2012 NFL Playoff Predictions: Wildcard Round

With all the coaches and GM's being fired I almost forget that the playoffs start this weekend. Their are a few teams that I didn't expect to be in the playoffs but some are more obvious then others. I have this gut feeling that these playoffs are going to be exciting and shocking. Let's get down to business as now the regular season is over and the playoffs have begun.

Saturday
4:30 p.m.
Bengals at Texans (NBC)
The Bengals had a great run at the end of the season and the Texans really fell apart the last month of the season. I think the Bengals will give the Texans a run for their money but I see Houston moving on the next round.

8 p.m.
Vikings at Packers (NBC)
After watching the Vikings beat the Packers on Sunday one has to wonder if Green Bay can still hang. However the Packers always get hot during the playoff especially at home. I am going with the Packers for the win but I am very conflicted about this choice.

Sunday 1 p.m.
Colts at Ravens (CBS)
Ravens are old and Colts are young. Joe Flacco chokes in the playoffs every year and the defense is getting old and injured on a weekly basis. With the motivation of having Chuck Pagano back and Andrew Luck looking like a veteran I think the Colts are going to pull what most people would call an upset and move on to the playoffs.

4:30 p.m.
Seahawks at Redskins (Fox)
One name....RG3. I think RG3 is going to shred the Seahawks defense apart. I love what the Redskins have done this year and I think they have a great long term future which will start with a win against Seattle. It's refreshing to see the Redskins outlast the Cowboys, Eagles and Giants.

The AFC teams with byes are the Patriots and Broncos and the NFC teams with byes are the Falcons and 49ers. The Road to New Orleans is going to fierce and hot.

Baseball Off-Season Moves as of 12/29/12

It's been two weeks since I last posted and more things have happened that have shaken the foundation of baseball. Keep in mind I only post about deals that have been made official by Major League Baseball. With all that being said lets get down to business of the wheeling and dealing.

-Los Angeles Angels agreed to terms with OF Josh Hamilton on a five-year contract.
-Toronto Blue Jays traded C John Buck, C Travis d'Arnaud, RHP Noah Syndergaard and OF Wuilmer Beccera to the N.Y. Mets for RHP R.A. Dickey, C Josh Thole and C Mike Nickeas. Also agreed to terms with Dickey on a three-year contract.
-Houston Astros agreed to terms with DH Carlos Pena on a one-year contract.
-Minnesota Twins agreed to terms with RHP Mike Pelfrey on a one-year contract.
-Cleveland Indians agreed to terms with 3B Mark Reynolds on a one-year contract.
-Seattle Mariners traded LHP Jason Vargas to the L.A. Angels for 1B/DH Kendrys Morales. Also agreed to terms with OF Raul Ibanez on a one-year contract.
-Miami Marlins agreed to terms with 3B Placido Polanco on a one-year contract.
-Arizona Diamondbacks agreed to terms with OF Cody Ross on a three-year contract.
-Texas Rangers agreed to terms with C A.J. Pierzynski on a one-year contract.
-Boston Red Sox agreed to terms with SS Stephen Drew on a one-year contract

This is it for 2012 and before you know it Spring Training will be here and Opening Day will come. Some of the teams that have made significant moves are the Dodgers, Angels, Tigers, Blue Jays, Royals and  the Red Sox. All of these teams have made major moves and are looking to reach the postseason in 2013. Check back the 1st half of January for more off-season moves. Happy New Years and God Bless!

Open Letter to Martha Hart

To: Martha Hart
From: Hollywood's World of Sports and the majority of WWE fans

Martha:

On May 23 1999 your husband Owen James Hart died in a tragic accident at WWE Over the Edge in Kansas City, Missouri. This was a tragic accident that everyone wished would have never happened. The following night on Raw, the show was dedicated to your husband with so many touching tributes from all the superstars.

Several weeks later you sued the WWE for a wrongful death and wanted support financially for your loss. I understand why you sued for that. However what I dont understand is that everytime the WWE has Owen on a DVD, or any other media you feel the need to file another lawsuit to prevent WWE from using the Owen Hart name. I understand that you still hurt to this day but the fans didn't kill Owen, it was an accident that killed him.

The fans loved your husband and were always behind him whether he was a face or a heel. He had such a huge in WWE from about 1993 until his untimely death. Some of his accomplishments include:

WWF European Championship
2 time WWF Intercontinental Champion
4 time WWF World Tag Team Champion
King of the Ring (1994)
Slammy Award for Squared Circle Shocker (1996)
Slammy Award for Best Bow Tie (1997)

Now I know you know about all of your husband's accomplishments but why not let them be recognized. The WWE has wanted to recognize Owen now for a long time by wanting to put him in the WWE Hall of Fame. The fans have been wanting to see Owen in the Hall of Fame for a long time as well. Instead of be ashamed of your husbands legacy, you should be proud of it. Owen was such a fun star to watch on TV.

Lastly, I'd like to say this to you Martha. It didn't matter if he was "The Rocket,""The King of Harts,"
"The Black Hart," "The Lone Hart," or "The Two-Time Slammy Award Winner" he was truly one of the best in WWE history. Martha please allow your husband to take his rightful place into the WWE Hall of Fame next to his brother and his father. The Hart family is the best there is, the best there was and the best that there ever will be. Owen's memory will live on forever!

Respectfully,

Hollywood's World of Sports

Planning the Wrestlemania 29 Card

It's almost that time of year where rumors start flying about what will be going on during the Road to Wrestlemania. I've heard so much buzz about Wrestlemania 29 and what could possibly happen. With that being said here is the rumored Wrestlemania card based on what I've heard, seen or read. Lets break it down.

The Rock vs. John Cena
I personally do not want to see this again but Vince McMahon does. Vince needs to take a hint and realize that no one remembers their match last year and it was overshadowed by The Undertaker and Triple H. If Rock vs. Cena happens again it better not be the Main Event.

The Undertaker vs. CM Punk
These two had a really good short feud in 2009 and never went the lengths it should have. Both are all about respect but in two totally different ways. This could be one great match if The Undertaker is healthy. He's had a year off to rest and relax but not it's time to see if he can still go.

Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar
A lot of people didn't like their first match but I loved the slow methodical pace they had at Summerslam. I think Triple H has a lot to prove. With his suits and haircut a lot of people don't think he is what he use to be and I for one would like to see what he has left. I have always been a fan of both Lesnar and Hunter's work.

Ryback vs. Big Show
This is the match that would probably get Ryback over and get him even more momentum then he has now. I think anytime anyone can overpower the Big Show it helps the business in the long run. I think Big Show has been on a roll over the last year and I think Ryback should be the one to stop the momentum of the Big Show.

Shemus vs. Randy Orton
This match could be a show stealer and one hell of a fight. These two had a small rivalry back a couple of years ago but not to the level they could go to. Randy Orton needs to be the heel and Sheamus should remain as the face for this feud.

Now here are some other matches I have heard about and a few matches I would like to see personally. All the matches above and below are all rumors, speculation and personal preference.

Sin Cara vs. Rey Mysterio
This could be the greatest Lucha Libre match in history if WWE lets them wrestle their style. I think Mysterio is one of the greatest masked wrestlers of all time and Sin Cara is pretty good as well. I think both men have the ability to do some great things. I think this match should be the re-birth of the Cruiserweight division and these two the leaders of that division.

The Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler
This is a match I personally would like to see as the World Heavyweight Title Match. I watched these two have a classic match on Main Event back in November 2012. Once I watched this match I told myself this should be the World Title match at Wrestlemania. This match would have so much wrestling skill, great mic skills and great charisma. I think this match should happen and I think it would be one that so many people would remember.

Fatal Four Way Tag Match-The Uso's vs. Prime Time Players vs.  Justin Gabriel/Tyson Kidd vs. Primo/Epico
I think WWE needs to bring back in some way what the Hardy's, Dudley's, and Edge/Christian did back a decade ago. They need to re-define the tag team division, and the daredevil side of WWE competitors. All these men are high flyers. It could be TLC, Steel Cage, etc. I think this would be a great match to highlight the tag team match.

Money in the Bank Ladder Match- Wade Barrett, Antonio Cesaro, Kofi Kingston, R-Truth, Kane, Daniel Bryan, Cody Rhodes, Damien Sandow, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Alberto Del Rio
This would be the future of the WWE right here. All of these guys would make great WWE or World Champions. I think Money in the Bank needs to be back at Wrestlemania. One briefcase for either of the titles, then the PPV for each of the titles. I think these twelve men would put on a great match and only three out of these twelve have won the briefcase.

3MB vs. Billy Gunn/Road Dogg Jesse James/X-Pac
I think this storyline should start out by 3MB saying their the best group ever and challange any faction from the past. It should play off what Heath Slater did before Raw 1000 and call out legends and alumni. DX is still over big time with the fans and deserve one last hurrah.

Diva's Battle Royal Past and Present for the Diva's Title
Eve, AJ, Tamina, Natalya, Aksana, Alicia Fox, Kaitlyn, Layla, Rosa, Trish Stratus, Lita, Torrie Wilson, Stacy Keibler, Molly Holly, Melina, Michelle McCool, Maryse, Kelly, Jazz, Jillian, Ivory,
Beth Phoenix
This would be awesome for the Diva's division. The Diva's need some attention because one they don't get enough it, and two no one cares about today's Diva's. They need need to due to something to help today's Diva's out and this would be a great way to do it. The other idea would be to have a tag match pitting the present Diva's vs. the past Diva's.

All in all 11 matches together in terms of what I have heard, read, and what I would prefer. Wrestlemania is the grandest stage of them all and it usually doesn't disappoint. I hope WWE puts on a great show on April 7th, 2013...how will the Road to Wrestlemania shape up? Tune in to find out.

Review, Recap, and Results of WWE TLC 2012

Sin Cara plunges through the wood in the tables match.
Tonight was the final pay-per-view for WWE and it determined where the WWE might be headed in 2013. The preshow match was a Diva's Battle Royal in which Naomi won then we got to the show. The first match was Sin Cara and Rey Mysterio taking on Team Rhodes Scholars in a tables match. This was a good solid opener to the night in which you could sense that night might have some brutality. The match ended when Sin Cara attempted a spring board move from the top rope and Rhodes pushed to the outside through the table. The Scholars are the new number one contenders to the Tag Team Champions

Antonio Cesaro successfully defended his title against R-Truth and claims that no American can beat him. I like what Cesaro is doing and like the push he is getting. He is a future World Champion and I think you might see it in 2013. The other title match that was good was Kofi Kingston defending his Intercontinental Championship against Wade Barrett. I am a huge Kofi supporter but I believe Barrett needs a title to get some momentum going. Kofi Kingston retains but it's only a matter of time before Barrett has some sort of title around his waste.

In between those two title match The Miz had MizTV and completely mocked 3MB. In the middle of all that 3MB poked fun of the Spanish commentators and Ricardo Rodriguez. This prompted Alberto Del Rio to come down and make the save. It was announced that 3MB would take on Miz, Del Rio and a mystery partner later on in the evening,

People are going to be talking about Seth Rollins for a
long time
Next up was the 6-man tag between the Shield taking on Kane, Daniel Bryan and Ryback. This match was completely brutal and crazy. It resembled a crazy car wreck on the highway if you can picture that. The Shield won the match but it didn't come without a price. Seth Rollins took a nasty fall off the ladder and on to the tables. He hit the back of his head on one of the tables that didn't break. He was knocked out and looked completely out of it once the match was over. This was one of the sickest ladder bumps I have seen in a long time. It's a good thing he wasn't hurt even more seriously then he he was. The Shield took a beating but came out on top.

The Diva's match calmed the crowd down as Eve retained the title against Naomi. Speaking of retaining titles, the Big Show retained his in a brutal chair match with Sheamus. The use of chairs was brilliant by both men in this match. Big Show kept on to his World Heavyweight title and in the process has had a legitimate title reign in the WWE. All I have to say is good for the Big Show because he deserves it after all the years he's put in.

If you would have told me that the semi main event would have been 3MB versus The Miz, Alberto Del Rio and the Brooklyn Brawler I would have called you a moron. I honestly thought the third man would Zack Ryder because the fans were chanting for him all night. 3MB finally lost a match as a team but it was good to see them up against two caliber stars like Del Rio and Miz. I am kind of shocked at this face turn by Del Rio. I honestly did not see that coming and I am wondering if they are testing the waters because no one is buying into him being a heel anymore. I guess only time will tell to see what happens. I will be interested to see what happens with Del Rio and Miz in 2013.

In the Main Event Dolph Ziggler put his Money in the Bank briefcase on the line against John Cena and it was a good match but not main event material. The make a long story short Vickie Guerrero and AJ got involved. Once AJ took out Vickie she led us to believe Cena would win the briefcase but she tipped the ladder over when he was on it allowing Dolph to keep his briefcase. In my humble, opinion this was not a good way to end the show. I am a huge Dolph Ziggler fan but the last image fans should have saw is The Shield standing tall after their win.

If I was the creative team I would have had the Sheamus-Big Show match earlier and then have Dolph cash in after the match. Then the main event could have been for the World Title between Cena and Ziggler. For me, that would have meant a lot more then the briefcase. I am not thrilled with this pay-per-view because once again there was not a lot of shock value. It was not a good way to end 2012 for WWE. It also didn't help that CM Punk was not on defending his title. I would rank this pay-per-view 5.5 out of 10. They tried to shock us but failed miserable. The next time the WWE is on pay-per-view is January 27th and it's the Royal Rumble. The Royal Rumble kicks off the Road to Wrestlemania and my weekly series will be back once again as we build to Wrestlemania 29. Where will that road take us? Tune in to find out.

Baseball Off-Season Moves of 12/15/2012

Can Victorino bring dominance back
to the Boston Red Sox?
Well it's been a little over two weeks since I last posted and a lot has happened. Remember when I report these transactions, it's when the ink has dried and everything has become official. So if you don't see something don't get mad, it will probably be on the next edition. With that being said lets look at all the wheeling and dealing since the last time I reported.

-Los Angeles Angels agreed to terms with RHP Joe Blanton and LHP Sean Burnett on two-year contracts.
-New York Yankees agreed to terms with INF Kevin Youkilis on a one-year contract.

Yes I know about Josh Hamilton and R.A. Dickey but those transactions have not been made official. They will become official and be on the next edition of off-season moves which is New Years Eve. So with the being said, check back then for more wheeling, dealing and big moves.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Years from Hollywood's World of Sports

Recap, Review and Results of 2012 TNA Final Resolution

Jeff Hardy added another elemant
to his enigma with his new mask
Tonight was TNA'S final PPV of the year which just happens to be called Final Resolution. The night started off  with James Storm looking for a fight with Bobby Roode. Well James Storm did not get Bobby Roode but he did get Kazarian. He and Kaz had a great opening match and it kind picks up the feuding that was going on this past Thursday on Impact. Storm gets the win and keeps up with getting the momentum back on track.

Next up was the X Division Title match between Kenny King and RVD. I am glad RVD got the title but he should have dropped it to King and put a younger guy over. Kenny King had a lot of momentum after he jumped ship from ROH to TNA. The match was good but the ending was horrible and had a some botches. Like I said I have nothing but respect and admiration for RVD but he's getting up there and needs to start putting over younger talent. That's one problem I have with WWE that TNA should take advantage of. Put over younger talent and help create superstars. It seems like wrestling in general lacks that concept these days.

Another title match was for the TNA Tag Team Titles was with challangers Joey Ryan and Matt Morgan going against the champs Hernandez and Chavo Guerrero. I absolutely hate Joey Ryan and hate everything his character is. There is nothing special about this guy. Now Matt Morgan on the other hand is headed in the right direction. I like that Hogan in mentoring him and he's on track to become the star he should have been all along. If Morgan can go solo and start doing his own thing I think he will become a huger success this time around in TNA. With all that being said, the champs retain and Morgan is looking like more of a monster each time he goes out there.

Austin Aries and Bully Ray had a classic tonight and showed why they are two of the top stars in the company. They had a great match with a great story to it. Brooke Hogan got involved with Hulk eventually getting her away from ringside. That minor distraction cause Bully Ray the match and Austin Aries continues his reign of terror against Ray and the Hogans. I think Aries, Roode and Daniels are the three top heels in the company right now. Hell they might be the best in the wrestling world.. You name three better heels out there and I might listen. I am sure the feuding with Ray, Aries and Hulk is far from over.

I know at times I am very hard on the Diva's of the WWE but it's because TNA's Knockout Division is better in every way possible. Tonight was one of the best TNA Knockouts Title matches I've seen in a long time. Tara and Mickie James tore the house down. For the first time this year I actually got into a match female match. I know damn well these girls can just be as athletic as the men and I am glad TNA allows theirs to be. With some help from her boyfriend Jesse Tara retained her title and continues her reign of dominance over the Knockouts Division.

The war with Aces n Eights turned another chapter tonight as they took on Wes Brisco, Garrett Bischoff, Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle. I loved that two young guys got to be showcased with two legends in this match. That's what I am talking about when I say creating and making stars. Wes Brisco is a star in the making and he will have a big year in 2013. Kurt Angle got the win for his team by submission.

The "final match" between AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels was indeed a classic. I put at number 2 behind Aries and Ray for the night. Both men know each other so well and this was roughly their 116th match against each other. It was back and forth with a bloody AJ giving it all he had. In the end, the conceited Daniels beat AJ with his own move, the Styles Clash. I have a feeling this isn't the last match they have had in TNA. I think at Bound for Glory next year Christopher Daniels could be TNA World Champion and AJ Styles will be the challenger after winning the Bound for Glory Series. I have a feeling that it might be a possible direction they could go just so AJ can have his retribution. Regardless of what happens AJ Styles still has a lot to give and will continue to be a mainstay in TNA Wrestling.

The Main Event of the evening was Bobby Roode challenging Jeff Hardy for the TNA World Title. This was a great back and forth match with Hardy showing the effects from him being attacked on Thursday. Hardy has had three great solid main events in a row and is proving why he deserves the gold despite what other people say about his past. At the end of the match I thought Aces N Eights was going to cost Hardy the title but it led to Roode being distracted and losing. After the match the gang beat up both competitors and the show ended with the gang standing tall.

The show was definitely a good way to end the year in TNA Wrestling. The one thing I am getting a little bit frustrated with is that more members aren't being revealed. The best way to keep people interested in this storyline is to reveal guys one at a time and the by the time you get to Lockdown in March the only left that needs to be revealed is the leader. That's my only complaint about the show because other then that it was a good all around pay-per-view. I would give it an 8 out of 10.  The next time TNA is on pay-per-view is January 13th 2013 at Genesis.

Athletes, Gun Control and Domestic Violence

Javon Belcher left behind a daughter
and a lot of questions as to why
In the wake of Javon Belcher murder-suicide involving his girlfriend one has to wonder if these professional sports organizations have to make new rules. I believe that you have the right to bear arms and keep a gun locked in your house. I feel however that you do not have the right to bring guns out into the public. I believe that the NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA and the other sport organizations should ban players from having firearms in the locker room, or any of the housing that is provided by their specific team. If you are caught once then you are suspended for the year. If you're caught twice then you are banned from the league until a proper investigation is reached on why the athlete has the gun in the first place. Athletes have all this money, so they think the can do whatever they please. Instead of purchasing a firearm why don't these guys hire a bodyguard who is trained to protect someone. That's just my thought on the whole situation.

A lot of people don't think this is a huge problem, but in reality it really is. Here is a short list of notable names who have been murdered, committed suicide or have been convicted of murdering someone else. When you get done reading this list then you'll realize it's a huge problem.

Chris Benoit (WWE)- Murder-Suicide
Kerry Von Erich (WWE)- Suicide by gunshot
Sean Taylor (NFL)- Homicide
Fred Lane (NFL)- Homicide
Ugueth Urbina (MLB)- Attempted Murder
Rae Carruth (NFL)- Conspiracy to commit murder
Steve McNair (NFL)- Murdered by mistress

Now this is just a short list. Here is another list of athletes who have been accused of domestic violence.

Mike Tyson (Boxing)
OJ Simpson (NFL)
Jim Brown (NFL)
Tito Ortiz (UFC)
Brian Giles (MLB)
Chuck Finley (MLB)
Albert Belle (MLB)
Jason Kidd (NBA)
Shawn Merriman (NFL)
James Harrison (NFL)
Chad Johnson (NFL)

Arenas and Burress still live but their
careers are ruined due to possessing fire arms
If these lists don't open your eyes then I am not sure what will. The old saying is "guns don't kill people, people kill people." Well if you take a gun out of someones hands it's going to be a lot harder to kill someone and a person has a chance to fight back.

Now their are some athletes who have had problems with firearms that saw their careers go right down the toilet. Gilbert Arenas was one of a few members of the Washington Wizards who were caught having firearms in the locker room at the arena. He was severely punished and after his punishment his career hasn't been the same since. He was once considered a superstar and now is irrelevant playing for the Shanghai Sharks in China. Plaxico Burress as we all know shot himself at a New York night club. He spent sometime in jail and he is not been the same player he once was. He spent a year with the Jets and is now with the team that drafted him which would be the Pittsburgh Steelers.

One thing is for sure and that is if Arenas and Burress wouldn't have had problems with firearms their careers would have turned out a lot different. After reading all of this, if you don't think their is a problem with athletes having firearms or being accused domestic violence what will it take for you to realize that it is a huge problem? How are you going to feel when your favorite player is killed or they harm someone else? What will you think when your heroes aren't the people you think they may be? Athletes with firearms are a huge deal and so is domestic violence. I hope the government and these professional sports organizations start cracking down on this problem. Athletes are not above the law and the law needs to start holding these athletes accountable for their actions. Let the movement begin, and let begin now.

2012 NFL Week 14 Predictions

After week 13 it's really hard to even talk about football after the tragedy involving Kansas City Chiefs Linebacker Jevon Belcher and his girlfriend.A lot of people have had debates about gun control and domestic violence in this country. I will sum it up like this. A gun in the wrong hands of someone will lead to tragedy every time. I do believe in the right to bear arms and have a gun locked in your house but I do feel you should not be allowed to have guns in public. New Sponsorship's in NASCAR for 2013

Every year a few drivers switch teams and few teams get new sponsors. This upcoming year in 2013 is no different. There are a few new sponsors this year and drivers switching teams. Also so you don't confused, the Nationwide will be running Chevy Camaro's and and in the Sprint Cup they will be running the Chevy SS. With that being said here are the newest sponsors and schemes. I am not posting all the schemes because they look similar to old ones. Here we go!

Dale Earnhardt Jr. will driver the number 88 for three
Nationwide Races in 2013 with TaxSlayer.com as it's sponsor

Out with the Office Depot and in with Bass Pro Shops
as Tony Stewart's new sponsor for 2013

Clint Bowyer is moving up in the world as Peak
Motor Oil becomes his new sponsor in 2013

Jamie McMurray loses Bass Pro Shops and McDonalds
is back in NASCAR for 2013

Joey Logano has a new team, new number and new sponsor.
The sponsor remains the same on the 22 but has a whole new
look for it's new driver.

Here are the new Chevy SS cars that will be driven in Sprint Cup for 2013.
