2015 NFL Week 8 Predictions

In week 8, I guess 10 out of 14 games correctly. The four I guessed incorrectly were the Bills/Jaguars, Colts/Saints, Chiefs/Steelers and Chargers/Raiders. Here are my predictions for week 8.

I really feel like this weeks games are pretty much self explanatory. I don't see any marquee match ups but I am sure their will be a few upsets. So far I have guess 71 games correctly which is an average of about 10 a week. I don't think that's bad considering all the surprises this season. Fantasy Football Recap Week 7 (ESPN)

Let's get right down to it. I lost in both leagues again. This is not been a good year so far but I still feel like some of my players are doing awesome and that my team's record doesn't reflect how well they should be playing this year. With that being said here are the results of this week:

My bench had 18 points compared my opponents 28. If I would have started Austin over Baldwin we might have been tied. I am now 2-5 with 546 points scored. Considering only four teams make the playoffs in this league I believe you will see a much different roster next week. It's time to start selling. Results, Review, Recap of 2015 WWE Hell in a Cell

Tonight was the annual Hell in a Cell pay per view. It was shocking, brutal and WWE raised the bar a little bit tonight and they very much needed it. Before I begin with my thoughts here are the results:

-Preshow Match- Dolph Ziggler/Cesaro/Neville defeated Rusev/King Barrett/Sheamus
-Alberto Del Rio defeated John Cena to win the WWE United States Championship
-Hell in a Cell Match- Roman Reigns defeated Bray Wyatt
-The New Day defeated The Dudley Boys to retain the WWE Tag Team Championships
-Charlotte defeated Nikki Bella to retrain the WWE Divas Championship
-Seth Rollins defeated Kane to retain the WWE World Heavyweight Championship
-Kevin Owens defeated Ryback to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship
-Hell in a Cell Match: Brock Lesnar defeated The Undertaker.

I usually don't talk about the pre-show match much but all six guys in the pre-show match deserve so much better. They all should be competing for the World Title and Intercontinental Title. I can't wait to see how the Cesaro and Stardust feud will turn out since Stardust has been messing with Cesaro lately. I do not like how Kane and Seth Rollins ended. I believe this is the night that Sheamus should have cashed in. I believe Rollins should have won by DQ and then Kane should have destroyed him allowing Sheamus to cash in.

I am so happy Alberto Del Rio was kept a secret and he returned to beat Cena for the United States Championship. A lot of people were thinking Tyler Breeze, Dean Ambrose or Daniel Bryan as Cena's opponent. They kept Del Rio's return a secret is huge shock. Another shock is he was accompanied by Zeb Colter. All the matches were really good. They had good chemistry and storytelling. I really can't complain about tonight's matches.

The Main Event was the final meeting between The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar inside the Hell in a Cell. I knew going into the match that they needed to do a lot to top Reigns and Wyatt. Well they found a way because both men were a bloody mess. Lesnars matches are usually brutal but this may have topped it. They held nothing back and pulled out some pretty interesting stuff. In the end, Brock Lesnar won and it was fitting he used the low blow and the F5 to finish off The Undertaker. I have to say it was the best out of their three matches. The pay per view concluded with The Wyatt Family attacking The Undertaker which leads me to believe that Survivor Series is going to be huge. This years Survivor Series marks the 25th Anniversary of The Undertaker and it's going to be a night to remember.

Open Letter to NASCAR: Your Rules Suck

After watching the events of the race at Talladega I believe NASCAR needs to reevaluate some of their rules, regulations and how the handle driver misconduct. I want to start with what happened after second caution. Greg Biffle was way out in front with 5 laps left. Many wondered if he could make it on fuel. I am not one to be a conspiracy theorist but I believe NASCAR added more caution laps to make sure Biffle couldn't finish the race. I truly believe that NASCAR didn't want a Non Chase driver winning the race. Then you have the first attempt at a Green-White-Checkered where it never counted because cars were wrecking before the leaders crossed the finish line. The second attempt at the Green-White-Checkered finish is what I take issue with. Kevin Harvick and his crew knew the motor was gone. NASCAR should have forced Harvick off of the track because NASCAR requires a minimum speed to be on the track. Secondly, I don't care what anyone says Kevin Harvick purposely wrecked Trevor Bayne to maintain his position as the caution was thrown to end of the race. 

I think NASCAR needs to make two new rules. If you intentionally wreck another driver to bring out the caution to advance your position or cost another driver to lose their position then that driver should be automatically black flagged and removed from the race. If this behavior occurs during the Chase then the driver causing the wreck is removed from the Chase without warning. I take issue with what Kevin Harvick did today and Joey Logano did last week to Matt Kenseth. What Logano and Harvick did these last two weeks is no different then what Clint Bowyer did in 2013 to try and help Martin Truex Jr. advance into the Chase. Bowyer wrecked, and Brian Vickers was told by his crew chief to come to pit lane. This plan allowed Truex to get into the chase at first but NASCAR investigated it and Michael Waltrip Racing was fined and docked points. Ultimately Truex was removed from the Chase and released by Michael Waltrip Racing. NASCAR got it wrong by punishing the wrong guy. In my opinion, Vickers crew chief should have been suspended for the year and Bowyer should have been removed from the Chase. The last two weeks may have been different for Ryan Newman, Matt Kenseth, Denny Hamlin and Dale Earnhardt Jr. if Logano wouldn't have raced Kenseth dirty and Harvick wouldn't have intentionally wrecked Bayne at the conclusion of today's race. NASCAR fans aren't happy and in a sport that struggles financially and in the ratings, this is not good for the sport.

The second rule is that none of the elimination races should end under caution. The fact that NASCAR changed the rule on the amount of Green-White-Checkered finishes. It is usually three but they changed it to one. I am sorry but when there is a championship on the line then it should end under green. There is too much at stake for it to under a caution. Whoever races the hardest to the finish line should benefit, not whoever happens to be in first at the time of a caution. This is especially true at a race like Talladega when you could go from tenth to first. in a lap or two. I think most fans would agree that's how elimination races should be handled. As a fan I am not at all happy with what I've seen the last two weeks, but especially today. I think everything at then end was handled completely wrong and drivers aren't being held responsible for their actions. NASCAR needs to look at some serious overhaul in the rules and regulations if they want to keep their fans happy and keep their sport going. I for one could careless what happens in the Chase now because the Checkered Flag didn't happen under Green. Maybe if the rest of the races end under green the rest of the year I will be a little bit more excited. For now we have to deal with what is and to quote a famous man, "What it is, is what it is." 

The State of Pro Wrestling and Sports Entertainment: October 2015

On the October 21st edition of NXT I watched "Cowboy" James Storm make his debut against Danny Burch. As I watching the crowd react to him I began to ask myself, what's going on in pro wrestling?, where is pro wrestling going?, and what does the future hold for everyone who laces up a pair of boots? I realized it's been a long since I addressed my feelings on where the pro wrestling business is going. I figured I start from the bottom and work my way up the ladder on the comings and going of each promotion

Global Force Wrestling 

This is Jeff Jarrett's second attempt at a pro wrestling company. His first mistake was partnering with the sinking ship known as TNA Impact Wrestling and sharing talent just to get TV time. The second problem with GFW is there are no champions and no TV deal in place. Those two things should have been established long before the promotion launched. As we know from WCW's history, a wrestling promotion isn't worth two cents if you don't have a TV deal. The longer this goes on the shorter amount of time Jeff is going to be an owner. I hope to see some progress from GFW by the early part of 2016.

Things in TNA have not been the same since A.J. Styles left. They got worse when Samoa Joe departed and the sink started to ship when James Storm ended his three year run in the company. All TNA is now is performers that are either about WWE or WWE doesn't want back. The moment Spike TV dumped them and were forced to go to Destination America it's been a countdown for me on how long the company lasts. The only talents I care about in TNA are Bobby Roode, and Austin Aries. I would love to see both men end up in NXT at some point before they call it a career.

Lucha Underground

Even though Lucha Underground is not a full time promotion and it's not your typical presentation of pro wrestling it got a lot of rave reviews this past year. They announced last month that they would be back for season 2. Lucha Underground caught the attention of a lot of wrestling fans who were looking an alternative. It helped they had talent like Johnny Mundo(Morrison), Alberto El Patron(Del Rio), Chavo Guerrero, and a cast of well known wrestlers from various promotions in Mexico. The season finale of Lucha Underground was very epic and had everything a pro wrestling show should have. I look forward to season 2 of Lucha Underground.

Ring of Honor Wrestling

ROH World Champion:  Jay Lethal

World Tag Team Champions: The Kingdom (Matt Taven and Michael Bennett)

I don't care what anyone says about ROH because I believe it's where the best pro wrestlers go to get noticed. ROH has produced so much talent that went on to WWE. Those names include CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Cesaro, Seth Rollins, Sami Zayn, and Kevin Owens. All of them have become well known and have had success in WWE. The WWE will never come out and say it but I think they keep their on Ring of Honor. The five guys I would love to see go to NXT from ROH are Adam Cole, Jay Lethal, Moose, The Young Bucks, and ACH. Trust me if the whole roster could go to NXT I would take it but ROH is to great of a wrestling promotion to let that happen. Some people might consider them an Indie Promotion so if that's the case then they are the best Indie Promotion in the country. They have a great pool of talent and produce great wrestling shows that many people enjoy.

The difference between NXT and the main roster of WWE is creativity, aggressiveness and letting talents be themselves with their characters and wrestling styles. In the last year NXT has brought in Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe and Rhyno. They have had appearances by Jushin Thunder Liger, James Storm, Johnny Gargano, and Tommaso Ciampa. Triple H has one of the greatest minds in all of pro wrestling. He knows how to produce, develop, and make someone better. He has wrestlers working with wrestlers which is the best way to go. I am not going to insult anyone's intelligence but Triple H is smart for taking a little bit of what ROH, Evolve and PWG does and making it mainstream. Whether you've been on the Indie Scene or been through WWE's developmental system, you almost can't tell the difference. If Triple H keeps having the success he does, it's only a matter of time before NXT is just as big as Raw and Smackdown.

Money in the Bank Briefcase Holder: Sheamus

Over the last month the WWE has had the worst ratings it's seen since right before the Attitude Era. I've always said that because they have no competition they have no desire to do something great. The fact of the matter is, they are competing against other sports and entertainment shows and failing miserably. The problem is that the talent that the fans want to see highlighted are being the highlighted. For me personally guys that should be heavily in the spotlight are Kevin Owens, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Bray Wyatt, Dolph Ziggler, Cesaro, Neville, Bad News Barrett, Rusev, Stardust, and Sheamus. All of these guys should be competing for the World Title and Intercontinental Title. The problem is Vince needs to get out of his own mind and listen to the fans, not himself. You would have thought he would have learned from the Daniel Bryan and the Yes Movement! I think WWE will continue to be in this jam until they shake things up, push the envelope with their content on TV and get people who are passionate about wrestling writing your TV shows. Let's face it, Triple H is outdoing Vince McMahon at almost every aspect of the product. Maybe this will be a sign of things to come for the future when Vince McMahon finally steps down.

There is a lot of pro wrestling in this country. Some good, and some bad. Not everyone is going to be happy with the same promotion. There is one guy I haven't mentioned yet and I feel that whoever landed this superstar full time would have a huge edge on everyone else. This guy is such a great in ring competitor and has built a legacy for himself all around the world. Simply put, he's phenomenal!

I don't care what anyone has to say about AJ Styles. For me, he is now the Sting of this era. He's the last of the greats who has not been in WWE on a mainstream level. He's made a name for himself in Japan and splits his time between New Japan and Ring of Honor. He's his own brand, his own man, and he makes a great living doing what does. He is 38 years old and at some point I believe he will appear in a WWE ring. I've heard people say "AJ Styles doesn't need WWE, and WWE doesn't need AJ Styles." That statement couldn't be anymore false. I don't care who you are in the pro wrestling business. If you don't have aspirations to be on a Wrestlemania card, the night in wrestling that's more watched then any other night of the year there is something something seriously wrong with you. When Styles feels he's conquered Japan and there's nothing left for him to accomplish then I believe there is a good chance he will be in the WWE.

Pro wrestling has it's upsides about it but the problem is if WWE isn't having an upside then no one cares about the industry as much. WWE needs to be relevant and successful for the entire industry to be relevant and successful. Hopefully we will see pro wrestling reach historic heights once again.

2015 NFL Week 7 Predictions

In week 6, I had 5 incorrect picks and those games were Falcons/Saints, Bears/Lions, Titans/Dolphins, Cardinals/Steelers, and Ravens/49ers. On the year so far I have predicted 61 games correctly.  Here are my picks for week 7.

Seattle Seahawks over San Francisco 49ers

Just think just a few years ago these two teams were the two premier teams in the NFC. Now they are at the bottom of the barrel trying to find a way to win. I think the 49ers are lost but Seattle still has the talent to win games.

This is the game of the week in my opinion. The Patriots have been dominant and unstoppable but the Jets are off to a great start. The Patriots have one of the easiest schedules this year but the Jets could be the one team to put a loss on the Patriots record.

It's crazy to think that 18 teams are below .500 and 4 teams are right at .500 on the year so far. I feel like this is one of the more competitive years there's been in the NFL. It has been hard to make predictions this year because on any given week it seems like we see an upset or a result we didn't expect to see. When you're in Fantasy Football it can be an enjoyable season or it be a long season. In both of my leagues it's been long, drawn out and painful so far. I am 2-4 in both my leagues and this week I didn't have a chance in either of them. Here are the results from both of my leagues.

As of this week I have scored 503 points and three games back of first place. I have a good team but they just haven't gotten it together and the same could be said for my other league too.

My opponent had 27 points on their bench and like my other league it wouldn't have made a difference. My opponent's team was on fire and could not be stopped. I have scored 473 points so far and my team is three games back out of first in the division I am in. This week was a complete disaster and I need to rebound in my both of my leagues. 2015 NFL Week 6 Predictions

In week 5, I only got three games wrong and they were Chiefs/Bears, Ravens/Browns and Chargers/Steelers. So far I have predicted 51 games correct but this week there a lot of tough games. So here are my picks for week 6.

Atlanta Falcons over New Orleans Saints

Both of these teams absolutely suck. Two overrated Quarterbacks, two horrible teams, and two coaches who don't know what to do with their team. I just can sense the Lions not winning a game this season. It should be an interesting game to watch.

The Panthers first loss could happen but two big factors are weighing on this game. Marshawn Lynch is still questionable and Luke Kuechly is back for the Carolina Panthers. These are very important elements for each team but I think the Panthers will edge out the victory.

Tom Brady is going to get his revenge on the team that told the NFL that the footballs were deflated. I could see the Patriots doing the opposite of what the Lions are doing and that's not losing a game this season. I don't think Brady and Patriots have ever looked better which is scary for everyone else.

Fantasy Football Week 5 Recap (ESPN)

Last week I got talk about winning in both of my leagues but this week I get to talk about losing in both of my leagues. This week was not kind to me at all but that's how it goes when you're in fantasy football. You have players that go cold, and sometimes players go hot. In my case my top players were on their bye weeks and the ones I had starting didn't do me any favors. With that being said here are the results of my games this week.

My opponent had 33 points on their bench compared to my obvious 0. Either way you slice it they would have beaten me. I am now 2-3 in this league as well and have scored 395 points in the league. This is a tough league to be in because it has 16 teams and only four playoff spots. You have to maintain a good team and make good moves throughout the season to have a good shot at winning. Recap, Review, Results of NXT Takeover: Respect

Tonight was about respect. The last Takeover was in Brooklyn and that really set the bar high. I think Takeover Respect had it's ups and downs but NXT Takeover was as usual better then what the main roster usually puts out. Here are the results of NXT Takeover: Respect

The one thing I did not like is that it was two make shift tag teams were in the Dusty Rhodes Classic Finals. I get that star power in Samoa Joe, Finn Balor, Baron Corbin and Rhyno but Dash/Dawson and Jordan/Gable are two legitimate tag teams who personify the tag team wrestling Dusty Rhodes loved and appreciated. Joe and Balor are the winners of this tournament but it makes me wonder if they just used this tournament as a way to set a program between the two of them. It just doesn't make the tournament as prestigious as it should be.  I will say that all three tag team matches were great and had a lot of great storytelling to them. It was awesome to see the Rhodes Family present the trophy to Joe and Balor. The other thing I did not like but it's nothing too terribly bad is Tyler Breeze. Tyler Breeze has pretty much done everything in NXT  so if they are not going to give Tyler Breeze the NXT Title then he needs to be moved up. I understand they are using him to get new and special talent over but there are plenty of people who can do that. What an incredible match he and Crews had but it's time they move "Prince Pretty" up to the main roster.

The Main Event was the 30 Minute Iron Woman match between Sasha Banks and Bayley. I could tell before the bell rung that a lot of emotion running both women. There was a lot of pressure, a lot of hype and a lot to live up to. Sasha appeared to be hurt in the beginning of the match but the storytelling and psychology of the match did not let up. Both women put their best effort and left it all in the ring. The crowd was on fire for this match and I am sure everyone else was. I really think this match is easily a match of the year candidate. You know you have earned the respect of your peers when the entire locker room comes out after your match and applauds you. That was a great moment. I really am excited for the future of women's wrestling and tonight proved why. NXT is why I love being a wrestling fan and why I am excited for the future of the WWE.  Tonight the past, present, and future of NXT earned everyone's respect

2015 NFL Week 5 Predictions

In week 4 I predicted 9 games right. The games I predicted wrong Raven/Steelers, Bills/Giants, Raiders/Bears, Eagles/Redskins, Cardinals/Rams and Cowboys/Saints. It was definitely a weird week as there were some games that seemed like obvious choices to pick. Week 5 doesn't get any easier so with that being said here are my predictions for week 5:

Indianapolis Colts over Houston Texans

Atlanta Falcons over Washington Redskins

Buffalo Bills over Tennessee Titans

Even though I am picking the Bills to win I will say that if they have a ton of penalities like they did in week 4 then Marcus Mariota will pick apart the Bills and their defense. I look for the Bills to be motivated, fired up and a little less stupid this week. It should be a great to watch.

Kansas City Chiefs over Chicago Bears

The Chiefs are a better team then their record shows. They desperately need a win this week to try and compete in their division. 

Cincinnati Bengals over Seattle Seahawks

One player doesn't make the entire team but it does make a difference. Even though I picked the Bengals to win the game the defense of Seattle is stronger now that Kam Chancellor is back. I look for a close and competitive game.  

Baltimore Ravens over Cleveland Browns

Green Bay Packers over St. Louis Rams

Spoiler alert, the Rams are competing and knocking off undefeated teams. Green Bay is the obvious choice this week but the Rams have a way of staying in games and making them really interesting. My advice to the Packers would be don't let your guard down and take this game lightly. Just ask the Arizona Cardinals.

Philadelphia Eagles over New Orleans Saints

Tampa Bay Buccaneers over Jacksonville Jaguars

Arizona Cardinals over Detroit Lions 

New England Patriots over Dallas Cowboys

Denver Broncos over Oakland Raiders

Fantasy Football Week 4 Recap (ESPN)

It is always a great week when you can win in both of your fantasy leagues. You either have to be really good or really lucky. I will let you the readers at home decide. Here are the results of my leagues this week

My opponent had 69 points and if they would have put all their players that were on the the bench they would have easily beaten me. The one thing about fantasy football is you can never really go off what the projections say. It's one of those things where you have to go on your gut feeling and who is on a hot streak. ESPN's projections are very flawed and sometimes don't make any sense to me. I am 2-2 in this league and so far have scored 360 points in the league. That's the fifth most out of twelve teams.

My opponent started the best available players he could. My only mistake was starting Dunbar over Spiller. If I would have started CJ Spiller I would have had over 100 points for the week. I am now 2-2 and have scored 322 points in this league. 

I started off slow in both of my leagues but I have picked up some steam and hope to keep the momentum going. Keep checking back each week to see how I do in Fantasy Football and let me know how you're doing in yours.

Review, Recap, Results of WWE Network Special at Madison Square Garden

Tonight was a special presentation of the WWE Network. The special took place at Madison Square Garden in New York City and what a great venue to hold a Network Special. The crowd was pretty red hot and it the crowd can make or break a show. Here are the results of the show.

-Dolph Ziggler/Randy Orton defeated Rusev/Sheamus
-Neville defeated Stardust
-Team Bella defeated Paige/Becky Lynch/Charlotte
-Kevin Owens defeated Chris Jericho to retain the Intercontinental Championship
-The Dudley Boyz defeated The New Day by Disqualification
-Brock Lesnar defeated the Big Show
-John Cena defeated Seth Rollins in a Steel Cage Match to retain the WWE United States Championship

I am glad that they put two feuds together for a tag match. Ziggler/Rusev and Orton/Sheamus is really getting old and it's time all four of them got into new programs with new people. It was a great match that opened the show. I know it was technically suppose to be a "house show" but they should have treated as a different show. I didn't like that Paige was teamed with Charlotte and Becky because it's not playing out what we see on TV. Charlotte and Becky Lynch turning on Paige was a repeat of what we saw on TV before when Paige did it to them. I also thought the Brock Lesnar-Big Show match was a joke and complete waste of time considering that it's the only match that had hype or buildup.

Even though there was no buildup I really enjoyed the match between Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens. I am so glad we have a great worker as Intercontinental Champion again. I hope Owens brings some prestige and respect back to that title. It helps when guys like Chris Jericho want to work with you and put you over. It was also pretty cool that Chris Jericho got to wrestle on the 25th Anniversary of his debut in the pro wrestling business.

The Main Event was John Cena and Seth Rollins in a Steel Cage match. It was a good match for what it was. These two guys put on a great main event for MSG and held nothing back. I enjoyed the little stare down between John Cena and Jon Stewart before Cena entered the cage. I am really enjoying Kane's character right now. A lot of people may not like it but I think it's awesome. It's probably the best work he's done since he teamed with Daniel Bryan as part of Team Hell No.

For a WWE Network special I was very disappointed. Their was no buildup, no surprises and the matches were very predictable. They shouldn't be using these special to shock and awe the fans into purchasing their product. It was what I thought it would be and that is a glorified house show. I'd give the show a 5 out of 10. It wasn't great but it wasn't horrible. I hope in the future that WWE will use these Network specials to do something great and not so predictable.
