NFL Regular Season Over, Playoffs Begin

Pathetic! Ridiculious! Imperfect! Embarassing! These are just many of the words I have heard that people have said about the Detroit Lions. 0-16, is pathetic, and is most definitely embarrassing. They fired Coach Rod Marinelli but is that really going to help? Probably not. Also Coach Romeo Crennel was also shown the door by the Cleveland Browns. However to me the biggest shocker is that Eric Mangini was fired by the New York Jets for an unknown reason but I think it had something to do with Brett Favre complaining about him to the media. Favre really should have never came out of retirement. But he did and he did enough to make Green Bay look bad for the way they treated him. My Carolina Panthers won a close game against the Saints to get the bye and second seed for the playoffs. The playoffs are shaping up to be very interesting.

All of these games are intriguing matchups, and to me it would be fun to see one of these teams go to the Super Bowl. It's going to be hard getting past the teams that are ranked number 1 and 2. I cannot wait to watch me some football this weekend. Until then God Bless and Happy New Years.

Thoughts on UFC 92

Last night at UFC 92, it was a night of upsets and brutal knockouts. First I'd like to sat the Cheick Kongo is one bad dude and a beast. He is a credible heavyweight that could so some serious damage and contend for the heavyweight title. I see him getting a title shot in 2009.

I was really impressed with CB Dalloway of Mike Massenzio. CB definitely has a future in MMA and I see him doing some big things in the couple of years.

Now on the fun part of UFC 92. "Rampage" Jackson and Wanderlei Silva had their third encounter. And let me tell you something, these two legitmately hate each other. They actually had a scuffle at the weigh-in because of the bad blood and the trash talking between the two of them. If you know anything about their first two fights, you would know that "The Axe Murderer" destroyed "Rampage" in Pride-FC, but that was in Pride-FC. This is UFC and it's just a little bit different in terms of surroundings. Even though I did pick Silva I did state awhile back that that Quinton needed to redeem himself after his lost to Forrest Griffin for the UFC Light Heavyweight Title and the minor legal troubles he had. Virtually no one gave Quinton a chance but it was great to see him win against a credible and great fighter like Silva. Also did you notice the look of disgust on Chuck Liddell's face when Rampage one. He didn't looked impressed.

Then as a famous unknown person once said, "I hate to say I told you so, but I told you so." You talk about not giving no once a chance. Everyone thought that Antonio Nogueira would destroy Frank Mir, and be the savior to take down the hated UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar. What most people need to understand is Frank Mir never lost the title. He was in a motorcycle accident that no one ever thought he'd come back from. So in my personal opinion Frank Mir is a walking miracle. I also think Mir is out to prove that his win against Lesnar, in Lesnars first fight wasn't a fluke. I have some bad news for Mir, because he's not fighting the same Brock Lesnar as before. Lesnar now has more training under his belt and he will make sure he doesn't lose to Mir twice. All I can say is I was laughing the whole way home knowning Nogueira got beat and disappointed everyone. Nogueira is a great fighter but Mir wanted it more. Now I cannot wait until Frank Mir and Brock Lesnar fight for the Undisputed UFC Heavyweight Title.

In the main event, UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Forrest Griffin defended his title against the undefeated Rashad Evans. I had mixed feelings about this fight because Forrest Griffin is one of my favorite fighters, if not my fighter. However Rashad Evans started his MMA training with UFC Hall of Famer Dan Severn, a guy I have met, admire, and respect. So was I disappointed when Forrest lost? No because it was a great fight and Forrest did his best trying to get out of Rashads strikes. Rashad will make a great champion and I know we haven't seen the last of Forrest Griffin.

UFC 92 was great because they did more to make the PPV go a little bit longer. I still would never buy a UFC PPV because you never know what you're going to get. I really enjoyed watching UFC 92 and look foward to the next big event.

Readers Note: The reason their are two UFC Heavyweight Titles was due to Randy Coutures legal problems with Dana White and UFC. So they Nogueira and Sylvia fight to determine the new interim Heavyweight champion. However Couture came back and lost the title to Lesnar.

Looking back on Sports and Pro Wrestling in 2008

With 2008 coming to a close I’d like to look back on some of the moments in sports and wrestling that really captured my attention and had a lot of significance. Let’s begin with the Super Bowl and the upset of the century. The Patriots went 16-0 in the regular season and made it to the Super Bowl against the underdog New York Giants who no one really gave a chance to win. The Giants, led by Eli Manning won the Super Bowl and rightfully became the best team in football.

A few months later at Wrestlemania 24, the greatest pro wrestler in the history of wrestling retired following his last match with Shawn Michaels. Ric Flair was in pro wrestling for thirty plus years and was the very best. He is a 16 time World Champion and had more class then anyone I ever saw in the Wrestling business. He is definitely a Legend and an Icon. He will always be remembered as the greatest that ever lived.

At the NBA All-Star game this year, we saw Dwight Howard become superman in the Slam-Dunk Contest and put on a performance of a lifetime. I think he might be the biggest guy to ever win the Dunk Contest. It was a great year for him. It was also a great year for Celtics and Lakers fans that got to witness the rebirth of the greatest rivalry in basketball history. The Celtics won the NBA Finals beating the Lakers 4-2, but the sparks re-ignited the fire in both teams.

The thing that really captured my attention was the Summer Olympics. Michael Phelps won eight Gold Medals and became the worlds, or at least America’s greatest athlete. He put swimming on the map for younger kids to get into and made swimming a very respectable sport. Also in the Olympics, the USA Men’s Basketball team brought dominance back into the Olympics and redeemed themselves and the NBA. I’ve always said that Coach K, of Duke should be an NBA coach. He managed all those egos and turned them into a TEAM. He turned them into A TEAM of Superstars instead of one superstar getting the glory. I was proud to watch them bring home the gold for the USA.

Now my personal favorite thing in sports was Brock Lesnar coming to the UFC. There was so much hype, anticipation and hatred because he was a former WWE Wrestler and champion there. What most people don’t know is he was an amateur wrestler for 18 years compared to the four years he was pro. He came in and lost Frank Mir on a fluke. He came back a few months later and dominated Heath Herring. Then in November he defeated Randy Couture to become UFC Heavyweight Champion. The fans of the UFC have never become more vocal or outraged. Brock is hated but it makes for good TV. I am glad he is in the UFC, and I am glad he’s bringing something that no one else brings.

In 2008, there were also some miraculous things that happened in sports. The first thing that comes to mind is Tiger Woods winning the US Open on one bad knee and going head to head in an 18 hole playoff with Rocco Mediate. I never got excited about Golf until that very moment. They had a classic battle that will stand the test of time. I really hope Tiger comes back he will bring us more moments like that and have more classic battles with Rocco and others.

The City of Philadelphia got a miracle this fall when the Phillies won the World Series by beat the Tampa Bay Rays. Yes I said it the Tampa Bay Rays had a miracle year two. They had 10 losing seasons from the time they became a franchise. This year they had their first winning season, made their first playoff and made it all the way to the World Series. It was great to see two small market teams make knock off all the big market teams like Los Angeles, New York and Boston.

Some not so great stuff happened in 2008, like Raiders owner Al Davis’s personal attack on Lane Kiffin after he fired him. Also Roger Clemens was also proven to be a cheat and liar and ruined his chances of becoming a Hall of Famer. Also the Detroit Lions put themselves in position to be in 0-16 in one season. We’ll find out this Sunday if it happens. Also, something that I hated was when Floyd Mayweather fought the Big Show at Wrestlemania 24 and it was the biggest joke pro wrestling fans had ever seen. Also Plaxico Burress shot himself in the leg at a night club and may have jeopardized his career with Giants.

Some things that personally made me happy, was the Red Wings winning the Stanley Cup and once reclaiming their dominance in the NHL. I don’t follow hockey much but when the Red Wings play I watch. I was extremely happy to see Forrest Griffin become UFC Light Heavyweight Championship from Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. Forrest became a favorite of mine during the first season of the Ultimate Fighter and his fight with Stephan Bonner a few years back is still my favorite UFC fight ever. I also thought it was great to see the Hardy Boys, when World Championships individually. Matt Hardy, who I met in May, became ECW Champion, and Jeff Hardy became WWE Champion cementing themselves as the greatest brother tag team in pro wrestling history. I was also happy to see OJ Simpson being found guilty of something he did. He doesn’t mean much to sports anymore but he rightfully got what he deserved. I was also happy to see Samoa Joe become TNA Heavyweight Champion. He’s one of the best wrestlers out there and deserves all the success he gets. I was really happy to see young guys like Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, Kofi Kingston, and Ted Dibiase Jr. get pushed harder and win titles. I love watching second and third generation wrestlers to see if they are good as their dads or granddads. Finally, it was good to see WWE go back to Iraq for the 6th year in a row for Tribute to the Troops.

Some things that shocked me are when Allen Iverson was traded to the Pistons for Chauncey Billups who ended up in Denver. I think that shocked everyone in Detroit. It certainly shocked me. The other thing that shocked me this year is the run by Tennessee Titans without their star Quarterback Vince Young. Kerry Collins took the reigns and has led the Titans to a great run and possibly a Super Bowl. That’s a shocking but great story that will be remembered if the Titans win the Super Bowl. Also Mick Foley left WWE to become apart of TNA Wrestling. It was a huge swing in the balance of power. TNA keeps building themselves as credible pro wrestling organization that eventually can be on the same level as WWE. Another shocker is Alex Rodriguez’s affair with Madonna which led to some big divorces and lots of money for their spouses. One word describes all these moments…WOW!!!

This year in sports has been a good one. Jimmy Johnson made history by winning three consecutive NASCAR Championships, being only the second driver to do so. The Yankees have built themselves an All-Star team with Sabathia, Burnett, and Teixeira. I look forward to this coming year. We sports fans have a lot to be excited about in 2009. This year has provided us with some great memories and I am sure 2009 will provided us with some more great memories as well.

NFL Week 16 Recap, and playoff scenarios

Well this past weekend of NFL games was certainly dramatic. The Jets lost to the Seattle Seahawks in dramatic fashion. The Eagles lost to the Redskins in a last second play, and the Chargers put themselves in Playoff contention. The Bears held on to keep their playoff hopes alive. Now to the game that met the most to me personally and thats the Giants-Panthers game on Sunday Night. Carolina looked great the first half and Deangelo Williams looked great. It was the second half where they let the game get away. With about a minute left they had a huge run but it was negated by Steve Smith's holding call. To me, thats what cost them the game because and what gave the Giant momentum. I'll give the Giants credit, they came back after two tough weeks and a lot off field drama. However, they will not be going back to Super Bowl. I believe It will be Tennesee against one of the NFC South Teams. The Panthers, Falcons or if they make it, the Buccanneers. The NFC South is the toughest division in football, not the East. This last week should be great and here are the scenarios going in:

So there you have it, a lot to look foward to this week. I really hope the Panthers can win and keep their bye week. Two devestating losses in a row could really hurt them going into the playoffs. Week 17 should be great to watch. A lot of drama and exciting action this week. By the way LIONS 0-16 and history will be made. This will be the only time I ever cheer for the Packers. Is the NBA Season Already Over?

Now the season is only 30 games in, but one has to wonder, will it be the Celtics vs. Lakers in the NBA Finals again? The answer is most positively yes. There is really no one that can contend with these two teams. Cleveland has Lebron but doesn't have anything else. The Magic have a young and up and coming team but really don't have any veterans. Then you have the Pistons. They are not even considered a contender now since the trade for Iverson.

On the West side of things, Denvers looks great and that's about it, I see the Lakers easing into the Finals this year. I honestly think it will be a rematch of last year, that goes seven games. They are the two most storied franchises in the league. Laker-Celtics makes money for the NBA because those are the two old powerhouses who have had the longest running feud in the league. Both of these teams get more media coverage, the most hype and right now the most dominant. A lot of people hope their teams win their championships every year but I think its going to be Laker-Celtics dominating for a long time to come. I actually hope another team comes around and knocks them off, but I doubt it will be this year. Well until next time, Merry Christmas and God Bless.

Pacquiao vs. Mayweather: Why it needs to happen

Recently I've been hearing that Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. might be fighting. They are trying to pull Mayweather out of his supposed retirement to get him to fight Manny. I honestly would love to see this fight happen because someone needs to shut up Floyd Mayweather up. He is the cockiest person in the sports world I think I have ever seen or heard. Both have beaten Hatton and De La Hoya and both are fast as hell. The only difference is when Pacquiao fought Oscar, he made it look more convincing then Mayweather did. Also the judges have won some of Mayweathers fights for him.

It's pretty bad that most of the people from your hometown and surrounding areas don't like you. I am a Grand Rapids native and I can't stand Mayweather. A lot of my hatred of him comes from being a wrestling fan. When he fought at Wrestlemania 24 against a guy who could literally kill him if he wanted to, was just absolutely ridiculious. Most people don't know this, but the Big Show actaully had trained for boxing the year he was off from wrestling leading up to the Mayweather fight. Mayweather went in there and made a joke out of pro wrestling. I've always said that Wrestlemania 24 had nine matches, and eight of them were good. You can guess which one I think sucked? A lot of other wrestling fans share my opionions as well.

I think at this point, Pacquiao might be the only guy that can beat Mayweather. I'll give Mayweather his due, because he has beaten every challanger put infront of him. However he is no longer pound for pound the greatest fighter in the world. That title belongs to Pacquiao or someone in the UFC who is much more deserving. Come out, come out where ever you are Floyd because Manny is waiting for you. Only time will tell if Floyd has the guts to take on someone his equal. Until then we will just have to hear about it.

In a New York State of Mind

First off, I would like to apologize to the fans of the Phillies and Rays because neither of your teams are going to the World Series in 2009. It is invietable at this point that even before spring training that they Yankees and the Mets will clash in a Subway Series next year. Why? Because the finally bought themselves a championship. A lot of players when they get the big contracts don't play as hard so they make themselves look bad and the team look bad. However, CC Sabathia, and AJ Burnett want to win a World Series, it was evident by the press conference the other day. They both want to be in New York and the both want to win a Championship. CC proved to be a great pitcher when their is some extra motivation involved. AJ Burnett will prove to be as well. I think the Yankees will outlast the Red Sox and certainly outlast the Rays with out a problem.

Now we have the New York Mets, a team who should have been in the playoffs the last two years and missed out due in large part to the relief pitching that failed them. Well say no more, because the Mets picked up JJ Putz, another guy that with more motivation is going to picth better then he already was in Seattle. Then you have the greatest closer possibly of this generation in K-Rod, Fransisco Rodriguiz. He holds the all time single-season saves record with 62 which he set this year. He wants another ring, and what better way to get in, then in New York. I don't think the Phillies will be able to get past them in the Division, and neither will any other team in the National League.

Both teams have spent millions on pitching which is the key to winning a World Series and being successful. Both teams also have new stadiums and what better way to cap of a first year in those stadiums then to win a World Series. It makes sense. It all makes sense. I really think that their is no chance for any other teams in baseball. The two evil empires are back and I think they are here to stay for awhile. So which team is going to the rise to the challange? The question is which team is willing to take risks to win. Only time will tell.

NFL Week 15 Recap, WWE Armageddon and More

Well NFL Week 15 is now in the books and I must say that Carolina being in the Super Bowl looks more realistic then it ever did. The beat Denver in a one-sided game this week and they play the most dysfunctional team in football right now this Sunday Night. The New York Giants. Whoever wins this game has homefield advantage throughout the playoffs. Good stuff. Some bad officiating in the Ravens-Steelers game and the Lions-Colts game. Yes, the Lions lost again, but thats old news. I heard if they lose this weekend they are going to air the last game of the season on Sunday Night or Monday Night...How humiliating is that. The Titans lost barely on a bad call be Jeff Fisher and the Jets, Pats, and Dolphins are all tied in the division right now. Should be a good last two weeks.



The unthinkable happened this past Sunday night when Jeff Hardy defeated Triple H and Edge to win his first WWE Championship. It's a great story of a recovering drug addict who cleaned his life up and got a second chance. It's well deserved. The whole Pay-Per-View was great from top to bottom. Mysterio-Punk had a terrific match that saw Punk winning. Vladimir Kozloff had his best match yet with Matt Hardy and even Batista and Orton tore down the house. Other then the big four this was the best Pay-Per-View of the year. Actually other then Wrestlemania it was the best PPV of the year.

I'd finally like to close by saying that I think that the next World Series is going to be a Subway Series between the Yankees and Mets. More on that later this week. God Bless and be safe.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!

My worst fear about the Detroit Tigers has come true...

As I've been saying since the end of the season the Detroit Tigers needed pitching, mainly relief pitching. The starters just all had bad years last year. Now their are plenty of free agent pitchers on the market this offseason, both starting and relief. My greatest fear came to life yesterday when they traded for a pitcher and got rid of some good, young and upcoming player.

Yesterday the traded away Outfielder Matt Joyce to Tampa Bay, for Starting Pitcher Edwin Jackson. Edwin Jackson stats from last year are:

14 Wins, 11 Loses
4.42 ERA
108 Strikeouts and 77 Walks. Thats a horrible K/BB ratio.

Quick question why didn't they for Andy Pettite, Kerry Wood, or Fransisco Rodriguiz(who set a record for most saves in season last year.) Matt Joyce was the future of Detroit in my opinion. If we were going to trade someone, it should have been Marcus Thames or Gary Sheffield, because Matt Joyce along with Jeff Larish earned their spots last year and proved to be Major League players.

Dave Dombrowski made another huge mistake, a mistake thats going to screw us. Just like the Jair Jurrijens trade a year ago, this is going to have a major backlash, because Jurrijens is already becoming a star in Atlanta and I am sure Joyce will become a star in Tampa Bay.

So what have the Tigers done so far in the offseaon? Traded away prospect pitchers(thats typical) for a catcher who no one knows. Signed a shortstop who no one really knows and now signed a pitcher that has decent numbers, but they aren't worth bragging about. I really feel for the people of Detroit and season ticket holders because they are going to be in for a long season. I am making a promise to myself that if they don't get a major big name pitcher who had credible numbers I will not watch the Tigers in the 2009 season. I will not let myself get disappointed again.

NFL Week 14 Recap, Slammys, Tigers, and more.

Well NFL week 14 is done and I am so happy that my boys from Carolina won. That was an awesome game Monday Night. I knew it would be. Tampa is a good team but Carolinas running game killed them and the passing game got a lot better. The Lions lost by one...Does that surprise anyone at all. Not me. 0-16 baby, it's going to happen. I love it. The Titans won, the Jets lost and Miami could be in the playoffs. A lot is going to happen the last few weeks here. Should be interesting and fun to watch. I love it. I hope Carolina goes to the Super Bowl. I think they proved that they are good enough to do so. My dream Super Bowl is Titans-Panthers, because it would be cool to see Kerry Collins play against his old team. I love Collins, he is a great Quarterback and a part of me still wishes he was still in Carolina. Oh well, we got Jake who is turning into a QB.

The Slammys were Monday Night and the hype was better then the show. I got three hours of wrestling but the actual awards part sucked. Some good matches though. Punk-Morrison, the handicap match and Hardy-Jericho were all great matches. Armageddon is Sunday and it should be a decent PPV. Look foward to watching it.

The Tigers are pissing me off majorly in the Winter Meetings right now. The got a catcher, and a damn shortstop that they didn't need. They need pitching damn it. What the hell is wrong with Dave Dombrowski? Learn your lession from last year. PITCHING, PITCHING, PITCHING, PITCHING AND PITCHING I dont know how many times I have to say it. My neighbor, my co-workers, and other friends agree with me. I am going on record and saying that if they don't acquire any pitching I will not watch them this year. No joke!!!

How about OJ finally getting his. I think that judge had a lot of people putting pressure on her because she denied every motion that they tried getting out of her. This should have happened 13 years ago. Johnny Cochran couldn't come back to life and save him this time. He's Guilty on all Charges Thank God, justice was served.

NFL Week 13 Recap, WWE Survivor Series, WWE Armageddon, and Moe

Well sorry I didn't post last week, like I usually do on Tuesdays but I was angry about the Panthers and Titans losing, I wasn't in the mood to post. That and it was Thanksgiving so I needed a break. Let me start off by saying, boy did the Lions sure get their clocks cleaned by the Titans on Turkey day, geez. It was ridiculious. The Panthers won this week in a very close, competitive game against the Green Bay Packers, in Green Bay nonetheless. I haven't liked the Panthers since the whole Brett Favre thing went down. I thought it was a slap in the face to a legend. This coming Monday is going to be difficult. Watch Monday Night Raw or watch Monday Night Football when Carolina hosts Tampa Bay. Believe it or not thats a tough one for me. I'll be doing a lot of flipping back and forth.

Last Sunday was WWE Survivor Series, and it wasn't the greatest of PPV's but it some highlights like for example. Edge screwing 3 people out of the WWE title to only win it for himself and associate himself with Vickie Guerrero again. Also Shawn Michaels, the Great Khali, and Rey Mysterio were Survivors on their team. The victory celebration was funny. And last but certainly not least is the return of John Cena, who defeated Chris Jericho to become World Heavyweight Champion. It was actually one of Cena's better matches in recent memory. Glad to have you back John, so I can start complaining about you and your lack of skill...just kidding. He has actually gotten better.

The next WWE, Pay-Per-View is Armageddon and three huge matches have been signed. One being, the rematch between Cena and Jericho. Next is Batista vs. Orton and, the one I am looking foward to the most. Edge vs. Hardy vs. Triple H for the WWE Title. Those three matches alone are impressive. Can't wait to find out what other matches are coming.

Next week is the Slammys on Monday Night Raw where all 3 brands will in the house. Stephanie McMahon announced on RAW the Slammy nominees for the Superstar of the Year.They are: Edge, Batista, Jeff Hardy, Chris Jericho, Triple H and John Cena. There is also 5 huge matches signed:

Chris Jericho vs. Jeff Hardy
John Cena vs. Edge - Champion vs. Champion
Batista vs. Triple H
John Morrison vs. CM Punk- IC Title Tournament Semi-Final
Rey Mysterio vs. Kofi Kingston-IC Title Tournament Semi-Final

I personally cannot wait for Rey Mysterio and Kofi Kingston. That match is going to off the charts. Monday Night next week is shaping up to be a good one.

The major talk of the sports world this last week is Plaxico Burress, the Wide Reciever from the New York Giants. I am not one to judge people but why in the hell would you bring a gun into New York City and how could you possibly be dumb enough to shoot yourself in the leg. Burress is a talent individual but his attitude and stupidity may have cost him his career, or atleast in New York anyways. Didn't he learn anything from the Sean Taylor incident last year. These atheletes need to wake up and smell the coffee. It isn't a right to play sports, it's a privilage and they take it for granted. They make these millions of dollars and do stupid crap like that. I for one don't feel sorry for any of them. I hope atheletes will be smarter in the future.

WWE vs UFC, The Pro's and Con's

Ever since Brock Lesnar won the UFC Heavyweight Champion, MMA fans have been an uproar and have been vocal about their hatred for pro wrestling and people involved in pro wrestling. This has led to the pro wrestling fan to be defensive and defending their heroes. I am a fan of both pro wrestling and MMA and I would like to take a look at the pros and con's of both.

Lets start with the pros of MMA, more specifically the UFC. The UFC has come incredible fighters. One pro about UFC is you're not on the road 300 days and you only fight 3-4 times a year and makes a fan of a certain fighter anxious to watch their next fight. Another thing about the UFC, is it is not scripted as far as we know and it's unpredictable. It always has the big fight atmosphere. The one thing that really put UFC on the map again is the the Ultimate Fighter. To me the first season of the Ultimate Fighter was better then the first season of WWE's Tough Enough. I mean the Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar fight really captured my attention, and I loved Forrest Griffin since that show. Their are a lot of great fighters that came out of the first season of TUF. More people from the first season of TUF became successful then any of the Tough Enough seasons. The only people I really think that have had any success from being on Tough Enough are Matt Morgan, Melina, The Miz, John Morrison, and if he wouldn't have had a battle with cancer Matt Cappotelli would be in WWE right now rocking the joint. So simply put the UFC has the better show for competition. The UFC has a lot of momentum for them right now and are headed in the right direction.

Now on to the con's of UFC. The problem with UFC is that they don't really have weekly TV shows. They have replays of PPV fights, not something that interest me unless I missed the PPV. Also they have replays of each Ultimate Fighter Finale every Friday. If you have already seen it, why would you watch it again, unless it was a good fight. I'll watch the first fight between Griffin and Bonnar any day because it was a classic. The other problem is that UFC pay-per-views are 60 something dollars and you're not necessarily guaranteed 2-3 hours of action where as WWE guarantees 2 hours every Raw, and Smackdown, 1 hour of ECW and Three hours of every PPV. I would never ever pay for a UFC PPV unless the card was stacked. I don't even buy wrestling PPV's anymore with the exception of Wrestlemania. The one thing that Dana White said an interview once that really bothered me is that UFC's stories are better because they are more real. How can you call pitting to fighters against one another a story/feud. The only real feuds I've ever seen out of UFC are Ken Shamrock/Dan Severn, Chuck Liddell/Randy Couture, and Ken Shamrock/Tito Ortiz. Other then that they do their trash talking before the bout and move on once the bout is over. Those are really, the only con's to the UFC.

Now on to the pros of professional wrestling, more specifically the WWE, and little bit of TNA mixed in as well. The WWE has characters anyone can relate to. The Jamaicans relate to Kofi Kingston, the goths relate to the Undertaker and the rebels can relate to Stone Cold Steve Austin. There is something for everyone to enjoy. The WWE also travels internationally which has given more worldwide exposure then any sports or entertainment brand. Also Wrestlemania has more PPV buys then almost any MMA or boxing PPV every year. The WWE has had some great feuds over the years, like Flair-Sting, Flair- Austin-McMahon, Austin-Rock, DX-McMahon's, Jericho-Michaels, and even Edge-Undertaker. Even TNA has had a great feud, and that's Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe. That has been one of the most surreal feuds in quite sometime in pro wrestling. They have had some of the best matches in recent memory in pro wrestling. WWE also does a lot of charity work and is has a lot of wrestlers who are considered heroes to those who watch them. WWE, TNA, and pro wrestling to me will never die.

The con's to pro wrestling are the fact that it has become so predictable and the Internet reveals everything before its going to happen. I always watch wrestling on TV because it's something I enjoy but the problem is I can tell you whats probably going to happen within the first 10 minutes on every show, and about 5 minutes into every match. Unless you're watching independents, you pretty much know how a match or show is going to go unless you're a crazy obsessed mark who takes everything that they literally or think it's not staged. And that's the word I use, is staged because it is not fake. I hate the word fake, because they do get hurt. Guys like Triple H, Kurt Angle and even Hulk Hogan have comeback from injuries that should have ended their careers. And if you still think wrestling is fake go to YouTube and search for Mankind vs. the Undertaker, Hell In a Cell, and watch the first five to ten minutes of the match and tell me that its fake then. Granted when someone gets hurt in UFC its always real where is in WWE it's not but people wrestle through their injuries all the time and sometimes don't have the time to recover whereas UFC fighters get 3-4 months to recover. Being a WWE superstar to me has the toughest schedule out of any sport or brand of entertainment. They are on the road 300 days out of the year. The one last con about pro wrestling is that the secrets have been exposed and it's not as kayfabe as it once was. I remember their was a time, when good guys and bad guys has their own locker rooms, and opponents never rode together or never stayed at the same hotel and the wrestlers always stayed in character. It's not like that anymore and sometimes I think it harms the business.

To me WWE and UFC are two completely different companies, and two different professions. I believe you can be a fan of both and not show favoritism to one or the other. They actually have a few things in common. Both have bosses that can be complete jerks, in the form of Dana White and Vince McMahon. Both have put their greatest competition out of business as in WWE taking out WCW, and UFC taking out Pride FC which to me has hurt both businesses tremendously. To me when their is no competition things get boring and dry and lose interest. To me WWE was it's best when WCW was taking them on head-to-head. And UFC put on better PPV's when Pride FC was in business.

The one thing I find funny about Dana White, is you never hear him knock TNA Wrestling. Why? Because TNA and UFC share the same network, Spike TV. They have actually co-promoted a few times in the past. So it proves two things to me, and that is Dana White is a smart business man. And he also doesn't hate pro wrestling as much as leads us to believe. If he did, he wouldn't have signed Brock Lesnar.

The one thing that pro wrestling has that MMA doesn't, and people might hate me for saying this. The one thing that they have, or had is Hulk Hogan. When people think pro wrestling they think of Hulk Hogan. Even non-pro wrestling fans know who Hulk Hogan is. Do any non-MMA fans know any MMA fighters? Probably not unless they are from your hometown. Hulk Hogan is known worldwide and to me is the biggest attraction in sport-entertainment history. You name one MMA fighter who is what Hulk Hogan was to wrestling? Chances are you can't. Does this mean I like MMA any less? No. I actually love it equally as much as pro wrestling but pro wrestling was in my blood first.

I know their will always be a lifelong debate on which is better, but to me both are great and I enjoy watching both pro wrestling and MMA. They both capture my attention and people who are in either profession deserve respect for the hard work they put in. In closing, I would like to say I look forward to some great things in 2009 from WWE, TNA and UFC. It's going to be a great year to watch.

NFL Week 11 Recap, Detroit teams, Survivor Series, More on Lesnar-Couture

Well week 11 of the NFL season is now over. And it was a nail-biter between my Carolina Panthers and the now 0-10 Detroit Lions. I must say that the Lions did play a decent game even though both running backs from Carolina kicked the crap out of them. However, I have not been impressed with Jake the last two week. What is he waiting for? He did well the first 7 games but now he's out there acting like he's a rookie. I hope he gets it together before Atlanta this Sunday. The Titans remain undefeated at 10-0 and I am really happy for Kerry Collins on having success again. He was a great Quarterback in Carolina and he's proven to be a great QB in Tennessee. Also the Jets defeated the Patroits in a close one as well the Browns beating the Bills in a close game as well. It should be an interesting week 12.

You know overall in Michigan you pretty much have the Detroit teams to root for. Pistons, Tigers, Lions and Red Wings. Overall it's a pretty good sports town. However my biggest problem with Detroit is two thing, Tigers pitching and the Lions in general. Bill Ford honestly needs to sell the team to Illitch and Davidson. Illitch owns the Red Wings and Tiger. Davidson owns the Pistons, Shock and Tampa Bay Lightning. I think those two good make better decisions then Ford is at this point. As far as the Tigers go, if they don't get pitching this off season, they can plan on a last place finish like this season. It was pathetic to have such a high payroll team and finish in last place. I really hope this upcoming season is great

Survivor Series is the Sunday and it's looking to be a great card. Go to WWE.com for more info. The one thing I am going to predict is that the World Heavyweight Championship is going to John Cena and the WWE Championship is going to....Vladimir Kozloff. I think he's going beat Triple H and Jeff Hardy (sorry to spoil Smackdown for you). I can't wait for the 5 on 5 traditional Survivor Series matches. They are going to be great. I can't wait.

I hate to even talk about this again but I am so sick of all the people criticizing Brock Lesnar just because the UFC fans' hero, Randy Couture. So what if he was a former WWE Champion and made it big there. That's not even relevent anymore. He is in the UFC, he is the UFC Champion. The UFC fans are doing themselves any favors. The more they criticize Lesnar, the more motivated he is going to be to kick the crap out of another UFC Fan Favorite. Couture is a great competitor, but he had no buisness in the Heavyweight Division. It's Lesnars time and if people don't like it, then maybe they should get in there and try to right him.

History Made at UFC 91

Last night at UFC 91 in Las Vegas, history was made when Brock Lesnar defeated the Randy Couture for the UFC Heavyweight title. This makes Lesnar the first man to hold the WWE Title and UFC Heavyweight Title. However I have to give two guys credit before I really start praising Lesnar. I really think that Dan Severn and Ken Shamrock proved about 10 years ago that you can be successful at both pro wrestling and MMA even though they are two different the Beasts. Although Lesnar is the first to hold both WWE Heavyweight and UFC Heavyweight Titles he is not the first man to hold an MMA title and a pro wrestling title. Ken Shamrock held won a UFC title, and also has won the WWE Intercontinental Championship, the WWE Tag Titles, and the NWA Heavyweight Title. Then you have Dan Severn, a man I have met and have great respect for. He has won a UFC Title, and won the NWA Heavyweight Title in wrestling. Unfortunately the NWA is not as big is use to be so both wins really went unnoticed by people. However I believe Lesnar is the first to make the transition from pro wrestling to MMA while Shamrock and Severn went from MMA to pro wrestling.

Now back to Lesnar, I love he didn't let the crowd get to him in this fight. Couture was definitely the fan favorite. I do have a lot of respect for Randy Couture and loved his fights with Chuck Liddell but it was Lesanrs night. The wonderful thing about Lesnar winning is now hopefully all the anti-pro wrestling fans that love UFC will now have to eat their words. I was in about 10 different chatrooms last night while this fight was going on. I heard a lot of things that just ticked me off. Let me give you some statements:

"The only reason most people are watching this fight is because the stupid wrestling fans are watching Brock Lesnar and they don't know anyone else."

"Wrestling doesn't take any bit of talent, and all pro wrestlers are not talented."

First off, I was watching UFC long before Brock Lesnar was there. I have old tapes from when Severn won his first UFC tournament, and the matches he had with Ken Shamrock. I also watched UFC Ultimate Fighter 1 everytime it was on. The thing that got me hooked was the Stephan Bonner and Forrest Griffin fight that really to me was the greatest fight ever in my opinion other then watching Severn maul through everyone at Return of the Beast. I've seen a few other good fights in my time like Griffin and Rampage Jackson and like I mentioned before Liddell and Coutures fights.

Now to say that pro wrestlers aren't talented really bothers me. Sure, it's not a legit sport and I am sure no one will consider it to be, but you just can't be any average person and climb in to a wrestling ring in think you're going to do whatever. Pro wrestling has a lot of physicality to it and people get injured all the time. Some of these guys have come back from major injuries like Kurt Angle, Triple H, John Cena and even Shawn Michaels. There are injuries in pro wrestling like any other sports and you have to keep your self in shape just like in every sport. I am passionate about pro wrestling, but I would never knock the UFC because it's just as awesome as pro wrestling to me. I just think it's ridiculious that MMA fans knock pro wrestling because they think it's all "fake." Well to those ignorant fans, a pro wrestler just came in took out two credible and respected fighters, and one of them is considered a legend. I am not rubbing it in, I am saying it's fact. Brock Lesnar has trained very hard to get to where he is and I know he is going to be a great champion.

In closing, I would like to congratulate Brock Lesnar on his win last night, and that I cannot wait until the fight to see who his next in-line to fight between Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Frank Mir at UFC 92. It should also be noted that Forrest Griffin will defend his UFC Light-Heavyweight Title against Rashad Evans, and Wanderlei Silva takes on Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. It's all on the same card on December 27th on PPV. It's going to be great. Again congrats to Brock Lesnar on becoming the new UFC Heavyweight Champion

NFL Week 10 Recap, Survivor Series, and more

So let me first start off saying that even with a great Quarterback Detroit can't even win. I mean I know they suck but stop giving games away. Like Mike Singletary said to his 49er's "We are not a charity!" Now as far as the Panther go, I am glad they got the win but Delehomme's four interceptions was ridiculious. How they managed to beat Oakland is beyond me. Then again it's Oakland, the most dysfunctional team in all the NFL. This week The Panthers take on the Lions. I am happy. Carolina is my favorite team while Detroit is my favorite team to pick on. Hopefully I'll have more to laugh about next week. How about those Tennesee Titans. Kerry Collins looked great this week and I wouldn't be surprised if they go 16-0 at this point. Lets see what Week 11 brings us.

Survivor Series next Sunday and only two matches have been announced. The first is World Champion Chris Jericho defending against the returning John Cena. Cena hasn't held the title in over a year which has been great for TV, because no one wants to see him as champ. Unfortunately the powers to be will put the title back on in his hometown at Survivor Series. The other match is Team Michaels vs. Team JBL in a traditional 5-on-5 Survivor Series match. Hopefully their are more great matches to come.

TNA's Turning Point was Sunday and I laughed my butt off when Scott Hall was shown drunk in the crowd with ICP. The Idiotic Crappy Posse. I can't stand those guys. How they ever got national exposure in wrestling is completly sickening.

Don't forget UFC 91 is this Saturday. Randy Couture defends his UFC Heavyweight Title against Brock Lesnar. I am obviously going to cheer on Lesnar. He's a former WWE Champion. And for those of you who said he couldn't handle the "real" fight atmosphere guess again, because this Saturday he will make history. He will be the first man to win the WWE Heavyweight Title and the UFC Heavyweight Title. However he won't be the first to hold a MMA title and wrestling title. Ken Shamrock and Dan Severn have already accomplished that.

NFL Week 9 Recap, Raw, Pistons Blockbuster deal and more

NFL Week 9 is over and I didn't care much this week because my Carolina Panthers had their bye week. This week they are back and playing Oakland which should be an easy victory. The Bengels finally won this week leaving the Lions as the only team who haven't won a game yet (Does that surprise any of you?) The Titans barely escaped with a win against Green Bay making them undefeated. Can anyone stop them? We'll find out soon.

Last night was the 800 episode celebration of Monday Night Raw...and damn what a great show it was. Chris Jericho regains the World Title after losing it a week earlier. This now sets up a match between him and Cena at Survivor Series. Also DX had a great match with Miz/Morrison and Randy Orton made his in ring return. Overall a good night of wrestling. I was actually pleasently surprised on how good it was.

The biggest news of the day yesterday was that the Pistons traded, Chauncey Billups, Antonio McDyess and Chieckh Samb to the Nuggests for Allen Iverson. Yes thats right. A.I. is now a bad-boy. I'll miss Billups and Dysse but I welcome Allen Iverson. I think he will be great for the Pistons. It ought to be interesting to see how he and Rasheed mesh. They both have a certain attitude about them. I can't wait for tomorrow night against the Raptors. Go Detroit.

Raw vs. Smackdown 2009 comes out in 5 days. I am really looking forward to the 60-man roster this year. I am not mad that their isn't any legends because now it makes it more real. I definitely think that this might be the best wrestling game yet (I say this every year)

NFL Week 8 Recap, World Series, Cyber Sunday and more

Well week 8 of the NFL season had some high scoring, and close games. Carolina got away with a win just barely. The Lions lost, and the Titans are still undefeated. Not much has changed and the season is halfway over. I didn't realize it until this week that the Bengels still haven't won a game this year. Thats just pathetic again so are the Lions so I can't talk much. I am 2-6 on my CBS Football Fantasy Team, and I am doing well in the football pool I am in. This week is going to be the worst week of the year....Carolinas by week. So I could careless about football this week. Oh well I guess I still watch.

The Phillies won the World Series last night in a great game. Cole Hamels won the MVP for the Series. I would have never thought that these two teams would have been there and Philly would have won. I am going out on a limb and saying right here, right now that I guarentee you that neither team will be in the playoffs next year. It will be.....the Boston Red Sox against the L.A. Dodgers. My theory will come true next year. They are trying to build up Mannys return to Boston as much as they can so Major League Baseball can make tons of money. You just wait...I hope I am wrong though and I hope the Tigers will be back in the mix of things.

Cyber Sunday was this past Sunday and Batista beat Chris Jericho for the World Heavyweight Title (with a little help from Stone Cold Steve Austin). It was great to see the Honky Tonk Man as he hasn't changed a bit. Funny to see him with Piper and Goldust beating up on Santino. The match that stole the show was Matt Hardy defending the ECW title versus Evan Bourne. What a wonderful match. Just awesome. I hope they square off again. The following night on Raw he had another great match with Rey Mysterio. Also Kofi Kingston and CM Punk won the World Tag Titles from Dibiase and Rhodes. Good stuff. Survivor Series is in three weeks and I have a good feeling about the PPV.

So it Isiah Thomas a complete idiot or what? I mean why would you overdose and say it was your damn daughter. No one knows who your daughter is but now everyone does because you can't fess up to being a stupid idiot. Did working for the Knicks depress you that much. Well I guess now that I mention it, it probably did. Isiah you need help and I mean some major help.

UFC 91 is two weeks away and I can't wait for Lesnar and Couture to go at it. I am prediciting a Brock Lesnar ass whooping and the old man Randy Couture.

Finally, both the NBA AND NHL seasons have started. Not a big fan of Hockey but I will watch when the Red Wings are playing. However the Pistons are another story. I'll watch every game I can. Hell, I'll watch any basketball game period. My favorites other then Pistons this year are the Houston Rockets, and the New Orleans Hornets. I think both teams will do great this year. I am still picking Boston and the Lakers to be back in the finals again this year.

NFL Week 7 Recap, Wayland/CC, World Series, St. Louis, and more

So week 7 of the NFL has come and gone. And yes the Lions lost again. Now with John Kitna injured for the year and Roy Williams getting traded to the Cowboys, that 0-16 season is looking pretty damn believable. My boys from Carolina won again dominating the Saints 30-7. It was ridiculious that New Orleans didnt put up much of a fight. The Panthers managed to take out Reggie Bush in the process. There was only two major upsets this week and that was St. Louis over Dallas and Oakland over New York Jets. So other then that not much else happening.

So the dream match up happened Friday and I got word that Catholic Central lost to Wayland 31-14. I was a little exicited because I went to Wayland but it didnt matter to me because I am a huge fan of both teams and how they play the game. I cannot wait until they play each other in different sports. I am proud of both teams. Good luck to both schools this year.

Well the World Series is set and it's going to be the Tampa Bay Rays and the Philidelphia Phillies. I never would have expected these two teams to be here at the end. I am shocked. I cannot wait for game one tommorrow night. Can't wait for which team will be more glorified.

I was in St. Louis this weekend for a wedding and I must say It's not the greatest sports town in the world. I really didnt meet anyone who was passionate about their sports teams. Sure you have Cardinals, Rams, and Blues but no one really talked about them. Maybe I just didnt pay enough attention. Overall it is a great city I would recommend going to see. With that said I hope to go back there again someday

Hulk Hogans CCW debuted this past weekend and it was great. The best guys were definitely Danny Bonaduce and Butterbean. It was funny as hell watch the celebrities trying to wrestle. They make it so glamorous its ridiculious.

Finally, Cyber Sunday is this Sunday and I am digusted at the fact I can only vote on two matches. It sucks ass. I am not even going to talk about the matches. Well until next time God Bless and be safe.

My Dream Match up: Wayland Wildcats vs. Catholic Central Cougars

For the first 11 years of my life all I knew in terms of High School football was Catholic Central Football. Two of my cousins played for Catholic Central and one of them was in the Marching Band so I always went to the games. My favorite place to watch Catholic Central was at Houseman Field. Catholic Central is where a lot of my family members went and it is where I was suppose to go to.

In 1996, I moved to Wayland but when it came to football my heart was still with Catholic Central. However at the time when I moved to Wayland, their Head Coach was Coach Ward, the former coach of Catholic Central. How Ironic is that? I had never met Coach Ward until after he retired. He remembered one of my cousins who had played under him. I thought that was cool. So here I am 23 years old, 12 years later and the game I've wanted to see is going to happen on October 17th. Too bad I'll be out of state and won't be able to see it, however my mind will be wondering about the game.

I've told many friends this, if they play each other again I will not sit on either side because Wayland is where I have graduated from but Catholic Central is who I grew up watching. The one cool thing is that they are in the same conference now so it goes way beyond football. I look foward to all the Wayland/Catholic Central meetings this year in all the sports. Go Wildcats and go Cougars, may the best team win

NFL Week 6 Recap, Hogans CCW, and more

Week six of the NFL Football season has come and gone. My Carolina Panthers weren't so hot this week but thats alright. You can't win them all and Tampa Bay is great team. However the Detroit Lions found away to lose again to the Minnesota Vikings. I am starting to wonder if they will even win a game this year. Because I am not a Lions fan I think it would be funny to see them lose all 16...I know I am not a very nice person but the Lions aren't very good. Brett Farve looked good again this week but I guess thats nothing new this year. I was shocked that St Louis, and Atlanta won considering who their opponents were. I loved how Arizona proved that the Cowboys are not the best team in the NFL. And lastly whats going on with the Patroits. Is Tom Brady really that great? Or do the Patroits just suck. I don't understand it at all. Week 6 was really weired in terms of upsets and who beat who, hopefully week 7 will be better.

Hulk Hogans Celebrity Championship Wrestling starts Saturday Night on CMT at 8pm. It's going to be great. I cannot wait. I am not going to say much about because I am not spoiling anything. Watch it for yourself.

It's great to see the Red Wings doing well again and the Pistons look hopeful to be in the title hunt. And on a final note, my theory about the World Series is definitely going to be wrong. It looks like right now that it will be the Rays and Phillies in the World Series....yes I said it and I still can't believe its probably going to happen. It may not be the most viewed but it will probably be the most talked about if it happens.

NFL Week 5 Recap, MLB Playoffs, WWE No Mercy, WWE Cyber Sunday and more

Well week five of the NFL season has come and gone...And yes the Lions are still pathetic. However their were some upsets this week. Miami over San Diego and Atlanta over Green Bay. In terms of my football pool that I am in some teams are hard to read. You never know what they are going to do from one week to the next. My Carolina Panthers killed the Chiefs Sunday which put them at 4-1 which I am excited about. A lot of people are overlooking Carolina which in a way makes me happy because no one is giving them a shot to go all the way. The Tennassee Titans are still undefeated and so are the New York Giants. Crazy how the world works.

Now on to the Baseball playoffs. If you know me, you'd know I always have had this theory that sports are scripted. Think about this scenario. What best benefit baseball this in the World Series? The Los Angelas Dodgers vs. The Boston Red Sox. Manny Ramieriz vs. his old team and Joe Torre once again managing against an old rival. It's the perfect storyline and the perfect money-maker for Major League Baseball...If it does happen then my theory is freaking right. If not, I'll layoff my theory for awhile. This is not the only example of my theory. If you want more then I can give you examples. I am looking foward to seeing the Dodgers and Red Sox in the World Series.

This past Sunday was WWE No Mercy. I would give it a 6 out of 10. It was solid but not spectactular by any means but the WWE Title Match between Jeff Hardy and Triple H was freaking great. Hardy looked like he was going to win but HHH outsmarted him. Good stuff. Then World Champion Chris Jericho defend his title against Shawn Michaels in Ladder Match. It wasn't a classic match, it was a classic brawl. Shawn Michaels seemingly had it won but Jericho prevailed. Jericho also lost a tooth from the match. It was ugly. It was a match I'll remember for a long time. It made the Pay-per-view worth seeing.

On to the next WWE PPV, Cyber Sunday. The only interactive PPV where fans choose the stipulations or opponents. It's already looking huge. Here is the matches so far:

I got a kick this past weekend watching Kimbo Slice get knocked out in 14 seconds. Finally maybe people will listen to me realize he's freaking overrated. He has no skills what so ever. The other sad part is Shamrock is not even the one who fought him. Some UFC guy I never heard of beat him down. I love it.

Lastly, I am so glad O.J. Simpson was finally convicted and hopefully sentenced to life in prison. It's thirteen years in the making. The idiot gets what he deserves. Thank you for letting justice prevail finally. On that note, I am out. Have a good week. I'll be back next week. God Bless

NFL Week 4 Recap, DX, Smackdown Premier, and more

So week 4 of the NFL is over and no the Lions didnt lose. Thats because they didnt play. However the Panthers played and won against the inconsistand Falcons. Matt Ryan got a taste of the Panthers Defense. Green Bay lost again in a emotional game which saw Matt Bryant the kicker for te Bucs whose son died four days earlier. The Titans won again which shocked the hell out of me. Its awesome to see Kerry Collins in a nice roll again. Also Brett Farve killed the Arizona Cardinals by himself, just kidding. He did manage to throw six touchdown passes. Also the Cowboys lost a competitve game against the Redskins. All in all it was a good week for football.


Last night DX reunited one night only against Chris Jericho and Lance Cade. In a way I was mad because they kept building it up like it should be a surprise. I love DX, and that but it would been better if Sid and Kevin Nash would have came back. However, it did make for good tv because Shawn teased that it could be Hogan, Hart or Austin which was funny. Then he went on to say that he need to find a partner that actually likes him...That part was funny. Raw was decent but now my focus in on Smackdown because of certain people on Smackdown.

Well the MLB Playoff are here and we have Phillies vs. Brewers. Dodgers vs. Cubs. Then you have the Angels vs. Red Sox and Rays vs. winner of White Sox and twins. My hope is that it will be a freeway series or a Windy City Series.

Todd Jones is officially retired, so long Todd, I am glad your gone. Also Edgar Renteria's contract is not going to be picked up which is not surprising. NFL Week 3 Recap, Yankee Stadium, and more

Well week 3 of the NFL was pretty uneventful considering Steve Smith cameback to the Carolina Panthers....They still lost. What bothers the most is they were up 10-0 going into the 3rd quarter and they lost 21-10. The Jets got their butts handed to them by the San Diego Chargers The biggest surprises to me this years are the Buffalo Bills and the Tennasee Titans. Both are playing great football right now.

Yankee Stadium had its final game this past Sunday. It was New York vs. Baltimore. The Yankees won and thank God they did because it would have been sad if they would have lost. I hate the Yankees but I can apprieciate the history of that place. To me its Madison Square Garden and all the great wrestling memories in that place. Thats what Yankee Stadium means to baseball. Its a lifetime full of memories.

Yesterday was the greastest day in the History of the Detroit Lions. Matt Millen is bye-bye. Thank God. Thats all that needs to be said.

NFL Week 2, Brewers, Cubs, HBK, and more

Well week 2 in the NFL has concluded and the Lions still suck. I am so glad I am not Lions fan. The first thing that needs to happen for me to become a fan is for Ford to sell the team to Illitch who owns the Tigers and Red Wings or Bill Davidson who owns the Pistons, Shock and Tampa Bay Lightning. They would atleast do something with the team. My Carolina Panthers won again in a stunning comeback against the Bears. That would be 2-0 and they did it without my man Steve Smith. Wait until he comesback this week. Things are going to get better. I also enjoyed the Jets-Patroits game and the Browns-Steelers game as well. Both were very competitive and fun to watch.

I am still in shock the Brewers fired Ned Yost when the season is almost over. He's led them to two winning seasons. The best they've done in a long time. I understand they have lost 7 out of the last ten but they should have waited until the end of the season. Who knows if they will make the playoffs now. I sure hope they do because they are fun to watch.

I can't believe the Carlos Zambrano threw a no-hitter after missing two weeks this past Sunday. That was awesome. The Cubbies are the team I hope wins it all at this point. I would like to a Cubs-White Sox World Series with the Cubs winning of course. Only time will tell if either team can get there. I am glad Alan Trammell is a coach on a winning team for once.

Last night on Monday Night Raw it was announced the Chris Jericho would defend the World Heavyweight Championship at No Mercy against the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels in a....Ladder Match. The very match Shawn Michaels revolutionized and put on the map. This is going to be one hell of a match and possibly match of the year. The Jericho-Michaels feud has taken many different turns but it would be great if Shawn won the title one more time. October 5th is gonna to be sweet



Well the Chase for the Sprint Cup started and I hope Dale Jr. wins it all. Thats all I got to say about that for now. And for all of you wrestling fans out there buy Life and Time of Mr. Perfect. NFL Week 1, WWE Unforgiven and More.

So this past week was the opening week of NFL Football and I had a lot to be excited about. My Carolina Panthers made stunning last minute play to beat the San Diego Chargers. Brett Farve looked good in a Jets uniform winning his first game. I was very shocked to see Seattle, Cinnicinatti and Indianapolas lose. Again it's only week 1 and a lot can happen. The biggest thing that happen is that the New England Patroits lost their Quarterback Tom Brady. With Brady out anything can happen now and the balance of power in the AFC. Matt Cassel I wish you nothing but the best but I don't think you will get the job done.

This past Sunday was WWE Unforgiven and boy did this PPV go better then I expected. All three championship scrambles were awesome and lived up to the hype. Matt Hardy became the new ECW Champion, Triple H retained his WWE Championship and Chris Jericho became the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Thats right Jericho is the new champ. He wasnt even suppose to be in the match but CM Punk got taken out by Four guys and thus Jericho replaced him. Also, Manu the son of Afa the Wild Samoan made his debut helping Cody Rhodes and Ted Dibiase in a post match beatdown against Cryme Tyme. Good stuff if you ask me. I would give the PPV 7 out of 10 and would say I was glad I saw it.

In other news, apparently Ric Flair was beat up by his daughter Ashleys boyfriend this past weekend. I also heard she kicked an officer and resisted arrest. Ric didnt press charges but she went to jail anyways. It sounds to me that the Flairs need to be on VH1 like the Hogans were. Completely disfunctional and direspectful

Lastly, the Life and Times of Mr. Perfect comes out today on DVD. I am really looking foward to it. I'll have a review of it in a few days. Until then God Bless.

I got a huge laugh out of this because I look ridiculious, the few times I was shown. We all have to start somewhere

I am back!!!

So it's been a long time since I've posted on this. I had to get through some tough stuff in my life to be able to want to post again. With that said I am excited for UFC 91: Lesnar vs. Couture for the UFC Heavyweight Championship. Couture hasn't fought since 2007 but Lesnar destroyed Heath Herring in his last match. Can Lesnar be the first ever to be UFC Heavyweight Champion and WWE Champion. No man has ever done that however Severn was a UFC Champion and NWA Heavyweight Champion. This undoubtly will be the biggest fight in UFC History. As a pro wrestling fan I am rooting for Lesnar. In my opinion if McMahon wouldn't have pushed Brock so hard, he'd still be there. I bet you New York fans wish they wouldn't have booed him out of the building at Wrestlemania 20. The next big thing will become The Biggest thing on November 15th.

Football season start tomorrow, and I am looking foward to two things. Brett Farve leading the Jets to a playoff appearence and The Carolina Panthers hopefully be back to a Super Bowl Contender. As for the home state Lions. I never hold my breath and I never get my hopes up. I do feel however with Rudi Johnson at Running Back they might be a little bit better. Only time will tell this coming Sunday

I've officially written off baseball for the year because of the Tigers. The only way I will watch it is if the Cubs, Brewers or Rays go...or if its an L.A. World Series or a Chicago World Series. A one town Series would be cool just like in 2000 with the Subway Series.

Last but not least is this Sundays WWE PPV, Unforgiven. For the first time there will be a Championship Sramble...Not just one but three. Here are the rules for the Scramble:

The match has a 20-minute time limit. Two randomly selected participants will start the match, with a new challenger entering the match every five minutes.
If a Superstar scores a pinfall or submission on any other Superstar in the match, he is declared the "interim" champion for match purposes (and is not officially recognized as champion in the title history). He holds that designation until another Superstar scores a subsequent pinfall or submission on any other Superstar.
The last Superstar to earn a pinfall or submission within the time limit will be officially declared the Champion.

Baseball, Football, Olympics, and more

Well a lot has happened since I last updated. One of those being a couple of big trades in baseball. First I'll start with home team. The Tigers traded Pudge to the Yankees for Kyle Farnsworth. Another horrible move by Mr. Dombrowski. Thanks Dave. They also put Gary Sheffield on waivers which that was about time. I can't stand Sheffield as a player. He's been very unproductive since coming to the Tigers. The biggest trade of the deadline was the dead that sent Manny to the Dodgers. That was huge. I think he wore out his welcome in Boston but Bostons lost is Los Angeles' gain.

Now in the matter of football, Brett Farve became a New York Jet which I thought was totally awesome. I am sick of hearing all these people saying that he need to retire. If the guy wants to play let him play. I mean judging from his first preseason game he looked pretty good. I really feel bad for Packer fans who have season tickets and such because they are going to have a horrible year ahead of them. Aaron Rodgers will not make it through the year. It should be very interesting to see what happens.

I've been watching the Olympics quite intently this year and it's because of two reasons, Michael Phelps and the Mens Basketball team. Phelps was awesome in these Olympics and so has the USA Basketball team. I really hope they win the Gold. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Last but not least is the fact that Summerslam was last night and it went way better then I expected. Batista and Cena had a great match. Punk/JBL did good but the thing that topped it all of was Undertaker and Edge going to head to head in Hell in a Cell. It was crazy, brutal and it was an all out war. I thought Summerslam was a 7 out of 10. Good but not great compared to others in the past.

Two weeks worth of stuff

I apologize for not updating. My Grandmother passed away this past week and just haven't had time to update. But lets rewind a little. The All Star Game was a couple of weeks ago. It was awesome. It went like 13 innings and Michael Young won the game again, but Carlos Guillen had a nice shot that almost won it. It was probably the best All-Star Game to date that I have seen.

Next on the agenda, is Brett Farve. He is a great Quarterback but in my opinion he needs to stay retired. Look how Michael Jordan destroyed his legacy when he came back to the Wizards. If Brett comes back he needs go back to a team that is going to be a championship contender. How about this for a storyline....Brett Farve vs. The Packers in the Super Bowl. That would draw the ratings for sure. Never say never.

So MLB trade deadline is a few days away and I'll be curious to see what the Tigers do about their relief pitching. Here is the guys I would get rid of:

Edgar Renteria

Call me crazy but I would love to see Guillen at Short and Inge at 3rd again. Pudge is getting old and sucks now. The Youngers guy like Thomas, Larish and Joyce deserve to be up there full time. Bring Clevelan and Raburn back while you're at it. If the Tigers don't deal by Thursday I will not watch them the rest of the year.

What a Monday Night!!!

Last night was an awesome night if you are a baseball fan or more importantly a Texas Rangers fan. The Home Run Derby was at Yankee Stadium last night and one man defied the odds, and put on one of the greatest shows ever. Josh Hamilton hit 28 home runs in the 1st round of the Home Run Derby last night, which is now a record for the 1st round. This mans story is incredible. He is a recovering alcoholic and heroin addict. He missed three years of baseball due to his drug problems. He came back with the Cincinatti Reds last year and now is playing for the Texas Rangers. Even the ruthless New Yorkers were cheering this guy and believe me thats hard to do, because Yankee fans are hard to please. I can't even go on about this anymore because words really can't describe it. I mean you had to watch to experience the feeling of it. To me, missing Monday Night Raw was well worth it last night. Review of the Ric Flair Definitive Collection

So I stayed up until about 3am watching the new Ric Flair DVD and let me tell you it was well worth it. It made you laugh; it made you cry and gave you a whole new meaning to what passion for pro wrestling is all about. I liked a lot of the stories he told about his times in WCW and WWE. I liked his thoughts on Sting, Hogan, Bischoff, Jim Herd and Ricky Steamboat. He talks candidly about them and doesn’t hold anything back.

After watching the DVD, there is a lot I found about WCW and the politics that went into it. One story I heard was when Flair came back to WCW after losing to Mr. Perfect on Raw, Ole Anderson told him that he was no value to him because he lost to Perfect on national TV. All I can say wow. My first impression was that there is no shame in losing to Curt Hennig on national TV. Then he spoke of how he made the introductions to Savage and Hogan that allowed Bischoff to sign them. Interesting stuff that make me love pro wrestling even more then I already did.

The matches on this DVD are great. My two favorites are Flair vs. Steamboat in 94, one of Steamboats last matches and Flair vs. Sting from the first Clash of the Champions. I still think Sting should come to WWE, and Ric even said his biggest mistake was not signing with WWE, because he was better then Warrior or Hogan ever thought about being. I also liked in one of the extras that his current wife talks about the relationship he has with Batista, Randy Orton, Triple H and Shawn Michaels during the Evolution run. Apparently Shawn rode with them and hung out with them. But she described it as they were a family. The one final thing that captured my attention is how Ric said the Wrestlemania 24 was the greatest weekend of his life. The Hall of Fame, his match with Shawn and the farewell on Raw were special to him. It’s a stylin’ and profilin’ DVD.

Anyone who is anyone in this business needs to buy this DVD. I don’t care if you’re fan, wrestler, wrestler, promoter or whatever you need to buy this DVD. Ric embodies passion in pro wrestling and what it takes to be a champion. To me he is the greatest pro wrestler of all time. Guys like Hogan, Hart, HBK, HHH and others are awesome and no one will ever replace them but Ric Flair stands out more then they do. Like I said before, if you love this wacky crazy world of pro wrestling you need to own this DVD, even it’s the only wrestling DVD you ever buy, this needs to be the one that you buy. Watch it, enjoy it and love it, because to Be the man, you have to beat the man….WHOOOO

UFC: Griffen vs. Jackson recap

This past Saturday, Forrest Griffen challanged Quinten "Rampage" Jackson for the UFC Light-Heavyweight Title. Everyone said it would be the toughest challange for Griffen but I said the it would be the toughest challange for Jackson yet to date. Ive loved Forrest ever since he was on the Ultimate Fighter. He had the greatest match ever with Stephan Bonner which seemed like a long time ago. Anyways, the match was dominated by Forrest the whole time. Rampage nailed a few good shots in but it wasn't enough to stop Forrest. Anyways it was a great fight. All the fights on the show were good. First UFC PPV I've actually watched live and it was well worth it. Well thats all from me right now but I'll be back later this week. Have a good one. God Bless

The Young Guns Rule Monday Night Raw

Well after this past Monday Night, it is safe to say that Raw is ruled by the young guns. I mean look it at what we got. Ted Dibiase and Cody Rhodes are the new tag team champions. I think they are going to do great things in wrestling. It made no sense having Cody and Hardcore as tag champs. Cody and Ted make sense because they are 2nd/3rd generation stars. I think it will be a long while before anyone knocks them off for the gold.

Also which was totally awesome in my view was the fact the Kofi Kingston won the Intercontential Championship from Y2J. Hopefully Kofi can restore the glory the IC title had at one time. To me Kofi Kingston is a special kind of wrestler that doesn't come around very often. He does things in the ring that really no one else does or could possibly do. He makes you anticipate every move. I'll say this much, Kofi Kingston will be a World Heavyweight Champion someday. You can bet on it

Speaking of the World Heavyweight Championship, was Monday somewhat a shocker or what. I mean I knew that as soon as Edge came out it was going down but I was surprised Edge came out in the manner he did. I have a lot of mixed feelings for CM Punk, I love him as a wrestler but then I hear all these things about his bad attitude and how much of a prick he is. I don't know him so I can't say. Maybe he has changed his attitude. Who knows? All I know, it made for great TV this past Monday and now I am looking foward to this coming Mondays Raw to find out what the hell is going to happen.

NBA DRAFT, MORE WWE OF THE DRAFT AND MLB NEWS

First I would like to apologize because I didn't follow any college basketball this past year so I only knew of one guy and thats OJ Mayo who was drafted to Minnesota but then traded to Memphis earlier this morning. The Pistons got the follow people:
Trent Plaisted, Deron Washington, and Walter Sharpe. I don't have any info or insight on these guys so if anyone can provide me some I'd greatly apprieciate it.

Now on to the WWE Draft, more superstars were drafted this past Wednesday as part of a supplemental draft and my one of my new favorites, Kofi Kingston was drafted to Raw. I am happy about that because Kofi is awesome and deserves any opportunity or title he gets in the future. His style is like no-other Ive seen before. Look foward to great things from him.

The Tigers seem to be getting better and better again. In no time at will they be in 1st place. This past week though, not Tigers related, Astros player Shawn Chacon wound up throwing his GM by the neck this week after sparks flew in a meeting. Chacon was released last night and on waivers right now. What an idiot. He just threw his whole career right down the window by doing that. You don't strike a GM, they guy signs your check. Are you nuts? Man I am interested to see if someone picks up him up. Only time will tell.

Thoughts on the WWE Draft

Well the 2008 WWE Draft has come and gone and it was probably the biggest, the best and the most surprising draft of all time. I cannot believe who went where. Let’s recap

I think all 3 brands got some great talent. I think it was good that ECW lost Kane and Punk. Kane is a veteran who deserves more and Punk is ready for the big time. Adding Matt Hardy was good because he is a great wrestler and will have some great matches over there. It is however time to starting pushing guys harder like Kofi, Elijah Burke, and Shelton Benjamin. And how about that newcomer they have Evan Bourne. WWE finally made a smart signing

On the Smackdown side of it, everything changes. Triple H, Kennedy, Umaga, and Hardy are all forces to be reckoned with. I think that Triple H somehow will wind up back on Raw because of his displeasure of working on Tuesday Night tapings. However if he is there to stay its going to be interesting to see what happens. I am really looking forward to an Umaga vs. Undertaker feud when the Undertaker comes back.

Last but not least you have Raw. They added to great talents in CM Punk and Rey Mysterio. The moment Mysterio was drafted the match I wanted to see the most is Rey vs. Shawn. They have only fought once and that was the Eddie Guerrero tribute show. I think CM Punk will do great on Raw. Then you have the two big men, Kane and Batista. I would not be surprised to see Batista wearing gold on Raw again.

I will say the one bad thing about the Draft was J.R. being drafted to Smackdown and Michael Cole being drafted to Raw. J.R. was and is the voice of Raw but maybe that’s WWE’s way of saying that you need to start thinking about retirement and let someone new come in. Thank God Mike Adamle didn’t get drafted to Raw otherwise I would have quit watching wrestling all together. He’s just horrible. Anyways, the whole show was great in my opinion. It was much better then I thought it was going to be. I cannot wait for Smackdown this Friday and Night of Champions this Sunday. What a week in wrestling.

My Bold Prediction Comes True and More...

Finally I can say that I am right. Last year, on the day Kevin Garnett was traded to the Boston Celtics I told five people that they would win the NBA Title. Now all those months later I was right. I consistantly told people all year long Boston would win, and would win convincingly. I said it all a long. What the NBA wants, the NBA gets and they wanted the to most historic frachises in history to go at it for the title once again. The coolest thing I saw last night was KG hugging Bill Russell and saying, "I hope we made you proud. Russell replied with, "You did" Although the Detroit Pistons are my team and I will always root for them. I wanted Boston to win it all just so I could be right. Great job Boston but don't enjoy it too much because the Pistons will be back better then ever next year.

Marcus Thames....Thats all I can really say. He's killing the ball everytime at bat right now. I love watching the Tigers...I will always root for them even when they are losing and I get mad, I root for them. Their my team. No matter what.
