did something that means much more then winning a title. You brought the spirit up, and the excitement back to the city of Detroit. Something the Pistons, Lions, and Tigers haven't been able to do. MSU you made all of Michigan proud. It was an incredible run, and I know we haven't seen the last of MSU in the Final Four. Congratulations to you guys on a wonderful season.

The Backlash After Mania Begins

One night after the 25th Anniversary WWE didn't waste anytime preparing for Backlash on April 26th. Tonight saw the return of Batista and plus two big matches have been signed for the event so far.

World Heavyweight Championship-Last Man Standing Match
John Cena (c) vs. Edge

WWE Championship
Triple H (c)/Batista/Shane McMahon vs. Randy Orton/Ted Dibiase/Cody Rhodes
Stipulations are if Orton's team wins, Orton wins title. If Triple H wins, Triple H retains the title. It makes the WWE title match more interesting that way.

Raw was awesome Monday night. It saw WWE Unified Tag Team Champions Carlito & Primo def. The Miz & John Morrison in a Lumberjack Match which was a rematch from last night. Excellent match and I will say that both tag teams are awesome.

Also World Heavyweight Champion John Cena, Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio, Jeff Hardy, CM Punk, & Ricky Steamboat def. Edge, Big Show, Chris Jericho, Matt Hardy & Kane. Ricky Steamboat looked awesome tonight, the fans chanted, "You still got it." He indeed does. What an excellent match to that took place on Raw. The draft is next week, and it's a three hour special. I cannot wait for the draft or Backlash on April 26th. It's going to be great.

....By the way, Where is Shawn Michaels? I am praying for a rematch between him and the Undertaker at Backlash.

Basketball Hall of Fame for 2009 Announced

The names for the 2009 Basketball Hall of Fame have been announced and they are Michael Jordan, David Robinson, John Stockton, Jerry Sloan, and. What a great class this year. All of them are very deserving.

Michael Jordan- Undoubtedly the greatest player in the history of basketball. He gave us a lot of memories and took the game of basketball to a whole different dimension. He will go down as the greatest player of all time and there will never be another like him (including Kobe and Lebron). The Bulls were my favorite team growing up and Jordan was my favorite player to watch.

David Robinson- He is one of the best Centers to ever play the game. It took him a long time to win a championship but when he did you knew he earned it. He also taught Tim Duncan how to play the game right. He was a great ambassador for the game and his contributions won't be forgotten.

John Stockton- Karl Malone's partner in crime definitely deserves this honor. He could move the ball around like no one I ever saw before. He is one of the greatest players to never win the NBA Championship but he is deserving of the Hall of Fame.

Jerry Sloan- One of the greatest coaches of all time who has now been coaching for 30 years prior to that he played for the Baltimore Bullets (1965-1966) and the Chicago Bulls (1966-1976). He had some achievements including:
* 2x NBA All-Star (1967, 1969)
* 4x NBA All-Defensive First Team (1969, 1972, 1974, 1975)
* 2x NBA All-Defensive Second Team (1970, 1971)
He also has over 1100 career wins as a coach, which is remarkable. He coached Stockton and Malone making him one of the greatest coaches to never win an NBA Championship.

C. Vivian Stringer- She is been coaching for almost forty years at
Rutgers University (1995-current)
University of Iowa (1983-1995)
Cheyney State College (1972-1983)
She has over 800 wins here career as a coach and three final four appearances. She even got Don Imus kicked off CBS television and radio for his remarks about Rutgers team. She's had a great career that will never ever be forgotten.

So there you have it, the class of 2009 is official and it's a great class. I look forward to hearing MJ's speech. It should be interesting. Congrats to all the new Hall of Famers.

Baseball Season Officially Starts Today

In what should be a national holiday, the regular season of Major League Baseball starts today. Last night the Braves beat the Phillies on ESPN but today is when all the teams come out to start the season. I said a few months ago that it would the Mets vs. Yankees in the World Series. I am still hoping the Tigers can contend and I really think the Dodgers are going to dominate their division. They got way better once they got Manny and now they have him for an entire season.

I just have a good feeling about this season like it's going to be really competitive and really fun to watch. I think you'll see Boston and New York get ultra-competitive again this year. They spent a lot of money and they are going to do some damage. Well I better get out of here so I can start watching some games. God Bless and have a great day.

Jeff Gordon ends 47 Race winless streak

It seems that Texas had a lot going on yesterday, Wrestlemania 25 as well as a NASCAR race at Texas Motor Speedway which saw Jeff Gordon win his fist race in 47 races. His teammate Jimmie Johnson finished second. Jeff Gordon is currently leading the points race and doesn't look like he is going to quit his dominance right now. I am really happy anytime a driver from Hendrick Motorsports wins a race because that's where Dale Jr. drives and my loyalty is to him and his teammates.

I never use to like Gordon very much but he has humbled over the years and become a little bit more enjoyable to watch. I would really love to see him catch Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty for most titles ever by a driver. We'll have to see though because the way Jimmie Johnson has raced the last three years he might just stand a chance at surpassing Earnhardt and Petty. Congrats Jeff on your win and keeping racing hard. Next Race is a Saturday Night Race in Phoenix on April 18th. It's going to be great. I love Saturday Night Races. Tune in to see who will take home the checkered flag this time.

Wrestlemania 25 Recap

It was the showcase of the immortals, and the grandest stage of them all. It was the Silver Anniversary, Wrestlemania 25. The opening bout was the Money in the Bank Ladder match. They had some great spots in the match where Kofi Kingston was showcased, last years winner CM Punk won the match becoming the first man to ever win two Money in the Bank Ladder matches in a row.

Up next was an awesome performance by Kid Rock which saw almost everyone at my table at Buffalo Wild Wings singing All Summer Long, and Cowboy. His song led the Divas out for the 25-Diva Battle Royal. As the match dwindled down I noticed a Diva I've never seen before. Well that she turned out to be a he, and it was the goofy weirdo Santino Marella who won the Diva's Battle Royal to become Miss Wrestlemania. Talk about crazy. It definitely was crazy to say the least.

Up next was the Chris Jericho vs. Piper/Snuka/Steamboat in a handicap match with Ric Flair in their corner and Mickey Rourke sitting at ringside. Jericho had to defeat all three legends to win the match and defeat him they did but Ricky Steamboat stole some of the show. He looked absolutely awesome in the ring. It was so awesome seeing him wrestle again. After the match, Jericho called Rourke into the ring and asked for an apology. Rourke was hesitant at first but he eventually got in the ring and knocked out Chris Jericho. Flair and Rourke celebrated in the ring.

Extreme Rules, Brother vs. Brother, Matt vs. Jeff as the Hardy Boys definitely took it to another level tonight. I personally have always thought that Matt was the better wrestler and he proved to be tonight. Jeff Hardy took his chances but Matt hit a nasty twist of fate on his brother Jeff. The Era of Mattitude has returned.

The biggest shocker of the night was watching the shortest Intercontinental Title Match in history. Rey Mysterio who payed tribute to the late Heath Ledger by dressing in Joker fashion got the last laugh. He defeated the Longhorn loudmouth JBL in a mere 21 Seconds. After the match JBL proceeded get on the microphone and utter the words I quit. So indeed JBL did make history, he lost his title in record fashion and is the first person to ever quit at a Wrestlemania. Good stuff.

For wrestling fans like myself we live for matches that define our generation. The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels was definitely one of the greatest matches in the history of Wrestlemania and the history of wrestling. It will be the most talked about match for awhile. While the Undertakers streak may still be intact, the legend of Shawn Michaels' performances continued to grow. All I got to say is I want a rematch at Backlash because I think this long time rivalry isn't over.

Next up was the introduction of the Hall of Famers, but for one of them it was a emotional farewell. Stone Cold Steve Austin, arguably the greatest WWE Superstar of all time closed the doors on his wrestling career. He came out with four-wheeler and vintage classic Austin 3:16 shirt and had one more toast with the fans, J.R., and the people who have loved this legendary figure. Stone Cold I salute you and thank you for all the memories you gave us in your career.

As predicted John Cena did win the World Title triple threat match against Edge and the Big Show. It was a solid match which saw Cena pick up the Big Show for the attitude adjuster (formerly known as the F-U), and 72,000 plus in Houston watch as Cena become World Champion once again. I would also like to point out that it was cool to see Cena use his old theme song Basic Thuganomics before he made his way out to the ring.

Finally the match that I was torn about, Randy Orton vs. WWE Champion Triple H. It was a back and forth match which saw both men hit their finishers within the first five minutes of the match. In the end, the sledgehammer, the pedigree and Triple H's desire for revenge was too much for the Legend Killer and Triple H retains his WWE Championship.

Overall it was a good Wrestlemania, I would give it a 7.5 out of 10. I was disappointed that the Miz/Morrison and Carlito/Primo match was not on the pay-per-view but they did have the match right before the PPV started. The Colons won and became the undisputed WWE tag team champions. I also thought that Stephanie, Shane and Vince should have came out to celebrate with Triple H to end the show.

A lot of people have complained about how bad the PPV was. I personally thought it was good. It had some old school, some extreme, some surprises some comedy, and memories that were created. Wrestlemania 25 will stand the test of a time, no matter what the critics say.

MSU and UNC advance to the National Championship Game

Tomorrow night it will be my favorite team against my favorite player this year. Michigan State is and will always be my favorite college basketball team. However this year there is a Tarheel by the name Tyler Hansbrough who has captured my attention and the nations attention as well. He is just a great all around player. I look for him to do some great things in the NBA. Michigan State though has prevailed time and time again when the odds have been stacked against them. I think MSU will give UNC a fight for their lives and it's going to be a great game to watch.

So tomorrow it comes down to this, UNC and MSU battling for college basketball supremacy in Detroit at Ford Field. There is no bigger stage then this and I have a feeling that this game will never ever be forgotten. So tune in at 9pm tomorrow night for all the action. I'll have a recap Tuesday Morning on what transpires. Until then have a good day and God Bless

News and Notes Around Sports

Well here is the rundown of what I got for this morning.

MLB
Garry Sheffield signed with the Mets yesterday for a 1 year deal. If the Mets weren't dangerous as it is already they just added some power to the lineup. Speaking of New York, both teams in New York opened up their new stadiums yesterday and they look wonderful. The season starts Sunday and Monday so it will be a busy day and an exciting day as well. I am looking forward to it.

NFL
The Giants released Plaxico yesterday which was the smartest thing they could have done for their franchise. I think it is the distractions by him is what led to the teams downfall. Also Michael Vick thinks he has a plan to get out of bankruptcy and that is to make an NFL salary this year. The judge wasn't buying it and told him to come up with something better.

NCAA
The Final Four is tonight and I am so excited for it. I live for sports moments like this. It's UConn vs. MSU, UNC vs. Villanova. Who would of thought MSU would have made it this far into the tournament. I for one didn't believe but now I am a believer. Go Spartans Go.

NBA
This without a doubt is the best news I heard all season. Allen Iverson is out for the rest of the year with a back injury and is thinking about retiring. All I got say is its about time. When this trade first happened I thought it was for the better but now I am so happy his season has ended. I haven't seen the Pistons play this bad in a very long time. I'll be happy when the season is over.

Well that's all from for now, have a great weekend. It's going to be action packed and I'll have a lot to write about the next few days. Have a great weekend and God Bless.

News and Notes from Wrestlemania Weekend

Well a lot of things are happening this weekend in Houston for Wrestlemania 25. Yesterday Kofi Kingston won the THQ Superstar challenge defeated 19 other superstars. It's always a fun thing to hear about.

A lot of celebrities are set to appear at Wrestlemania. People including Carl Edwards, Evander Holyfield, Michael Clarke Duncan, Chester Pitts, Chris Myers, Eric Winston, Mario Williams and Travis Johnson. It was a also announced that indeed Mickey Rourke will be at Ringside for Chris Jericho's handicap match with the legends. Makes Wrestlemania all the more interesting.

I am sure their will be plenty of big things happening tomorrow. It is the 25th anniversary and I know WWE has some surprises for everyone. Wrestlemania here we go, it's tomorrow baby, yeah!!!

Tigers Starting Rotation and more

With only a few days left until Tigers Opening day, I was trying to figure out what the Tigers Starting rotation would be like without Bonderman or Robertson in it. So here is what it looks like as of today

1. Justin Verlander
2. Edwin Jackson
3. Armando Galarraga
4. Zach Miner
5. Rick Porcello

That doesn't look to bad but then again it doesn't look all that great either. Here is who is all in the bullpen.

Fernando Rodney (CL)
Brandon Lyon
Bobby Seay
Juan Rincon
Eddie Bonine
Randy Perry
Nate Robertson

All I can say is it's about time that Nate was thrown into the bullpen. He has not done anything since he's been in Detroit. He's had a losing record every year he has been with us. The bullpen doesn't look to bad, even though I'd prefer seeing Brandon Lyon as our closer. Fernando Rodney just scares me every time he is out there. I really don't know how the Tigers will do this year. They open up the year with a 4 game series in Toronto and I think that will tell us a lot about what to expect. I cannot wait until Monday. Opening game of the year is one of my favorite days of the year. I cannot wait.

The Undertaker: 17-0?

Yesterday the WWE did the dumbest of all things. They posted a shirt on WWEShop.com of a broken heart that said 17-0. The broken heart stood the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels. The 17-0 represents the Undertaker's undefeated streak at Wrestlemania if he beats Shawn Michaels Sunday. I am looking at this two ways.

1. WWE accidentally posted the shirt and blew all the hype and suspense to the match like they sometimes do. Plus it's already a foregone conclusion that The Undertaker will remain undefeated at the biggest stage of them all. That's the negitive part of it.

2. WWE purposely put it up there to make it look like the Undertaker already won because most people think he will. It could possibly be a swerve, and the unthinkable might happen this year. The Undertaker will lose at Wrestlemania 25, thus shocking everyone. This is high unlikely that it will happen because already know that the Undertaker will win at Wrestlemania 25.

Also on a side note, WWE is trying to get in contact with Paul Bearer for Wrestlemania 25. Interesting, very interesting. I cannot wait to see if he shows up or not. Until then we'll have to wait and see.

Jay Cutler traded to Chicago

Finally the Jay Cutler saga has ended and I for one couldn't be happier. Now we can get back to whats important in sports. We can start focusing on the end of the NBA season, the beginning of baseball season and the NFL Draft. Jay Cutler was traded to Chicago for Kyle Orton and a 1st round pick in this years draft as well as a 1st round pick in next years draft. I think Denver got the better deal to be honest but if Jay Cutler can lead Chicago to the promise land again then I'll be a believer. Like I said before the guy hasn't shown me anything worth getting excited for yet. When he does then I'll start talking about him more. Until then have fun at Solider Field in the cold, bitter weather of the Windy City. Now back to our regularly scheduled program.

Will the Jay Cutler saga ever end?

You know for the last month all I have heard is about how bad Jay Cutler wants out of Denver all because they were trying to get Matt Cassel. All I got to say is kid, get over yourself. It's not like your Drew Brees, Payton Manning or Tom Brady. You're good but not great. Sports is just like any other business. You will make the moves to put yourself in contention to win and be successful.

All I got to say is if you get traded that I hope you will not be as much of a cry baby as you are now. This is ridiculous for someone to act like this. You would think he was John Elway with the way people are talking about him. Cutler you didn't even make the playoffs this year. Actually you choked in the last game of the season to miss the playoffs.

Personally if it were me running a team I wouldn't touch him because he's a crybaby just like 85 percent of the other athletes out there. Be happy because you're making money, doing what you love for a living and being apart of a great sport. Some of us don't even have that. So please enough about Jay Cutler and supposedly how great he is. When he actually gets Denver to the AFC Championship then I'll believe. Oh my bad, he won't ever do it Denver because he's not going to play there anymore. Win the AFC Championship Game or at least get there and you'll make me a believer. Until then you're still a cry baby. Prove me wrong and I might change my tone about you.

Tazz leaves the WWE

Once known as "The Human Suplex Machine," he has been better known for doing commentary on Smackdown over the last eight years. His contract expired and his final appearance is this Friday on Smackdown. With Tazz leaving the WWE just a few days before Wrestlemania 25, one has to wonder who will be filling the role at Wrestlemania and commentate alongside Jim Ross. This definitely shakes things up for Wrestlemania and shakes things up on Smackdown.

It's sad to see Tazz leave the WWE after so many years with them. I personally think he will go to UFC or TNA to do commentating. Tazz was a good commentator but if we don't ever see him again I will always remember him for his wrestling ability. He was one of the most extreme technical wrestlers to ever grace the ring. My favorite match of his was when he fought Triple H and it was ECW Champion vs. WWE Champion. Until we see you again Tazz, Win if you can Survive If I let you.

Tigers release Garry Sheffield

With only one home run shy of 500, the Detroit Tigers decided to release Garry Sheffield. I really don't know the reasons behind it but I am really shocked. Sheffield has been injury plagued for the last few seasons and is struggling this Spring Training. One can only think that had something to do with his release from the organization.

Garry Sheffield is a great player and will probably be in the Hall of Fame someday. He does have a World Series ring to his name when he won the World Series in 1997 with the upstart Florida Marlins. In my eyes he did way better in the National League then he did the American League. I know Sheffield will find a team somewhere but who is going to take him now with his history of injuries. I would hate to see a great player like him not be in the league. Will he have a job before opening day? Only time will tell.
