NFL Off-Season Moves as of 1/31/2012

Even though the Super Bowl has not been played there are still a lot of personnel and coacching changes going on. Here is a recap of what's gone down the last two weeks. 

-Miami Dolphins named Joe Philbin coach.

-Washington Redskins named Raheem Morris defensive backs coach and Ike Hilliard wide receivers coach.

-St. Louis Rams named Brian Schottenheimer offensive coordinator and Gregg Williams defensive coordinator.

-Baltimore Ravens named Jim Caldwell quarterbacks coach.

-Denver Broncos named Jack Del Rio defensive coordinator.

-Oakland Raiders named Dennis Allen coach.

-Tampa Bay Buccanneers Named Greg Schiano coach and signed him to a five-year contract.

-Indianapolis Colts Named Chuck Pagano coach.

As you can see no major player movement but a lot of these head coaches that became coordinators will bring a lot of knowledge and expertise to the teams they signed with. Keep checking back after the Super Bowl for more wheeling and dealing.

Mike Tyson Inducted into the 2012 WWE Hall of Fame

At the 1998 Royal Rumble Mike Tyson sat in a sky-box cheering on his favorite WWE star Stone Cold Steve Austin. Little did we know he would become a part of one of the best buildups to Wrestlemania in the history of the WWE. Tyson eventually sided with the DX until Wrestlemania 14.

At Wrestlemania 14 he counted to three as Stone Cold defeated Shawn Michael to win the WWE title and launch the Attitude Era. However that wasn't Tyson's go around with the WWE. He appeared in early 2010 as a guest host on Monday Night Raw where once he aligned himself with DX. Tyson has went on record as saying his funnest times in a ring have been with WWE and has always been a huge fan of WWE.

A lot of people say the celebrities who get inducted are ridiculous. I agree that Drew Carey should not have been in the WWE Hall of Fame. However guys like Bob Uecker and Pete Rose belong there because they took part in multiple Wrestlemania's. Whether you love or hate him, Mike Tyson's involvement with Wrestlemania 14 brought a lot of mainstream media to the WWE that it sorely lacked. If any celebrity ever deserved to be in the WWE Hall of Fame it is Mike Tyson.

Mike Tyson's boxing record is 50–6 with two no contests. He held the WBC Heavyweight Championship, WBA Heavyweight Championship, and IBF Heavyweight Championship. He had some great fights, controversy moments, and is known all around the world. There is no doubt Tyson's induction will bring a lot of media attention to the WWE. Tyson says its honor to be inducted so I would like to say congratulations to "The Baddest Man on the Planet" Mike Tyson for being an inductee into the 2012 WWE Hall of Fame.

Rumblings and Results from the 2012 WWE Royal Rumble

 Road to Wrestlemania?

Tonight was the 25th Anniversary of the Royal Rumble and the beginning of the Road to Wrestlemania. I have a lot of mixed emotions about tonights Rumble pay-per-view and the opening match was part of it. The opening was the triple threat match for the World Heavyweight Title between Big Show, Mark Henry and Daniel Bryan. The start of the match was excellent and thought out brilliant but I feel the match ended very quickly and abruptly without a lot of dramatic flare to it. Daniel Bryan retained his title and kept this heel heat going. 

They had a special 8 Diva tag match in which Kelly Kelly got booed and pinned by Beth Phoenix. I am disappointed that more focus was not put on Natalya and Tamina who have had some great matches lately. I really think Beth Phoenix, Natalya and Taminia in a 3 way dance for the Divas title at some point. The other surprise match was Drew McIntyre being squashed by Brodus Clay. I really thought Brodus should have been in the Rumble match. 

For all the John Cena and Zack Ryder fans out there, tonight was not your not. Something big is going to happen with Kane. Kane has been on the warpath and it seems like no one can stop him. Cena did not turn heel and embrace the hate like everyone thought. Lets face it though, Cena will have to turn before he faces The Rock at Wrestlemania 28.

The best match of the night was the WWE Title match between CM Punk and Dolph Ziggler. I am really surprised with the direction they took the match with Johnny Ace's involvement. Ziggler has proven a lot over the last year. He's the modern day Mr. Perfect who belongs in the spotlight and deserves to have a World Championship someday. Punk retains the title but who will he face at Wrestlemania?

Now onto the Rumble match. The first half of the Rumble match did not interest me with the majority of the first 15. The majority of the first 15 had no business being in the Royal Rumble. They should have had legends or big superstars who have been out make a return. Don't agree with me look at the list.

The highlights for me in the first half of the Rumble were Ricardo pretending to be Alberto Del Rio, and Socko vs. the Cobra. Mick Foley and Santino had some great comedy in it. The second half of the Rumble is when it started to pick and that had some huge surprises in it as well.

The two big ones for me were Road Dogg coming and Kharma making her return. I also thought it was great how all three commentators were in the match at one point. The final two came down to Sheamus and Chris Jericho. I honestly did not expect this but it was a classic finish and at the end of the night Sheamus won the Royal Rumble and is headed to Wrestlemania.

All in all it was a solid show, with a few disappointments and some great moments, like Kofi Kingstons handstand spot in the Rumble. I expect some big things to happen the next few months some of final guys that were involved.

Predictions for the 2012 WWE Royal Rumble

This Sunday is the Royal Rumble and four big matches are set for the PPV. This is the beginning of the Road to Wrestlemania and where the storylines and matches start to take shape for the grandest stage in WWE.

30-Man Royal Rumble Match
I love how only eight names have been revealed so far. Those names are Chris Jericho, Mick Foley, The Miz,R-Truth, Sheamus, Wade Barrett, Randy Orton, Santino Marella. I think it's coming down Jericho, Foley, Barrett and Orton as the final four. The main focus has been on these four as well as Sheamus unless that's what WWE wants you to believe. Don't forget they made the stipulation that every WWE Superstar is eligible for the Royal Rumble. You could see both the World Champion and WWE Champion in the Rumble as well. I am going to say the winner of the Royal Rumble will be Wade Barrett because of how much heat he will get winning it in Orton's hometown and how the WWE needs to have a new face hold the World Title. Barrett eliminates Orton to be the last man remaining.

John Cena vs. Kane

I believe this is the beginning of John Cena's heel turn. I think he will embrace the hate and beat Kane but at the same time slowly turn heel for his match at Wrestlemania 28 with The Rock.

World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan vs. Big Show vs. Mark Henry (Triple Threat Steel Cage Match)
A lot of people are not happy about how Daniel Bryan is being used in his World Title reign. I think it's brilliant and I believe he will be very sneaky and come out as still the World Heavyweight Champion. My prediction is that it will be Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett vs. Daniel Bryan for the World Title at Wrestlemania 28.

WWE Champion CM Punk vs. Dolph Ziggler (Special Guest Referee John Laurinaitis)
This is a tricky one. I think Dolph Ziggler will win his first WWE Championship then drop it back to Punk at Elimination Chamber. Johnny Ace will screw CM Punk over and then be fired the next night on Raw. I have also heard rumors of HHH and Punk at Mania which could end up being played into in this match.

Nike's CEO Lashes Out at Paterno Memorial Service

On Thursday January 26th, Phil Knight who is CEO and co-chairman of Nike spoke at Joe Paterno's Memorial Service. He not only talked about his friend and his hero but he expressed his anger of Joe Paterno's firing and how it was handled. He also went on to say that Joe Paterno is not the villain in this tragedy. All I'd like to say is it's about time that someone stood up for what is right and stood up to the Board of Trustee and Penn State. I will say what I wrote previously and that is Joe Paterno died of a broken heart and Penn State, Jerry Sandusky and the media are to blame for Paterno's death and heartbreak. Major WWE Pay-Per-View Changes in 2012

With the first WWE pay-per-view of 2012 almost here there are two major changes to talk about. There will no longer Money in the Bank. Here is the schedule for WWE pay-per-views in 2012.

+Royal Rumble – January 29th – St. Louis
+Elimination Chamber – February 19th – Milwaukee
+ WrestleMania 28 – April 1st – Miami
+ Extreme Rules – April 29th – Chicago
+ Over The Limit – May 20th – Raleigh
+ Fatal 4 Way – June 17th – Toronto

+ Night of Champions – September 23rd – Dallas
+Hell in a Cell – October 28th – Philadelphia

As you can see Bragging Rights, and Fatal Four Way are back while The Bash, Vengeance and Money in the Bank have been removed. It is been reported that the Money in the Bank ladder match will be back at Wrestlemania and possibly a second one at TLC. 

The other change as right now is Direct TV and WWE are currently under a contract dispute. I contacted my local Buffalo Wild Wings who shows WWE pay-per-views and this is the message I recieved back,  " We know it is an inconvenience that we will not be carrying WWE but unfortunately there is currently a dispute between WWE and DirecTV which has caused a major inflation in cost. We encourage fans to contact WWE directly to voice their disappointment and will keep you updated as things progress."

All I can say this is could really hurt the PPV market because so many sports bars show WWE events and those numbers could go down. In the end the WWE, Direct TV and the sports bars who show the events. This is a bad business deal on all fronts and needs to be resolved.

Baseball Off-season Moves as of 1/25/2012

There has been a ton of player movement since the last time I reported so here is a run down of all the wheeling and dealing thats taken place in the last two weeks.

-Washington Nationals agreed to terms with LHP Gio Gonzalez on a five-year contract.

-Toronto Blue Jays agreed to terms with OF Colby Rasmus, RHP Carlos Villanueva, 2B Kelly Johnson and OF Ben Francisco to one-year contracts. Also agreed to terms with INF Omar Vizquel to a minor league contract. Has also agreed to terms with RHP Brandon Morrow on a three-year contract.

-Boston Red Sox agreed to terms with C Jarrod Saltalamacchia on a one-year contract.

-New York Yankees agreed to terms with RHP Phil Hughes on a one-year contract. Also acquired RHP Michael Pineda and RHP Jose Campos from Seattle C-DH Jesus Montero and RHP Hector Noesi. Has announced the retirement of C Jorge Posada.

-San Francisco agreed to terms with 3B Pablo Sandoval on three-year contract. Also agreed to terms with OF Melky Cabrera, RHP Santiago Casilla and OF Nate Schierholtz on one-year contracts

-Arizona Diamondbacks agreed to terms with LHP Joe Saunders on a one-year contract.

-Texas Rangers agreed to terms with RHP Yu Darvish on a six-year contract.

-Minnesota Twins agreed to terms with RHP Joel Zumaya on a one-year contract.

-Colorado Rockies agreed to terms with LHP Jamie Moyer on a minor league contract. Also acquired INF Marco Scutaro from the Boston Red Sox for RHP Clayton Mortensen.

-Cincinnati Reds agreed to terms with RHP Ryan Madson on a one-year contract.

-Oakland Athletics agreed to terms with RHP Bartolo Colon on a one-year contract.

-Tampa Bay Rays agreed to terms with 1B Carlos Pena on a one-year contract.

-Seattle Mariners agreed to terms with RHP Kevin Millwood on a minor league contract.

Although it's not been listed as an official transaction the Detroit Tigers agreed to a 9 year/214 million dollar deal yesterday. I have also noticed a lot of teams are only re-signing guys to one year deals which makes things even more interesting. I also noticed a lot of veterans that were once great players have signed for minor league contracts. Spring Training is right around the corner and the outlook for what each team is going to look like is becoming more clearer. Keep checking back for wheeling and dealing in baseball.

Thoughts on Joe Paterno's Passing

The quote I read on Facebook sums it up best. "Penn State, Jerry Sandusky, and ESPN murdered Joe Paterno." Joe Paterno passed away this past Sunday from complications that he had with cancer treatment. Although cancer was the reason of his passing, I believe Paterno did die of a broken heart and lost the will to live after the Penn State scandal that came out just a few short months ago. The way Penn State handled his dismissal was a slap in the face towards everything he did for that University. I honestly hope every last member of the Penn State board of directors gets voted off and has no assocation with the Penn State.

As far as Jerry Sandusky goes, his name shouldn't even be mentioned in memorials for Joe Paterno. He is the reason all of this has happened to the Paterno family, Penn State and those kids he scarred for life. He is a useless, worth pedophile that needs to be in jail and taken care of properly. People need to stop associating the two because Paterno did what he thought he had to do by telling who he thought were the right people. Jerry Sandusky sexually abused childeren, NOT JOE PATERNO.

Lastly I am digusted with the sports media on their coverage on Paterno. When the scandal went down they all made him out to be a horrible person for what someone else did. Now that he passed away he is a legend and a hero again. I am sorry but thats hypcrocacy at it's best. You condemn him, then you praise him. I thought Joe Paterno was and always will be legend.

He won numerous awards and accomplished a lot of great things. Joe Paterno did so much for Penn State and other charitable organizations. He should be remembered for all the great things he did, not the horrible acts of another human being. Joe Paterno was loved by all, and will be remembered by many. My prayers and condolences go out to the Paterno family, and those at Penn State who supported Joe Paterno. Everyone  should be remembered a life that lived well and to the fullest. We will never forget you JoePa.

So as you can see a lot of teams have not spent that much money the two top teams spent a fortune. I wonder how the Marlins and Angels will do. As we have seen in the past, the Marlins will build these mega teams, win a World Series, and then break the team up. The Angels have always been committed to winning and now with Albert Pujols there they have a much better chance of doing so. Will we see a Marlins vs. Angels World Series? Only time will tell.

The NFL Off-Season Moves Begin- Moves as of 1/17/2012

Although the NFL season is not over because the Super Bowl has not been played yet, many teams and players are already making moves for next year. Here is what's went on since New Years Day once the regular season concluded.

-St Louis Rams fired coach Steve Spagnuolo and general manager Billy Devaney. Also named Jeff Fisher coach and signed him to a five-year contract.

-Tampa Bay Buccanneers fired coach Raheem Morris.

-Indianapolis Colts fired vice chairman Bill Polian and vice president and general manager Chris Polian. Also fired coach Jim Caldwell and named Ryan Grigson general manager.

-Chicago Bears fired general manager Jerry Angelo and offensive coordinator Mike Martz.
-Oakland Raiders agreed to terms with Reggie McKenzie to become their general manager. Also fired coach Hue Jackson.

-Derrick Mason announced his retirement.

-New York Jets named Tony Sparano offensive coordinator.

-Washington Redskins named Raheem Morris defensive backs coach.

-Dallas Cowboys named Bill Callahan offensive line coach and offensive coordinator and Jerome Henderson secondary coach.

-Atlanta Falcons named Mike Nolan defensive coordinator.

It's been two weeks since the last updated on the baseball off-season moves so here is the wheeling and dealing thats take place in the last couple of weeks.

-Miami Marlins agreed to terms with 1B Greg Dobbs on a two-year contract.

-Atlanta Braves agreed to terms with INF Jack Wilson and OF Martin Prado on one-year contracts.

-Chicago Cubs acquired RHP Chris Volstad from Miami for RHP Carlos Zambrano and cash considerations.

Thoughts on the New Brodus Clay

This past Monday the long awaited re-debut of Brodus Clay happened.When he first came out I couldnt believe what I was seeing. I did not see the big mean monster that was Alberto Del Rio's sidekick. Now he is from Planet Funk and calls himself The Funkasaurus. When I saw him I thought of 4 people and they were The Godfather, Flash Funk, Dusty Rhodes and Ernest Miller. It was absolutely insane and the crowd didn't know what to think.

For those who are unhappy I think it's awesome because WWE threw everyone with thinking that he going to come back as this heel monster that destroys everyone. Instead he will probably become a pretty popular face that has great agility for his size. Its like I have always said, Vince McMahon and company have a way of sticking a gimmick on someone and making it work. I think this is one of those times where the gimmick is going to work and Brodus will get a great response. We haven't seen a character like this in quite sometime so I will be curious to see how far it goes.

Brodus Clay is finally here but the question is, will he succeed as the The Funkasaurus?

It's Not All About Tim Tebow

On Sunday afternoon, I was just as shocked as anyone was when the Denver Broncos defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in overtime on the first play. However, all night into the next morning was how Tim Tebow was the hero of the game and how magical he was. Newsflash everyone: Tim Tebow did not win the game by himself. All year long, week after week, ESPN became the Tebow network. It was all about Tebow.

Don't get me wrong; I like Tim Tebow as a person, an athlete and as a fellow Christian. He is a good role model for young people all over the world. However, with that being said, he is not the only reason the Broncos have been successful this year. The defense has been stellar all year, coming up big when they needed to. Guys like Von Miller and Champ deserve a lot of credit as well. Even on offense, guys like Willis McGahee, Eric Decker, Eddie Royal, and others have been a huge part of the Broncos offense this year.

Lets look at it from a statistical point of view. Tebow only threw for 12 touchdowns, 1279 yards and had a QB rating of 72.9 in the regular season. He only completed 46 percent of his passes with an average of a little over 6 yards a pass. I am not taking away from what he did Sunday, because on Sunday he threw 316 yards with 2 touchdowns and a passer rating of 125.6. However, his completion percentage was the same, which still makes him an inconsistent Quarterback. People make the argument that he is a running QB. That would be a good argument if Cam Newton didn't shine. Cam Newton threw for 21 touchdowns, 4051 yards and completed 60 percent of his passes. He had a QB rating 84.5. Make any argument you want, but the facts and numbers don't lie.

At the end of the day, all I am saying is if you're going to credit Tim Tebow, credit the entire Denver Broncos team, because they have played well and deserve all the credit in the world. Remember, there is no I in team, and one person doesn't make the whole team. Fans and critics alike should remember that and not make any exceptions.

The Ultimate BCS National Championship Solution

Every year after the National Championship has been decided, the ongoing debate begins about who is really the best and how it should really be decided. In previous writings I have suggested that it should go to a playoff system. Now I've come up with the perfect solution for everyone. There should be an 8 team playoff where 1 team from each conference is represented. The Conferences should include the Big 10, Big 12, Big East, Pac-12, SEC, ACC, Mountain West, and IA Independents.

Now you're probably asking how should it be determined who gets in and who doesn't. It's quite simple actually. At the end of the regular College Football season, take the two best teams in each conference and put them in the title conference game. Whoever wins that game is in the playoffs. Now people might ask about what to do with the other big bowl games. That too is also a very simple solution. The Rose Bowl would be the runner up in the Big 10 vs. the runner up in the Pac-12. The Fiesta Bowl, Orange Bowl and Sugar Bowl would be a random drawing of the teams that lost in their conference title games.

College Sports is no different from pro sports in the fact that it's about making money and drawing ratings. No one wants to see two SEC teams, or two teams from the same conference play for a National Championship. My solution offers a chance to make more money and draw more ratings. If each conference is represented with something to play for, fans of those conferences would be more likely to watch what goes down. For example, if they would have had an 8 team playoff this year, this is who would have been in:

Oklahoma St., Virginia Tech, Cincinnati, Wisconsin, Brigham Young, TCU, Oregon, and LSU. Can you honestly tell me that potential to see these teams play each other would not excite you? I would have loved to have seen some different matchups that I am not accustomed to seeing.

I think in the end, no matter what the format or solution, there needs to be a National Championship Tournament featuring the top 8 teams in the country. I believe my solution is fair, and it keeps everyone involved and ends almost any debate that a school would have for why they should be in a National Championship Game. Bring on the playoffs and bring us excitement. In the end, everyone will win.

The Four Horsemen in the 2012 WWE Hall of Fame

Diamonds are forever and so are the Four Horsemen. Now they will be a part of wrestling forever as the Horsemen will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. The Horsemen began in 1987. They ran hard with different variations until 1999. Some of the different members along the way included the likes of Lex Luger, Sid Vicious, Sting, Chris Benoit, Paul Roma, Brian Pillman, Ole Anderson, Steve McMichael and Dean Malenko. Although all of these men were Horsemen many have said the 1988 version of the Horsemen were the best. I, for one, happen to agree.

The Four Horsemen of 1988 held all the titles in NWA/WCW and were selling out arenas all over the country. They feuded with the likes of Magnum T.A., Lex Luger, Sting, Dusty Rhodes and the Road Warriors. Every member brought a different level of importance to the group. Many say it was all about Ric Flair, but I don't think Flair would have been as successful if he wouldn't have had the Horsemen behind him. The members of the 1988 Horsemen had over 20 title reigns when they were together.

They were the most vilified group at the time but now have become the most respected and loved for what they brought to the business. If it weren't for the Horsemen, there would be no DX, nWo, or Evolution. The Four Horsemen were so influential that WWE had its own version in the form of Evolution which consisted of Ric Flair, Triple H, Randy Orton and Batista. Both the Horsemen and Evolution were about money, women, parties, power and prestige. Both groups held all the major titles their respective companies possessed. The other thing they each had was star power. Each stable had members that brought different elements to the group. Many think Evolution was about Triple H but in the end it was about Randy Orton and Batista becoming bigger stars. That's what the Horsemen was about; it helped Blanchard, Anderson and Windham become bigger stars.

I personally think that this is long overdue and was happy to see the Horsemen reunite in 2008 for Ric Flair's WWE farewell. I knew then that those men who stood side by side with the Nature Boy should be in that same Hall of Fame. Individually, all four men were great, but collectively, the Four Horsemen were untouchable.

I am proud, honored, and privlaged to be able to write about the greatest wrestling stable of all time. Congratulations to The Four Horsemen on being in the 2012 WWE Hall of Fame. Diamonds are indeed forever and so are the Four Horsemen. "Whether you like it, or you don't like it, learn to love it! It's the best thing going today!"

Edge retired as World Heavyweight and won his last

At the age of 38, Adam Copeland retired due to a severe neck injury. Although his career ended abruptly he had an amazing 13 year career in the WWE. My first of memory of Edge was in 1998 when he mysteriously would come out of the crowd  . Edge then began his illustrious tag team run with Christian and they went on to win the tag team championships 7 times while also helping to set the standard for ladder matches.

Although Edge's tag team runs were great, he broke out at the Rated R Superstar and the Ultimate Opportunist and forged a legacy the will never be forgotten. His greatest feuds were in 2005 with Matt Hardy and in 2006 with John Cena.  I also really enjoyed his feud with The Undertaker in 2008. 

Some people say that it might to early for this to happen but it signifies that Edge is truly retired, and that he left a legacy that won't be forgotten. I always see pictures of doing a diving spear of the ladder to Jeff Hardy at Wrestlemania 17, and to me thats what I will remember the most about Edge. He was a risk taker, innovative and cunning. He was a different breed and a different type of character who was great at being a face and a heel. 

Edge has had a lot of great matches in his career and I would give you my top 5 in no particular order.

-Edge vs. Mick Foley in a Hardcore Match at Wrestlemania 22

-Edge vs. The Undertaker Wrestlemania 24

-Edge vs. Ric Flair in a TLC Match on Raw of January 2006

-Edge vs. Matt Hardy in a Street Fight on Raw of September 2005

-Edge vs. John Cena in a TLC Match at Unforgiven 2006

Edge had 31 title reigns including being United States Champion, Intercontinental Champion  and WWE Champion. He was also the 2001 King of the Ring, 2010 Royal Rumble winner and the first ever Money in the Bank Ladder match winner. 

The list of accomplishments speak for themselves. Adam Copeland deserves to be in the WWE Hall of Fame. So without further a due, congratulations to the Rated R Superstar Edge for being one of the inductees into the 2012 WWE Hall of Fame.  

Daniel Bryan: The Attitude of a Heel

At the TLC Pay-Per-View, Daniel Bryan cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase against the Big Show 45 seconds after the Big Show defeated Mark Henry for the World Heavyweight Championship. A lot of people were genuinely happy to see the smaller but talented Bryan win his first World Championship in the WWE.

Over the last few weeks Daniel Bryan has shown more attitude and cockiness then he has in his whole time in the WWE. A lot of people are starting to show sympathy for the Big Show and hatred for Daniel Bryan. Bryan has repeatedly taunted Mark Henry over several weeks and has even cost him matches.

This past Friday, Bryan defended the title against Big Show and purposely instigated a fight with Mark Henry to cause a DQ. When the match was over Daniel Bryan received a chorus of boo's as the WWE Universe realized what he was up to.

For those who always criticize WWE's creative writers, I think this time they acted brilliantly. Normally the big men don't get the sympathy but now the people feel for the Big Show. He hasn't had a lengthy title reign in nine long years. Mark Henry has also been nursing an injury so some people are feeling for him as well.

I like the current direction that the title picture is going right now. A lot of people don't like Daniel Bryan's attitude now but I think it's great. Keep staying tune for more on Daniel Bryan's title reign. The Royal Rumble and the Road to Wrestlemania is right around the corner.

Fines in Sports: Where Does the Money Go?

Impact Wrestling and Bellator Fighting Championships Partnering Up?

As we all know sometime in the next year Bellator Fighting Championships will be debuting on Spike-TV which will fill the void that the UFC left in late 2011. There has been many talks about Impact Wrestling and Bellator cross promoting and exchanging talent because they share the same network. It is no secret that MMA stars in the past have appeared and have participated in pro wrestling. The two that stand out the most are Dan Severn and Ken Shamrock. However what a lot of people don't know is that quite a few wrestlers on the TNA roster have an MMA background.

It is well known that Kurt Angle has an MMA background and would love to have one fight before he retires. Others like RVD, Samoa Joe, and Kid Kash have legitimate MMA training. Having a partnership could open up the possibilities of getting Bobby Lashley back in the fold. I also could see Brock Lesnar, Ken Shamrock and Dan Severn being involved in this because they love both MMA and pro wrestling. 

Whether the partnership happens or not remains to be seen but I think an MMA company and pro wrestling company having a partnership would be good for business. It would bring the audiences together, educated the fans about both products and have dream matches and dream fights you thought you might never see.

Is the Big 10 Conference a Force Again?

Despite the problems that Ohio State and Penn State have had in the last year the Big 10 Conference has a lot to look forward to in the coming years ahead. The Big  10 has a good showing this year in the Bowl games especially MSU and U of M. When you win bowl games and championships it makes student athletes want to go to your school more.

Although Ohio State has a one year ban on going to any bowl games I believe having Urban Meyer as head coach is going to do wonders for him. He proved how good he could do down in Florida so once the ban is over watch it over.

Coaching is a reason you should attend MSU because of their stability in the coaching staff. Coaches Tom Izzo Mark Dantonio. Both coaches have been around a long time and produce winning teams on a consistent basis. Keeping a coach around is important to structure and culture of a team. You cant change coaches every 3 to 4 years and expect to produce winning results.

As far as U of M goes, they were struggling in basketball and have been struggling in football but now things seem to be turned around for both sports. Winning a BCS bowl game will help Michigan with recruiting and show student athletes that if you go to Michigan you're going to win.

Other schools like Wisconsin and Nebraska are in the hunt every year and can change the landscape of any BCS title picture at any given moment. Teams that are going to struggle but have the potential to turn it around are Iowa, Northwestern, Minnesota, Penn State, Purdue, Illinois and Indiana. All of these teams have some sports they are good at, and then some they are not good at. I believe each of these schools have the ability to turn it around.

Only time will tell to see if the Big 10 Conference can get back into the spotlight and be dominant. I think this year was the starting point for it to happen. In the next five years we will be talking about the Big 10 like they talk about the SEC and Pac-10 now.

Baseball Off-season Moves as of 1/1/2012

Happy New Years baseball fans. I am back to report some of the transactions that took place the last two weeks of 2011. Here is the rundown.

-Philadelphia Phillies agreed to terms with SS Jimmy Rollins on a three-year contract.
-Arizona Diamondbacks agreed to terms with OF Jason Kubel on a two-year contract.
-Colorado Rockies agreed to terms with OF Michael Cuddyer on a three-year contract and INF Casey Blake on a one-year contract.
-St. Louis Cardinals agreed to terms with OF Carlos Beltran on a two-year contract.

-Chicago White Sox agreed to terms with LHP John Danks on a five-year contract.
San Diego Padres acquired OF Carlos Quentin from the Chicago White Sox for RHP Simon Castro and LHP Pedro Hernandez.

These are just some of the moves that have been made and there are still a lot of good players that have not been seen. Prince Fielder, Jon Garland, Vladimir Guerrero, Magglio Ordonez are just some of the few names that have not been signed. This month is going to be a busy month for signings because Spring Training begins in February so keep checking back for my signings and trades.

Review of WWE 12

On New Years Eve, I ended up playing WWE 12 for almost 12 hours and in those 12 hours I found myself being absolutely in love with game. The create-a-wrestler feature is very detailed and you can do a lot with it. You can now create finishers, arenas, move-sets, titantrons, entrances, and much more.

I spent most of the night playing in WWE Universe mode and played a lot of matches. I have to add that the cut scenes and stories in Universe Mode are very fun to watch and be involved with. I think the most excitement I had was playing the Royal Rumble match. I started number one and ended up being the second to last person eliminated. I love the realism of fatigue and injuries. If you get injured in a match you get written off the storylines.

This game has everything that past and present wrestling fans could ever want including legendary wrestlers from the past. They also have old school wrestling arenas from the 90's. There are so many great things about this game. However there is one thing that's a bit irritating and that is the online connectivity. It has a lot of bugs to it right now which sometimes make it difficult to access downloadable content. WWE says they are currently working on the bugs so stay tuned for more on that.

I haven't had this much fun playing a wrestling video game in a long time. There is so much to do on this game and even in 12 hours I couldn't cover it all. As I said before this is a must have for any past or present wrestling fan. Its available on PS3, XBOX 360 and the Nintendo Wii. As the commercial says, it's bigger, badder and better. Join in the fun with WWE 12.
