NFL Week 3 Recap
Hallelujah, Praise the Lord, Alert the media...The Detroit Lions have a won a football game. They beat the Washington Redskins 19-14 on Sunday and made it look easy because the Redskins didn't really show up. It was nice to see them end their losing streak and get a win under their belt. How about Brett Favre and his last second heroics to beat the 49ers. That was one of the best games of the week. There are still seven undefeated teams in the league right now. They are the Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, New York Jets, New York Giants, Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Ravens and the team that I thought would fall apart, the Denver Broncos. This coming week the New York Jets are at the New Orleans Saints and one team is going home with their first lost. Cincinnati has came out of nowhere. They beat Green Bay and Pittsburgh back to back which tells me Cincinnati better not be ignored. Then you have the Cleveland Browns who can barely score any points. I honestly think the Browns could be the next 0-16 team in football. They are that horrible right now.
Speaking of horrible. My fantasy football week wasn't the greatest either. In my Yahoo League this is how shaped out.
Hollywood's Rejects 160.77
Has Steve Smith 2 271.06
This puts me at 1-2 for the year. My highest point earner was Wide Receiver from the Baltimore Ravens Derrick Mason.
In my ESPN league it wasn't much better.
Greg's Mustache (sdsu)(2-0-1)78
Hollywoods World of Sports (HWOO)(0-3) 68
My highest point earner was New York Jets Quarterback Mark Sanchez who is quickly becoming one of my favorite players to watch. In terms of my predictions I went 9 for 16. Another rough week of football but hopefully I'll rebound this week. Speaking of rebounding the Panthers have a bye week this coming week and I hope by then they have a new Quarterback. This thing with Jake is getting ridiculous. The guy is not a top-tier QB and he never was. He just had a couple of good years. I would also like to add that I really enjoy Rex Ryan's press conferences. He tells it how it is and holds nothing back. As I said before the Jets are becoming one of my favorite teams and it's not because they are 3-0. I have always liked Mark Sanchez even when he played for USC and Rex Ryan is just a cool coach who speaks what he thinks. The Monday Night game this next week could be the most watched Monday Night Game in a long time. The Green Bay Packers go to Minnesota to take on the Vikings. This is not as monumental as the Minnesota going to Green Bay but it will be the first time that Favre plays against the Packers. This is going to be an intense game with a lot of tension in it. Just wait when they play in Green Bay later on in the season.
Well that's it for week. I will have my predictions for week 4 tomorrow. It should be an interesting week. A lot of tough match ups once again. It should be a great week 4.

Celebrating 10 Years of Smackdown
This Friday Night the WWE will be celebrating 10 years of Smackdown. It's the 10th anniversary of Smackdown. Smackdown has seen a lot of great moments in it's 10 year history. Some of the moments I recall are seeing Rhyno hitting the gore on Chris Jericho and Jericho went right through the center screen. I'll never forget the Eddie Guerrero tribute on Smackdown and how emotional that was. A lot of other great things happened on Smackdown as well. Vince McMahon won the WWE Championship by defeating Triple H. It was the first of many titles to come for Mr. McMahon. Smackdown was also the first sporting or entertainment event to take place after the attacks on 9/11. This was by far the best Smackdown in the history of the 10 year show. I remember when it aired that night. It was one of the most emotional nights that wrestling has ever seen. This was the beginning of Tribute to the Troops as well. On Christmas night in 2003 Christmas from Baghdad was aired on Smackdown. It aired on Smackdown the following year as well. Smackdown has seen many great moments but my favorite took place on July 4th, 2002. It was the night Hulk Hogan and Edge won the World Tag Team Championships. It was really awesome and something I enjoyed. The Hulkster came out to Real American that night and made it an awesome night that I won't soon forget.
Now on to this Friday Night. This week Smackdown is going to have a huge eight man tag for it's main event. It will be Shawn Michaels/Triple H/John Cena/Undertaker vs. Cody Rhodes/Ted Dibiase/Randy Orton/CM Punk. If that's not huge I don't know what it. Also Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson will also be making a special video appearance as well. Tune in this Friday night at 8pm to celebrate 10 years of Smackdown....If you smell what the WWE is cookin'

Lisa Leslie Retires
This past Saturday Lisa Leslie played her final game in basketball. She a pioneer in women's basketball becoming professional. In 1997, when the WNBA was formed she was drafted by the Los Angeles Sparks and played there her whole career. Her rise to fame didn't start there. She scored 101 points in high school one time in which the other team eventually forfeited. She then went to USC where things only got better for her. She accomplished a lot in her time in the WNBA including:
Eight time WNBA All-Star (1999–2003, 2005, 2006, 2009)
Three time WNBA MVP (2001, 2004, 2006)
First player to dunk in a WNBA game
First WNBA player to reach the 6,000 point plateau
First player ever to garner regular season, WNBA Finals and All-Star Game MVP awards in the same season.
Four time Olympic gold medalist (1996, 2000, 2004, 2008)
This lady has done it all and now she has pass the torch to all future women who want to play basketball. She has also passed the torch to teammate Candace Parker who will probably break all the records Lisa has. Lisa Leslie did a lot for women's basketball and she was definitely to poster child for the sport. There is no doubt in my mind she will be in the basketball hall of fame someday. What a career and what a legacy that Lisa Leslie left on the game of women's basketball. Her contributions will never be forgotten.

Another Exciting Week in College Football
What another crazy week in College Football that had a lot of upsets. It all started Thursday when South Carolina upset #4 Mississippi. It was a great game between two of the SEC teams. Oregon crushed #3 California 42-3. Iowa knocked off #5 Penn St. and #11 Virginia Tech defeated #9 Miami (FL). The Rankings should definitely be interesting this next week. Somethings that were not surprising was Texas blowing out UTEP. The top ranked Florida Gators dominated the Kentucky Wildcats but it came with a price. Tim Tebow was seriously hurt in the game and stayed in the hospital overnight. There is no word yet on his condition and if he'll play next week.
The Michigan Wolverines go to 4-0 as they squeak by Indiana. Good to see U of M off to a fast 4-0 start. If they keep it up they might see a decent bowl game this year. Michigan State on the other hand is not doing so great. They are 1-3 and it's not going to get any better. Next week the Spartans and Wolverines collide in East Lansing. I will definitely be watching that game to see what happens. Not much else that I can think of except that the Notre Dame and Purdue game was really exciting to watch. Notre Dame came back late to beat the Boilermakers. Like I said it will be interesting to see what the top 25 is this coming week because a lot of teams got upset and it may shift the balance of power so to speak.

One Week Left of Regular Season Baseball
Next Sunday dreams will be made and then will be broken as the regular season ends and the race to to the World Series begins. There are some teams that have already run away right into the playoffs and there are some teams clinging as hard as they can to stay alive. In the American League it's an all to familiar scene. In the AL East the New York Yankees have a playoff spot and the division wrapped up. They are the AL East Champions of 2009. They have a lot of momentum going into the playoffs. The AL West has the Los Angeles Angels with a 6.5 game lead and a spot in the playoffs. They would have to lose every game and Texas would have to win every game next week for things to change. The Angels are looking good as they always do. In the AL Central the Tigers are clinging to their 2 game lead. They head into a four game series with the Minnesota Twins on Monday and that could determine who goes into the playoffs and who goes home. And in the AL Wildcard it is no surprise. The Boston Red Sox are back as well so it should be interesting to see if New York and Boston end up playing each other in the post season. If they do I know it will be a great series. Their games against each other are always intense.
The National League looks really tough this year. In the NL East it's Philadelphia with a 5.5 game lead over the Atlanta Braves. Philly should make it in unless they fall completely apart. In the NL West no surprises really. The Los Angeles Dodgers are leading by 5.5 games over the Rockies. In the NL Central the Cardinals have it locked down as they lead by eight games. And in the NL Wildcard the Rockies have a 3 game lead over the Atlanta Braves. The Braves are still fighting and I actually wouldn't mind seeing them get back to the postseason. My final prediction for the year was at the All-Star break when I said the Los Angeles Dodgers will be in the World Series with the New York Yankees. I am still sticking to that prediction because even though the Dodgers have struggled down the stretch they will get it together in the playoffs. As far as the Yankees go, they have been hot for awhile now and I don't see anyone who can stop them right now. The playoffs begin Oct. 7th and I for one cannot wait until then.

Evolution of Hollywood's World of Sports
This post/piece of writing marks the 500th post/piece of writing I have had on Hollywood's World of Sports. I remember when I started this blog five years ago and it was all about wrestling to me at the time. I remember that I use to just post about wrestling events and write about my thoughts on pro wrestling. The blog was just called Hollywood's World and my motto was, "Controversial Thoughts About the Wrestling World Around Us." I use to talk a lot of trash and never talked about facts and never cared about what I was writing. Then it all changed.
In 2006, I was inspired by the Detroit Tigers World Series run and I decided to write about sports. I then changed the name Hollywood's World of Sports and my motto changed a little to "Controversial Thoughts About the Sports World Around Us." It was last year that I really started getting serious about being a writer and knew it was something I wanted to do. Earlier this year Hollywood's World of Sport got a huge boost by getting it's own logo, and new motto. My motto now is "Controversy Doesn't Come Without Criticism." I really have to thank Jason Wise, of I2I Designs who created my logo and banner. Without that I wouldn't have the unique look and I wouldn't have the attitude about marketing and advertising the website as I do. This year has been a landmark year for me and the website. I set a goal for 300 posts for the year and I have already surpassed that mark.
My goal is to make my readers think and get them into debate mode. I love talking and debating sports with people. That's one thing that has changed about me over the last year. My passion is no longer just wrestling. My passion is professional sports and the athletes involved in them. I like to focus on issues, accomplishments, controversies and the stories behind all of them. Yes box scores, stats, wins and loses are important but they are not everything in sports.
I do have future goals for Hollywood's World of Sports. I hope to continue to write about all the major sports including Hockey. Hockey is the biggest thing I have been lacking on the website and I hope to cover Hockey more this coming season. I also would like to have more interaction with my readers. I want to get them more involved in what I talk about. My ultimate dream someday is to be a sports writer or have my own radio show. I love sports that much. I'll admit I don't know every player and every stat but I am learning and doing more research.
I would like to thank all those who have supported me and regularly read the website. To anyone who has ever came to Hollywood's World of Sports, I hope you enjoy what you have read and hope you spread the word for me. To my fellow employees at Directions in Research, my family, friend and neighbors. Thank you for supporting my dream and supporting Hollywood's World of Sports. I will never forget any of you. Also thank you God for giving the ability of being a writer and sharing my thoughts and opinions with the world. Again, thank you all very much and God Bless.

Jake Peavy is Back
Tonight I watched the Tigers game against the White Sox and I must say that Jake Peavy was impressive tonight. He hasn't pitched in a long time and to see him dominate Tigers hitting tonight was actually great to see because he was a great pitcher in San Diego but never had a winning team to back him up. Now that he is with the White Sox he might have a chance at winning a World Series. I believe that the White Sox will be back in the hunt next year. They will have Peavy, Buehrle and a healthy Freddy Garcia. To me that's three pitchers I would not want to face three nights in a row.
If you ask me if it weren't for injuries the White Sox would be at the top of the AL Central this year blazing through Detroit and Minnesota. Next year with good pitching and a good lineup they will be the team to beat in the AL Central. Like I said they were injury plagued this year and that's why they have struggled. It's great to see Jake Peavy back pitching once again.

UFC 2009 Undisputed Review
Yesterday I finally got play more then one fight on UFC's Undisputed and I have to tell you it was freaking sick. I went to Play n Trade in Grand Rapids Michigan to go play the game because they are cool there and let you play any game you want. Anyways back to the UFC game. I played four fights in different weight classes. I played as Brock Lesnar against Antonio Nogueira. Then for my second match I played as Forrest Griffin vs. Michael Bisping. I think this would be a great match if they fought and that's why I had the match on the game. Bisping and Griffin are both tough dudes and I think people would love to see a fight between them. In the third match I played as Diego Sanchez vs BJ Penn. I cannot stand BJ Penn and I hope what I did on the game happens at UFC 107 and that would be Sanchez choking Penn out. In my final match I played as Rich Franklin against Chris Leben because Rich and Chris are two of my favorite guys in the UFC and sometimes don't get a lot of credit. This game is dead accurate to how UFC really his. The graphics are phenomenal as well as the actual presentation. Joe Rogan, Mike Goldberg and Bruce Buffer all sound exactly like they do on TV. Dana White is also in the game to and they got his personality accurate too. The striking and grappling in the game is surreal that you almost feel like you're in the fight yourself. I'll say this much right now when I get a PS3 this will be first game I buy because this game is just absolutely awesome. If you haven't played it yet go out and rent it, buy it or go to Play N Trade on the East Beltline in Grand Rapids and go play it. As Bruce Buffer would say "It's time!" Well it's time for all of you to go out and play this game.

The Conspiracy Theory
I was talking with a few friends last night at work and they were talking about how the Chicago White Sox let the Minnesota Twins sweep them to get closer to the Detroit Tigers. The theory was is that White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen hates the Tigers so he let the Twins beat him and when he comes to Detroit he's going to play them tough. So this leads me to asking the question. Do mangers have personal vendetta's against other teams and will they purposely lose to a team and help them in the standings? It sounds far fetched but this weekend the White Sox play the Tigers and we will see how hard they play against Detroit because they didn't play to hard against Minnesota. I also find it funny that Cleveland got swept by Detroit because Cleveland always plays them tough even when they don't have superstar talent. So could Cleveland be helping Detroit? If you think about it if Cleveland would have somehow swept them the Twins and Tigers would be in a tie right in the division.
Like I said it sounds far fetched that teams would help other teams and play tough against one team and not another. However anything is possible in sports and you really never know what these crazy managers are thinking now these days either. I could Ozzie Guillen doing something like that but I think it's just people worried that Detroit won't make the playoffs. Should be an interesting next week of baseball. The last week is finally here and the playoffs begin Oct. 7th and I will be covering the playoffs as well. Stay tuned to see if Detroit makes the playoffs as well as the Colorado Rockies and Atlanta Braves. This last week of baseball is going to be fun to watch.

Davenport Lacrosse Schedule for 2009-2010
Well it's that time of year again when Lacrosse at Davenport begins. I got to tell you that going to a Lacrosse game earlier this year opened my eyes up to the fact that there are a lot of competitive sports out there that don't get the attention they deserve. I really enjoy watching the Davenport team play because they play hard. It helps I have a family member on the team to explain stuff to me because I am still trying to figure out the rules and such. I plan on going to as many games as possible this year so I can start to write about lacrosse more. Here is the schedule for the Davenport Panthers for 2009-2010.

The New Jersey Nets Will be a Threat
The New Jersey Nets could now be the team to beat in the East within 4-5 years. Why of all sudden are they going to be big? The richest man in Russia has agreed to buy 80 percent of team. His estimated worth is about $9.5 billion. His name is Mikhail Prokhorov and I know if he has way he'll get the best talent possible. He is buying the Nets for approximately 200 million dollars. Sounds like a lot of money doesn't it? To him it's probably a small price to pay for being involved in a sport that has become a global phenomenon thanks to players like Yao Ming from China and Prokhorov's fellow countrymen Andrei Kirilenko.
New Jersey is not really known for being a big-market team but because of all the money coming into ownership it will become a big market team. It's also close enough to New York where players could get some sponsorship deals. I don't think they will contend this year because the deal hasn't officially happened yet and when it does it will be to late to pick up any real good free agents. In the 2010-11 season they will be a team to contend with and will probably be one of the top five teams in the NBA. This guy will get the best talent he can find and pay them as much as it takes to win a championship. As for who might coach this team? Lawrence Frank has been there for awhile now but you never know what new ownership might do. I cannot wait to see what this new owner does with team. I think some big things are about to happen in New Jersey. Stay tuned for more because a lot of things are going to happen.

Kimbo Slice vs. Roy Nelson Next Week
Well we now know next week that Kimbo Slice will take on Roy Nelson. They are saying that it could be the biggest fight in the history of the Ultimate Fighter. I don't know about that statement. I thought Stephan Bonnar vs. Forrest Griffin was a pretty big deal. Maybe they are saying the biggest fight to take place before the finale. With that being said, I can agree with that statement because if you think about it Kimbo is so popular and Roy is a veteran even though in my opinion he's only fought one credible opponent. That one credible opponent would be Andrei Arlovski, and he got knocked out by Arlovski. Kimbo maybe popular but he really hasn't fought anyone credible except for one guy. Tank Abbot does not count because Tank was way over the hill already. The guy he lost to was former UFC fighter Seth Petruzelli. When he lost on national television I think that helped him because he knew he had to be more disciplined then what he was.
I will definitely be watching the Ultimate Fighter next week to see what happens. I really want Kimbo Slice to win this fight to shut up all those who doubt him. I've been a Kimbo fan ever since he emerged as a street fighter. I will admit though I would probably be running the other way if I ever met him. The guy absolutely scares the living crap out of me but from what I have seen on the show so far he is not that bad of a guy. My prediction is this once Kimbo Slice has become more disciplined and has more of a strategy going into fights he will become the most dangerous in MMA and in the UFC if he is there. Kimbo Slice draws ratings and makes money so if the UFC was smart they would keep him on regardless of what happens on the Ultimate Fighter. Tune in next Wednesday at 10pm on Spike TV to see who wins this monumental fight.

Rampage Jackson quits UFC
I couldn't believe it when I heard this morning that Quinton "Rampage" Jackson has quit the UFC and it sounds like fighting all together. He and Dana White had been going back and forth the last few weeks because he backed out of a major fight for UFC 107 with Rashad Evans to make the new A-Team movie. He also called the fans dumb ass's who don't pay his or help put his kids through college. That maybe the stupidest thing I have ever heard in my life. The fans are the ones who keep UFC going and pay to watch you fight so I don't even want to hear it. It's too bad for the UFC because now they have to keep his face on TV every week for another two months until the Ultimate Fighter is over.
This isn't the first time Rampage has had troubles. Don't forget last year he got arrested and had a lot of problems after his loss to Forrest Griffin. I personally have never had a problem with Rampage Jackson but I think losing him is not going to be that big of a deal because someone else will come along and step up where he should have been. I can't believe the guy who knocked out Chuck Liddell, beat Dan Henderson, Wanderlei Silva, and Keith Jardine has decided to call it quits.
If you ask me though he won't be retired long because he really has no other way to pay his bills. When he starts missing the spotlight and the money he will comeback. I will give him 6-12 months and he will be back. Have a good vacation Rampage.

NFL Week 2 Recap
What a wild week in week 2 of the NFL Season. There were a lot of close game this week and by that I mean there were nine games decided by seven points or less. Some upsets that happen were Cincinnati over Green Bay, Houston over Tennessee and Chicago over Pittsburgh. I don't consider New York over New England an upset because New England is not the team they once were. They lost 50 years experience on defense and the offensive line does not look good at all. Jake Delhomme played a little bit better but he threw an interception when it counted the most. In my opinion Jake Delhomme, John Fox and GM Matt Hurley are all on the hot seat right now. If they don't get it together then they will all be gone at the end of the season.
The Lions played great in the first half against Minnesota but then fell apart the second half of the game. That is the typical Lions team. They don't know how to finish and therefore they continue to lose. How about them Cowboys losing to New York at the home opener of their new stadium. Jerry Jones must be thrilled with team he has out their this year. The new Cowboy Stadium is awesome though and they did set an attendance record for the highest attended NFL game in history. The Monday Night game last night was a thriller and even though Miami has started out 0-2 I still think they have a chance to be a good team this year and make the playoffs.
In fantasy football this I did not do so well. In my Yahoo league it looks like this
Hollywood's Rejects 196.96
To Spite Kevin... 2 245.15
My highest point earner was Drew Brees for the second week in a row. Keep it going Drew, you make me proud. I do have to add that New Orleans pretty much killed Philly this week. Not to make excuses but they didn't have McNabb or Vick. They did however have Jeff Garcia who got no playing time at all this week. It should be interesting to see what happens this week with Garcia there and Vick eligible to play. A lot of questions surrounding Philly for this coming weekend.
In my ESPN Fantasy League here is how it went down
Hollywoods World of Sports (HWOO)(0-2) 75
Louisville Chargers (TREG) (1-1) 85
Not a very good start for me this season but on a good note Willis McGahee was my highest point earner again for the second week as well. I am still trying to make so moves to make my team a little bit better so time will only tell if these moves pull off. I also went 8 for 16 in my predictions this week which I am not proud of but there were a lot of close games so I am not upset over it.
In off field new Plaxico Burress was sentenced to two years in prison and will start serving his sentence immediately. One has to wonder if he'll ever play again. I am also wondering if Marvin Harrison will ever play again as well. Unfortunately for those two life goes on and their former teams are moving on without them.
I'll be back with my predictions tomorrow for week 3. Another week of tough match ups and at this point you never know who is going to show up on any given week. Check back tomorrow for more.

AJ Styles win the TNA Heavyweight Championship.
Now this is what I call a pay-per-view. I have to say that for this month atleast, TNA put on a better pay-per-view the then WWE. I never thought I would say that but I am. No Surrender had some great matches beginning with Samoa Joe vs. Daniels for the X Division Title. A great match back and forth but Samoa Joe ended up getting the victory. Then you had D'Angelo Dinero (Elijah Burke) vs. Suicide in a Falls Count Anywhere match. Suicide took some crazy chances in this match with one costing him the match. Dinero wins and is being pushed in TNA so far. Up next was a match I was a little skeptical about between Kevin Nash and Abyss. It ended being a pretty decent match with some interference from Mick Foley and Dr. Stevie. My favorite match of the night was TNA Lethal Lockdown with Beer Money, Inc vs. Team 3D vs. Scott Steiner & Booker T vs. The British Invasion. This match was chaotic, bloody and brutal. Even though it was every team for themselves Team 3D and Beer Money worked together as well as World Elite and the Main Event Mafia. Beer Money Inc won the match and used a beer bottle along the way to do so. Up next is was the pay-per-view debut of Bobby Lashley who had a really match with Rhino. Lashley proved that he was going to be a force in TNA and it would surprise me if he eventually won the TNA Heavyweight Title. The finally the main event of the evening was Kurt Angle vs. Sting vs. AJ Styles vs. Matt Morgan for the TNA Heavyweight Championship. What a great match which saw AJ Styles pin Kurt Angle with some help from Sting to become the new TNA Heavyweight Champion. All I can say is it's about time because AJ is the face of TNA and is still pretty young. Kurt Angle is a great wrestler but his body is starting to age and I honestly don't think he can keep going the way he has been going for so long. Great to see AJ become the new TNA Heavyweight Champion. Now let's see how WWE counters that at Hell in a Cell which is only two weeks away. Stay tuned because anything can happen in wrestling.

A Great Night for a Fight
Last night their were to types of fighting on. You had MMA and boxing and in my opinion they were both great. Lets start with the boxing side of it. Yes Floyd Mayweather won but he did not knock out Juan Marquez. It actually went the distance and Mayweather won by unanimous decision. To me it doesn't matter who Mayweather fights because until he fights Manny Pacquiao no one cares who he beats. When he finally squares off against Manny and actually beat him it will only be then that Mayweather will have some of my respect as well as others who really don't like him.
Then you had UFC 103 which had some good fights but main even almost made it a flop. Junior dos Santos and Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic went at it pretty good until Mirko got hit in the eye and forfeited the fight. My favorite part of the night was watching Josh Koscheck beat down Frank Trigg. I have never liked Trigg and as far as I am concerned he can go back to TNA and be Kurt Angle's twin. Tyson Griffin vs. Hermes Franca was a really good fight too and Griffin looked good against a guy that everyone has a hard team beating. It was definitely the second best fight of the night. Then Vitor Belfort made his return to the UFC in very convincing fashion by taking out Rich Franklin in the first round. It was good to see Belfort return but that was not a main event match. I've come to realize that Rich Franklin does not draw pay-per-view buys. UFC 104 is next month and the main event happens to be A Light Heavyweight Championship bout between Lyoto Machida (c) against Mauricio Rua.
I enjoyed all the fighting that did take place last night. I do think that boxing had more viewers and more pay-per-view buys. I'll be curious to see what the numbers are when they come out. For now though UFC is still the dominant sport and they have some great PPV's coming up. Keep checking back for further updates on UFC event.s

Another Classic College Football Game and More
Last week Notre Dame was on the losing end of a great and close football game. This week the roles were reversed. Notre Dame battled MSU in a great game today that helped Notre Dame get back on track and MSU possible on a downward spiral. Even though I am not a Notre Dame fan it is great to see the historical school play in some meaningful and close games. The program hasn't done all that great in years so its nice to see them be competitive.
I saw some surprising things this afternoon in football. For example Washington upsetting USC and Oklahoma dominating again without my favorite Quarterback Sam Bradford. You also had Florida who only score 23 points in their win against Tennessee. Florida St absolutely crushed the overrated BYU team. Yes I said it, I think BYU is overrated. So they beat Oklahoma by three points. One win doesn't prove anything. Then again neither does one loss but that doesn't mean BYU is going to live up to the hype. In SEC play Georgia beat Arkansas in one thrilling game that saw a lot of turnovers and penalties. For some reason when I turned the TV on tonight I had a feeling I wouldn't regret watching this game. Georgia wins the game 52-41. In another surprising game Texas barely escapes against Texas Tech. What a battle between these two teams as well. Another great weekend for College Football game.
Finally I would just like to say 3-0, because that's what Michigan is at the end of the day today. All the doubters said they wouldn't beat Notre Dame or even have a winning record this year. If they keep up this pace they will actually play in a good bowl game this year. Stay tuned for next week because their are a few good match ups again including:
No. 24 North Carolina at No. 14 Georgia Tech
Texas Tech at No. 21 Houston
Notre Dame at Purdue
No. 20 Miami (FL) at No. 13 Virginia Tech
Michigan State at Wisconsin
I'll be back next with some more College Football and hopefully we will continue to see some exciting games this year.

Shaq VS. Concludes
So this past week was the final week of Shaq versus and I must say the last two weeks have been interesting and different. Two weeks ago Shaq challenged boxing legend Oscar de la Hoya to a boxing match. The handicap was that there would four two-minute rounds with a one-minute fifth round. Also both men wore protective headgear. In the end it was Oscar de la Hoya winning by unanimous decision. This was one the funnier things I've seen because of the size comparison. It made for great TV.
Then this week Shaq challenged swimming icon and Olympic gold medal Michael Phelps to a series of races. There were three races and Shaq had handicaps in all three. In race one Shaq only had swim 25m while Phelps had to swim 50m with a 5s. head start. In race two Shaq had some help from Dana Vollmer, Rebecca Soni, and Ariana Kukors and they all saw 50m each of a 200m medley relay, while Phelps had to swim by himself for the 200m medley. And in race three Shaq only had to swim 50m while Phelps had to swim 75m. Michael Phelps won two out of three races proving why he is great and why he is the face of swimming as we know it.
I really enjoyed this six week series. I really enjoy the concept of someone trying to compete in other sports after being so successful in his own sport. I hope next summer we Shaq versus once again and this time have him compete in Golf, Mixed-Martial arts and Tennis. That would be so cool. Good luck to Shaq and the Cleveland Cavaliers this year. The NBA season is not that far away.

Bully Beatdown is Brilliant
I've been debating for some time if I was going to write about this or not but considering it has MMA fighters fighting in an octagon it would be appropriate. Bully Beatdown is a simple concept. It's where a person or a group of people are sick of being bullied and they decide to nominate the bully to take on an MMA fighter. Once the bullies are nominated host and former MMA fighter Jason "Mayhem" Miller challenges them. The bully also has a chance to win $10,000 if he can avoid being taken down or knocked in two rounds. Each fight consists of two three-minute rounds. The first round consists of grappling with no striking allowed. Each time the bully taps out $1,000 goes to the victim. The second fight consists of striking. If you get knocked out or can't defend yourself the bully loses the entire $5,000 which ends up going to the victim.
The show has had fighters including Jake Shields, Andrei Arlovski Conor Heun, and Michael Westbrook. The most any bully has every walked away with was the full amount of $10,000. After watching this show I wish it would have been on when I was in high school because I would have nominated like five people that I felt should have gotten the crap kicked out of them. This is so awesome. It's great watching these bullies get what they absolutely deserve. I wonder how many of them actually change their ways once they get roughed up? So if you ever want to watch the show it airs on MTV and MTV2. Mark my words you'll get a good laugh out of it.

Disc Golfing 101
This afternoon I decided to try a new sport and that would be Disc Golfing. I went to go get lessons and tips from buddy and disc golf enthusiast Matt. We met up at Brewer Park in Grand Rapids Michigan. We then proceed to play the White course. Some of the things I learned about were technique, motions and keys on how to have a good game. Whats great about Brewer Park is all the holes are Par 3 so it makes it easy to keep score. I shot a 43 on the White course which put me at 16 over. I didn't think that was to bad and neither did Matt.
We then proceeded to play the Blue course and by then I good feel myself getting into a rhythm and making better throws. The one thing I noticed that I needed to improve on was arm level. You have to keep your arm as level as possible and watch your wrist movement as well. If you can get these two things down you can be pretty successful. I shot a 36 on the Blue course which put me at 9 over over par.
Then Matt and I were joined by Joel and Mindy, who also are disc golfing regulars. I then decided that I would like to play the White course again to see if I could improve my score. I really started getting into it at this point and start having some better throws. I have to add though that the first two holes on the White course are tough, at least for a beginner like me. I shot a 39 the second time around which put me at 12 over par. I had lowered my score by four shots.
After I was done playing 27 holes I wandered over to Spinski's Disc Golf Shop which is located near the 76th street light on Division. What a great little shop they have there. They have very reasonable and affordable prices for anyone who plays. All their stuff is PDGA regulated in case you want to play professionally. I know when I want to buy stuff I am going to go there. The people who run the store are very friendly and very helpful.
Disc Golfing is a great sport for someone like me who can't play physical contact sports because of my heart condition. It's fun, relaxing, and you get good exercise in with the walking you do. I hope to play a few more times this year and play a lot next year. Like Matt said to me, it's not about how hard you can throw it, it's about the motion and the accuracy. I was a great bowler, a good darts and horseshoes player and horrible golfer so between all the motions and accuracy in those sports I don't think I will be that bad. So if you ever want to go Disc Golfing in the West Michigan area, email me and I will most likely join you. Hail to the game of disc golf.
Some sites to check to check out.

So if you ever want to go Disc Golfing in the West Michigan area, email me and I will most likely join you. Hail to the game of disc golf.
Some sites to check to check out.

Hell in a Cell Returns
On October 4th, the most ominous structure in the WWE returns. The Hell in a Cell match returns but this time it's not just one match, it is a pay-per-view. Lately WWE has been doing themed pay-per-view in which all main events (there are usually three) take place under the same stipulation. This time the Main Events will take place in Hell in a Cell. The three main events will be:
World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk vs. The Undertaker
WWE Champion John Cena vs. Randy Orton
Degeneration X vs. Legacy
I will be posting my predictions the night before the pay-per-view but in the mean time I would like list my top five Hell in a Cell Matches of all time.
Number one is the most obvious and that would Mankind vs. The Undertaker at King of the Ring 1998. If you have never seen this match you are definitely missing out. It is still one of the most talked about matches in wrestling history.
Number two is because of who was in it. It was at Bad Blood between Shawn Michaels and Triple H when they were feuding. You talk about a classic encounter. This match went 47 minutes, the longest Cell match to take place.
Number three was at Armageddon and it had 6-men fighting for the right to be WWE Champion. It was Kurt Angle defeating Steve Austin, Triple H, The Undertaker, Rikishi, and The Rock to retain his title.
Number 4 was the first Hell in a Cell between Shawn Michaels and the Undertaker. It set the standard for what the Hell in a Cell match is and should be all about. Undertaker dominated by Michaels eventually won. It was also the debut of Kane and the last time Vince McMahon was on commentary for a pay-per-view. It was indeed a history making night.
Number 5 was when DX took on the McMahon's and Big Show in 2006. It was probably the best match in the DX-McMahon rivalry that year.
I should have said top 6 because the Cactus Jack-Triple H Hell in a Cell match at No Way Out in 2000 was horrific, brutal and just down right crazy. It was Cactus Jack's retirement match but we all know how no one really ever stays retired. It was a great match thought.
So if you like blood, brutality and pure violence then this is your pay-per-view to watch. It's live on October 4th at 8pm and excuse my language but it will truly be a night of shear hell for those who step in the cell.

More on UFC vs. Boxing
After my earlier post about UFC vs. Boxing and who will win the ratings war tomorrow someone sent me some numbers. They were the top gates for MMA and Boxing in Nevada more specifically Las Vegas.
CHUCK LIDDELL vs. TITO ORTIZ II 12/30/06, 12,191 paid attendance and $5,397,300.00 in Gross Sales.
FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR vs. OSCAR DE LA HOYA 05/05/07, 17,078 paid attendance and $ 18,419,200.00 in Gross sales.
So it appears that boxing does make more money but the reason that is, is because there is maybe only two good fights on in a year for boxing and so more people want to buy those one or two fights. However the UFC does 1 million dollars in gross sales on a consistent basis. You also have to factor in the sports bar factor. Sports bars across the nation have contracts to show events like UFC, and WWE. I've seen bars in my town of Grand Rapids, Mi that are packed 200-300 people to watch UFC. The bars are making money but if you really think about it the UFC and WWE lose money because of those contracts.
For example, I know of seven bars around my area that show UFC. So lets give each place on average of 200 people. So a total of 1400 people decide to go to the bar instead of buying it at home. UFC pay-per-views are generally around $50.00. So with those 1400 people you are losing $70,000 in pay-per-view buys. Lets take it one step further...Say there are 1500 bars in the nation that show UFC with an average of 200 people at each bar to watch it. So that's 30,000 people who do not buy the pay-per-view and end up going to the bar. So the UFC loses $1,500,000 in pay-per-view buys. This hypothetical and I am just throwing numbers out there. However you do see my point on how sports bars showing the events have an effect on how much money they make.
I am still standing by what I said that tomorrow night is either going to help boxing or completely kill it. The only reason anyone in my opinion would watch this fight with Mayweather is to see Pretty Boy Floyd get knocked. If you ask me, if Floyd gets knocked there is really no reason to watch boxing anymore. Mayweather is really the only marketable fighter in boxing. Just one problem with that and that is no one likes him. The UFC has more personality, and they market their fighters a lot better then boxing ever did. And another thing, boxing has way to many titles in way to many divisions. Start unifying all of them now and only have one title in each division.
So tomorrow night, it's on and I cannot wait. I will be watching the return of UFC legend Vitor Belfort who takes on Rich Franklin. I'll be back with the results and thoughts on most of the fights tomorrow night.

UFC vs. Boxing Tomorrow Night
Tomorrow night is UFC 103 with Rich Franklin taking on the returning Vitor Belfort and usually the UFC does not have any competition on Saturday Night's but they do now. The fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Juan Manuel Marquez is taking place tomorrow night at the same time as UFC Fight. I don't know who made scheduling for this fight but it's going to cause them to lose a lot of money.
If you haven't noticed, no one really cares about boxing anymore. They don't have any fighters with greatness or class in them anymore. There is no more Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield, George Foreman or Oscar De La Hoya. You have a couple decent fighters in Ricky Hatton and Manny Pacquiao. Other then that I really don't know anyone in the sport anymore.
The one thing that the UFC does way better then boxing is that they market their fighters. People like Chuck Liddell, and Randy Couture are well known because their face is shown on more then just UFC TV. The only marketable fighter boxing has is the guy who is probably one of the most hated athletes ever and thats Mayweather. He's been some commercials, been on Dancing with the Stars and has made a fool out of himself on WWE television. There is one problem with that. You can't rely on one guy, especially if he is hated to help the industry succeed. The UFC has multiple guys who help UFC stay successful. It's like I told someone yesterday, that even by having one of my favorite wrestlers in Triple H standing in Mayweather's corner doesn't help the cause because UFC is what boxing was and could have been.
I believe that tomorrow night is boxing's last stand at glory. If they do not outdraw or have more pay-per-view buys, boxing as we know it will be totally irrelevant in sports. The UFC's time is now. They have been dominant on TV and in pay-per-view over the last couple years. The last boxing fight that even drew and made a lot of money is when De La Hoya and Mayweather fought. Other then that I don't know of any other fight that has drawn any attention. So if you were to ask me which one I am going to watch, I will says UFC 103 hands down. Tomorrow night is going to be an interesting night.

Is Bobby Cox Retiring?
Yesterday it was reported on various outlets that Atlanta Braves manager Bobby Cox will not commit to returning to the Braves in the 2010 season. One has to wonder if he will finally decided to retire. He is 68 years old and has been around the game of baseball since 1968. He only played for two full season with Yankees in 1968 and 1969. He is most noted for his managing stints with the Atlanta Braves (1978–1981, Toronto Blue Jays (1982–1985) and back to the Atlanta Braves (1990–present). His career highlights include:
-1995 World Series champion
-1985 AL Manager of the Year
-Three time NL Manager of the Year (1991, 2004, 2005)
He also has the most ejections of all time as a manager which says a lot of how he has stood up for his players over the years. He really has never had a temper but when he has gotten angry it's something thats been remembered. If does retire he will be the fourth on the all time wins last as a manager only behind Connie Mack, John McGraw, and Tony La Russa who is still coaching today with the St. Louis Cardinals. Cox has managed some great teams and some great players in time as a manager and there is no doubt that he is future member of the baseball Hall of Fame. If this is his last go around then I say congratulations on a wonderful career. If he continues to keep managing then by all means give the Braves fans some more memories. The season is almost over so stay tuned to see if Bobby Cox decided to retire.

The Ultimate Fighter 10 Begins
Last night the Ultimate Fighters seasons started up again and this time it's all about the heavyweights. The coaches are Rampage Jackson and Rashad Evans. The man that everyone is worried about the most in internet sensation and street fight king Kimbo Slice. Here the teams that Rashad and Rampage picked.
Team Rashad
James McSweeney, Brendan Schaub, Jon Madsen, Justin Wren, Matt Mitrione, Roy Nelson, Darrill Schoonover, Mike Wessel
Team Rampage
Kimbo Slice, Abe Wagner, Demico Rogers, Wes Sims, Scott Junk, Wes Shivers, Marcus Jones, Zak Jensen
It was funny to see Rampage warm up to Kimbo as quick as he did. However Kimbo did not fight last night. It ended up being Jon Madsen vs. Abe Wagner and if you ever wanted to see a one sided bout that would have been the fight to see. Madsen destroyed Wagner in the two five minute rounds they had. Wagner had blood pouring out of him consistently for 9 minutes between the two rounds. The cut on his head was so deep that the medic treating him saw fracture in his skull bone.
If you like blood, brutality, and violence this might be the show you're going to want to watch. This season could go down as the bloodiest, the most brutal and the most violent season yet. It also could be the most talked about because of the hatred between Rashad and Rampage. It will also depend on what Kimbo Slice does as well. Stay tuned to Spike TV every Wednesday night at 10. I never say this but it's going to be must see TV.

Linda McMahon Running for Senate
Linda McMahon, the now former Chief Executive Officer of World Wrestling Entertainment is running for Senate in 2010 against current Connecticut Senator Chris Dodd. Linda McMahon is a very respected women in the business world and has accomplished a lot of things with her husband Vince McMahon Jr. since they have owned WWE. They have started programs like Smackdown your vote, which makes younger voters aware of the issues and candidates.
Linda has been on WWE TV as an angry wife, a leader, and a part of the most dysfunctional family on TV. The way she carries herself and WWE in the news and other media outlets is really impressive. I also like the fact that she really does want to take a stand and is not just talking the talk like all the other politicians do. She has been member of Connecticut State Board of Education, Sacred Heart University, and of course the WWE. To find more about Linda McMahon go to Linda2010.com
I would also like to mention as well that Jerry "the King" Lawler will be running for Mayor of Memphis. Good luck to both Jerry and Linda in both of their political aspirations. If I lived in your area I would definitely vote for you.

Returning the Favor in Baseball
Last night a benches clearing brawl exploded between the Yankees and Blue Jays. Two Blue Jays got hit last night by Yankees pitching so when Blue Jay decide to return the favor things got heated. Then it all broke lose when Jorge Posada crossed home plate and elbowed him. This was after Jesse Carlson beaned Posada earlier in the inning. However Posada should have known it was coming when the Blue Jays' Edwin Encarnacion and Aaron Hill were hit earlier in the game. Once Posada bumped into Carlson it was on a brawl ensued.
All year long I have seen this retaliation tactic. I know it's always been there but for some reason I've noticed it more. Once incident was when the Dodgers hit Prince Fielder in 9th inning with 2 outs and the Dodgers were crushing the Brewers. There was no reason do to it other then the fact Manny Ramirez got hit earlier in the game. More times then not when a guy gets hit, it's on accident or so you would think. However when a guy hits a home run and then gets hit on his next plate appearance then you know it's on purpose. This whole you bean my guy, I am going to bean yours attitude is stupid especially late in games when the game is pretty much over.
Really what do you gain out of retaliating? Nothing. You risk injury, you know you're going to get suspended and you're going to get fined. I don't see any of that being positive. People say it is part of the game, but should it really be? I honestly think their should heavier penalties for someone who retaliates or throws at multiple players in a game. I will admit that I do like the past brawls between the Yankees and Red Sox but look how much trouble they got in because of it. It will be interesting to see if baseball ever does anything to change this.

NFL Week 2 Predictions
Week 1 has come and gone and now it's time for week 2. So here are my predictions for the week.
Atlanta Falcons over Carolina Panthers
Minnesota Vikings over Detroit Lions
Green Bay Packers over Cincinnati Bengals
Tennessee Titans over Houston Texans
Oakland Raiders over Kansas City Chiefs
New York Jets over New England Patriots
New Orleans Saints over Philadelphia Eagles
Washington Redskins over St. Louis Rams
Arizona Cardinals over Jacksonville Jaguars
Seattle Seahawks over San Fransisco 49ers
Pittsburgh Steelers over Chicago Bears
Cleveland Browns over Denver Broncos
Baltimore Ravens over San Diego Chargers
Dallas Cowboys over New York Giants
Miami Dolphins over Indianapolis Colts
So there you have it for week 2. I made some risky choices but based on what I saw in week 1 you just never know. Some teams that didn't do well last year are going to surprise a lot of people. I am also still working on revamping my ESPN Fantasy Football team because I think it personally sucks. Hopefully I can get it together before Sunday.

NFL Week 1 Recap
All I can say is wow to a great week of football. It all started Thursday Night with a classic encounter between Pittsburgh and Tennessee that went into over time. What a great way to start the season. You talk about some crazy things happening. Denver beating Cincinnati the way they did. How about poor performances by Jay Cutler and Jake Delhomme? The only thing Carolina did right is injure Donovan McNabb. I was really impressed with Green Bay's defense. As long as Capers is running it they are going to be difficult to beat. Their were two Rookie Quarterbacks he made their debut. Mark Sanchez and Matthew Stafford. I was really impressed with Sanchez but Stafford did okay during his debut. It's really hard to come and lead a team as bad as the Lions. The Oakland Raiders played and Buffalo Bills made Monday Night Football exciting last night. No one gave either team a chance to win but they made it close and exciting.
Now on to Fantasy Football. In my Yahoo league here is what it looks like.
Hollywood's Rejects 226.30
Team Insano 215.62
Thank you Drew Brees for giving me the most points on my team this week. It was kind of easy considering that you played the Lions. So I am 1-0 on Yahoo. As for as my ESPN team I cannot say the same. I had a lose-lose week at QB. My starter was Jay Cutler and on the bench was Jake Delhomme. Either way I would have gotten killed. Here is what my week look liked for ESPN
Hollywoods World of Sports (0-1) 88
Get Right(1-0) 100
I lost by twelve in the last two nights after being up all day Sunday until the Chicago-Green Bay game. The player who scored the most points for me was Willis McGahee from Baltimore. I got a lot of revamping I have to do to my team this week before Sunday.
In terms of my predictions I went 12 for 16 which I am little bit disappointed in because I don't like getting more then two wrong in a week.
Off the football field this week the Eagles signed QB Jeff Garcia because of McNabb's injury. The Panthers signed QB A.J. Feely because Jake Delhomme had another bad game and they really don't know if he's capable of being a good Quarterback anymore. Speaking of the Panthers did you hear the stupid comments by Head Coach John Fox. He compared Jake to Tiger Woods and Roger Federer saying everyone has a bad day and you can't win them all. Okay that may be true but Tiger Woods and Roger Federer dominate their sport. Jake Delhomme anything but dominating. The Bears lost Brian Urlacher for the year which is not good for their defense. And finally, how about Brett Favre? He won is first game as a Viking, because he played smart and fed the ball to Adrian Peterson and didn't try to be the hero himself. A lot of interesting things happening this past week which makes next weeks predictions really tough.
My week two predictions will be posted tomorrow so check back for more tomorrow.

New WWE Champion Crowned at Breaking Point
I didn't watch much of Breaking Point last night because of the incredible Sunday Night Football game on last night. However some interesting surprises at Breaking Point last night. What a good showing by the Miz in his efforts again Kofi Kingston. Even though this match was good, the Dolph Ziggler and John Morrison match would have been ten times better. I look forward to seeing that match sometime soon.
MVP and Mark Henry looked pretty good as a tag team but I like the combination of Big Show and Chris Jericho. You will see them with those titles for a long time or atleast until Wrestlemania.
I was really surprised that Christian kept the ECW Championship against Regal but it was one on one so you knew Christian would win. I think Christian needs to be moved over to Smackdown or something. His talent is show much better on one of the other shows.
The Singapore cane match didn't even capture my attention. I hate it when they put two big guys in there together. It makes for a completely horrible match and that's exactly what it was. It was just downright horrible.
What another great match between DX and Legacy. I was really impressed by Legacy again last night. What a great rivalry this is turning into and how great it is to see two younger guys their push and be successful. I am still in shock that Legacy won but I think it's great.
And yes the Champ is here. John Cena made Randy Orton say I quit in a classic encounter which furthered their rivalry. John Cena is now a 6 time WWE Champion and we will see how long this one lasts. Hopefully not a year because that would really suck.
Why is it every time they are in Montreal they do a screw job angle? The Undertaker and CM Punk match was great until they pulled a Bret Hart and screwed over the Undertaker. How stupid and how repetitive. Can WWE go into Montreal without doing an angle like that? Probably not. I would give the PPV 5.5/10. It was decent but it wasn't all that great except for the DX-Legacy Match. The Undertaker/CM Punk finish totally ruined the whole pay-per-view for me. Come on WWE, let's get more creative and stop using the same old angles. No wonder why your ratings suck. Next month is Hell in a Cell and I am hoping we will see something better. Until then who cares about WWE.

A Football Rivalry Renewed and More
Yesterday was a great day in College Football and the thing that made it so great was the Michigan and Notre Dame game. What a classic game and what's great about it is that it was probably the most competitive game they have had against each other in about five years. That game was good for college football because it's one of the oldest rivalries in sports history. It started in 1887 and by winning yesterday it furthered their lead in the series 21-15-1. They also cracked the top 25 as well.
However the Michigan, Notre Dame game wasn't the only great and exciting game yesterday. How about Central Michigan upsetting Michigan State yesterday 29-27 in the final minute of the game. Wisconsin Badgers barely beat the Fresno State Bulldogs yesterday 34-31. The Georgia Bulldogs got a run for their money from the South Carolina Gamecocks but Georgia won 41-37. The North Carolina Tar Heels who are much more known for basketball beat the Connecticut Huskies 12-10. The UCLA Bruins defeated the Tennessee Volunteers 19-15
Then there was the game that I thought was going to a blowout but ended up being a nail biter and that was USC and Ohio State. USC barely beat Ohio State which proved to me that both the Trojans and Buckeyes are either going to be really good or really bad this year. I am leaning toward them both being good. USC won the game 18-15 but Ohio State proved they still have a team that will still be difficult to beat.
It was definitely a good day in College Football and hopefully we will see more exciting games to come. I think it will be a very good week next week with match ups including:
No. 14 Georgia Tech at No. 20 Miami (FL)
No. 19 Nebraska at No. 13 Virginia Tech
Michigan State at Notre Dame
Hopefully we will see another great week in College Football.

The Chase for the Cup is on
Last night the field for the Sprint Cup, Chase for the Cup was set. Here are the standings for the First week of the cup.
1 Mark Martin 5040 ---
2 Tony Stewart 5030 -10
3 Jimmie Johnson5030 -10
4 Denny Hamlin 5020 -20
5 Kasey Kahne 5020 -20
6 Jeff Gordon 5010 -20
7 Kurt Busch 5010 -30
8 Brian Vickers 5010 -30
9 Carl Edwards 5000 -40
10 Ryan Newman 5000 -40
11 Juan Pablo Montoya 5000 -40
12 Greg Biffle 5000 -40
Kyle Busch missed the chase by eight points and Matt Kenseth missed it by 38 points. Yet another reason I do not like the Chase for the Cup. These two guys easily could have cracked the top five in points under the old traditional ways of how NASCAR use to be ran. If Tony Stewart does not win the Sprint Cup this year I will no longer watch NASCAR. He has held the points for the majority of the season and for him not to win the Cup would be a travesty. I hope he does. These last ten races shall be interesting.

The Greatest of All Time?
Often in sports you always hear the phrase "The greatest of all time." When you describe a player like that you are saying that he is better then anyone else who has ever played in his sport. It's probably the highest praise and compliment you could receive.
In baseball everyone considers Babe Ruth the greatest of all time. Not only was he a great hitter, he was also a great pitcher. He was the most dominate player of his time. In basketball, some people say Wilt Chamberlain or Michael Jordan. Chamberlain dominated the era he played in and Jordan revolutionized the game and brought it to a whole different level. In football, some say Bart Starr, Joe Montana, Joe Namath, and even Brett Favre. All were great when they played. Well Favre is still playing but I mean when he was in his prime.
In NASCAR, almost everyone says Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt. Both have won more championships then any driver in NASCAR history and Petty has won more races then anyone. In hockey, people think Wayne Gretzky is the greatest of all time. He has a lot of medals, won a lot of awards, and has a won a few Stanley Cups. In Golf, people think Tiger Woods is the greatest of all time but before him it was Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. In coaching, people now say Phil Jackson because he has won 10 NBA Championships and his coached some of the greatest players in the game
In Boxing everyone calls the Muhammad Ali the greatest of all time. Even though it's not a sport most people consider Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan the greatest of all time in professional wresting history. That's quite a statement considering all the wrestlers who have come and gone.
Look at all of this and all the sports how can you really say that someone is "The Greatest of All Time?" Sports have changed overtime and the way the games are played have changed as well.
In baseball, it is really hard to find an argument against Babe Ruth being the the greatest of all time because he was good at pitching and hitting. However would he have been a good pitcher in today's game. Pitching has changed so much overtime. There is a lot more to pitching now then there was in the 1900's atleast from the stand point of arm mechanics. Also how do we really know is the greatest of all time now because of the steroids era. I think it's safe to say Ruth is the greatest Yankee of all time but look at who has the most hits, or the most wins as a pitcher. Shouldn't they be considered the greatest as well?
In basketball, Chamberlain dominated his era, and Jordan dominated the 90's. However how can you discredit the players in between like Bird, Johnson and even Kareem. How about the players of today like Kobe Bryant? The game is much more competitive then it was when Chamberlain and Russell played. They were the two dominant big men in their era, whereas today almost every team has got a dominant big man.
In football, notice how I listed all Quarterbacks. What about running-backs like Barry Sanders, Emmitt Smith and Walter Payton. How about wide-receivers like Jerry Rice. Then you can't forget about defensive players like Dick Butkus, Reggie White, and even Michael Strahan. Guys can be considered the greatest at their positions but not the greatest of all time in the sport.
In NASCAR, Petty and Earnhardt dominated before the Chase for the Cup started. They didn't compete against 11 other drivers the last ten races of the season. They competed against everyone for every race. Since the Chase for the cup started in 2004, Jimmie Johnson has won three Cups in a row. So if he gets to seven or even break the record by getting eight, should he be considered the greatest of all time? No because the format of the sport has changed and so has the points systems
Wayne Gretzky was a great player but no doubt about that but what about a guy like Gordie Howe who has almost every record there is to have in the game of Hockey. I also hear a kid by the name of Sidney Crosby could be great someday to. Gretzky and Howe were the best players of their era.
Golf is the same way, Nicklaus and Palmer dominated during their prime. When Nicklaus and Palmer were out of their prime no one dominated the sport until Tiger Woods came along. If you really want to go way back, you also can't forget about Ben Hogan.
Phil Jackson has won the most championships out of any coach in a sport but how can you forget about the greatness of coaches like Vince Lombardi, Tom Landry, Mike Ditka, Joe Torre, and Red Auerbach even Pat Riley or Bill Belichick. All of them have led their teams to multiple championships.
In boxing, Muhammad Ali brought boxing to the mainstream with his trash talk and his flashiness. He had some incredible fights but he was not undefeated. However a fight by the name of Rocky Marciano was undefeated going 49-0. There is also a fighter by the name of Floyd Mayweather Jr. who is also undefeated for now. So how can you discredit an undefeated fighter?
In pro wrestling Flair and Hogan are considered the greatest. However you cannot count out guys like Harley Race, Ricky Steamboat, Dusty Rhodes, Shawn Michaels and Triple H. All of them have had stellar careers that most wrestling fans will always remember.
Notice the word era was brought up a lot. I think you can say someone was the greatest in their era, on their team and possibly even the position they play. However I cannot agree with calling someone the greatest of all time. Athletes are always getting better and sports are always becoming more competitive. There also new concepts, and new rules that effect the way you play the game. Time always changes things. There is no doubt in my mind that all the athletes mentioned above were the greatest in their era's but in the end you cannot predict the future either. How do you know when the next great athlete is going to come around? So who in your mind do you think is great?

Jeff Hardy Arrested
Not more then three weeks after his departure from the WWE, Jeff Hardy has been arrested. Jeff Hardy was arrested on Friday and the charges were for trafficking in controlled prescription pills and possession of anabolic steroids. The police founds 262 Vicodin prescription pills, 180 Soma prescription pills, 555 milliliters of anabolic steroids, a residual amount of powder cocaine and items of drug paraphernalia in his house in North Carolina. The street value of these drugs are around $2,500. His bail was set $125,00 and his brother Matt paid for it.
This makes you wonder how long this has been going on? Jeff Hardy was on his second strike in terms of the WWE's Drug Policy. If he would have been caught one more time he would have been fired. The sheriff of Moore County said this has been an ongoing investigation. So the is that why Jeff Hardy left the WWE? Jeff Hardy lost the WWE Championship at Summerslam to CM Punk and wrestled his final match for WWE the following Friday night on Smackdown.
Knowing Jeff Hardy's past you would think that this would be no surprise but to me it was because it seemed like after his second drug policy violation he cleaned up his life. The WWE gave him three title reigns but it also explains why all of his title reigns were short. It's because he couldn't be trusted as a long term champion.
In a lot of ways CM Punk's character is right. How could you let your kids look up to someone like Jeff Hardy? He's been known as a drug user and now a drug trafficker. He's facing some serious charges which could result in some jail time. Apparently he said Matt didn't bail him out and that he was really pissed off at the media. Jeff and Matt Hardy as well as Chris Jericho and Chavo Guerrero said for people not to judge and not to believe all the hype surrounding this situation. Okay I agree with not judging part because none of us are really in the position to judge but why would a Sheriff raid your house and report all these drugs in your house? I hate to say it but Jeff Hardy is guilty.
I really feel bad for Matt Hardy who has always been overshadowed by his brother. Matt has always had a clean lifestyle as far as we know and is a great wrestler. For him not to get World title reigns is ridiculous. I just think the whole situation with Jeff sucks and now we will have to wait and see what happens. Stay tuned for more on this story.

Derek Jeter Breaks Lou Gehrig's Record
Tonight greatness passed greatness. For seven years Lou Gehrig held the record of most hits by a New York Yankee with 2,721 hits. Tonight Derek Jeter broke that record and cemented his place in not only Yankees history but in baseball history putting him among the greatest of all time. You look at all the great Yankees that have played the game. You have Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Roger Maris, and Don Mattingly. Derek Jeter has more hits then any of them as a Yankee.
I have never been a Yankees fan but I have always respected Derek Jeter because he is the constant professional on and off the field. He's never been in any legal trouble or been accused of using steroids. He is a great role model for what you want your kids to be as an athlete. I don't think I have heard anything bad about Jeter as a player or as a person
Derek Jeter is only 35 years old and is not even close to being done. However look at all he is accomplished so far in his career.
-Four time World Series champion (1996, 1998, 1999, 2000)
-Ten time All-Star selection (1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009)
-1996 AL Rookie of the Year Award
-Three time Gold Glove Award winner (2004, 2005, 2006)
-Three time Silver Slugger Award winner (2006, 2007, 2008)
-2000 All-Star Game MVP
-2000 World Series MVP Award
-2000 Babe Ruth Award
-2006 AL Hank Aaron Award
Jeter will no doubt someday have his jersey retired and be apart of Yankees history. There is also no doubt in my mind that he is a first ballot hall of famer. As a person who lives in West Michigan it is even more special to see someone from your area accomplish as much as Jeter has. He is someone that everyone could be proud of and look up to.
How ironic is it that he broke the record on September 11th in New York City on the anniversary of the most devastating day in American history that took place in that city. Eight years ago they had nothing to be happy for, nothing to cheer for and nothing really to look forward to. Eight years later they have seen a seventy year record fall and see their team on the bring of another World Series run. Congratulations to Derek Jeter and his great accomplishment. You will go down in history as one of the all time greats.

How 9/11 Effected Sports
It was eight years ago today that the most tragic day in America happened with 9/11. A lot of things were effected by 9/11. Our airlines, our businesses, and even our faith. One of things that felt effects of 9/11 was sports. For me as a sports fan it was so hard going a week and in some sports going two weeks without watching sports. I can remember all that was on TV were stories of victims and survivors. I will always remember the day time stood still and nothing else mattered. Now lets look at how 9/11 effected sports. Lets talk about facts, ironies, and mere coincidences of what has happened in sports shortly after 9/11 and since it happened.
One of things that happened is baseball and football seasons were behind schedule and resulted in baseball's playoffs being in the middle of November. Football had a tight schedule and the date of the Superbowl even got changed.
Two weeks after 9/11, Michael Jordan came out of retirement to play for the Washington Wizards and donated his salary to all the victims families of the attacks. Jordan played 60 games that year and played the following year. His last NBA Basketball game was at the United Center in Chicago against the Bulls.
The New York Mets wore baseball hats with the logo's of the FDNY, and NYPD. All the baseball teams wore them but the Mets wore them for the rest of the year even though they were facing fines. Also in baseball that year Barry Bond's, weather you like him or not gave the country something to root for as he broke Mark McGwire's single season home run record by hitting 73 home runs.
In NASCAR before 9/11, every lap 3 of every race was a silent tribute to Dale Earnhardt who died earlier that year at the Daytona 500. After 9/11 the tribute was for the fallen heroes of 9/11. In 2002, the silent tribute stopped.
Three days after the attacks, WWE was the first sporting/entertainment event to take place in Houston, Texas. In wrestling you don't have much to cry about but I can tell you without a doubt I had tears in my eyes watching all the superstar tributes to New York. A lot of people criticize professional wrestling and it's antics but to me I will always remember that night as the greatest act in professional wrestling. Wrestlers and wrestling fans alike call it the greatest Smackdown in the 10 year history of the show. Since this time WWE goes over seas every year before Christmas and have a show called "Tribute to the Troops," that has taken place either in Iraq or Afghanistan.
Now here some myths, ironies, and just mere coincidences of whats happened since September 2001. Before 2001 the Yankees won the World Series title three years in a row. Since then the Yankees have not won a World Series title. It was also in 2000 where New York sports was at it's all time high with the Subway series between the Yankees and Mets.
When you think of people who love America you usually call them patriots. Well the 2001 NFL season is when the New England Patriots' dynasty began and the won the Superbowl that season and they have been a dominant team since then.
The year 2001, was the last time Jeff Gordon won a NASCAR championship. All these things could be mere coincidences or just a matter of fate and destiny but it makes you think. It really makes you think about superstitions, ironies, and that type of stuff.
The final irony about all of this could take place tonight. Possibly the greatest New York Yankee of all time Derek Jeter has a chance to break Lou Gehrig's all time hit record as a Yankee. What is special about that, is that the game is in New York at the new Yankee Stadium.
A lot of people consider athletes and celebrities as their heroes. The true heroes of this country are the ones who survived 9/11 and the ones who worked in New York to save the lives of others. On a personal note, I visited the site of where United 93 crashed in Shanksville, PA. The passengers on that plan are also heroes for giving their lives from preventing another attack on Washington D.C.
September 11th 2001 is a day none of us will ever forget. It effected our lives, our faith, our safety and it changed the way we value our freedoms as Americans. God Bless to those who lost loved on ones eight years ago. God Bless to those who risk their lives to help out and save people from the rubble. Finally God Bless America.
One of things that happened is baseball and football seasons were behind schedule and resulted in baseball's playoffs being in the middle of November. Football had a tight schedule and the date of the Superbowl even got changed.

Brett Favre Brings More Drama
So Brett Favre's excuse for playing horrible the last half of the season last year is because the New York Jets were aware of his injury and didn't report it. Is that so? Why is it that it's everyone else's fault that certain things have happened to you or caused you to make the decisions you have. If you were that seriously injured you should have reported it and refused to play. Teams can get fined any wheres from $10,000-$25,000 for not reporting injuries. Making these comments is a way to get back at the Jets for how he was treated at the end of the season. Just like playing for Vikings is a way to get back at the Packers for letting you go when you couldn't make up your mind about what you wanted to do. It is all unwanted drama by guy who really has nothing left to prove. I am not sure I have anything else to say on this matter accept that after this year he needs to do the right thing and leave the game without coming back again.

Final Predictions for the NFL Season
The NFL Season begins tonight with the Tennessee Titans and Pittsburgh Steelers. Here are my final predictions for the NFL season of who is going to win each division and who ends up in the Super Bowl this year.
NFC North- Green Bay Packers
NFC South- Atlanta Falcons
NFC West- Arizona Cardinals
NFC East- Philadelphia Eagles
Wild card: Carolina Panthers, Dallas Cowboys
AFC North- Pittsburgh Steelers
AFC South- Tennessee Titans
AFC West- San Diego Chargers
AFC East- New England Patriots
Wild card- Baltimore Ravens, Indianapolis Colts
And in the Super Bowl this year it will be the Pittsburgh Steelers going against the Green Bay Packers. I have a strong feeling about Green Bay this year. Aaron Rodgers in finally over the Brett Favre drama and they looked really great in preseason even though that doesn't mean that much. Pittsburgh hasn't changed it's look very much from last year. My biggest concern though is all drama and allegations being thrown at Big Ben. It could prove to be a costly distraction.
The four teams I think that will do the worst are the Detroit Lions, Oakland Raiders, Denver Broncos and St. Louis Rams. None of them have impressed me throughout the off-season or the preseason. As far as MVP is concerned I think because there is only one it will go to a healthy LaDainian Tomlinson. Hopefully he doesn't get injured.
Those are my final predictions for the NFL season. Some are smart, some are crazy, and some of them I just pulled out of my rear end but I think it's going to be a great year in football. I guess 150 days from now we will have to see just who is going to Super Bowl Champion. Don't forget tonight on NBC, opening kickoff at 8:30pm between the Titans and Steelers. What a way to kick of the season.

The Phillies Four
I couldn't believe this when I saw it the other night. The Philadelphia Phillies have four guys with 30 or more home runs. I just thought that was amazing. It's almost like a rare feat in baseball but come to find out, it's happened more then once.
It happened in 1977 when the Dodgers did it.
Steve Garvey had 33 home runs
Reggie Smith had 32 home runs
Dusty Baker had 30 home runs
Ron Cey had 30 home runs.
That is very impressive. What's even more impressive is that the Colorado Rockies did it three years in a row from 1995-1997 and also did it again in 1999.
In the 1995 season
Dante Bichette had 40 home runs
Larry Walker had 36 home runs
Vinny Castilla had 32 home runs
Andres Galarraga had 31 runs
In the 1996 season
Andres Galarraga had 47 home runs
Ellis Burks had 40 home runs
Vinny Castilla had 40 runs
Dante Bichette had 31 runs
In the 1997 season
Larry Walker had 49 home runs
Andres Galarraga had 41 home runs
Vinny Castilla had 40 home runs
Ellis Burks had 32 home runs
In the 1999 season
Larry Walker had 37 home runs
Todd Helton had 35 home runs
Dante Bichette had 34 home runs
Vinny Castilla had 33 home runs
That is incredible but considering the Rockies ballpark it doesn't surprise me. Now you fast forward 10 years with defending World Series Champions the Philadelphia Phillies. They now have four players with 30 or more home runs on their team. Those players are Ryan Howard, Jayson Werth, Chase Utley, and Raul Ibanez. What's impressive about Ibanez hitting 30 home runs is he missed a month of the season due to an injury. The Phillies have the capabilities of being World Series Champions again. They can put up big numbers at anytime. The Phillies four might just get them back to the promise land. We'll just have to wait and see if they can make another run like they did before.
If there are any other teams I may have left out please post a comment on what teams have had four players with 30 or more home runs in a year. Please list the year, the players, and how many home runs they had. Thanks

Allen Iverson to the Memphis Grizzlies?
According to his twitter page, Allen Iverson has signed a contract to play for the Memphis Grizzlies. In a small market team that already includes Rudy Gay, Marc Gasol
Marko Jaric, O.J. Mayo, Zach Randolph, and Hasheem Thabeet it would be no surprise if the Grizzlies could actually compete this year. However Allen Iverson is a one man wrecking crew and guys Mayo and Gay aren't going to just stand by and let Iverson score all the points. Iverson has a way of destroying teams like the Nuggets and Pistons. Look how much better Denver was without him and look how much worst Detroit got with him. Here is how I see the starting five for the Grizzlies this coming season
PG-Allen Iverson
SG-O.J. Mayo
SF-Rudy Gay
PF-Zach Randolph
C-Hasheem Thabeet
Last year the Grizzlies record was 24-58. I say they will go 40-42 this year that is if Iverson moves the ball around more and doesn't play the way he always has. I think you will see a more competitive Grizzlies team this year. Iverson wants to prove he still has it and want to prove his critics wrong. And wouldn't you know the Grizzlies open up the season October 28th against the Detroit Pistons. This should be a good early test for the Grizzlies to see what they might bring to the table this year.

Quinton Jackson vs. Rashad Evans Postponed, Thoughts on UFC 107
On December 12th at UFC 107 it was suppose to be Quinton Jackson vs. Rashad Evans in a light heavyweight bout and it was suppose to be the main event. However the fight is now postponed because Jackson has a role in the new A-Team movie. They expect the fight to take place in March of 2010 sometime. So where does that leave UFC 107. What will be the main event. Three fights have been announced so far.
-Lightweight Championship bout: B.J. Penn vs. Diego Sanchez
-Heavyweight bout: Frank Mir vs. Cheick Kongo
-Welterweight bout: Thiago Alves vs. Paulo Thiago
I must say it's about time Diego Sanchez gets his title shot but to me that's not a headline match. Who could you put in the octagon that hasn't fought since August or before August. Here are some fighters not scheduled for UFC 103-106
Randy Couture
Anderson Silva
Forrest Griffin
Chuck Liddell
Georges St-Pierre
Dan Henderson
Wanderlei Silva
Matt Hughes
Matt Serra
Keith Jardine
That's a list of names that come December will not have had a fight in quite sometime. There are a lot of great potential match up's in that list of names so it should be interesting to see what UFC can pull together. Their December show is usually the biggest show of the year and I hope they can come up with a great replacement fight for UFC 107. Keeping checking back for the updated UFC 107 card.

Predictions for WWE's Breaking Point
This Sunday is WWE's newest pay-per-view Breaking Point where all three main events are submission matches. This should be a decent pay-per-view by the looks of the lineup but looks are definitely deceiving sometimes. So here are my predictions.
World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk vs. Undertaker (Submission Match)
Undertaker is making his return to the ring in five months and with this glorious return I would like to think he will win the World Heavyweight Championship. I am going with the Undertaker because I don't see him submitting.
WWE Champion Randy Orton vs. John Cena ("I Quit" Match)
I don't see John Cena saying I quit, but Randy Orton will keep the WWE Title. How could that be possible? Cena gets knocked out or passes out and he can no longer compete. Remember the Bret Hart/Stone Cold match at Wrestlemania 13? Austin never quit and neither will Cena
D-Generation X vs. Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase (Submissions Count Anywhere Match)
Another great match in the making between these two teams. I have a feeling this might get bloody and brutal because their are no rules. As I said in my previous post Triple H and Shawn will both lock in the figure four and win the match. I think Legacy will shine once again like they did at Summerslam
WWE Intercontinental Champion John Morrison vs. Dolph Ziggler
This match has match of the night written all over it, or atleast it could steal the show. Morrison just won the title a week ago due to Rey Mysterio's suspension. So does he keep the title, or does Dolph win the title like he is suppose to? I think Dolph Ziggler is your new WWE Intercontinental Champion
ECW Champion Christian vs. William Regal (with Ezekiel Jackson & Vladimir Kozlov)
With Vladimir and Ezekiel out at ringside I think William Regal is finally going to win the ECW Championship. I believe their are bigger plans for Christian in the future.
Mark Henry & Montel Vontavious Porter vs. Unified Tag Team Champions Chris Jericho & Big Show
Like I said I think their are bigger plans for Christian. How does that relate to this match? Simple, Jericho and Big Show will remain tag team champions until Wrestlemania 26. It is reported that Edge will come back at Wrestlemania 26. So if Edge had to choose a tag team partner to face the Big Show and Chris Jericho who would it be? None other then Christian. I'll be very surprise if any other team, legitimate or not defeats the Unified Tag Team Champions
The Great Khali vs. Kane (Singapore Cane Match)
I don't really even care about this match but I got a feeling The Great Khali will win this match.
So there you have it, Breaking Point is this Sunday on pay-per-view live from Montreal Canada. I will post the results the day after and give you my thoughts on the show.

Baseball Players Who Use WWE Entrance Themes
I was on WWE the other day I came across something WWE posted on their website. You ever noticed when you're at a Major League Baseball game that players come to the plate with with their own music. Well WWE.com had a list put together last year and this year of baseball players who use the music WWE superstars come out as their music when they come up to bat or come into the game. So here are the lists
2008
Joe Mauer came out to John Cena's music "My Time is Now"
Prince Fielder came out to Triple H's music "King of Kings"
Placido Polanco came out to John Morrison's music "Ain't no make believe"
Derek Jeter came out to Shaw Michaels music "Sexy Boy"
Alex Rodriguez came out to MVP's music "I'm Comin"
Johan Santana came out to Ted Dibiase's music "It's all about the money"
Kerry Wood came out to Vince McMahon's music "No chance in hell"
Trevor Hoffman came out to The Undertakers music "Graveyard Symphony"
Adam Dunn came out to Jesse and Festus' music "Biscuits and Gravy"
Juan Pierre came out Cryme Tyme's music "Bring Da Hood T U"
Manny Ramirez came out Chris Jericho's music "Break the Walls Down"
Ozzie Guillen came out to Mr. Kennedy's music "Turn up the Trouble"
2009
Victor Martinez comes out Christian's music "Just Close Your Eyes"
Mark Teixera comes out to Jack Swagger's music "Get on Your Knees"
Dustin Pedroia comes out to Jeff Hardy's music "No More Words"
Jimmy Rollins comes out to Kofi Kingston's music "S.O.S."
David Wright comes out to Triple H's music "King of Kings"
Zack Greinke comes out to CM Punk's music "This Fire Burns"
Andrew Bailey comes out to The Miz's music "Reality Check"
Mariano Rivera comes out to The Undertaker's music "Graveyard Symphony"
Nick Markakis comes out to Evan Bourne's music "Axeman"
Torii Hunter comes out to Edge's music "Metalingus"
Alfonso Soriano comes out to John Cena's music "My Time is Now"
Lou Pinella comes out to Randy Orton's music "Voices"
This is just a perfect example of how big of a pop culture phenomenon WWE has become. Whenever they are in a big town like Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, or any other towns with big sports team you always see players from the NBA, NFL, and MLB at their shows. It's really cool to see wrestling and professional sports promote each other. This list of players that come out WWE music is just a small example of how big WWE is with athletes, celebrities and their fans all over the world. I guess I will have to pay more attention to baseball games to see if any of the players come out familiar music I hear on WWE. I love the concept and I love the promoting they do for each other.

Shawne Merriman Update
Shawne Merriman says he was trying to help Tila Tequila get transportation so she could leave his house. There was a disturbance call late Saturday night and police showed up to Merriman's house. She filed a citizens arrest but no charges were filed. It should be known that Tila was intoxicated and authorities did not find any injuries on her. It was also reported that Tila is not his girlfriend, they are just acquaintances. So you have to wonder if Merriman is actually innocent and was just trying to help her? If so then a lot of people owe him an apology for assuming the worst about him. I admit that when I first heard about it that I jumped to conclusions. Hopefully he is innocent because the Chargers need his presence on the field. He is the heart of their defense and makes them go. Keep checking back for further updates on this situation.

One Race Left Until the Chase Begins
This Saturday is the final race before the Chase for the Cup begins. Saturday's race will be at Richmond in one of the funnest night races of the year. It's the Chevy Rock & Roll 400 at Richmond. The point standings are very tight right now.
1 Tony Stewart 3694 ---
2 Jeff Gordon 3457 -237
3 Jimmie Johnson 3404 -290
4 Denny Hamlin 3296 -398
5 Carl Edwards 3162 -532
6 Kasey Kahne 3153 -541
7 Kurt Busch 3152 -542
8 Juan Montoya 3145 -549
9 Ryan Newman 3138 -556

14 Kyle Busch 3040 -654
15 David Reutimann 2945 -749

Now I personally hate the concept of the top 12 drivers competing for the championship because the other 31 teams have no reason to really show up for the race except maybe to win a race make some extra money. A lot can happen in 10 races. Someone in the top 20 could make a huge comeback an contend. The other thing I hate about chase, is that the points are reset and everyone starts over. That's totally unfair to the guy who as been in 1st place the whole year. I honestly think the Chase has hurt the sport, not helped it. If you think about it, if a fans driver isn't in the Chase then their is no reason for them to watch. I think they need to go back to the old ways of doing it. I'll be curious to see how everything plays out in the end this year. I hope Tony Stewart maintains his lead and wins the whole thing. That would be great considering he has held the lead all year. Stay tuned to see if "Smoke" can smoke them all.

Shawne Merriman Arrested
This morning San Diego Chargers Linebacker Shawne Merriman was arrested for allegedly choking and restraining his girlfriend Tila Tequila. Yes the same Tila Tequila from "A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila." Apparently she was trying to leave their home and that's when the incident occurred. He is being charged with battery and false imprisonment. This is not the first time Merriman has been in trouble. In 2006, he was suspended for four games for testing positive for steroids.
Well if he is found guilty he will probably not play this season. Don't believe me? Look at commissioner Roger Goodell's track record of who he has suspended.
Rodney Harrison, Adam "Pacman" Jones, Chris Henry, Terry "Tank" Johnson and Michael Vick. He also made the New England Patriots forfeit their first round 2008 draft pick because New England videotaped the defensive signals of the New York Jets.
The Chargers are one of the heavy favorites to win it all this year because they are finally healthy. But with Merriman being the anchor of their defense, you have to wonder if he is gone how good the defense will be. I know one player doesn't make the team but one great player can effect a lot of things. Yes, I think as a player he is great but he has made some stupid choices like this one. Stay tuned for another episode of NFL Player gone stupid. This one should be interesting.

Danica Patrick to NASCAR
Well the inevitable has finally happened. Female superstar race drive Danica Patrick be driving in NASCAR next year. Sources say she will race in the Camping World Truck and Nationwide series. Tony Stewart even made a guarantee that she will be in NASCAR next year leading a lot of people that she will be on his team. Stewart who owns half of Stewart-Haas racing and is a very good friend of Patrick's. Danica stated she would not give up racing Indy car racing but once she realizes how much money she could make in NASCAR she won't drive Indy cars.
So what does this do for NASCAR? Well there have been female drivers before but none of them have been able to compete on the level that Danica can. Once she gives up Indy cars she will probably in the Sprint Cup Series. She has a huge chance to make a lot of history that's never been seen in NASCAR. She has already a superstar. Look all the things she has done.
-She has been in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue
-She has been in two GoDaddy.com commercials
-She has been in Jay-Z's music video "Show Me What You Got,"
-She has been a guest on Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night With Conan O'Brien
Her racing credentials are pretty impressive as well. For example in her five starts at the Indy 500 she has had four top ten finishes. Shes finished 12th or better since she started Indy Cars in 2005. And by the way she is the first woman to win an Indy Car race. Mark my words this is going to be a great thing for NASCAR. It's going to bring a whole new fan base to the sport and will probably re-energize the sport. Will 2010 be the year that NASCAR changes forever? I think it will be but it's a good change so stay tuned.

Sam Bradford Injured and More
If you're the Oklahoma Sooners you did not envision your first game of the season going the way it did tonight Former Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford was injured in the 2nd quarter with a shoulder sprain in his throwing arm. To top it off they lost 20th ranked Brigham Young 14-13. The Sooners were ranked 3 and will probably drop dramatically. Any chance of Bradford of winning the Heisman again may have been wiped away by this injury. Most people are out for 2-4 weeks with this sort of injury. The extent of his injury is not known yet but hopefully it's not too bad for all the Sooner fans out there. I personally hope Bradford comes back soon because Bradford is my favorite college football player and has actually got me interested in college football.
Other tidbits from college football today include the Florida Gator steamrolling over Charleston Southern. The final score was 62-3. Alabama defeated Virginia Tech in a really good game. U of M, and MSU both had stellar games. It was great to see the Grady brothers (Kevin and Kelvin from East Grand Rapids) get a little bit of playing time in the game. Other then BYU defeated Oklahoma there were no upsets this weekend.
Games to look forward to next week
No. 4 USC at No. 6 Ohio State
No. 23 Notre Dame at Michigan
Central Michigan at Michigan State
I know I will be watching, will you be?

Hulk Hogan Please Shut Up
I never thought I would be writing this or thinking this but the other day I was listening to the Bubba The Love Sponge show and guess who was on? None other then Hulk Hogan, Brian Knobbs and Kurt Angle. Hulk Hogan keeps saying that TNA is missing the one piece that get them over the hill and he is referring to himself. He took it to another level telling Angle he would like to work a program with him. Angle fed Hogans ego by saying he could make it happen. Hogan does this every single year trying leverage something so WWE will take him back. Newsflash Terry, Vince doesn't want you back because you cause to much political drama in the back like you did with Shawn Michaels in 2005. No one wants to work with you anymore because you won't put anyone over. You always have to win and ever since you been doing reality TV no one really cares about you.
You're the Immortal Hulk Hogan, you have nothing left to prove. You are a legend and probably the greatest sports entertainer of all time. So here is what I say, if you are going to sign a contract with TNA then do it and shut up. Quit talking about how you want to do this and do that. You have a lot of your fans down by being all talk and no action. Would I be happy if Hogan returned to wrestling? Yes. Would I be upset if he didn't? No, because he is past him prime and is way over the hill. He will go down as one of the greatest of all time. People that don't even like wrestling know who Hulk Hogan is.
You always ask the question Whatcha Gonna Do? Well thats my question to you now. Whatcha Gonna Do? Whatcha Gonna Do when all of your Hulkamaniacs turn their backs on you?

Notable NFL Roster Cuts
Today was the final day for NFL teams to cut their roster sizes down to the league minimum. Here are some of the more notable names that were cut and without a team right now.
Kansas City Chiefs cut Zach Thomas
New York Giants cut David Tyree
New Orleans Saints cut Joey Harrington
Oakland Raiders cut Jeff Garcia
Buffalo Bills cut Dominic Rhodes
San Fransisco 49ers cut Damon Huard
Tampa Bay Buccaneers cut Matt Bryant
Atlanta Falcons cut Robert Ferguson
Washington Redskins cut D.J. Hackett
Here is a thought. The Detroit Lions should sign all of these guys and they might have a chance of winning a game or two this year. I know I shouldn't rib on the Lions but it is so hard not to. Weather these guys are past their prime or just having bad years the fact of the matter is this list features some pretty good talent who if given a chance might get back to their old ways of being a good football player. Keep in eye out for these guys to see any teams sign them.

Bryan Danielson and Nigel McGuinness Sign with WWE
Remember the 80's when WWE raided all the territory's for their talent. Well it's happening again and this time it's Ring of Honor taking the damage. WWE has agreed in principle with Ring of Honor's two top stars, Bryan Danielson and Nigel McGuinness. Both of these men have held the ROH World Title and are both very well known around the world for those who follow the independent wrestling scene. Here is what WWE is getting.
Bryan Danielson
Billed height: 5 ft 9 in
Billed weight: 185 lb
Trained by: Rudy Boy Gonzalez, Shawn Michaels William Regal Tracy Smothers Bobby Eaton, Masato Tanaka, and Grant McKee
Debut: October 4, 1999
He has held many titles throughout the country in various promotions and has also held titles in Japan and Canada.
Nigel McGuinness
Billed height: 6 ft 1 in (1.85 m)
Billed weight: 220 lb (100 kg)
Trained by Robbie Brookside, Chic Cullen, Les Thatcher, and Dave Taylor.
Debut September 1999
He also has held various titles around the country in different promotions. I personally think both men will do well in WWE because of how talented they. I think Nigel will get pushed more because of his size but Danielson will be really great. He was trained by Shawn Michaels and anyone that has ever been trained by him have turned to be pretty good. So the questions now are what are there characters going to be like, what shows will they be on, and how big is WWE going to let them be? Stay tuned to find out.

Blount Suspended for the Year
After a thrilling game between Boise State and Oregon which saw Boise State winning 19-8, Oregon Running back LeGarrette Blount punched Boise State defensive end Byron Hout in the mouth after Hout provoked him by saying something to him after the game. According to experts Blount was a top ranked running back but many people don't think he is worth drafting. This was Blount's senior season and now has to wait eight months to see if any NFL team will draft him. Last year he had 17 touchdowns and over 1,000 yards. What a waste of talent and waste of a college career all due to one stupid mistake. I will be watching closely in the spring if he gets drafted or not. At this point, I doubt it. Stay tuned for more on this crazy story.

John Morrison vs. Rey Mysterio: Match of the Year?
Tonight I saw one of the best matches on TV that I've seen all year. It was so good that it should be nominee for match of the year. It was face paced, high octane and full of nonstop action. Due to Rey Mysterio being suspended for thirty days he was forced to drop the Intercontinental Title to John Morrison. The match went about twenty minutes and was rock solid. There have not been a lot of great matches in WWE this year but this is right up there with matches that have been great this year. Other matches that should be up for the match of the year include:
Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Championship (Triple H, Edge (c), The Undertaker, The Big Show, Jeff Hardy, and Vladimir Kozlov)
The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels
Ladder match for the World Heavyweight Championship- Edge(c) vs. Jeff Hardy
Extreme Rules Match for the ECW Championship- Christian (c) vs. Tommy Dreamer
TLC match for the World Heavyweight Championship- Jeff Hardy(c) vs. CM Punk
D-Generation X vs. Legacy
So in nine months there has only been seven good matches that I have seen personally. Maybe there are some others out there and if so please name them. Now back to John Morrison. This win makes him a three time Intercontinental Champion along with being a former ECW Champion and five time tag team champion. Morrison's career is starting to rise and he is getting to be a bigger star every time he goes out there. He reminds me a lot of Jeff Hardy and Shawn Michaels. Put those two styles together and he has the potential to reach status of greatness and be a legend. It will now be Intercontinental Champion John Morrison vs. Dolph Ziggler at Break Point for the championship. What a great match that should be. Finally some new younger talent are finally getting the recognition they deserve. Congrats to the Friday Night Delight John Morrison by becoming the new Intercontinental Champion

Wrestlers Who Have Changed Persona's
I recently had a conversation with someone about certain wrestlers who have changed persona's in wrestling to make their career better or because they had to change for a different company. It's interesting because this person brought up the fact that these wrestlers are not that legendary because they had to change their persona's multiple times. However I disagree with one point. Look how many personalities Mick Foley had. He was Cactus Jack, Dude Love and Mankind. All three personalities were successful in some way. So here is the list of wrestlers with more then one character in their career.-Isaac Yankem, DDS became Fake Diesel then became Kane
-Tugboat who became Typhoon then became the infamous Shockmaster.
-Dustin Rhodes who became Goldust
-Papa Shango who became Kama, Kama Mustafa, The Godfather and The Goodfather
-Jamal from 3 Minute Warning became Umaga
-Headshrinker Fatu became the Sultan then became Rikishi
-Mike Rotunda became IRS
-"Sugar" Shane Helms became Hurricane Helms and Gregory Helms
-Ron Simmons became Faarooq
-Justin Hawk Bradshaw became Bradshaw then John Bradshaw Layfield
-Scotty Flamingo became Johnny Polo then became Raven
-El Gigante became Giant Gonzales
-Adam Bomb became Wrath then used his real name Bryan Clark
-Oz who became Vinnie Vegas then became Diesel and now uses his real name Kevin Nash
-Diamond Studd who became Razor Ramon and now uses his real name Scott Hall
-1-2-3 Kid who became X-Pac and also used the name Syxx
-Al Snow was Leif Cassidy for awhile
-Mabel who became Viscera then Big Daddy V
-Johnny B. Badd who then used his real name Marc Mero
- Big Bubba Rogers became Big Boss Man then became Guardian Angel and then Big Bubba Rogers again and then eventually Ray Traylor.
-Jacques Rougeau who became the Mountie
-Bob "Spark Plug" Holly who became Hardcore Holly
-And last The Blue Blazer that was in WWE in the late 80's returned as his real name Owen Hart
So as you can see this is not even most of the personality changes in pro wrestling. This is just a small list I came up with. It's kind of crazy how some of them most people didn't know about until the internet got big and people started doing their research on these guys. For example when the Godfather was at his peak I never knew he use to be Papa Shango until I looked it up. I am sure there are many more wrestlers who have changed persona's but these ones are the ones I came up with off the top of my head. If you have anymore please leave a comment.

Michael Vick Eligible in Week 3
Love him or hate him Michael Vick is officially back in the NFL. Commissioner Roger Goodell fully reinstated Vick yesterday with Vick being eligible to play in week three. Vick played in the Eagles preseason finale last night against the New York Jets.
Passing stats
7/11, 26 yards, 1 int
Rushing stats
7 carries, 35 yards, 1 touchdown
Vick is still a great scrambling Quarterback and really hasn't shown any real signs of rust after being away for nearly two years. A lot of people still don't like Vick due to his personal choices but you cannot deny the fact that he is a great athlete who did do a lot of great things in Atlanta when he was there. It will be interesting to see how Vick and McNabb get along when things go bad or times get tough. What will Andy Reid do if McNabb performs bad like he sometimes does. The Eagle have made the NFC Championship game five times in the last ten years and went there four years in a row. So with Vick there now can the Eagles get over the hump and win the Super Bowl finally? Only time will tell if Vick can lead the Eagles to the promise land.

The Red Sox Two Costly Mistakes
Within the last month the Boston Red Sox released pitchers John Smoltz and Brad Penny. Both Smoltz and Penny were not performing up to Red Sox standards but really what Red Sox pitcher has lately. Smoltz went on to sign with the St. Louis Cardinals and has done very well for himself in the few starts he had. Then you had Brad Penny who signed with the San Fransisco Giants and made his start with them this past week. He had a stellar performance which shocked Giants management. So is there something about the National League that makes it easier to pitch in? If so I am not quite sure what it is. Obviously in the N.L. there is no DH which makes it a little bit easier but how much easier could it be?
Another thing that I noticed is how great Pedro Martinez has been pitching. Why didn't the Red Sox try to bring him back? All I know is the Phillies, and Cardinals are going to be World Series contenders. The Giants have a chance to make the Wild Card and then you have the Red Sox who are struggling to stay in the Wild Card lead. The Rangers are only three games back and the Red Sox are not showing any signs of dominance. I believe that letting Smoltz and Penny go will come back to haunt them this year. If they make the playoffs they'll wish they had them. Can the Red Sox hang on the Wild Card lead and be a force in the playoffs? In three weeks or so we will find out so stay tuned.

Bruce Bowen Retires
Yesterday after thirteen years in the NBA Bruce Bowen has retired. Bowen is well known for being a pesky defender and getting into people heads with how aggressive he was on defense. He is most notable with his time with the San Antonio Spurs where he won three NBA Championships. He was nominated for the First and Second Defensive Teams in the NBA from 2001-2008. He was also second in voting for Defensive Player of the Year from 2005-2007. San Antonio was not Bowen's only destination. Other teams he played for include:
-Miami Heat (1997, 2000–2001)
-Boston Celtics (1997–1999)
-Philadelphia 76ers (1999–2000)
-Milwaukee Bucks (2009)
He also played in a league in France and the CBA for the following teams:
-Le Havre (1993–1994)
-Evreux (1994–1995)
-Rockford Lightning (1995–1996, 1997)
-Besançon (1996–1997)
Bowen was toughest small forward in the game that I have seen in quite sometime. There a lot of athletic small forwards in the game but he was the toughest to get by and the toughest to try and score on. He was very controversial in the way he played the game which led to a few altercations. He had a $10,000 fine for kicking Ray Allen in the back during a game in 2006. He also had some issues in the 2007 NBA Playoffs with the Phoenix Suns when his knee hit Phoenix Suns guard Steve Nash's groin which sent Nash to the floor. Bowen has has share of critics but he also had people that respected the way he played because it was different and in your face. Bowen had a good career and I am sure guys he defended are happy to see him leave. I personally will miss Bowen's in your face style of play. It brought something different to the game and something the game sorely needed. Will the ever be another defender like Bruce Bowen? I sure hope so.

A first in the WWE
Just when you think you have seen it all in the WWE they always do something new. For the first time ever at WWE's Breaking Point there will be a Tag Team Submissions Count Anywhere match between Degeneration X and Legacy. This should be interesting because no one in this match is really known for their submission skills. However here is what I think will happen. Triple H will use the crossface like he has done in the past. Shawn Michaels will use the sharpshooter and his modified figure four. I have no idea what Cody Rhodes will try to use as a submission finisher. It is clearly obvious that Ted Dibiase will use his fathers finisher the Million Dollar Dream. I am predicting that DX will win and it will end by Triple and Shawn Michaels putting both members of Legacy in the figure four, which was made famous by their hero Ric Flair. Breaking Point is WWE's newest Pay-Per-View concept where all the main events are submission matches. Other matches announced so far include:-World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk vs. Undertaker (Submission Match)
-WWE Champion Randy Orton vs. John Cena ("I Quit" Match)
-Mark Henry & Montel Vontavious Porter vs. Unified Tag Team Champions Chris Jericho & Big Show
I think CM Punk and Undertaker have the potential of having a great match, and making Punk into even a bigger star. Orton vs. Cena is getting old but I am really curious to see how the match ends because there are no rules except you have to say I Quit. The Unified Tag Team Title match looks intriguing but I think WWE is getting desperate and just putting two guys together as opponents. They have either split all the tag teams or they are not giving legitimate tag teams a chance. The only legit tag teams in the WWE right now are Legacy, DX, Hart Dynasty, and Cryme Tyme. They should have never split up Primo and Carlito because they were good together. Potential tag teams that could contend with Big Show and Chris Jericho would be Vladimir Kozloff and Ezekiel Jackson or the team of John Morrison and Matt Hardy.
WWE Breaking Point is September 13th and only three matches have been announced. I will be curious to see what other matches there will be. Stay tuned this next week to see what matches will be added.

Lesnar vs. Carwin at UFC 106, UFC 107 Stacked
It was announced a few weeks ago that Shane Carwin will take on Brock Lesnar for the UFC Heavyweight Championship at UFC 106 in November. Now lets look at this from a realistic point of view. Carwin has had more fights then Lesnar but Carwin has only beaten one credible opponent by the name Gabriel Gonzaga who in my opinion was overrated to begin with anyways. Lesnar has had five fights and has beaten Heath Herring, Randy Couture and Frank Mir. He beat three credible opponents and has beat them convincingly. Carwin will present a challange for Lesnar due to his size. He is
6 ft 3 in and, 259.5 lb. In the end, Lesnar will win probably by knockout in the second round and go on to face Nogueira sometime in 2010. That would be my guess considering how dominating Nog was against Randy Couture at UFC 102.
The Lesnar fight is not the only fight thats going to be great at UFC 106. It will be the return fight of one Tito Ortiz who will take on UFC Legend Mark Coleman. Ortiz has not fought in awhile but I hear he is in really good shape. Also Kenny Florian will take on Clay Guida in what could be a really intense fight. Both fighters are crazy strikers but Florian has the advantage when it comes to submission. You can bet Florian will angry in there considering he lost a chance to become champion against BJ Penn at UFC 101.
UFC 106 could be the best overall fight card of the year but I doubt it. UFC 107 already has a stacked card in December and here what that card looks like.
Quinton Jackson vs. Rashad Evans
Frank Mir vs. Cheick Kongo
Thiago Alves vs. Paulo Thiago
If those aren't some great match ups I don't know what is. The last half of the year looks like a great for the UFC. As Bruce Buffer would say "It's time!" It's time for some great fights in the UFC

Aaron Boone Returns from Open Heart Surgery
As someone who knows what it's like have open heart surgery and go through recovery I was really excited to see Aaron Boone return to baseball yesterday by playing for the Houston Astro's. In March he announced that he was having open heart surgery to replace a bicuspid aortic valve. He has had the condition since he was a kid but tests showed it had gotten worst. A lot of people including Boone himself didn't think he would play baseball again.
Aaron Boone comes from a great baseball family. His dad Bob Boone played as well as his brother Bret Boone. His grandfather Ray Boone played as well. Most people know Aaron Boone for his heroics in the 2003 ALCS when he hit a game winning home run against the Boston Red Sox in the 11th inning thus winning the game and series for the New York Yankees. It is ranked as one of the greatest home runs of all time.
Although Boone went 0-3 yesterday he had a great diving stop at 1st place which he was applauded for by the fans and his teammates. It takes a lot of guts to get back out there and play after something so major like that. Aaron Boone would be a great spokesperson for kids that have heart disease. He is sending a positive message to people not to let limitations stop you from your dreams. My hats off to Aaron Boone for a remarkable recovery and comeback. I hope to see more of him next year.

Curt Schilling Running for Senate?
As reported by ESPN yesterday, Curt Schilling is considering the possibility of running for senator for the state of Massachusetts. He would be running to fill the seat that was once held by Ted Kennedy. Curt is a registered independent and a supporter of the republican party. I would really like to see Schilling run just to see what he would be like a political figure. Schilling is a future Hall of Famer and one of the all time great post-season pitchers.
If Curt Schilling runs for senate he'll no doubt in my mind win because of his name. Most of the time when a big name runs for a political office they usually win. For example, Arnold, and Jesse Ventura. They both were considered long shots in some peoples eyes but they ultimately won their election races. Curt Schilling is a hero in Massachusetts because helped the Boston Red Sox win two World Series titles in 2004 and 2007. He's loved by a lot of people and Red Sox Nation could be the decided factor that gets him into office.

Detroit Lions Quarterback Mess
Like the old saying goes, "Things get worst before they ever get better." That happens to be the case with with the Detroit Lions. Yesterday Lions had to sign Quarterbacks Kevin O'Connell, and Brooks Bollinger because both Drew Stanton and Daunte Culpepper are both injured. Stanton blew out his knee and is probably done for good which disappoints me because he was really doing good in all of the preseason games. Culpepper was supposedly competing for the starting job against Matthew Stafford. However Culpepper has stitches in his foot that have not been taken out yet. So what does this all mean? It means the Lions are having problems as always and that Matthew Stafford will probably be the starter for week one.
If this is any indication of how the Lions season will go, they will probably be 0-16 once again. Look at their schedule this year.
1 Sun, Sep 13 @ New Orleans
2 Sun, Sep 20 Minnesota
3 Sun, Sep 27 Washington
4 Sun, Oct 4 @ Chicago
5 Sun, Oct 11 Pittsburgh
6 Sun, Oct 18 @ Green Bay
7 BYE WEEK
8 Sun, Nov 1 St. Louis
9 Sun, Nov 8 @ Seattle
10 Sun, Nov 15 @ Minnesota
11 Sun, Nov 22 Cleveland
12 Thu, Nov 26 Green Bay
13 Sun, Dec 6 @ Cincinnati
14 Sun, Dec 13 @ Baltimore
15 Sun, Dec 20 Arizona
16 Sun, Dec 27 @ San Francisco
17 Sun, Jan 3 Chicago
Okay so they might have a chance to win four games at best but I doubt it. They got handed a tough schedule and it doesn't look like this season will be any better then the last. Every team in their division had a good draft and made moves to get better. However the Lions made some bad draft choices and didn't do much to get better. Here is how it always goes. The offense can't do anything so the defense is on the field 75 percent of the time. The defense gets so tired by the end of the fourth quarter they give up a ton of points making it impossible to make a comeback. I am so glad I am not a Lions fan because if I were I still wouldn't watch. Oh what oh what are the Lions going to do. If you ask me they are completely screwed.

WWE Spinner Championship Belt being replaced?
Since the spring of 2005 the one thing has disgusted me the most about the WWE is the WWE Championship and the way it looks. When John Cena won the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 21 he got rid of a traditional WWE Championship belt and turned into a glorified piece of bling that people wear around there waist. It is being reported that a new belt is being made to replace the spinner belt and will debut soon. When it comes to wrestling I am about tradition and being old school. I will also admit when it comes the belts I mark out for almost all of them including the spinner belt. The spinner belt is cool to have as a item around the house or to bring out and show your friends but it's not right for a WWE Championship. Look back on some of the older belts.
These belts had style, class, dignity, and sense of respect that made the championship worth fighting for. Look at some of the past WWE Champions like Hogan, Savage, Hart, Flair, Bruno Sammartino, Bob Backlund, and others. Do you think they would have looked good with the spinner belt on them? No they wouldn't. In fact in doesn't look good anyone who has held it including Randy Orton, Jeff Hardy, Edge, Triple H, and Rob Van Dam. I am hoping whatever this new belt looks like it represents the past and the present. I personally would like to see the one that was used from 1998-2002 to return. I hope this new belt debuts soon it likes something people would fight for. Lastly, if you were going to desecrate a belt, why not do it to the World Heavyweight Championship? After all it use to be the WCW Championship belt and WCW is dead so it's not like anyone cares about it. So finally after four years of me complaining about this spinner belt, I will finally get my wish and there will be new championship belt. I for one will be rejoicing that a new belt has arrived. I will definitely be posting my thoughts on this new belt when it comes out and hopefully it will be better then what we have seen the last four years. Stay tuned for more.

Four Athletes on Dancing with Stars
I usually don't write about television outside of sports but considering athletes are involve I will. Dancing with the Stars which is in it's ninth season will air on September 21st. This year four athletes will compete to be a champion again. The athletes are Natalie Coughlin, Chuck Liddell, Michael Irvin, and Louie Vito. I am obviously pulling for "the iceman" Chuck Liddell because I am a huge UFC fan. There some other well known celebrities in the competition this year that include Aaron Carter, Melissa Joan Hart, Kathy Ireland, Kelly Osbourne and Donny Osmond.
So tune in on September 21st to see who will be the champion of Dancing with the Stars. Don't count out the big athletes because a few of them have won before including Emmitt Smith, Helio Castroneves, and Kristi Yamaguchi. Other athletes who have competed and went far include Jerry Rice, Warren Sapp, Laila Ali, and Evander Holyfield. So like I said don't count out the athletes, especially the bigger ones. They must just shock you.

Goldust vs. Sheamus
Over the last month on ECW I've noticed something that's going probably unnoticed by most wrestling fans and that's the small rivalry on ECW between Goldust and Sheamus. The rivalry concluded last night with a No DQ, No Count out match with Sheamus getting the victory. I have really enjoyed the matches they had on TV because ECW doesn't provide very good TV. Sheamus came from Florida Championship Wrestling which is WWE's developmental promotion. Sheamus was very successful down there winning the FCW Championship on one occasion. He was also a very credible "heel" which made it easy for him to be one on WWE television.
This rivalry has produced some really solid matches on TV that both guys should be proud of especially Goldust who is a veteran and in a lot of peoples mind past his prime. Goldust can still have great matches and make the fans believe in him which made this month long rivalry something to watch. I wish WWE did more of these types of things. Have small little feuds that are competitive that last maybe a month or two between a veteran and a younger guy that helps the younger guy get over in the process. I think Sheamus will be much better now that he worked with Goldust(Dustin Rhodes) and hopefully will go on to have a successful career in WWE. Stay tuned to see how Sheamus does against other opponents.

Shaq VS is fun and unique
So I caught an episode of Shaq VS last night and I got to say I am somewhat impressed by his other athletic skills he has. I also like the concept of another athlete challenging other athletes in their sports. Last night it was Shaq vs. Albert Pujols in a home run contest. Here were the rules for the contest. Shaq's handicap was that Shaq only has to hit the ball 250 feet to center. Pujols has to hit it 382 feet. Also, Shaq got ten outs per round, while Pujols got only five.
The Winner ended being Albert Pujols (Final Score: 16-10) but Albert gave Shaq a lot of credit and they both had a lot of fun with it. This was the third episode of it so far. The first episode was Shaq vs. Ben Roethlisberger. The challenge was a Quarterback challenge. Shaq's handicap was that Shaq gets to start each possession at the 20-yard line while Ben must start at the 40-yard line. The Winner was Ben Roethlisberger in a very close battle. (Final Score: 21-14)
In the second episode Shaq along with some help challenged Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh to a Volleyball match. This time there was no handicap and Misty May and Kerri won the match (Final Score: 11-6, 11-8)
Next week on Shaq VS. he will take on Oscar Dela Hoya in a five round boxing match at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. I am curious to see how this turns out. Also in two weeks he takes on Michael Phelps and their competition is unknown but I am sure we all know what it's going to be about. Tune on ABC on Tuesday Nights at 9pm to find out if Shaq can hang with other athletes in different sports. I enjoy the trash talking as well as the friendliness of it all. It makes for great television and great fun.

Aftermath of Rey Mysterio's Suspension
Last night at the Friday Night Smackdown tapings Rey Mysterio lost in his Intercontinental Title due to being suspended for 30 days because of violating the WWE's Drug and Wellness policy. A lot of people are saying his WWE career might be over due to a controversial interview he did in Mexico. He stated that the suspension wasn't justified which infuriated Vince McMahon. Mysterio has been in a lot of reports since Benoit did suggesting he does do steroids of some sorts. Only time will tell if he comes back to WWE. For now I would not count on it for awhile. So this Friday you will see Rey Mysterio lose the Intercontinental title to John Morrison in what I am told is a very great match that should be on a pay-per-view. I will definitely be tuning in. My question is, where does this leave Dolph Ziggler who was scheduled to face Rey at Breaking Point? Does it now become Morrison vs. Ziggler? I guess we will have to wait and find out.
This suspension is one of those that really screws up things. For example, in 2008 when Jeff Hardy got suspended before Wrestlemania that screwed things up. He was scheduled to win Money in the Bank that year and win the title earlier then he did but didn't because of his suspension. The winner of that match was CM Punk and his career has been great ever since. Guys who drop the ball are giving other guys a huge chance to be somebody. Look at the night Chris Benoit murdered his family and himself. He was suppose to be at a PPV wrestling CM Punk for the ECW Championship that was vacated. Who took Benoit's place? A talented young man by the name of Johnny Nitro who is now known as John Morrison. Coincidence? I am not sure but I know one thing for sure the young guys like Ziggler, Tyson Kidd, David Hart-Smith, Matt Hardy are going to be in line for that title. I cannot wait to see what happens with Intercontinental title the next few months. I think it's going to make for some exciting and fresh matches. Stay tuned to find out more.

White Sox throwing in the white flag, while the Dodgers gain
It would appear that the White Sox don't believe they can win the AL Central any longer because they traded two of their best players away last night. Jim Thome is now with the L.A. Dodgers and Jose Contreras to the Rockies. The White Sox are six games back of the Detroit Tigers in the AL Central with only four weeks left to play. However those were not the only last minute deals yesterday. The Dodgers also acquired Jon Garland from Arizona and Ronnie Belliard Washington. The Giants signed Brad Penny to a minor league deal in hopes of him coming back. It would appear that the Dodgers have the advantage now going into the final month of the season and into the playoffs. They now have tons of depth and pitching on their roster. I will be very surprised if the Dodgers do not make it to the World Series and win it all. They have the team to beat right now.
As far as the American League goes, it's a mess as always. Minnesota still has a chance, Boston and Texas are still in it. The Angels did acquire Scott Kazmir last weekend increasing the strength of their rotation but at the end of it all I think the New York Yankees will be in the World Series. Sabathia, and Burnett are starting to prove why they were brought to New York to begin with. The Tigers are to inconsistent and won't make it past the first round if they make it to the playoffs. If the Wild card is Texas, they will be knocked out quick as well. The only teams that can compete with the Yankees are the Angels and Red Sox. So if you ask me the World Series will be the L.A. Dodgers against the New York Yankees with the Dodgers winning in six games. If I am wrong I will make sure to let all of you know but thats my final prediction for the year on baseball. This last month is going to be intense and will be fun to watch so keep your eyes open and see who makes the playoffs.

Chavo Guerrero's role in WWE
Week after week one of the things I see on Monday Night Raw is Chavo Guerrero being made to look like an idiot on national television. Ever since Extreme Rules, this year he has been in the dumbest of matches losing to a Leprechaun named Hornswoggle. Lets start from most recent and go backwards.
August 31st
Bull rope match dressed up as a cow
August 24th
Boxing Match
August 17th
Falls Count Anywhere
July 27th
Blindfold match
July 20th
"Sharp Dressed Man” Tuxedo Match
July 9th
Chavo had wrestle on his knees
These are all the ridiculous matches Chavo has been in and he has lost them all. At first it was kind of funny but it's not anymore. Chavo has not took part in a serious wrestling match in a very long time and it's a disgrace because he comes from a very legendary family. It's also horrible because Eddie died with WWE and the people loved Chavo when he was going out as a good guy trying to honor his uncle. Chavo is a lot better then what they are presenting him on TV. I mean the guy has a pretty decent resume.
ECW Champion
Four time WWE Cruiserweight Champion
Two time WWE Tag Team Champion
WCW Tag Team Champion
Two Time WCW Cruiserweight Champion
If I was Chavo Guerrero I would leave WWE and go to TNA because he would probably be taken more seriously. His family has made a lot of contributions to pro wrestling and well known throughout Mexico and the United States as well as Japan. It's one thing to have funny stuff on television but I don't think a whole lot of people are laughing. I hope Chavo gets his deserved push soon or leaves the WWE and go somewhere else where is appreciated. I want to see Chavo go back to the old ways of "I lie, I Cheat, I steal," and do some of stuff Eddie and him did as a tag team. Only time will tell if Chavo gets his break and has some competitive matches again. Stay tuned for more

Tedy Bruschi Retires
Yesterday a great career of 13 years came to an end. Tedy Bruschi's decided to retire after spending all 13 years of his career with the New England Patriots. He was drafted 86th overall in the 1996 draft and what a remarkable career he had. He accomplished quite a bit for a linebacker including:
-2 time All-American (1994, 1995)
-3 time First-team All-Pac 10 (1993, 1994, 1995)
-1995 Morris Trophy Winner (Defense)
-Second-team All-Pro (2004)
-2 time Pro Bowl selection (2004, 2005)
-Co-NFL Comeback Player of the Year (2005)
-2 time Ed Block Courage Award winner (2000, 2005)
-3 time Super Bowl champion (XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX)
In 2005, he suffered a mild stroke which many thought would end his career as football player but came back to play in the fall where he continued to play up until yesterday. Even the often unemotional Bill Belichick was choked up talking about Tedy yesterday stating he was the perfect player. There is not doubt in my mind Bruschi will be in the Hall of Fame someday and will be considered for having one of best comebacks in sports history. Congratulations Tedy on an outstanding career. You deserve all the recognition in the world.
