Results, Recap, Review of WWE Roadblock: End of the Line 2016

Tonight was the last pay-per-view of the year for the WWE. Smackdown had a great show with Tables, Ladder and Chairs to close out Smackdowns pay-per-view year. Could Raw deliver with a great show to end the year? Well before I begin here are the results of tonights event.

-Pre-Show: Rusev defeated Big Cass by Countout

-Cesaro and Sheamus defeated The New Day to win the WWE Tag Team Championships

-Sami Zayn defeated Braun Strowman by lasting the 10 Minute Time Limit
-Seth Rollins defeated Chris Jericho
-Rich Swann defeated TJ Perkins and The Brian Kendrick to retain the WWE Cruiserweight Championship
-Charlotte Flair defeated Sasha Banks in Sudden Death Overtime in the 30 Minute Iron Man Match to win the WWE Raw Women's Championship
-Kevin Owens defeated Roman Reigns by DQ to retain the WWE Universal Championship

The opening match of the night was for the WWE Tag Team Championship. The New Day came into tonight as the longest reigning WWE Tag Team Champions of All Time against the team of Cesaro and Sheamus. As far as I am concerned Cesaro and Sheamus have been long overdue for something big. I am so happy for two very talented performers who have been held down and held back. The New Day had an incredible run but it's time to get some new tag teams in the mix.  Sami Zayn has been a huge underdog for a long time., I love the way they have been building Zayn and Strowman with Mick Foley's involvement. Zayn is another one who deserves more opportunity and hopefully we will see more out of him. The match had great storytelling and psychology which is something sorely lacked in this day in age.

Two guys have had a lot of opportunity in their time are Chris Jericho and Seth Rollins. Both are incredible performers and it's nice to see them working together. Other then Hardy's, Jericho is the only one in the business right now that knows how to keep reinventing himself and make others around him look good. I hope this isn't the last time we see Rollins and Jericho because they had a really good solid match. I also love the solid ending of the WWE Cruiserweight Title match. Swann, Perkins, and Kendrick has a good match but afterwards Neville came out and attacked both Swann and Perkins making his presence known. I think Neville will make a great addition to the division and help elevate it even further.

When it comes to history and women's wrestling you have to admit that Charlotte and Sasha Banks have set the bar seriously high for everyone. I really hate how they have passed the title around so much and make it seem like Sasha is not good enough to win on a pay-per-view. This was an incredible match but I am so sick and tired of this crap. The Raw Women's Division is becoming so irrelevant with Charlotte winning every pay-per-view only to lose it on a meaningless Raw. If I were the other women of Raw my moral and self-esteem would be low considering they are not getting any chances. Smackdown has the better overall women's division in terms of spotlight and giving opportunities. I was very disappointed in the outcome which in my opinion hurt the match to a certain degree. The Main Event was also hurt to a certain degree because it wasn't title for title. I strongly believe that Roman Reigns should have put the United States Championship on the line. The match was very hard hitting and physical which a championship match should be. I do like that they brought Rollins and Reigns back together because they were awesome together in The Shield and they are better now since they have gotten a lot of success as singles competitors.

I think the Raw pay-per-view was decent. Other then Cesaro and Sheamus, I feel like I get more excited about Smackdown's pay-per-views then I do Raw's pay-per-views. I feel like Smackdown has the better matches and stories. I will give Roadblock at 7 out of 10 because the matches were really good but the outcomes weren't special. At the end of 2016, Smackdown is ahead of Raw in stories, matches and pay-per-views. In 2017, Raw needs to pick up the pace, give more people opportunities and develop better stories. End of the Line was the end of the year of WWE pay-per-view and now we had into 2017 with the Royal Rumble. Who will have an impact on the Road to Wrestlemania? Stay tuned to find out.

Results, Recap, Review of WWE TLC 2016

Tonight was the annual Tables, Ladders and Chairs event for WWE and it was a Smackdown only pay-per-view. All of the matches that were announced and all of them had significance. Going into tonight all of the Smackdown Championships were on the line and it would definitely change the landscape going into 2017. Before I begin with my thought here are the results of WWE TLC:

-PreShow: American Alpha/Hype Bros/Apollo Crews defeated The Vaudevillians/The Ascension/Curt Hawkins

-Bray Wyatt/Randy Orton defeated Heath Slater/Rhyno to become the new WWE Smackdown Tag Team Champions

-Nikki Bella defeated Carmella in a NO DQ Match

-The Miz defeated Dolph Ziggler in a Ladder Match to retain the Intercontinental Champion

-Baron Corbin defeated Kalisto in a Chairs Match

-Alexa Bliss defeated Becky Lynch in a Tables Match to become the new Smackdown Women's Champion

-AJ Styles defeated Dean Ambrose in a TLC Match to retain the WWE World Championship

The opening match of the night was WWE Smackdown Tag Team Title match. This match odd and weird all over it. Rhyno and Heath Slater took on Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton. I am glad that Heath Slater has been able to be in the spotlight but at the same time I think the teaming of Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton has been genius and good for both of their careers. It's nice to see Bray Wyatt finally get a Championship on his resume. It's been long overdue and well deserved for the Bray. I don't like the fact that Nikki Bella and Carmella was No DQ but has count outs. I really thought that limited what they could do. I also thought that it was hard to live up to the NO DQ match that took place on Raw between Sasha Bank and Charlotte. Hopefully the women of Smackdown won't be upstaged by Raw again and get some more opportunities in the future to prove themselves. 

When it comes the Intercontinental Championship, the rivalry between The Miz and Dolph Ziggler has really brought back the title to the forefront. I really enjoyed the storytelling and psychology of the match. You don't see great storytelling like that too often anymore. These two have mastered it and have done it very well. This was a really great ladder match for this era. I wonder where Ziggler goes from here because the feud has ran it's course. Speaking of feuds running their course I think Smackdown needs to move on from Kalisto and Baron Corbin. I think Kalisto needs to be on Raw with the Cruiserweight Division. They had a really good match and it was very fun to watch but I just think Kalisto would be better off as a Cruiserweight. All feeling aside they made some great use of the chairs in this match and all of it looked like it hurt. They also exceeded my expectations for the match because it went way better then I thought it would.

The first women's match was kind of disappointing so I was really hoping for a great Tables Match between Alexa Bliss and Becky Lynch. This match was really good. It was better then the NO DQ match and it came pretty close to being better then Sasha Banks and Charlotte's match from Monday. I think the women of Smackdown get a lot more opportunities then the women of Raw. Having two matches on a pay-per-view really drove that point home tonight. On Raw, it's all about two women. On Smackdown, it's about all of them women. On Smackdown, it's been all about AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose the last few months. They have had a great story that's included the improbable story of James Ellsworth. Dean Ambrose is crazy and Styles is an awesome performer which is why I knew a TLC match would be great for them. This was a phenomenal match and it played into how intense this rivalry has been. My friend predicted that James Ellsworth would cost Ambrose the match and he was right. It was a crazy ending to a crazy match.

This was a really good pay-per-view. I feel like Smackdown has the better stories which makes for a better overall pay-per-view. I hope Raw took notes because they have a lot to live up to at Roadblock. I am going to give TLC at 7 out of 10. I thought all the matches were solid and overall the show was solid. Next up is Roadblock in two weeks and again the Raw brand has a lot to live up to. 

Initial Reaction to WWE 205 Live

Tonight was the first episode of WWE 205 Live which a new WWE Network Show solely dedicated to the Cruiserweight Division. I think this is a brilliant move by Triple H because of two reason. The first reason is because the Cruiserweight Classic was epic and inspiring. The second reason is because I think the division has been poorly booked and used since it arrived. I truly believe that Triple H is trying to outsmart and one up his father in law Vince McMahon. Since the beginning of the WWE Network, shows produced by Triple H have been way better then shows produced by McMahon and Kevin Dunn. Going into tonight I was hoping it wouldn't be any different.

I love at the beginning of the show they introduced everyone that's in the division because fans who don't have the WWE Network might not know who they are. The division looks solid and stacked with a lot of talent. The opening match of the night was the Bollywood Boyz taking on Tony Nese and Drew Gulak. I love the team of Nese and Gulak because they are hard hitting, bone breaking, and have some great technical wrestling. The Bollywood Boys got their first victory in WWE and it was very entertaining to see. Speaking of entertaining it was so good to see Jack Gallagher in WWE. This guy is so unique and innovative it's ridiculous. I could see this guy being a huge part of the future of WWE. In the Main Event, The Brian Kendrick defended his Cruiserweight Title against Rich Swann. It was smart of WWE to put Kendrick in the Main Event on the first show because most long time WWE fans know who he is. I love the fact they went over the time limit of what the show was suppose to because this was a really good match. This was an incredible Main Event to start of what will no doubt be an incredible show. Congratulations to Rich Swann on becoming the new WWE Cruiserweight Champion.

I really do like the concept of 205 Live. I enjoyed Austin Aries on commentary and he hinted that he could be in the Cruiserweight Division. He would be an awesome addition to the division. His experience and skills would benefit a lot of the young upstart competitors. I do wish that it was more then 45 minutes long and wish it was before Smackdown. I always enjoyed the flow of Talking Smack after Smackdown Live. I personally would love to see the show start at 6:30 and go an hour that way there was an intermission period for fans to get souvenirs and concessions. Other those things I would change I think the show is great. You really get to know the competitors in the division on this show which is a good thing, because they don't have much character on Raw. I am excited for this show, and I am excited to see where the division goes in the future. 

Was Goldberg's Win Over Lesnar Best for Business?

At Survivor Series 2016 we witnessed a shocking turn of events when Goldberg returned to defeat Brock Lesnar in 86 seconds. It was very epic, jaw dropping and left some perplexed and dumbfounded. There were a lot of different reactions, theories and thoughts about how and why this match went down. I am going to examine everything about this decision because there are lot of things to look at.

First and foremost you have to look at friendship and money. It is no secret that Lesnar and Goldberg are very good friends outside of the ring and off camera. When they left in 2004 they left together and purposely put on one of the worst matches in Wrestlemania history. Brock Lesnar is all about making money. Goldberg is all about making money.  I do have a feeling even though it's being speculated that Lesnar wanted the match to go the way it did; he probably got paid a lot of money to lose in the fashion that he did. Lesnar is about money, image and legacy so I think it took a lot of convincing from WWE's wallet to lose the quickly. I also think Lesnar see's a bigger picture in the fact that Goldberg is also a draw and he can make tons of money which is why I was not surprised to hear Goldberg signed an extension with WWE. I am not a big fan of either one because they have been very vocal in the past that they are in the business for the money and not because they care about it.

The one thing I question is the mentality of WWE basically saying no in their prime on our roster can beat Lesnar but a 50 year old man who hasn't wrestled in 12 years can beat him in 86 seconds. This is basically saying guys like CM Punk, John Cena, Randy Orton, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins aren't good enough to beat Lesnar. It also makes me question now why The Undertaker's streak was broken. WWE doesn't think of the long term implications of certain things and this is potentially one of them. I am scratching my head thinking to myself that the biggest cornerstone in WWE History had his legendary streak ended by a guy who lost in 86 seconds. Everything Lesnar did after Wrestlemania 30 was rooted back to the fact that ended the most legendary career in sports entertainment history. You also have to question why they would make a man who dominated in the UFC lose to a guy who hasn't seen any form of competition in over a decade. Lesnar recently fought in the UFC again back in July and won. Despite him testing positive for banned substance he dominated Mark Hunt in a one sided fight. So a guy who can dominate in real fighting and has been presented to be dominate in scripted fighting lost to a guy 86 seconds. I can see why some are truly upset.

When I think of Goldberg I think of his WCW days. He finished people off in a quick fashion. I think WWE has learned from it's failures and it's successes over the last two years. I think WWE realized that they failed Sting. Even though Sting had a great match against Triple H at Wrestlemania 31, he lost both pay-per-view matches he was involved with. I think this put a little dent into Sting's legacy because of their pride. Sting was always WCW and TNA loyal in his career. What should have happened is Sting should have beaten Triple H then kept it where Rollins beat Sting. This would have advanced Rollins character and persona by using his victory over Sting as a way to better himself then Triple H. In the last 10 months, WWE has learned from it successes by putting AJ Styles where he is right now. AJ Styles is a non-WWE made star. It was mentioned on a few podcasts that Vince McMahon was going to keep Styles as a mid-carder and did not realize what type of performer he had. The powers to be realized how great AJ Styles is and they decided to put him in the spotlight. I think WWE realizes that the fans loved a lot of non-WWE made stars. They love CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Cesaro, Seth Rollins, Samoa Joe, Nakamura and Bobby Roode. Triple H realizes what the fans want. I think Triple H, Brock Lesnar and a few other realized people didn't want to see the WWE version of Goldberg. They wanted to see the destroyer, bulldozer and the man who annihilated  people when he was in WCW.

Those of us on the outside will never the money aspect, the creative thinking or why things went down they way they did at Survivor Series. I think the moment made for live shocking television whether people love it or hate it. I also think this was creative and the wrestlers finally sticking it to the dirtsheets, rumors mills and the IWC. WWE has gotten a bad reputation for being "predictable." The finish of Survivor Series was anything but predictable. In the future, WWE does need to look at long term effects on their decision making but at the same time looking at what their fans want. Whether you love it, hate it or are indifferent about it what's done is done. The question now is not only is what's next but who's next for Goldberg?

Results, Recap, Review of WWE Survivor Series 2016

Tonight was the 30th Annual Survivor Series and for the first time in 11 years we saw Raw taking on Smackdown to find out who was the better brand. I haven't been really excited for a pay per view in a long time but something about this show really had my blood pumping.

-Pre-Show: Rich Swann/TJ Perkins/Noam Dar vs. Ariya Daivari/Drew Gulak/Tony Nese

-Pre-Show: Kane defeated Luke Harper

-Bayley and Charlotte are the survivors of the Women's Elimination Tag Match
-The Miz defeated Sami Zayn to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship
-Cesaro and Sheamus are the survivors of the 10 on 10 Tag Team Elimination Match
-The Brian Kendrick defeated Kalisto by DQ to retain the WWE Cruiserweight Champion and keep the Cruiserweight Division on Raw
-Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton are the survivors of the 5 on 5 Elimination Tag Team Match
-Goldberg defeated Brock Lesnar

The show started off with the 5 on 5 Women's Elimination Tag Match. Before the match started Nikki Bella was attacked backstage and therefore Natalya replaced Nikki in the tag match. I'll be curious in weeks to come to see if it was Carmella or Natalya that took Nikki out. Even though she got eliminated I have to say the star of the match was Nia Jax. She showed her force and her power during this match. It was great to see both divisions interact with each other. It goes to show you that both women's divisions have something special about them. Next up was for the Intercontinental Championship between The Miz and Sami Zayn. I was really hoping for a Zayn-Ziggler match but we got stuck with the C+ player in The Miz. I love how weak they made have made The Miz because he is weak. I really think the Maryse thing is getting old and needs to be done. It's time to bring prestige back to the Intercontinental Title and have it not be used for a sissy storyline.

It was cool to see WWE go back to what they did in the first two Survivor Series. They had a 20 man tag team match featuring 5 tag teams from each side. I wasn't surprised that Breezango got eliminated right away but I was really shocked that The New Day was eliminated right away. This was a great match. I was really shocked that it came down to The Uso's and the team Cesaro and Sheamus. I was even more shocked that Cesaro and Sheamus won the match. Raw continued their momentum by keeping the Cruiserweight Division on Raw even thought the way it happened was completely stupid. Baron Corbin was suppose to be "injured" and they blew that storyline. I feel like the powers to be are really sticking it to the dirt sheets with the how they went with the show.

With Raw heading into the final elimination tag team match with a lot of momentum I wondered how this match would go. Both teams are stacked and loaded with talent. It reminded me a lot of the WWE vs. Alliance Tag Team Match at Survivor Series in 2001. This match had a ton of carnage and even saw James Ellsworth get revenge on Braun Strowman. Braun absolutely destroyed Ellsworth afte the elimination but it was cool to see it come full circle. I am not sure how I feel about seeing Owens get eliminated as early as he did. I felt if you wanted to make both brands strong you have your champions at the end of the match. The match was just pure chaos and had some crazy spots including Shane McMahon. He took a vicious spear from Roman Reigns after diving through a table earlier in the match. When you didn't think things get any crazier Dean Ambrose came out after he was eliminated to reform The Shield and take out AJ Styles. This match was as wild as could be and I think it saved the pay-per-view a little bit. Even though it was predictable the action made up for the predictability.

The Main Event was almost 13 years in the making. Brock Lesnar and Goldberg faced each other at Wrestlemania 20 and it was complete garbage. They both left the company in such a negative way they didn't care about putting on a great match. I don't know what the terms were and who got paid so much money but the fact Goldberg beat Lesnar within 2 minutes. I am shocked and I am not sure what the story is here. It left me and many others in complete shock. For being a "Big Four" pay-per-view the WWE almost dropped the ball on this pay-per-view, The fact that Raw went up 2-0 in the elimination tag team matches made it so predictable that Smackdown was going to win the last elimination tag match. They made up for it by screwing over the dirt sheets and rumor mills with the Intercontinental Title Match, the Cruiserweight Title Match, and Goldberg versus Lesnar. At the end of the day I am going to give Survivor Series a 7.5 out of 10. We had plenty of shock at the end and very few people who survived.

Results and Recap of POG 100: 2016 Glory Cup Tournament

On Saturday November 19th, I traveled down to Coldwater Michigan to see the re-birth, re-debut and  re-establishment of Price of Glory Wrestling. It was also the return of the Glory Cup Tournament. I was expecting a good show and some solid matches, but what I got was so much more. Before I begin with my thoughts on the evening here are the results of POG Glorified:

-1st Round Match: Louis Lyndon def. Maltese Tiger

-1st Round Match: Sean Tyler defeated Officer Rod Street 

-1st Round Match: Noah Lott defeated Ames 

-1st Round Match: Chase Matthews defeated Dollar 

-Battle Royal: Final Four were Jack Thriller, Fabuzio, BAM, Johnny Dynamo 

-Fatal Four Way: Jack Thriller defeated Fabuzio, BAM, and Johnny Dynamo 

-Semi Finals: Chase Matthews defeated Noah Lott 

-Semi Finals: Louis Lyndon defeated Sean Tyler 

-Tag Team Title Match: Jack Verville/Jimmy Shawlin defeated Project Max by DQ to be declared the POG Tag Team Champions 

-Finals: Louis Lyndon defeated Chase Matthews and Jack Thriller to win 2016 Glory Cup Tournament and become the new POG Heavyweight Champion

The night started off with the POG Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. The first three inductees were Keith Creame, Christian Abel and the "Alpha Male" Monty Brown. Brown cut an epic promo saying he was far from retired. The action kicked off with Louis Lyndon and Maltese Tiger. This was a fast pace match that had a lot of amazing action. I've been watching Louis Lyndon for awhile now so I was pretty happy to see him move on in the first round. When I think of over the top characters I have to put Officer Rod Street in that same category. His crew of The Police really took it to Sean Tyler before and after the match. No matter how hard Office Rod tried it wasn't enough for him to get by Sean Tyler

In the beginning of the night, Noah Lott was introduced as the Professional Operations Supervisor. I wondered if he would abuse and use his power in this tournament and he sure did in his match against Ames. He took every shortcut possible to move on in the first round. One match that intrigued me going in was Chase Matthew and $Dollar$. Both men have had a storied past in POG, so I thought for sure there was going to be bad blood. At one point in the match Dollar's former tag team partner Noah Lott made his way to the ring to try get him an advantage. Dollar wanted no part of it, but in the the slight distractions by Noah Lott ended up costing Dollar the match. Even after the match Lott attacked Matthews to try and gain an advantage into the next round

This year there was a third participant in the Glory Cup Finals and it was determined by a Battle Royal but there was a twist. The final four men in the match would move on to a one fall fatal four way match to determine a spot in the finals. The final four were Fabuzio, BAM, Johnny Dynamo and Jack Thriller. These four have poured their heart and soul into POG over the years, so it was only fitting they competed for the third spot. In the end, it was Jack Thriller who got the victory and a chance to compete for the POG Glory Cup. In the first semi final match Chase Matthews finally put an end to the threat of Noah Lott for the night much to the delight of the crowd. Noah Lott tried to shortcut his way again, but this time Matthews would have none of it. In the second semi final match the injuries to Sean Tyler would catch up to him as Louis Lyndon secured a spot into the finals. 

Before the Glory Cup Finals there was a match to determine the POG Tag Team Championship. It was scheduled to be Pretty Nifty versus The Popular Electronics. Mr. Nifty was unable to compete due to injury. Jack Verville proposed a one on one match but Max Morrison would have none of it. From the start of the match Morrison and his partner Jimmy Shawlin were fighting about everything. At one point in the match Shawlin walked out on Morrison, but was the attacked by members of Project Max. It was now a 3 on 1 match with odds seemingly against Verville. However we would see that Jimmy Shawlin had a heart and put himself in Verville's corner. Morrison eventually got frustrated with this move and got himself disqualified. As a result of these actions the Tag Team Championships were awarded to Jack Verville and Jimmy Shawlin. I guess going forward they are going to be "Pretty Hype."

Little did I know in the beginning of the night that the winner of the Glory Cup Tournament would be getting more then a trophy. It was announced that the winner of the tournament would also become the new POG Heavyweight Champion. Louis Lyndon, Chase Matthews and Jack Thriller all showed respect for each other and the fans before the match began. These three were having a classic match until once again Noah Lott interfered and influenced the outcome of the match. If you would have told me that he had Louis Lyndon in his back pocket I would have called you crazy. Noah Lott had help from Fabuzio and one of Rod Street's Officers to screw over Matthews and Thriller. The crowd was furious and Dan Severn was none to happy either. Once the match was over Dollar returned to aide Chase Matthews and threw down a challenge for the next show. At the next show it will be Dollar, Chase Matthews and Jack Thriller taking on Noah Lott and two partners of his choosing. Even though Noah Lott has the power he ultimately still answers to Dan Severn who made the match official.

This show was so fun and incredible to be a part of. My Fantastic Four Performances of the night go to Louis Lyndon, Chase Matthews, Jimmy Shawlin and Noah Lott. Results, Recap, Review of WWE NXT Takeover Toronto

On Saturday night, the night before Survivor Series NXT invaded Toronto as part of a huge wrestling weekend for WWE. Every Takeover has been special and has always set the bar for the events of a huge weekend like this. Before I begin with my thoughts here the results from Takeover:

-Bobby Roode defeated Tye Dillinger 

-The Authors of Pain defeated TM-61 to win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic

-DIY defeated The Revival in a 2 out of 3 Falls Match to win the NXT Tag Team Championships

-Asuka defeated Mickie James to retain the NXT Women's Championship

-Samoa Joe defeated Shinsuke Nakamura to win the NXT Championship

The first match of the night was two Canadians taking on each other and that was Bobby Roode and Tye Dillinger. This was a awesome match for Tye Dillinger. I think he's proven he can hang with the best. He has definitely overcome a lot in his career. Even though Roode won the match I truly believe this match elevated Dillinger in a great way. This was followed up by the Finals of the Dusty Rhodes Classic. Both teams in this match are fairly new regulars to NXT so it was great to see some new blood get the spotlight. It was no surprise to me that the Authors of Pain won but TM-61 is going to be a great tag team for the future. I believe both teams will eventually contend and compete for the NXT Tag Titles by the time it's all said and done. 

We go from one tag team match to another. This one was for the NXT Tag Titles between DIY and The Revival. When they faced off in Brooklyn it was one of the absolute best tag team matches I have ever seen. Soon after that Ciampa and Gargano faced off in the Cruiserweight Classic and proved they can be the best match on the card whether it be in singles or tag team competition.This match was incredible and it lived up to the standards they set in Brooklyn. I am so happy for DIY and the run they have been on together. When it comes to incredible runs no one has had the run that Asuka has had since she's been in NXT. Tonight she faced her biggest test in Mickie James. I was shocked on how well Mickie James performed. It's been six year since she's been in a WWE ring and she looked great. This was a great match for Asuka because she has not been tested whatsoever. She was tested tonight and she earned every bit of the victory.

The Main Event was for the NXT Championship which featured Samoa Joe trying to recapture the NXT Championship from Shinsuke Nakamura. These two had a great match in Brooklyn and they have been at each others throats since then. Nakamura had an epic entrance but I was surprised how well Samoa Joe was received by the crowd. This match was hard hitting, fast paced and completely insane. I am absolutely shocked that Samoa Joe has become the first two time NXT Champion. I honestly didn't see that coming. It makes you wonder who is going up and who is staying down. I will be very curious to see how this all plays out. With that being said I will give NXT Takeover Toronto an 8.5 out of 10. The crowd was electric as always, and the matches were very very solid. Everyone tonight should be proud if what they did tonight! All I got to say is good luck to Survivor Series. They are going to need it after what we saw at NXT Takeover Toronto!

Antonio Brown's Cleats are the Real MVP in the 2016 NFL Season

At the end of the season I have no doubt that many people will be talking about the rookie seasons of Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott and the comeback of Tom Brady. Another thing people will be talking about is the the political crap that hurt the NFL in such a way that the ratings have been the worst they have been in years. What people should be talking about is the humility and respect that Antonio Brown has shown this season. Instead of expressing himself negatively he found ways to express himself positively. In a year where so many players have been negative, disrespectful and self absorbed Brown decided to take a positive route even if it meant being fined or removed from a game.

This year Antonio Brown has worn cleats honoring his children, Muhammad Ali, Kimbo Slice, Jose Fernandez, Arnold Palmer and Pat Tillman. A fine for violating the NFL uniform policy is a maximum of $9,115. Considering Brown is under a 5 year, $41,960,000 contract I am guessing that's pocket change for him. The fact that the NFL will allow players to kneel during the National Anthem but give Brown a hard time about honoring athletes who passed away is absurd and ridiculous. The problem with the NFL and now the NBA needs to allow it's team and players a little more freedom when it comes to paying respect towards others. It's not like they altered the helmet or the jersey. They are shoes and they are not disrespecting the team that Brown plays. If the Steelers had an issue with it then I might be able to understand that but it's just the NFL trying to act tough and play favorites. I think the NFL needs to leave what a player wears on his feet up to the individual team.

With just a few weeks left in the NFL I will be curious to see what else Antonio Brown does with his cleats. It's been fun watching him defy the league.  I personally would love to see him get duplicates of each tribute cleat and give them to the families of the athletes he paid tribute to. When I look back on the 2016 NFL Season I will remember what two Dallas Cowboys rookies did, I will try forget how disrespectful certain players were and I will remember how cool it was that Antonio Brown gave respect to athletes of different sports and acknowledged how great their accomplishments were! I hope more athletes in the future will pay homage to the legends before them and express who influenced them. Antonio Brown thank you for your humility and making us all aware that athletes can have a powerful and positive influence on someone if they use their status in the right way.

Interview with Noah Lott: Return of POG, Concussions, WWE and More

On November 19th in Coldwater, Michigan wrestling fans will witness the return of Dan Severn's Price of Glory Wrestling. With this return comes a lot of changes in leadership, training and how the promotion will be ran. One of those changes will was the announcement of a new Professional Operations Supervisor. That position will be held by none other then a POG Original Noah Lott. Noah Lott trained under Dan Severn starting 2004 and has held all three titles that POG has had to offer. This will be the first Price of Glory event in three and ironically enough it will be their 100th show. With a lot riding on the line I reached to Noah Lott regarding his future, the future of POG, and what we can expect at the 2016 Glory Cup. I give you Noah Lott:

It has been over three years since Price of Glory Wrestling ran a show. It was left at 99 shows. What was the motivation to get POG to it's 100th show? 

Respect. Respect to Mr. Severn that has put so much into the company. Respect to the workers that had put fourth so much effort and sacrifices for us and our shows for the past 99. I guess also just because 100 is a milestone for independent wrestling and we just had to by any way possible. It was our goal, now our goal will be accomplished. 

In your position as The Professional Operations Supervisor what will be your duties? 

Just that; the day to day operations making sure we can put fourth the best possible product while also using the best talent within our reach. Who do you look forward to seeing return at POG? Wow that's a hard question, I don't know if there is someone more important or that I'd rather see more then another. Most original wrestlers that used to work for us have moved on to other things so I will be glad to see everyone. 

Who would you like to see come in to POG and make an impact? 

Let's just say we have many things in the works and fans will be pleasantly surprised by who we will already be bringing in. What can we expect from POG in 2017? Unique and meaningful matches, surprise new and old talent, and of course a great product. In terms of your own career how has POG helped you? POG was one of many places where I honed my skills and talent. It was a great place with great workers where I felt I got better and helped others as well. 

At POG Moment of Truth in April 2005 you had a classic match with Jack Thriller. In that match you suffered a pretty severe concussion. How have concussions effected your career? Effected my career? I've never heard it asked that way before. It has effected my life more so then anything else. Day to day life must be altered to deal with ongoing issues from concussions. 

What is your advice for athletes who get a concussion? 

Take the proper time away, follow the guidelines of your doctor and by all means don't return unless told your able to. 

You wrestled a Dark Match on WWE Monday Night Raw in Grand Rapids, MI. What was going through your mind throughout the day and when you walked through the curtain? Throughout the day was filled with excitement and joy. Going through that curtain for the first time will be something I cherish and will never forget. I was focused and ready to wrestle; what I was supposed to do with my life. 

You were also involved in the elevator brawl between Randy Orton and Wade Barrett. What was the experience like? 

It was still thrilling even though I had now been with WWE before. I was just glad to be apart of the planning process and see the overall outcome and angle become a success. 

Outside of WWE what do you consider your great accomplishment? I think going to Japan and being able to train and see other aspects of there style opened my eyes and also helped push my mind to stay focused. 

What is your favorite memory/match in your time at POG? 

I would have to say my no limits match against Dollar. I still hold the chaotic championship... technically. 

What does the future hold for POG? 

I'm not sure, I just want people, fans, and workers to remember POG for what it was. If we can continue more and more great, if not; at least we made it to 100. 

What does the future hold for Noah Lott? 

I'm in the process of transitioning and I hope to continue wrestling in some capacity but also help young guys and girls achieve their dreams like I got to. 

Any final thoughts? 

If you try hard enough for long enough your bound to succeed. Knowledge is power; study a lot, learn a lot, know a lot.

Results, Review, Recap of WWE Hell in a Cell 2016

Tonight was the annual Hell in a Cell event for WWE. It was promoted as a triple main event due to three matches being inside the demonic structure. On paper this looked far better then No Mercy a couple of weeks ago but could this highly promoted pay-per-view live up to the hype? Before I begin with my thoughts here are the results of WWE Hell in a Cell

-Roman Reigns defeated Rusev to retain the WWE United States Title

-Bayley defeated Dana Brooke

-Karl Anderson/Luke Gallows defeated Enzo/Big Cass

-Kevin Owens defeated Seth Rollins to retain the WWE Universal Championship

-The Brian Kendrick defeated TJ Perkins to win the WWE Cruiserweight Championship

-Cesaro/Sheamus defeated The New Day by DQ, New Day retains the Tag Team Championships

-Charlotte defeated Sasha Banks to win the WWE Women's Championship

The show opened up with the United States Championship match inside the Cell. Reigns and Rusev have had two physical encounters prior to this and they both were really funny to watch. It's hard getting into the cell matches because they can't be as violent as they use to be. This was a normal match for them but just inside the cell. Nothing really stood out to me except for a couple of kendo shots, and a steel chain being used. Another disappointment lately has been Dana Brooke and Bayley and their feud. Dana has made a lot of mental errors and she needs more work before she's going to get to the elite level.

One thing that's not disappointing is the energy and the mic skills of Enzo and Big Cass. They are so entertaining. It's a good mesh of how serious Gallows and Anderson are. In my opinion this would be a great Wrestlemania feud if it was done right. I think right now they are holding Enzo and Cass back until Wrestlemania season so they can to do something big at Wrestlemania 33. From a wrestling standpoint The Club is great and from an entertainment standpoint Enzo and Big Cass are great, The second Hell in a  Cell match was for the WWE Universal Championship, This match was way better then first cell match of the night. This match had some decent brutality for a PG Hell in a Cell match. Two referees got injured, Chris Jericho interferes and Kevin Owens went through two tables. What more could you ask for in a modern day Cell match?

I really enjoy the fact that there was a story behind the WWE Cruiserweight Championship match. A lot of people think the Cruiserweight Division has no character and no stories. This matched proved that those statements couldn't be further from the truth. I love the match that Kendrick and Perkins had because of their history and the fact Kendrick is getting his redemption. Speaking of interesting stories I think the team of Sheamus and Cesaro has been very interesting. As someone said they are Team Hell No 2.0 and it's a big thing to fill. I say that because I don't think anyone will ever top Kane and Daniel Bryan in terms of odd couple tag teams. I love that they didn't totally job out Sheamus and Cesaro and made them look strong.

The Main Event tonight was history in the making. It was the first time in WWE history that two women have been the main event of a pay-per-view and the first time two women have been inside the Hell in a Cell. I was very intrigued, interested and concerned how this match was going to go down. Hell in a Cell has made and broken careers over the last twenty years so could they live up to the hype? This match started out fast pace and then Charlotte powerbombed Sasha through a table and it seemed to be legitimately hurt. If she's legit hurt then she has a lot of guts going through with this match. If she's not hurt then that's the best selling of an injury I've seen in a long time. As much as I respect the women of WWE I wasn't sure if this is the type of match they should have made history in because the problem is that Rollins and Owens kind of set the bar earlier in the night. I almost would have much rather seen a Ladder Match out of the women. The match was decent but I hate the booking of the rivalry right now. Sasha can only win the title on TV but is not good enough to keep it on a pay-per-view? I really don't know what they are doing with this division but right now it's not good. Sasha and Charlotte did endure a lot of punishment so I will give them a ton of credit for what they went through tonight. I'd have to give the Hell in a Cell show a 6.5 out of 10. Smackdown continues to deliver the better matches and stories. Next pay-per-view we get to see Raw vs. Smackdown at Survivor Series. Reigns, Owens and Charlotte survived tonight but in three weeks time who will survive at Survivor Series?

Marching Bands Deserve More Recognition: Thoughts on East Kentwood Invitational

This past weekend on cool fall day I sat in the bleachers at the East Kentwood High School Football Stadium to watch twenty four High School Marching Bands take the field. The East Kentwood Marching Band Invitational has always been near and dear to my heart because it was the last time I played in a Marching Band setting during my time in high school. Growing up I couldn't play sports so when I go to 6th music really came into my life and I joined the band in the percussion section. I had an awesome band instructor at Wayland. She made me feel part of a family, made me realize I could achieve whatever I wanted to achieve and gave me realization that if I put my heart and mind to it I could be a leader. Mrs. Stephenson was one of three teachers I had that really had an impact on me during my school years. Even though I left band my junior year my love for music never died. It's ironic that I left band to take on more responsibilities in journalism and here I am fourteen years later writing about an band invitational that took place this past weekend. 

As I sat and watched each of the twenty four bands play and perform I kept thinking to myself what a lot of hard work and effort by each band. Each band had it's own unique look, sound, color and theme. There were some bands that even brought some crazy pops that you would have never seen fifteen years ago. When I was in high school the halftime show was just a time where people went concessions and didn't pay much attention unless you had a kid in the band. It was so great to see the stands packed at East Kentwood. I think it was great to see that there was so much respect and admiration for each band that performed. These kids pour their heart out when it comes to the hard work and many hours preparing for performances like these.

Even though I played on the sidelines in the three years I was in Marching Band I remember how hard we all had to work to put on a great performance. A lot goes into the movements, the music and making sure the theme that the bands are performing are well represented. It takes a lot of skill and coordination to do what these kids do. It's these very reasons why I don't think Marching Bands don't get the credit they deserve. While most high schools focus on their athletic programs they should focus on their marching band programs and give it equal treatment. It takes a special group of people to be able move on a field the way they do and play an instrument the way they do. I think more attention and more focus should be given to marching bands and I am not talking just about the high school level either.

I think Universities should give out equal scholarships with equal value that they would to an athlete. Based on what I saw at East Kentwood there quite a few kids that deserve a scholarship to a university to have a great education in music or what ever career path they decide on. I also think more professional sports teams should use local and state high school bands for their halftime shows. Marching Bands, fine, arts, performing arts or what ever you consider deserve more promotion and awareness. I think playing an instrument is a beautiful thing. East Kentwood was just one invitational with twenty four bands. Can you just imagine how many great musicians there are in Michigan, in the United States and around the world? I am so grateful I got to experience twenty four unique colors, unique sounds and unique presentations. It is a lot of hard work but it was also very rewarding and tons of fun. Long live music and long live Marching Bands.

The NHL-Dallas Stars Send the Right Message Unlike the NFL

This past Thursday Night during the Dallas Stars home opener the team honored the Dallas Police Officers that were killed on July 7th. Those officers were DPD Senior Cpl. Lorne Ahrens, DPD Officer Michael Krol, DPD Sgt. Michael Smith, DART Officer Brent Thompson, and DPD Officer Patricio "Patrick" Zamarripa. They and their families were honored by helmet decals and a pregame ceremony. It was a very emotional and very classy by the Stars, their fans and the NHL. I think it's great that the National Hockey League does not have any political agendas and knows who protects us, fights for us and put their lives on the line so we can have our freedoms and safety. 

Just a few months earlier the Dallas Cowboys wanted to pay tribute to the fallen officers as well. The NFL said no way and blocked all attempts for the Dallas Cowboys to pay tribute during their home opener. The NFL has proved to be hypocritical this year. The won't allow a tribute to men and women who protects our cities, communities and neighborhoods but they will let people kneel, sit, raise their fists and disrespect the American Flag in whatever way they want. The Dallas Stars tribute to the fallen Police Officers actually stood for something. The movement that Colin Kaepernick started in the preseason has no meaning and hasn't stood for anything. All he and other players have done is make a scene and bring attention to themselves because they wouldn't be relevant in any other way. They have not taken any action in their communities or educate to youth on the issues that are plaguing this country. At least the Dallas Stars are trying to unite the city, pay respects to the families who were effected and showed that everyone in this country matters know matter what race, religion or background you come from. 

The other point hypocrisy of the NFL is that kneeling, sitting and other disrespectful acts toward the flag are considered freedom of expression but what about Antonio Brown's freedom of expression? Antonio Brown has worn special cleats honoring his kids and athletes who have passed away this year and what has he gotten from honoring people that meant something to him? He's been fined, been told to remove his cleats and has been threatened with other punishment if he continues to wear them. I really believe that the NFL has no class and is probably the most hypocritical sports organization in this country. I have never seen this type of hypocrisy in the MLB, NBA or the NHL. Whenever we lose troops, police officers, firefighters or anyone else that serves this country these three organizations are always very classy. I have never been a big fan of hockey. I'll be the first to admit that it's never been my main focus in sports. However on Thursday Night they made me a fan. They made me want to focus on their sport more. Hopefully someday the NFL will learn a lesson from the NHL and drop the political agendas. For now I'll be happy the other three sports organizations are great about doing the right thing when the situation arises for them to do so. God Bless the NHL and Dallas Stars for paying tribute to the fallen. God Bless the families for being the true Stars of Dallas on Thursday and allowing the city, the team and the NHL for allowing them to show their love, respect and gratitude.

Results, Review, Recap of WWE No Mercy 2016

Tonight for the first time in a long time the WWE Championship was not the Main Event of a solo brand Pay-Per-View. It also marked the first time in history that the WWE Championship Match was the first match on the card. The reason for the changes is due to the Sunday Night Football game and the Presidential Debate. I was very curious to see how this would come across after I heard this news. Before I get into on how the show went here are the results of the return of No Mercy.

-AJ Styles defeated John Cena and Dean Ambrose to retain the WWE Championship
-Nikki Bella defeated Carmella
-Rhyno/Heath Slater defeated The Uso's to retain the WWE Tag Team Championships
-Baron Corbin defeated Jack Swagger
-Dolph Ziggler defeated The Miz to become the new WWE Intercontinental Championship
-Naomi defeated Alexa Bliss
-Bray Wyatt defeated Randy Orton

Tonight's show kicked off with the what is usually the main event of a show. AJ Styles defended the WWE Championship against Dean Ambrose and John Cena. This was an incredible match to open a show. I guess it's a good idea it went on first because this was too good of match to be missed for the Presidential Election. The heck with Clinton and Trump. Styles, Ambrose and Cena had a better battle tonight. Styles retains and proves why he is more phenomenal then anyone on the roster or any presidential candidate. How do you follow a WWE Title Match? John Cena;s girlfriend Nikki Bella took on Carmella in a feud that's been highly entertaining. Carmella has been great as a heel considering she wasn't getting over as a face. I think Carmella has a great future in the women's division but for now Nikki Bella is still the woman.

When it comes to faces of divisions The Uso's have been the face of the division for quite some time. Even though they haven't had the tag titles in quite sometime they are one of the best teams to ever come around. I was actually very surprised to see Heath Slater and Rhyno retain the titles. The other thing that was surprising is the great chemistry between Baron Corbin and Jack Swagger. Both are great athletes in their own right. I hope to see more of Swagger and Corbin in the future. Speaking of futures it's great to see that the dirtsheets were wrong and Dolph Ziggler is the new Intercontinental Champion. This is definitely a match of the year candidate. Usually the best of friends have the best chemistry and The Miz and Dolph Ziggler are no different. Even though they are no Shawn Michaels and Triple they are the closest thing to what they were in this generation of WWE.

One thing that obviously disappointing was the fact that Becky Lynch was injured and couldn't compete against Alexa Bliss. Naomi ended up being Alexa's opponent. They had a solid little match but I thought it was a bad booking decision to have your number contender lose a match considering the champion wasn't there. Another booking decision that I question is putting on Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton on last. The last image of No Mercy should have been Dolph Ziggler holding the IC Championship high and celebrating the crowd.

Smackdown has been the better show with better matches and stories. Their pay-per-view and TV show consistently keep moving and are not as drawn out as Raw usually is. I got to give this pay per view an 8 out of 10 because of World Title match and Intercontinental Title match. All the title matches on Smackdown have been great as of late. With that being said lets see what Raw does in three weeks for Hell in a Cell!

Cam Newton Still Hasn't Gotten Over Super Bowl 50

This past February at Super Bowl when the Carolina Panthers faced off against the Denver Broncos many people thought that this was an easy win for the Panthers. After all they went 15-1, set a lot of records and were healthy on both sides of the ball. The Broncos hobbled their way into the playoffs with a Quarterback who was a shell of himself when he was in his prime. However the Broncos defense did what no one else had done all of last season. They got to Cam and got to Cam Newton early. I truly believe after the first half the Cam gave up. All of his life he's been about winning, performing under pressure, and putting his teams in a position to win got the better of him. He won the Heisman, won a National Champion, and did a lot of great stuff leading up to Super Bowl 50. I thought this loss would have motivated him to come and shred teams more so then last year but that has not happened.

The first regular season game of the year was a rematch of the Super Bowl against none other Denver Broncos. The Quarterbacks had changed but the defense for Denver remained intact if not better then before. Cam took some brutal hits some of which were very questionable. In the first half, Cam and the Panthers looked like they were going to steamroll right through Denver but it wasn't so. The 2nd half Cam looked like he had no confidence, no control and he did not look like the Cam Newton of 2015. The Broncos ended up winning by one point and I believe this loss triggered everything Cam went through in the Super Bowl.

Here we are at the end of week four. The Panthers are 1-3, having been dominated by the Vikings and Falcons. Cam has lost control of his team, and now has a concussion due to poor decision making with the football. For me it goes back to February and week one against the Broncos. I think teams watched what the Broncos did to him and they are taking notes. If Cam is going to be the fierce leader he was last year he needs to make adjustments, quit worrying about his image and focus on football. I know there is pressure from the media and fans to take a stance on social issues and be a political activist but he's not being paid to do those things. He's paid to be a great football player and right now he's not playing great. The past is the past and that's where Cam needs to leave it. Quit worrying about the games you lost and worry about the ones you need to win.

If the Panthers are going to be contenders again then Cam needs to step up and play with no fear like he did last year. If he can get his confidence, his swagger and his fierceness back then the Panthers could be legit contenders for the next several years. If Cam chooses to play the way he has and make poor decisions with the football then the Panthers will continue to be the mediocre team that they have been in the first four games of this season. Only time will tell to see what Cam Newton we will get.

Booing Roman Reigns is No Longer the Cool Thing To Do

This past Sunday at Clash of Champions Roman Reigns competed in a very physical match against Rusev and walked away with the United States Championship. Roman Reigns came into the WWE with Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins as The Shield. The Shield ran hard in 2013 and into the early months of 2014. When The Shield broke up all three men went their own ways. Seth Rollins was backed by The Authority while Ambrose and Reigns chased after him. I want to take you back to the Royal Rumble in 2014. The final two men were Batista and Roman Reigns. The crowd desperately wanted Reigns to beat Batista but it didn't happen. Over the next year Roman Reigns was being pushed heavily as the guy to replace John Cena but fans didn't take to it very well.

At Wrestlemania 31, Reigns took a massive beating from Brock Lesnar and proved just how tough he was. He proved he belong in the Main Event and proved he's the only one who could take such a beating. Even then the fans still did not respect him. He spent most of 2015 chasing Rollins but once Rollins got injured he feuded with Sheamus and Triple H. From Survivor Series 2015 to Wrestlemania 32 Reigns captured the WWE Title 3 times, Even though he was the anti-establishment guy he was still being boo'd, Many people have stated that "Roman Reigns is being shoved down our throats." Even I didn't care for how much was being used. WWE in it's history has had a habit of only making one mega star for an era. They did it with Hogan, Cena and were trying to do it with Reigns. The fans caught on and made WWE take a different approach.

Back in June Roman Reigns violated the WWE's Wellness Policy and I'll be the first to admit that I was extremely disappointed but I also realize people make mistakes and learn from them. The previous months leading up to this suspension Reigns had two phenomenal matches with AJ Styles. It was in these matches that I realized it was no longer cool to boo or hate on Roman Reigns. Some might say guys like Styles, Rollins and Balor carried Reigns in those matches but the last I checked it takes two to have a great match. So what's everyone going to say about his matches with Rusev? No disrespect to Rusev but he's nowhere near the performer of an AJ Styles or Finn Balor. Reigns can have great matches with anyone on the roster because he himself has become an elite performer. I personally think that one of the reasons he's become an elite performer is because he teamed with Seth Rollins in The Shield. I think he learned a lot from Rollins and has carried on what he's learned from his time in The Shield.

Right now Reigns is in a a good place right now. He's the United States Champion who will make that title who will make that title mean something again. People got their wish and Reigns is not main eventing but he is putting on main event type performances. I think this is the right path for Reigns to get back into the main event spotlight and WWE Universal Championship picture. At this point if you're hating on Reigns and booing him then you're obviously a fan that will never be happy with anything. Fans should just be happy going to a show and enjoying the product that's put in front of them. I think Reigns is still a big part of the future for WWE and his abilities, talent and passion should be appreciated. I choose not to boo or hate Roman Reigns because at this point there is no reason to. I hope someday he will get the respect he deserves and people will appreciate his efforts night in night out. 

Results, Review, Recap of WWE Clash of Champions 2016

For the last month I kept telling myself Night of Champions is coming up but this year they renamed it Clash of Champions. Clash of the Champions use to be an old WCW show that was aired every few months almost like a free pay-per-view. The question is could WWE live up the legendary hype that WCW set for these events. Before I can begin those thoughts here are the results of Clash of Champions

-Preshow: Nia Jax defeated Alicia Fox

-The New Day defeated Luke Gallows/Karl Anderson to retain the WWE Tag Team Championship

-TJ Perkins defeated Brian Kendrick to retain the WWE Cruiserweight Champion

-Cesaro and Sheamus ended in a No Contest

-Chris Jericho defeated Sami Zayn

-Charlotte defeated Sasha Banks and Bayley to retain the WWE Women's Championship

-Roman Reigns defeated Rusev to win the WWE United States Championship

-Kevin Owens defeated Seth Rollins to retain the WWE Universal Championship

The opening match of the Clash was for the WWE Tag Team Championships. The New Day went in to tonight as champions for 399 days. It looks like they are going to keep those titles for at least 400 days. I really do hope The Club eventually get those titles because if they do they would only be the third team in history to hold the WWE and IWGP Tag Team Titles. The other two are The Dudley Boys and The Steiner Brothers. That is very impressive company to be in once they get there.Speaking of getting in the history books, it's great to see the WWE Cruiserweight Championship back. This has been a long time coming but the one thing I didn't care for is how they changed the ring ropes and turnbuckles for one match. They need to be looked at as equals among the rest of the roster. Now for all the people complaining about the Cruiserweights just don't get it. Even though it was a solid match they do not need to ever do the purple ropes again. Those ropes were very slippery and it could have ended up badly for both competitors.

Something that hasn't been bad has been the Best of 7 Series between Cesaro and Sheamus. Sheamus won the first 3 matches, and Cesaro won the next 3 matches. This match was very physical and brutal. This match was really good but Cesaro took a very unnecessary risk. Both men took some risks but that's what happens when you're overlooked and underutilized. Since the match ended in a No Contest what do you end up doing? I think they both deserve a title shot or put together as a tag team possibly. When it comes to get deserved attention there are no two guys right now who are more deserving then Sami Zayn and Chris Jericho. Jericho has been awesome in terms of character and telling a story and being extremely entertaining as of late. Zayn always delivers in his matches and hopefully they don't hold him back like they have others before him. The match was very solid except for a few questionable spots but I don't agree with Jericho winning. It doesn't do anything for his career whereas it would have helped Zayn's.

In a match where I didn't care who won was the WWE Women's Championship match. All three women are worthy of that title. All three women have put on incredible matches in the past. This was an incredible match for all three competitors. All three women should be applauded for their efforts no matter who won. Charlotte has now won 12 pay-per-view matches since her arrival and it her momentum is continuing to grow as each day progresses. When you talk momentum you have to talk about Roman Reigns and Rusev. These two have been built very heavily but and I was hoping that something would give tonight. Rusev and Reigns had an awesome match, I think this is a redemption road for Roman Reigns. I am hoping that this United States title win will bring more prestige for the title and this will get Reigns back to where he needs to be. I don't know what people have against Reigns but it's ridiculous. Congratulation to Reigns for winning the U.S. Title.

The Main Event of the evening was between Kevin Owens defending Universal Championship against Seth Rollins. I love how Foley and Steph were kissing up to both competitors. That's the problem with Raw is that they are still making it about the people in charge instead of the people in the ring. Both Owens and Rollins are a product of Ring of Honor and if you would have asked me 5 years ago if they would be main eventing a WWE show I would have thought otherwise. WWE has become a little bit more open minded with who is being put in the spotlight.  People can say what they want about ratings and who is champion but it wouldn't matter if it was Rollins or Owen as champion. During NFL season the ratings suck all around but that doesn't mean they shouldn't put in the effort. I feel like these two put in a good effort but no one will care because everyone cares too much about the viewership of Raw. Owens kept the gold but they sure made an interesting story out of Jericho's interference. Clash of Champions was a solid pay-per-view and I will give it 7 out of 10. I think Styles vs. Ambrose was better then Owens vs. Rollins. Next up for Raw is Hell in a Cell on October 30th. They have a lot to build on but also a lot to improve on. Tonight was about the champion but in 5 weeks it will be about hell inside Hell in a Cell!

WWE Cruiserweight Classic: Episode 10 (Final Episode)

Tonight was the finals of the Cruiserweight Classic and what a great two months this has been. I have seen so many great matches from so many amazing competitors but only one of thirty can win. Tonight it was down to the final four and those men were TJ Perkins, Gran Metalik, Zack Sabre Jr, and Kota Ibushi. Each man had their own path to go through in order to get here and it wasn't easy. TJ Perkins had to go through Da Mack, Johnny Gargano and Rich Swann to secure a spot in the semifinals. Gran Metalik had some tough challengers in Alejandro Saez, Tajiri, and Akira Tozawa. Zack Sabre Jr, conquered Tyson Dux, Drew Gulak and Noam Dar to make his way into the semifinals. Lastly, Kota Ibushi had great matches against Sean Maluta, Cedric Alexander and Brian Kendrick to be where he's at in the tournament. With all of these great matches and competitors I was excited to see what exactly what was going to go down tonight. 

The first match of the evening was between Gran Metalik and Zack Sabre Jr. This match got off to a very fast start with the clash of styles. I could not believe the action I saw in this match. Metalik brought the fight to Sabre Jr. and he earned every be bit of that victory. I really thought that Sabre was going to submit Metalik on multiple occasions. I have to consider this a huge upset because Sabre has had so much momentum all over the world against some of the biggest names in the industry. How do you follow that? Well TJ Perkins and Kota Ibushi had to follow that and they had a classic encounter. They had a mixture of aerial tactics, technical mastery and even some strong style. I was shocked as I could be to see TJ Perkins tap out Kota Ibushi. I know some fans are probably upset that Ibushi and Sabre didn't advance to the finals but at the end of the day it's somewhat of a political move. Ibushi and Sabre did not sign with WWE. Perkins and Metalik did sign with WWE and got rewarded with being put in the spotlight.

When it comes to the spotlight no two guys have been more deserving as of late then Johnny Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa. DIY tagged up tonight to take on Noam Dar and Cedric Alexander. I am so glad Alexander got a chance in the spotlight as well as Noam Dar. They put up one hell of a fight against DIY. I am so excited for this Cruiserweight Division to start on Raw. With how drawn out Raw is these days it will be a breath of fresh air to have the Cruiserweights on the show. Before we can get to Raw we have to talk about the finals. Gran Metalik and TJ Perkins had two incredible matches to get to the finals. How would their endurance be? What would their game plans be? Before we could find all this out Triple H came out and announced that this finals match would be for the new WWE Cruiserweight Champion This announcement fueled Perkins and Metalik even more. Perkins technical prowess and Metalik's high flying moves made for a great match. At the end of the night we saw TJ Perkins  become the new WWE Cruiserweight Champion along with winning the Cruiserweight Classic Tournament Trophy. This was the best two hours of wrestling that I have seen in a long time. I am sad to see this tournament end but I look forward to future CWC Tournaments.

If you did not watch the Cruiserweight Classic you need to sit down and watch it from start to finish. I have to applaud Triple H, William Regal and the rest of people behind this tournament. This was a genius move by Triple H and the WWE. This has been an incredible 10 weeks of great professional wrestling action. I cannot wait for the future of the Cruiserweight Division and I for one hope they continue to do this tournament.

Results, Review, Recap of WWE Backlash 2016

Tonight was the first Smackdown pay-per-view since the two shows split . I went into this pay per view worrying because of the lack of depth. I am glad they brought back a classic name for a show in Backlash. Could this Backlash live up to the of previous Backlash shows? Before I talk about the night here are the results:

-PreShow: Baron Corbin defeated Apollo Crews

-Becky Lynch wins the 6 Pack Challenge to become the First WWE Smackdown Women's Championship

-The Uso's defeated The Hype Bros.

-The Miz defeated Dolph Ziggler to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

-Kane defeated Bray Wyatt in a No Holds Barred

-Heath Slater/Rhyno defeated The Uso's to win the WWE Tag Team Championships

-AJ Styles defeated Dean Ambrose to win the WWE Championship

The opening match was the 6-Pack Elimination for the Smackdown Women's Championship. All 6 women put on one hell of an effort. It's great to see Becky Lynch finally get her due. I think this women's championship really showcased the talent of these women. They have a lot talent but they also have room to improve. Another thing that needs improvement is the booking of the tag team division. It makes no sense to reward a tag team for injuring another tag team, I understand the heel vs. face concept but I would have been content with a face vs. face match with The Uso's interfering in the finals. 

When it comes to right booking and great matches I love The Miz vs, Dolph Ziggler any time they have a match against each other. They are really good friends which means they always have great chemistry.  I love the heat that The Miz getting these days. People are actually somewhat talking about him again. They had another great match for the most prestigious belt in the WWE. I think The Miz's reign and momentum is far from over. I think they need him to hold the title for awhile longer to really bring some legitimacy back to the title. We go from a good championship match a rather boring No Holds Barred Match! Randy Orton is still suffering from his match against Brock Lesnar and Kane ended up being his replacement. Orton ultimately came out and cost Wyatt the match to continue the feud that is suppose to happen.

As I mentioned before The Uso's advanced to take on Heath Slater and Rhyno for the WWE Tag Titles. I still don't like The Uso's on TV and still don't like them in real life. I really don't like how it was booked but I am so happy that Heath Slater and Rhyno got put into the spotlight. I really hope Heath Slater starts being used properly. He's been in the company for so long and now he's getting a good spot in the company. When it comes to great spots in the company AJ Styles has earned his top spot in the company with all these incredible matches he's had since his arrival. He definitely deserves the WWE Championship to his list of accolades. 

The pay-per-view was very drawn out and I was about to give it a very bad review until the last two matches. The last two matches put this pay per view in a great place. I am excited for AJ Styles as WWE Champion. Smackdown just a good boost but now they need to add some depth. I will give the show a 7.5 out of 10. The ending of Backlash was simply phenomenal!
