Backlash, NFL Draft, Granderson

Last night at Backlash two new champions were crowned. It was awesome. All the matches were good. I can't say that there was one bad match. It was great to see Matt Hardy finally get what he deserves. It is been a long time coming fo him. The Shawn Michaels and Batista match was awesome even though Shawn may have injured himself. Glad Jericho didn't screw anyone over. The match of the night for me was the Fatal-Four Way match and yes finally my favorite guy or atleast one of my fab-five won the WWE Title...Triple H is now a 12 time WWE Champion. Hell Yes, Raw is going to be good tonight. Cannot wait

So the NFL Draft has come and gone. I want to focus on two things. who Carolina drafted and who was drafter from U of M. So here is what Carolina did in the draft:

I would say that Carolina did a fantastic job rebuilding the Offensive Line and Defensive Line. If healthy again, Carolina will be a threat once again next year. Hopefully Jake Dehllehome can get it together. Now here is who got drafted from Michigan:

Well atleast four out of the six are going to decent teams...However Jake Long and Chad Henne will help Miami be better. I am looking foward to seeing how everyone does this year. It should be good.

Last week Curtis Granderson came back from the DL. He has made a huge impact since his return. I am happy to see Curtis back in the Lineup. Hopefully the Tigers can click on all cylinders.

Sportsless in Seattle

So today my focus is on sports city or lack their of and that it is Seattle. I feel really bad for them right now because they recently lost thier basketball team, the SuperSonics. You can thank their greedy owner for that. Don't worry guys you'll get another team and suck even more just like Charlotte did. Some notable names who played in Seattle include Ray Allen, Dale Ellis, Horace Grant, Hersey Hawkins, Shawn Kemp, Gary Payton and Lenny Wilkens just to name a few. It's sad that Seattle is being deprived of sports. What the hell is wrong with these owners. The NBA needs to put their foot down and stand for tradition as well as other sports do. So now what...the Oklahama Supersonics.....pretty crappy sound to it. Good God.

If thats not bad enough, thank you Seahawks for depriving your football fans of ever seeing Shaun Alexander in a Seattle Jersey again. He's only 30 years old and had got 3-5 years left in him. I hope he comes to my team in Carolina and tears it up. Another dumb move. What else is new?

Then finally even though they are not to horrible but still stupid are the Seattle Mariners. When thinking about these other two sports teams I thought of all the guys that the Mariners have gotten ridden of or let slip awayand heres the list: Ken Griffey, Jr., Randy Johnson, Alex Rodriguez, Jamie Moyer, Freddy Garcia, Aaron Sele, and a few others. Just think of they all would have played together in their prime which would have been possible they would have a few championships. They would have been manager by one of the all time greats, Lou Pinella. It's one of those things that you say, what might have been

Seattle is not the brightest sports town in the world in terms of who runs the teams. Their fans are great from what I hear but look all the names I mentioned on all three teams. Theres not a lot of sports towns that let that many greats slip away or let go. Who knows what will become of Seattle sports, but its going to be a long time before they are celebrated like they once were. Only time will tell if Seattle can recapture its glory.

Men of the future, Men of the present

Before I get to the King of the Ring and Backlash, I want to talk about something cool thats happen in the last two weeks. Last Tuesday on ECW, they had Kofi Kingston/CM Punk/Jimmy Yang Wang/Shannon Moore vs. Shelton Benjimen/Elijah Burke/Deuce/Domino. It was an explosive 8-man tag that showcased the future of pro wrestling. It was awesome. Four out of the six have the potential to be WWE or World Champion someday. Two of them already held the ECW Title (Punk and Morrison). Then last night on Raw, they had the men of the present. It was Undertaker/Kane/John Cena/Triple H vs. JBL/Randy Orton/Chavo Guerrero/Edge. A combined 31 World titles between them. I love when WWE showcases talent like that. I just that was kind of neat.

King of the Ring and the surprising winner was William Regal...no big thing. He's just the Raw Commish. However I wonder if they will take him out of that role and into a wrestling role once again. The star of the night was CM Punk. He wound up wrestling three great matches against Matt Hardy, Chris Jericho and William Regal. He proved he can work any style. Good to see him get a push.

Backlash is this Sunday and it's heating up. The card looks like this so far:

A little bit of everything

Today I have a lot to talk about in sports right now. It seems as if there is too much going on. My first topic of the day is the Red Wings. They finally beat the Nashville Predators last night. They are moving on. Good the Red Wings, they finally won a series. I think now that they have gotten past the first round they will be a threat from here on out.

The Tigers beat the Blue Jays today spliting the series with them at two games a piece. The Tigers are showing signs of a winning ball club but still have a lot of work today. When they get all of their players healthy, then its go time. For now they will have to get by

Speaking of the Jays, the released Frank Thomas yesterday which shocked me. The Big Hurt still has some thunder in his bat yet and is just in a slump. It will be interesting to see who picks the big man up.

The Pistons lost their game with the 76ers last night 90-86. Should we be worried? No we shouldn't. Its not the first time the Pistons have lost a game in the playoffs and I am sure it won't be the last. I won't start worrying until the play Boston in the Eastern Conference Finals. I still think the NBA is rigged and it's going to be the Celtics vs. Lakers because thats what everyone want, atleast the big wigs of the NBA anyways.

And finally, I would like to add that I am sitting in the top 30 right now for Singles, in the Grand Rapids City Tournament for bowling. I had a remarkable weekend a couple of weeks and with this weekend be its last, I hope I maintain my spot.

Tigers, Pistons, Red Wings, Panthers, and more

Good Morning all. It was a fun night last night watching the Detroit Tigers tear the Cleveland Indians up. What was it 13-2. Where's all the criticizm now. Pitching wasn't that bad last night including Jason Grilli whom I can't stand. I still think we should trade him. Good to see the new kids on the block (Renteria, and Cabrera) take control of the game last night. Can't wait until the weekend series with Toronto because Toronto is solid this year.

So the regular season of the NBA has finally come to an end. The Pistons finished 59-23. Another great season. They are the number two seed in the East just behind Boston. The Pistons will be taking on the Philidelphia 76ers. Should be interesting to see the Pistons do.

In the NHL, what the hell happen to the Red Wings. They started 2-0 in their series with Nashville and now its tied up. Are we seeing another Red Wings playoff meltdown. More then likely yes. This is ridiculious. The last two years they have had the best record in the league and they can't get out of the first round of the playoffs. Nashville has got a lot of momentum right now going into the next game. Detroit better derail them before its too late

I am liking this schedule, No New England and no Indianapolas Colts. However they do have the Detroit Lions...so that should be an easy win.

In a King of the Ring updated, no competitors have been announced. The graphic of 8 superstars was removed from WWE.com. However they hint that William Regal, Carlito, Cryme Tyme and Chris Jericho will be in it. So who knows at this point in time. I am looking foward to Monday Night Raw this Monday.

King of the Ring is Back!!!!

Last night on Monday Night Raw, it was announced that the King of the Ring would return in a one night tournament with a special start time of 8pm on USA. Past winners of the King of the Ring include Don Muraco, Harley Race, Randy Savage, Ted Dibiase, Tito Santana, Bret Hart, Owen Hart, Mabel (now Big Daddy V), Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H, Ken Shamrock, Billy Gunn, Kurt Angle, Edge, Brock Lesnar and Booker T. All of those partipants have successful careers which makes yo wonder why they chose the participants for this years King of the Ring.

The participants shown on WWE.com are Chris Jericho, Triple H, Umaga, Shawn Michaels, Batista, Big Show, Montel Vontavious Porter, and CM Punk. However on the article it also mentions Mr. Kennedy and Finlay. None of the participants are confirmed but if these are the ones that are going to be in it, then we are in for an awesome King of the Ring. I'll keep you all posted on to what I found out. Detroit Sports, Samoa Joe and Rock of Love 2

Right now Detroit has got two teams to root for in the Pistons and Red Wings. The Tigers are absolutely sucking right now. A 2-10 record is just ridiculious for a team with second highest payroll in Baseball or close to it anyways. They are no better then the Lions right now. It's an absolute joke. I am looking foward to watching the Red Wings and Pistons win respective championships. It would be great.

Last night was a great night in wrestling history. TNA crowned a new Heavyweight Chamopion in Samoa Joe. He defeated Kurt Angle in a six-sides of steel match. Congrats to Samoa Joe in what was three years in the making. He has deserved that title for a long time and got what he derserved last night. Kurt Angle does know how to give back to the business that made him what he is today. Something a lot of guys don't do. I look foward to Joe's title run in TNA.

I usually don't talk about Entertainment but last night I watched the Rock of Love 2Finale and I was shocked. I was really surprised by Bret Michaels decision to pick Ambre instead of Daisy. Anyways thats it.

Advertising in sports/wrestling

Do you ever noticed or realized that you buy something or drink something because it's advertised on sports? It finally came to my attention today. Before this years Nascar seasons started I never drank Mountain Dew. Since Dale Jr. started driving the number 88 Mountain Dew car, I find myself drinking Mountain Dew every once in a while. It's weird that we love sports so much we want do whatever it takes to associate ourselves with our favorite athletes.

I mean for my own personal life, I listen to music that I never use to listen to because everytime there is a wrestling PPV song they always have a theme song to go with it and I am starting to get into Rock and some Metal.

Secondly, look at these commercials for these shoe companies. Who doesn't want a shoe that their favorite player wears or endorses. It's smart business and marketing. More people watch sports then anything else. Thats why there so many commercials whenever sports on. Look at the Super Bowl

In conclusion, major companies realize that the best way to market their product is by advertising during basketball, football, and baseball games. Or having their logo on front of a stock car. It doesnt matter what sport because sports appeal to the masses and people like what they see in sports.

Just thought I'd throw that out there. I'd like your thoughts on this. Your feedback is apprieciated.

Forrest Griffin vs. Rampage Jackson at UFC 86

Last night on UFC Fight Night Live it was annoucned on July 5th 2008, that Forrest Griffin would challange Quintin "Rampage" Jackson for the UFC Light Heavyweight Title as part of the Ultimate Fighter season conclusion. This might go down as one of the fights ever. Everytime Forrest Griffin gets in the octogan, you can always expect a great fight. I remember the two fights he had with Stephan Bonner and the one with Tito Ortiz. He's the future of the UFC. Rampage Jackson may have met his match in Griffin. Griffin is crazy and enjoys the punishment. He also enjoys a good fight which is a good attitude to have. I say Griffin over Jackson and it will go five rounds.

Some other big fights coming up are taking place on April 19th and fights include
Matt Serra Vs. Georges St-Pierre and Travis Lutter Vs. Rich Franklin. Personally I am sick of Matt Serra. He annoyed the hell out of me when he was a trainer on the Ultimate Fighter. I hope St-Pierre knocks him out and shuts him up.

On May 24 you will see BJ Penn Vs. Sean Sherk and Wanderlei Silva Vs. Keith Jardine. Both fights will be awesome. I am looking foward to this. Silva is a monster but so is Jardine. Should be a great fight.

Then on June 7th the match between Chuck Liddell Vs. Rashad Evans will happen. Theres some bad blood between these two and I am sure they will settle it in the Octogan.

The spring and summer for UFC looks awesome. I am looking foward to watching some of these fights. I cannot wait until August though because Brock Lesnar will take on UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman. I am hoping Lesnar will win one for us who doubted him the first time.

Bowling, Tigers, Raw and More

The next two Satrdays I bowl in the Grand Rapids City Tournament. This Saturday I bowl at Northfield Lanes at 1pm and next Saturday at Lowell Lanes at 11:30am. It's my favorite time of the year. Last year I won money so my expectations are really high going into this weekend. I am going to remain focus and calm but am excited at the same time.

So my Tigers have dropped the first two damn games of the season which is ridiculious considering the amount of talent they got. However, in baseball it comes down to one thing...pitching!!! The Tigers are going to be in for a long season if they don't get it together. I am hoping they get it together soon. It will be interesting to see if they win a game this week.

This past Monday, Raw was very emotional as Ric Flair gave his farewell speech and it brought back a lot of memories. The Horsemen came back, as well as other legends and current superstars from all three brands. Here is a raw clip of what happened off the air. It was truly awesome...Woooo!!


The last thing I want to say is I am really happy to see Dale Jr. doing so well this year. Ironic he's doing well and his teammates are struggling. Only time will tell if Hendrick Motorsports can get it together.
